Ever feel like your brain has run out of ideas? Here’s how to break out of a creative rut.
Feeling blocked isn’t just a problem for “creative” types. Many jobs require a healthy dose of fresh thinking and new ideas, and it doesn’t feel good to hit that mental wall. Innovation Editor Christine Liu talks to Sonja Rasula, CEO and founder of Unique Markets, about how to break out of creative ruts, how to approach (and accept) them when they happen, and what you can do to reduce the likelihood of a major creative crisis.

Just start doing something, anything, doodling on a page, writing a stream of consciousness. Action = inspiraton.

I think getting yourself out of a creative rut or "writer's block" is one of the main skills creatives need to master. Action causes inspiration. Not the other way round.

I liked this. It can be used in so many facets of every day life as well, not just at work. Thanks for the post.

I have a problem with the "frozen middle" or "middle managers", how can we make them transmit the vision from the top to the bottom?

Such timely and helpful video! The best thing about this is knowing that other people suffer through creative rut and there are ways to dig out of that hole. Thank you for this video!

Christine, I really need a video about going back to the office after working from home for more than a year. I’m trying not to be angry having to wake up earlier, actually do my hair, and commute. Help!

Hey, great video and practical tips that Sonja gave! I think these methods are the need of the hour even just for surviving in this “work from home” culture. The office hours are getting pushed further and further and it is becoming increasingly difficult to stop thinking about work. I think these tips will definitely come handy to avoid having a “burnout”. Thanx!
