A special DMC3 episode to end off November! Dante keeps making us angry, Lady is really cool and Vergil is high. Not much else to say xD

Answers to some of your questions:
1. Dante is shirtless cuz the game devs wanted to represent his energetic and youthfulness (he’s 18 or 19 years old in this game, same as Vergil. In DMC 5, he’s in his mid 40s).
2. Dante’s color is red cuz it’s the opposite of blue, which is Vergil’s color (their colors and attitudes represent the Red and Blue Onis from Japanese folklore-in a nutshell, the Red Oni is expressive and wild, while the Blue Oni is controlled and intellectual).
3. IDK Dante’s favorite candy, but his favorite confection is strawberry sundae.
4. I doubt the Leviathan (the creature that swallowed Dante, which I’m certain is supposed to be the biblical leviathan), is Vergil’s pet; he didn’t seem to care that much about it. Besides, he only summoned the Temen-Ni-Gru to obtain his father’s power, hence why he gets irritated whenever Arkham starts blabbing on about the history and purpose of the Temen-Ni-Gru.
5. I’m certain that Nevan is a vampire, not a succubus. Also, she said, “Now you’ll become tired.” She always says that before summoning a lightning strike.
Nevan is neither a vampire nor a succubus, she is a Leanan sídhe, a figure from Irish Folklore who seduces men and takes them down a dark path
6. Why is he wearing those boots? Probably comfort and utility in regards to combat. Other members of the cast also wear some boot or boot variant (Except V cuz "V doesn't fight anything").
7. Not entirely sure but I'm presuming Dante bought his kits (The building and all) after borrowing money after borrowing money from Enzo. He repays him by doing devil hunting stuff and selling off the devil arms he collects. Vergil just supposedly wandered around and drew sustenance from his devil energy (might have robbed a few stores at some point), did some demon hunting for bounties and sold their parts probably. Dante might have been the broke pizza man, but Virgil was living the true hobo life XD

The reason why he wears a red jacket is because it was white when he got it and then people just started stabbing him every other day, this became such a common occurrence that he just stopped washing it so now it is permanently red.
To be fair, the first time they met Lady fired a bazooka at Dante for no reason, unprovoked, not knowing that he is not a human and isn't gonna die. I'd say him being a dick to her is perfectly justified.
Honestly, I kinda like how much of a cocky asshole Dante is in 3, considering it's the earliest game in the timeline so it makes sense he'd be a little careless. It makes the genuinely good person he becomes eventually in 5 more impactful.
Also, he reminds me of John Bender in The Breakfast Club, honestly.
He doesn't become a good person in later games, not is he a strictly bad person in this game in my opinion. He doesn't want anyone getting close to him because everyone who he ever loved or had a connection to was murdered, and he is still on a crusade to find out who ruined his and his brother's life. Keeping distance is everything he was ever taught, by his mom, by what happend in his life, etc. Also, the reason why he is extra cold to Lady is because he sees everything as personal and doesn't recognise other people's burdens as his own, since in his mind, everything revolves around his past, his trauma, and his brother who decided to betray the legacy of his father. He is blinded by those emotions because he is young and it's a very triggering situation for him, not because he's bad.

I think Dante being inside the leviathan is suppose to be a homage to dmc1's hell levels since the idea's that you're inside of something that's alive.

Honestly idk why y'all are so surprised Dante acts this way. He's an 18 year old who lives alone, went through puberty in complete social isolation, has a plethora of unresolved emotional issues, and his only living relative actively tries to kill him. It's a wonder he's not a terrorist at this point.
It's just jarring since this isn't the character we're used to xD Dante is much more chill in the games we've played so far XD

Dante's clothes are red since he's a reference to Dante Alighieri - the author of Divine Comedy, the main reference for Devil May Cry. Also they want the main character to be stand out from the gloomy atmosphere.

9: When Lady’s left alone there’s a close up shot of a bullet with “9 mm” on it.

Also;
I can’t answer all your questions but I can say he’s not wearing a shirt because he sort of rushed through getting ready since the demons kinda jumped him out of nowhere and decided he didn’t need the shirt.
Also I’d say the boots are because he has to walk through so much gross shit.
As for why he’s such a dick who doesn’t care about anything, that’s part of his character arc in this game, getting a better reason to become a full time demon hunter other than just “It’s fun”.

You forgot Mission 8 at the beginning. The “8” can be seen when Dante gets up from his defeat by Vergil; look at the Moon, the two craters you see are the “8”.

Dante didn't do anything wrong.
He doesn't wear a shirt cause itsuno wanted the player to see Dante's abs at all times. Don't believe me? Then why is the no coat no shirt an unlockable costume in the game?
That's the only reason why this game should be remade, so we can see the abs in 4k
Yeha Nevan is a pretty annoying fight to be honest but the weapon she gives you? Holly cow, best weapon concept in all of DMC

I love the mission 11 cutscene cause that marble pathway where Arkham is laying is NOWHERE near where he got stabbed.
Vergil got him near the door to the Lair of Judgement, which is across the last bridge, down the huge spiral staircase, and through the hallways filled with Damned Chess pieces. He crawled that far. across a separated bridge, just to play dead, lmao

Also... I don't know if you've ever played any fighting games but there is a common archetype in 2d fgs where there is a zoner, someone who controls a lot of space and throws projectiles, and who also has access to a reversal- an invulnerable move. The reason why you think the Nevan fight is boring is because you don't recognise how to avoid and punish her reversal twirl. You are supposed to rush her down, she is just not supposed to be completely helpless afterwards.
Lastly, I just want to say sorry that you don't enjoy that part of the game or Dante's character in this one. It's not your fault and I hope you still enjoy the rest of the game, all three of you. Cheers

And what we mean with not trusting Dante with ladies is the fact that so far in this game he just keeps flirting with each woman he encounters in gross/unflattering ways 😂 Like flirting with Lady while she's grieving and telling her tragic backstory is not the time for that stuff 😅

You didn't ask, but Ebony and Ivory were made by Neil Goldstein, custom made for Dante's fast trigger finger, she died finishing them as her last masterpiece, there's a misspelling in the engravings that Dante refuses to fix, as it's an homage to her son

Damn, now these were the totally opposite reactions to DMC3 Dante. It's not DMC is known for narrative heavy moments(3 being by far the closest one with that, with actual character arcs) but basically Dante's attitude in basically heavy ammounts of Coping. While Vergil got all serious and fully embraces his demon heritage, Dante ignored all of that, at that point i think he was even using a fake name, and puts a playful persona

Little fun fact, the Leviathans stomach is actually a doorway to one of the seven hells. Basically, when you got swallowed, you got plopped into a seperate dimension entirely.

So, before you complete dmc3, there are two options you have.
A. You can play the dmc reboot/remake, now, I've heard some people say it's as bad as 2, I don't know if it's that bad but it is generally hated by the community. Once you've done that, play dmc4 and leave the series on a high note. Also, dmc4 has Nero. Or B. You can just play dmc4 and not touch the reboot. It's your choice.
We'll probably play the reboot after 4 since we are planning to end our DMC series by replaying 5 o3o Like come back to that one after all the other games and just reflect on what happened xD

don't forget to buy purple orbs to increase your devil trigger
also once you buy the purple orbs you can hold a devil trigger button to charge it and it'll do a huge explosion doing big damage
A little tip, you should not have use your guns as often as you should have and you could attack nevan at almost any time with melee, if you did the fight would have gone infinitely better for you all, you turned her into a dmc2 boss
Fun fact: When Nevan does that lifesteal attack and you get grabbed, she'll drain your health and regenerates.

The hating for dante is real
This has probably been said a lot already, but the reason Dante is so rude to Mary/Lady is because due to things that happened in the manga and other media, Dante doesn’t want to get close to anyone.
As all the people that have helped him at that point has died. And he don't want to get anyone else close to him only get hurt again.
Dante is only doing the wacky behaviour to hide the pain he actually feels and you can see his true self in the end cutscene before the credits where he is crying because he thinks he lost the last living member of his family in hell.
Still would've been really nice if the comics were presented in the game itself since the context is pretty important, without it Dante just comes of as a brat and a jerk for no reason (like his behavior was super jarring for us since we started with DMC5) xD
