We get absolutely nowhere since we quit in the middle of the mission last time xD But we at least get to meet Lady, fight Vergil and a couple other bosses :P

I love that Agni and Rudra are the nicest demons dante has ever met throughout the whole franchise
And then Dante pawned them off because he found them to be too talkative.
They're cool guys, A&R don't deserve that crud.
Dante basically hates all things demon up until this game since they are effectively responsible for all the bad things in his life, I.e. killing his mom and Vergil (he thought he died too until the dmc3 prequel manga where they reunited after years of assuming each other were dead, which is why they alluded to having met a year priorto the game) which is why he took up devil hunting as a career. He also hates his demon half and is in denial that he has a demon for a father, despite what his mother told him when he was young.
Mission numbers in this episode (not including 5 cuz that was in the last one):
6: As you saw, the burn marks on the floor formed a 6
7: As Dante walks away, he wipes some blood on the wall with his finger. A bit of it drips down, making it look like a 7
8: At the beginning when Dante’s walking towards the edge of the tower, there’s an 8 on the moon. I honestly have no goddamn clue whether that’s meant to be a crater on there or something, but that’s where the 8 is.
Also, regarding some of your confusions, Dante tore off that sleeve because Vergil cut it (and also his arm) as he reached for the amulet. I assume it was practically about to fall off anyways, so Dante just ripped it off.
And as for the “I don’t have a father” bit, yeah he starts this game completely rejecting his demonic heritage (while Vergil completely rejects his humanity), but obviously he comes to accept both sides of himself (I wouldn’t really call this a spoiler considering you’ve seen him in 1 and 5)
Vergils dialogue quality may be due to his voice actor being cast very late in production. So it’s possible they didn’t have time to get him to whatever normal quality studio they used for the rest of the cast. Also Dante’s descent down the tower lives rent free in my head for how awesome it is.
I think its because Dan Southworth (Vergil's VA) had a cold while recording his lines

little tips:
you start with 3 DT bars but if you upgrade your meter, you get DT explosion which is done by charging your meter. release to deal a shit ton of damage (can basically half health bosses if full bar full charge)
Still one of the best games ever

I just wanted to let you guys know that theres a weird glitch the hd collection on steam, where if you try to load up the games, you just get a gray screen and it wont work, dont uninstall the game because it gets rid of all your save data for the three games, which happened to me.
Thanks for the heads up, glad we haven't encountered this glitch yet while booting up all three games in the collection 😅

Yeah in DMC 3 Dante was basically rejecting his demonhood, mostly since demons killed his family. When he says "its been a year since we last met" he was refering to the novel where he found out Vergil was still alive

20:24 The reason dante denies having a father is due to him rejecting his demonic side, and attempting to embrace his humanity by casting aside his demonic heritage. Of course, at the end of the game dante matures enough to where he realizes how good of a man his father truly was.

Just to let you know, you fight Vergil more than once. Also there's a taunt in DMC 5 where Dante flips his hair up to look like Vergil's
I remember someone talking about how this game is ridiculous ruthless in terms of difficulty and yeah it doesn't play around so recommend learning moves and abilities head to toes or you won't last long. It's mostly because DMC 2 was a walking in the park in terms of difficulty and there was no challenge other then playing threw anymore of that game.

Maybe a little tip for the blood maid enemies: make sure you kill the one you stoned with the shotgun

We have read Visions of V but didn't get that's where he unlocked his demonic powers xD

This game absolutely DEMOLISHED my ass,when i first played it(i was around 13 at the time and i was a general scrub at games X/ )
EVERY.SINGLE.BOSS.Was a challenge to get through,but no matter how many times i would get knocked down,i would come back and beat them B)
From the memorable boss designs,down to the level designs,this game ended up being my most cherished memory from my childhood 8D
(p.s. I had NO idea there were Jester faces in the background of his boss arena.Creepy D8>)

You should note that this game takes place before dmc1 and Dante has severe daddy issues at this point, blaming Sparda for the death of his mother. Vergil has his demon power because he never suppressed it, whereas Dante hates his demon side to the point of denying it's even there.
Dante didn't do anything wrong.
