At least 3 years and going!!
This CS 400 was dropped off to me and I'm not a regular user of chainsaws so I figured I'd do a service and that had me stumped. Thanks!
Four years later this video is still saving people. Thank you!!!
No problem!
After fooling around with the clutch cover for over an hour and getting frustrated this video was exactly what I needed. Thank you!
You're welcome!
I was nearly an hour and also gave the end of my thumb a good slice too haha.
5 years later, and this video is still saving people. Thank you sir!
THANK YOU for publishing this video. You saved me a ton of time as I could not figure out how to get my cover back on. A huge time saver

Dude, this saved me! Had to use some brake parts cleaner and take off the spring cover but saved me a trip to the. Mechanic!
Happy to help!
I fought this for two hours, and then found your video. It worked!! Thanks very much for posting, and saving me time, money, and aggravation.
Glad it helped!
5 years later! Saved my butt, borrowed a saw from my grandfather and was dreading taking it back broken. Thank you!
I just recently, had to get a Husqvarna chainsaw to clear vast areas of fallen trees due to the Cyclone storms here in NZ. Due to my inexperience with these awesome machines, I did this mistake while trying to clean & tighten the chainsaw. So! A huge thankyou for your experience & for the very clear & concise description on how to release the brake etc. Looking forwards to learning more from your site.👍
You’re welcome. I’m happy to help!
Note to self: DON'T lock the chain brake before disassembly.
Thank you! Thank you! Great help, so simple but for those of us who are self taught this is huge wisdom. Ive been fighting with this for hours... Really appreciate your channel.
You’re welcome!
Thank you so much for this video. I have been working with chainsaws on the fire ground for years and never had this problem. That is until today when I was getting ready to process my wood pile for the winter. This video saved me time and money!
I’m happy it worked for you!!!
This video saved me a ton of time/cost - I will send you LOVE$. Video is very well done. Concise-well organized-video/audio quality and content are superb
That’s awesome thank you!
Thank you I was having trouble with my cover for the past half an hour and I literally resolved it within 30 seconds. Good man.
Hours of pissing around and frustration ended with a four minute video thank you so much for this.
No problem. I've been there before myself!
This is fantastic. Was going to have to find a repairman... now I can take care of the wind-blown trees before winter. Saved me!
Great to hear!
4 years later this video helped a county worker fix a chainsaw. Appreciate the assist.
I should have watched this video 45 minutes ago. After watching this video, problem solved in 30 seconds. Thanks!
That's great!
TOTALLY fixed my issue! Great fix for a mistake I won’t make again. Thanks for posting this, definitely saved me a headache!
Glad it helped!
I’ve been using a chainsaw for years, but never encountered this problem before. I could see what the problem was, but didn’t know how to get the little brake lever back in the other position. I was afraid I might break it. This solution came to mind, but that was when I went looking for help, which confirmed my understanding. 2 minutes later I was back in business!
Happy to help :)
Thank you Sir! spent 4 hours trying to solve it myself. Your video nailed it immediately. very grateful
Many thanks. Spent forever yesterday trying to decipher online forum advice and hammering away. Watched this and it really was as easy as you make it look. Back in the game! ✊
Great to hear!
Can’t thank you enough for this advice. You saved me from buying a new part or taking it to get a repair. Many many thanks!
Just wasted more than an hour trying to figure this out. Watched your video and problem fixed in less than a minute. Thank you so much!
No problem. I glad it worked for you too!
Thank you very much for this video. I couldn't get the cover on, so I searched for replacing the chain on a Husqvarna. I watched the manufacturer's video. They said that if you remove the cover with the chain brake forward, you have to take the saw to a dealer. Thankfully, I found your video. Thanks a lot!
Glad I could help
👍 I've taken my chain apart 50 + times, never had this problem, and then I did, I was looking up places near me to take it to, and then I said to myself, you tube, sure enough, I still feel stupid, but thankfully it's only the thousands of people that view this video that know I'm stupid, instead of a local repair shop😉
Thank you Sir
Excellent video, easy to understand..thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏
I'm so happy it helped!
Just spent 2 hours trying to refit the cover on my 445. Found this. Took 2 minutes! Thanks from England!
Glad it helped!
I'm just one of many who had their weekend saved by your video - thank you!! Noted that the hex spanner that came with my chainsaw had cutouts on one side to turn that easily.
Great to hear!
Thanks Dude! Your five year old video saved me. I made the rookie mistake of taking off the clutch cover with the break engaged…won’t do that again.
Thank you, sir. I have a husqvarna 576xp chainsaw. I removed the clutch drum, and I couldn't get it back on, because my chain break was engaged. Thanks for helping people like me solve this problem.
Glad it helped!
Such useful advice, thank you! It's a simple thing to forget, the kickback brake, and it ruined my day until I found this video. Would be nice if my local Husqy dealer showed me these things, but I guess they want to feel indispensable...
Thank you so much for this video!! I just bought a new Rancher 460 and wanted to replace the stock chain from the start. This is my first Husqvarna. I misread the directions, thinking I needed to have the brake engaged instead of disengaged. I saw another video that said a dealer would have to fix it, but you solved my problem in 2 minutes.
That's great! I'm happy it worked for you.
Thank you so much for this video!!! I was about to order another clutch plate cover for my 445e but this saved the day!!
Glad I could help!
I had this problem yesterday and was going to take it to the shop. Thanks very much you just saved me a lot of money.

I was getting frustrated trying to put the darn cover and it wouldn't for the life of me. Figured I'd UA-cam it and here we are. Now it works...thx, you saved me some money lol.
You're welcome!
Great tip! Ultimately, we had to remove the bar and chain before we were able to engage the fins of the safety handle. It worked!
Glad it helped!

You’re welcome. Happy to help!

Thanks man, this'll help. Wish I watched this initially before trying again and again.... And again.

Add another intermediate chainsaw user not knowing this and pulling what is left of my hair out, thank you so much for the assist! I cannot believe I didn't think of this.👏

Wasted so much time fiddling around with this last night thinking the tensioner was busted or something similar. Thank you!
Thanks man, I spent a few minutes trying to figure out on my own, and even trying that (the second method) but I didn't want to break it. Everything went back to normal. Thanks again

Thank you this saved me money , time and aggravation. I was going to take it into the shop after mistakenly removing the clutch cover with the brake engaged. Very good content my friend keep it up 👍👍 Also you got a sub from me.

Four years later and still helping. Thank you
No problem!
Great video and simple explanation. I wish I’d seen this before I damaged my original sprocket guard and had to buy a new one.
You star... thank you so much for taking some of your valuable time and putting this video together.
If your initial aim was to help people with little knowledge of saws... well you've certainly achieved the objective... this has been a massive, massive help. Kind regards from Pete in the English Lake District
You're welcome and thank you for the kind words!
Thanks. This saved me from trip to shop. It also showed how stupid I was for not paying attention when I threw the chain.
I just bought mine 7 days ago and this just saved me!! Thanks again bud!
You’re welcome!
Thanks for this. I've disassembled my saws dozens and dozens of times and managed to constrict the band before doing so for the first time last night. I suspected I activated the brake, and should have realized it when the cover was very difficult to get off. Appreciate the fix ideas.
I'm a moron changing my bar and chain and you saved my weekend. Thanks bro!
Any time!
Struggling with my 242 and You saved my day. Thanks so much!

Just the info I needed. I can’t get the cover back on after swapping out chains because the band won’t slide down over the clutch wheel. I’m gonna try what you explained/showed. Crossing my fingers. Thanks.
