This is terrific and you really are a mental health expert! I am not a great painter but I paint everyday and often binge paint--one piece after another! Sometimes, when I cannot sleep, I get up and paint until I feel sleepy. I have been reading more about flow state and I recognize now that my painting helps me achieve that along with my daily walks in the woods. Sometimes, baking, cooking, or preparing for holidays can put me in flow state, even cleaning--when I do it at my own pace. Love the suggestion of tidying up, as well. I find that my painting area gets smaller and smaller and then I know, it's time to clear away multiple palettes and materials. Overall, all of your five tips resonate with me. I do have an addiction to novelty, especially new paints, brushes, and papers. I have been collecting 100% cotton paper and finally, don't feel guilty using it! Love watching your videos. Congratulations on your Open Studio. Wonderful pictures. Thanks.

Omg I resonate with everything you say and do! And yes the trick to not feel bad about using good cotton paper is just start hoarding then you have a whole stack u ‘need’ to use! Hahaha

I'm still watching! Just got excited because I've also been journaling my whole life! Lol. Got my first in grade 1, from the book fair! (Some people are horrified by this, but I don't keep them!) 😂❤
Edit: it helps handwriting skills too! Lol, I get compliments all the time.

I'm curious, why don't you keep them?

Omg do you just throw them away? I have kept all of mine and horrified by the thought of anyone reading them. So wondering why I keep them. Hmmmm.

@ste_channel most of them were like...depression journals. Even from when I was a kid. After a few years I'll flip thru and tear out pages of highlights/important memories or travel. I only have back to 2016!
I've actually been thinking about using these pages for collage cuz I've been using the exact same midori journal and love the paper!

@@crystaltanart I did! Lol. I have the past 7 years and am thinking of using them for collages. Maybe in the underpainting?!

@@cremeuxkraft9019 Ah, I see :( I can get that, it's kind of similar for me. Where I have so many old journals that I can't bear to reread, but also can't bring myself to throw them away for some reason. Because maybe *someday* I'll want to read them...?
