Thank you for calling out how stupid and unnecessary the series story focuses have been, I truly hate that they made this "remake the world crap" a trend. You are right in assuming the games just decided on a formula and forever stuck with it, but even so there were improvements done to it. Sure, they weren't ever the pinnacle of their platforms but the improvement was there. Most notably with their sprite-work. I think it is only fair to start expecting a franchise with such explosive success to keep on improving, even more so when the hardware isn't the limiting factor anymore. But "not improving" and "downgrading" are different things, so are both "expect" and "want". Over the years having any more expectations for gamefreak just became a sign of delusion. What I mean to say is that fans that truly care and want something good shouldn't just give up and eat shit. I mean they will eat shit while caring but lmao pokemon doesn't matter anymore anyways. Also there are female Slaking how does that make any sense if that doesn't prove my point I don't know what does.
Our views and opinions rarely coincide but this one really takes the alcremie. Besides the gross GBA music you're something else if you think gen 3 isn't some kind of peak with its leap in animations, spritework, and thoughtful level design. GF hasn't even attempted to touch Gen 1 in terms of story but for a kids game the environmental message is nice, especially with the dynamic between Team Magma/Aqua. They have completely opposite ideologies while also both being wrong as a commentary against extremes teaching a message of humility, compassion, and compromise. This conflict is also set in the perfect backdrop of a region with the most water in the series meaning that each team has as much to gain as they have to lose. That's just good drama. They stopped adding the previous game's region because Gen 2's was a rushed mess that wasn't the least bit fun besides the occasional bit of fan service. I would rather they put all of their focus into one region. Choice of traversal was incredibly novel at the time with the acro bike hopping, mach bike ramps, circumventing trainers with pools of water. Every town feels unique instead of Kanto's constant reuse of bulding sprites and Johto's vaguely japanese stylings. Hoen has a volcanic resort town, a tree village. An island. Another island. SOOTOPOLIS. May looks like a little bearded monster from behind. This smells like the thesis came first and I for one am very displeased. Me and my 1200 alt accounts will be unsubscribing.
