@frankpellegrino7448 I agree with your point, but these bikes aren't for the "Harley rider." They are for introducing New Riders and normal customers to motorcycling and the brand.
I dreamed of having a Harley for a long time. I just broke down and decided to get a motorcycle license. When i was researching bikes, brands and the cost, to my surprise Harley was not even in the ball park of what i needed to start off. I then looked at Triumph speed 400. Nice bike right price. It was just not the right cc for what i needed. So i looked at Honda Rebel 500. It was promising but something not quite right with it. They did not want to put decent tech on it. Everything cost extra making the price go through the roof. My next thought was Kawasaki Z500 SE. Still that is not what i really wanted. Then I discovered the right bike with the right power at the right price. CFMoto 450 CLC. Chinese! WTF. I read review after review and everyone that owns a CFMoto loves it. I have slowly come to the conclusion that CFMoto is the only manufacture that is listening to the customer. They give all the right tech in a great style with a progression from starter bike to advanced bikes. All of them with no extra cost for tech and give it to you at a competitive and affordable price. Go ahead and keep Harley in business. Until they make an effort to target new riders and give them a planned progression at an affordable price, the dream for me is dead. If new riders are doing what i am doing, Harley is going to be on the decline. No longer do you have to be rich to have a decent motorcycle. No way i am going to buy a Harley for $18000 when i get the same quality same type of bike, and same power for no more that $8000. With Harley you are spending $10000 on brand name for a company that is moving to Thailand. End of story.
Well these bikes are not for us current Harley riders! For that matter the last many years of Harleys have a shit ton of foreign made parts on them so what is the difference? Would love to see these here! I can tell you if they don't do something they are going down and you can take that to the bank.
Back in the AMF days, Harley imported Italian made dirt bikes, so it wouldn't be the first time the HD name was put on foreign made motorcycles. These are bikes that aren't being made in the US to begin with, so it wouldn't be a case of losing American jobs. I do have some qualms about China however. That said there are many of us who don't want a big cruiser or a sport bike, but just a fun medium motorcycle, a market which is under served right now.
I wholeheartedly agree. If the bike was made in India, or the Philippines, I’d have no problem with it. But I will not support the Chinese government, I have nothing against the people, just the government
There is a HUGE difference between a bike made in Italy (think Ducati and Ferrari) and a bike made in China, America's biggest enemy. What they need to do is bring back the EVO powered 883 Sportster, made in America, but NOT FLAT BLACK. Give it bright shiny paint, polished aluminum, and lots of chrome.
You are 100% correct on this topic, I couldn't agree more. Time to recruit new riders through something besides (the coolest) retro knuck, pan and shovel choppers. The Sportster shouldn't be the only answer. Subscribed the channel because of this video.
I can't imagine HD having success with those machines. They need small bikes, but those small bikes must be competitive or nobody will buy them These Chinese machines don't have any Harley styling cues other than the label on the tank, nor are they competitive in performance to small bikes from Triumph, Royal Enfield, or Honda. Harley should team up with an experienced Indian company like Bajaj, who makes the Triumph Speed and Scrambler 400s. Fantastic little bikes with the same quality level and styling cues as the British made Triumphs. Triumph shows how to do this the right way.
So ignorant. If it drives the price down to affordability and delivers the same quality and character, I don’t care where the bike was made or assembled.
@@diegolopezzz18 Coming out in support of communism and slave labor is certainly "progressive" of you. China is famed for the quality and character of their products. 😆
The Previous HD CEO that got fired had plans to sell Entry Level bikes. Harley bought in Aermacchi in Italy and imported small bikes two stroke bikes ect.
I think it would be to Harley's advantage to have a more entry level bike on their dealership floors. I don't necessarily think it should be from China though. I just bought a Triumph T120.
They should have been doing that in the 70's when the Japanese invaded America with their bikes. I could have grown up on a H-D but, I waited until 2005 to buy my Buell which was a great deal compared to any other H-D bike and I've always been a sport bike rider. I bought an XB12SCG which was more upright than the Firebolt and it was an awesome bike but, they also need engine types other than V-Twin. My Buell even had way more bang for bike than even the Sportster. Even when I was shopping for the bike the dealers weren't trying to sell them. When H-D let Buell go off into the sunset on their own I was done with them.
If you take a rider academy course with HD, those are the bikes they use to train new riders. Imagine how many enthusiastic riders would want to buy the bike they learned on. If they had those bikes on the floor, I can see where a lot of people, especially a lot of younger riders, would go straight into the dealership after getting their certificate and buy an X350
My Harley dealer sells Royal Enfield. Don’t think they are made here. However, the 450 is a pretty good starter bike. So, I guess they do offer a starter bike already!
Those that think Harley is US made bikes, well guess again. They are moving their manufacturing to Thailand. Personally I'm going for CFMoto. I don't care if it is Chinese or not. At least they are innovative. They try to make a good motorcycle at an affordable price. If you look at their manufacturing plant it looks like an operating room except for a Motorcycle. Its clean, systematic and precision. Which is why almost all brands are having most of the parts made in china. CFMoto is new on the US market but in the last 10 years they have made waves equal to what the Japanese did when they first came to US. I cant wait to say hello to MY CFMoto 450 CLC at the low low price of $5799.00. Go suck it Harley!!! I will have fun on a motorcycle and without breaking the bank.
Well, I didn't mention that motorcycle in this video. But you bring up a good point. it is a shame that Honda is not bringing that bike to the States because it is going to be a riot to ride
@brucesantacory1390 that's pretty crazy when you think about it. I mean Honda figured out a way to make the rebel 300 and 500 pass emissions. Triumph figured out a way to make the 400 Scrambler and speed 400 pass emissions. You would think it would be easy, especially for a company that gets 114 cubic inch v-twins to pass emissions.
I would like to see Harley build their own, so it meets the Requirements and when i say that build them in Mexico, or Brazil or the new plant in Thailand i don't care, but the CX bikes are built by the same Chinese company that builds the same bike for Benelli sold with their badging but Europe is ok with the Emissions of the bike, but the USA is not and Harley knows how to build one to meet the standards.
@@brucesantacory1390 it should be exceedingly easy to get these motorcycles to pass us emission standards if they pass anywhere near what a European Standard would be. Triumph passes the 400 cc engine in the Scrambler and in the speed 400. Honda has no problem getting the 300 and 500 Rebels to pass. Pretty strange that Harley-Davidson can get humongous V-Twin engines to pass but for some reason this little guy won't.
I would certainly buy and recommend a smaller Harley and it would probably be made overseas. Its a small world. I wouldn't recommend a Chinese Harley though. The present government is China is a dangerous tyranny and I don't want to support them.
@@phillipcox7946 the problem with that is that everything that you buy either comes from China or has significant component percentage come from china. Everything from food and clothing to durable goods has in whole or in part a significant tie to the CCP
The reason they won't bring them here is because at some point in history Harley made a promise to only sell bikes in the USA that are manufactured here. They need to ditch that promise and bring them entry level bikes here if they want to rekindle the brand with newer and younger riders.
100%. Harley needs to sell inexpensive bike here in the US
Harley riders will never buy a Chinese motorcycle. End of story.
