The younger Pug, K, can be best described as a hyperactive spaz, known for being a hooligan. Truth be told, he should be on Ritalin because he definitely has Pug A.D.H.D.
So, as you can imagine, K has an uncanny ability to get into everything he is not supposed to. What this means in practical terms is that K is always on the move. If I open a door, he is there checking things out to see what's up. If I turn on a faucet, he is close by to investigate. And when I am eating, he is underfoot looking to see what's for dinner.
Last week, J and K were staying with friends while Julia and I were traveling. When we returned home, our friends brought back our boys to us totally exhausted because the night before they were unable to sleep.
The reason was because the smoke from the wildfires we have been experiencing here in Moscow was so thick (click here to see photos - johnva.com/node/706), it was penetrating our friends' house. And, since Pugs are so little and have respiratory issues as a breed, it was hard for them to breathe . . . and to sleep.
When J got home, he immediately went to his «cushion» and crashed. K, on the other hand, just could not sit still or sleep because he just had to be «in the know». I guess the little guy thought he had the stamina to keep up with what was going on in the house, but to his surprise, he just could not stay awake while standing.

My pug was staring at me the whole time I was watching this, just laying in his bed with his head up, staring at me.

@gianrc Thanks for the info . . . actually in this video, he had enough oxygen, he had just been up all night and was just really tired. He is one of those dogs that just has to be into everything going on around him, so often he keeps himself awake more than he should.

Looked kinda like a silent seizure. I hope it wasn’t. My pug used to have similar seizures occasionally. I’m glad it wasn’t sever enough for meds. What a cute pug his little guy is. 😍🥰😘

@mikialama In Wales we call that "Cysgu Ci Bwtchwr". It literally means "sleeping butcher's dog". It comes from the old days when the dog is pretending to sleep in a butcher's shop so that if any meat falls the dog won't miss it. My dog does it too, in fact I think EVERY dog does it secretly; they're just sneakier than others! :)

Whoa... calm yourself. My chihauhau/chinese-crested is the same attitude with the ADHD and has done the falling asleep standing up thing. Human children do it all the time too, and it's not a seizure, just not wanting to fall asleep and miss anything. Please step away from your computer and work on your Internet Rage issues. He is not in pain or in fear for sure. And it’s hard to find a more joyful and lively dog (I am sure J sometimes wants his younger brother to be less energetic :))

@lionavids I live part time in Moscow and part time in Florida. And yes, that smoke was a disaster.
Poor dog. He had not enough oxigen in his brain, so he fainted. It´s common in pugs, because they can´t breathe well. When he faints, give him oxigen, otherwise his brain could be damaged.

Don't worry, he is not! He felt much better as soon as he let himself get some sleep. And he is doing absolutely fine now, which is a year after :)

@kontoulisnn The vet now would be too late I guess, since the video was shot more than a year ago. It is said in the description. It is also said what exactly happened in the video. And of course I take my pugs to the vet regularly, don’t worry. If the vet thought something was wrong, it would have been taken care of immediately, because I love my dogs.

(continued) Of course we took K and his brother to the vet. And the vet confirmed he was fine. Moreover, this video was shot 2,5 years ago, and K has been to the vet on a regular basis since them. So he is a healthy and well treated dog.
I take great offense that you would think I could put up such a video without making sure my dog was healthy and sound.

@angelaferguson3 This dog wasn’t drugged of course. He was just very tired after a sleepless night due to the smog from wildfires in Moscow in 2010 (see the story in the description to the video)
