My Dad loved this song. He passed away many years ago. Random times like tonight, this song pops up. Whenever I hear it, I feel it’s my dad saying “hello I’m still here with you” ❤
No computers to enhance his voice. No autotune to make him sound better. Just a microphone and pure skill. Powerhouse voice! No school like the old school. It will never be that legendary again. Now, we are stuck with this shitty no talent "woke" Era.

Get over yourself tool -- Montreux is known long and far -- people GO TO MONTREUX for songs/musicians like this ... just because you didn't have a clue doesn't mean the rest of the world didn't. Exactly the same here - 56 year old woman. Irony is, although I loved the song in my youth - and have the hearing loss to prove it, playing as I did at top volume over and over again on my Walkman - I lacked the depth of maturity to even understand it. I appreciate it all the more now.

Oh my gosh his voice was phenomenal. This song takes me back to 16 riding in a car in the way home from the mall just cruising to this. With a few friends. Good days music and times.
I periodically come back to this video. I love the song, but this version of it just touches me to the core. At 64 years of age I hear the lyrics, "I've wasted all those years" and I realize, Mick nailed it.
He does sound good, but 'nobody? Really, I have to disagree.....besides, this is only about six years after the original release date. And, as a retired professional drummer from L.A., I have heard bands live versions of songs that sound MUCH better than their own studio version.
I heard this song the first time in the spring of 1986. I then ran out and bought the CD. Played it non-stop. His amazing voice & the beautiful music touches my soul deep down inside of me. I'm still listening to this beautiful song. Never ever gets old. 10/6/2024.
you couldn't imagine in 2022 that the songs of the 1980s were so perfect. Emotionally have we achieved something stronger since then? Honestly I don't think so...
Bitter Sweet song for me. My late wife was in Her last stages type 4 cancer when this song was popular. Back in the day after she passed this song would bring up a lot of sad memories. But with time healing comes. When I hear it now I am remember the pleasant memories. S/Red thank you for your awesome song. Good music will endure through all the seasons of life.
Same here. I lost her 2 and half years ago. Sorry for you loss. P.S. That song was about his yearning to find his mother who abandoned him all those years ago.
If you really think people don't make music like this today, you're kidding yourself. Just look and you'll find a lot of musicians who were influenced by these bands and continued the legacy.
It wasn't always like that. When they were the Frantic Elevators , practicing above the Salford Karate Club, they were often burst in on, and beaten up.
Don’t be sad fellow Gen Xers, be thankful that we grew up in the 80’s, and for music like this to transport us back, if only for a few moments. Smile at your most treasured memories. See you at the finish line.
My eyes fill up with tears whenever I hear this beautiful classic. We were so blessed to grow up in a time when music still came from the soul and memories were stored in your mind and not on a phone.
I agree with you, I have such a quiet, calm memory of listening to this song when it first came out, I took a bike ride by myself and went down to the St.Croix river and I had my headphones on and I just sat in the grass watching the boats and thinking this song is my life. So blessed to have that memory still to this day!

When we were growing up, the artist didn't need 100 dancers and an elaborate stage design. Their instruments and vocals was all we needed.
