I love the new gingerbread golem bant commander, he can be great as golem tribal, but more interestingly he can be a cool comboish etb ltb deck that creates a bunch of tokens. Absolute value train.
Currently brewing for the Ice Queen Hylda! I've added creatures like Abzan Battle Priest and Abzan Falconer so with them on the field when I give all my creatures and elemental tokens +1/+1 counters they all get flying and lifelink which is insanely good.
@@eriksonsmyth2819 they would have to get a +1/+1 counter on them first but essentially yes! You’d use her to make the tokens and then put the counters on them which with her ability, all your creatures get them so it’s a-really potent board state I’d say :)

Great video! I love how in-depth you go and how passionate and knowledgeable you both are. Only thing I'd say is you both seem to kinda talk over each other a lot which I can see comes from a place of excitement and wanting to get your thoughts out but I just would love to be able to hear your thoughts individually and not overlapping. Awesome content as always tho and so many great commanders from this set.
I am most interested in building Hylda. If you want to keep the Junkwinder loop going just run Intruder Alarm and a mana dork. Or you can run Opposition instead of Junkwinder. With those cards on the field you can make infinite tokens. To address the opponents not having creatures problem, just run Forbidden Orchard.
Beluna Grandsquall is my vote for best legend in the set. She has serious cEDH combo potential. Since she’s your commander when you cast her Adventure you can just put her back in the command zone to cast the Adventure again. This means with infinite mana you have an infinite mill outlet on demand in the command zone, letting you mill your entire deck, put every Adventure card into your hand, then use an Adventure from a creature like Tlincalli Hunter to put Thassa’s Oracle from the GY into exile then recast it for the win. She also acts as a huge value piece, being a cheap 3 cost commander that makes your Adventure creatures cheaper. So she can be on board until you need to bounce her to hand (a lot of Adventures do this) and start the Adventure loop from there. Beluna Grandsquall is absolutely the best legend in WOE. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
My favourite in this selection is probably Talion, because I do like a bit of Dimir Control. But from the whole set, I think I'm most excited for getting Eriette. The pseudo goad means I can play around with pumping up opponents' creatures and have them battle each other while I sit back and life drain the board.
I think Eriette of the Charmed Apple is a amazing commander to play. I am going to transform my Daxos the Returned deck with more aura's then enchantments and drain the table
There are so many fun Commanders in this set! I'm looking forward to seeing all the new brews at my LGS. Also, going to CommandFest 2023 in Portland in October and I bet a bunch are going to be there as well. I hadn't originally planned on building any of the new Commanders from Wilds of Eldraine, but I'm definitely taking another look at maybe replacing some of my existing decks to transition into some new ones.
An idea I have for Talion will be a deck that focuses on returning cards back to people's hands, both opponents and yourself. Forcing opponents to possibly trigger Talion again to get something back. And many of my other creatures will have ETB effects. So if not just forcing opponents to take damage of recasting and giving myself a draw, I will have something coming back to do other things. I know the bottleneck might be in being able to recast.
Fun fact about Yenna, if you have a way to Flicker the original enchantment, you can activate Yenna in the same turn and then return the original enchantment. So instead of 2 copies of a single enchant, you can have 3!
Everyone is going on and on about Hylda and Eriette, but I'm more excited for Agatha. Lotta cool ways to build her and reducing ability costs can be pretty strong.
Right now I'm building Greta, Sweettooth Scourge. I know she's probably not the best Food commander, but that makes it all the more challenging to build her. I just ordered Gyome, Master Chef for her earlier. Feel like he's good in the 99. I'm gonna have so much fun building around her! Wanted to build her when she got teased in the previews!
I think the Black/White queen/Eriette is also a potential good one you missed. And Totentanz is German for Dodendans, in english Dance of Death. It is a symphonie by Frans Liszt and is also known under the name Danse Macabre. ✌️ The original is dated from 1849 if not mistaken.
@@moritzvuckovic2220 well then the translation is off. Since I see that nobody has commented on this: no, you can't choose a non-integer with Talion. Anything that asks you to choose a number requires an integer. (See rule 107.1a.)
Interesting that Murph jumped in for the Anointed Procession correction but not on Talion. Their ability says choose a number, and the Magic rules say that the only numbers in Magic are integers (no fractions, imaginary numbers, etc.). So you need to pick 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10.

Hi. I'm a long time player and fan of the Command Zone podcast. Rachel Weeks is imo a genius level deck creator. That being said, Instill Energy in fact allows creatures with tap effects to use them immediately. Reprints and errata corroborates this.

I’ve always wanted to build an efficient group slug deck and Rowan seems an amazing way to out in all the great group slug enchantments but you aren’t limited to any one card type.
Hylda goes infinite with an Intruder Alarm, Fate stitcher, and mana dork like ornithopter of paradise. Tap an opponent's creature, pay one with a dork to make a 4/4, untap Fatestitcher and dork, and finally profit. Infinite 5/5s assuming you pump the team after.

I thought of Zada too, but surely for it to be more effective than just Fiery Emancipation you'd need more than 3 creatures out right? And I guess it's gonna be hard to get enough creatures in the deck for that to be worth it
I think something you guys neglected with the new Will is how broken he can be by focusing on burst lifegain and alternative win conditions. Laboratory maniac and a 'draw x cards' spell can be really insane with alhammaret's archive, for instance. You mentioned Aetherflux reservoir which is an obvious include, but also throw Steel of the Godhead and Light of Promise on Will to swing an unblockable 50/50 commander at someone. Test of Endurance is suddenly very achievable in this deck, since you have counterspells to stop its removal. Same with Felidar Sovereign. Glad you guys mentioned Approach of the Second Sun, but I feel like you missed some of the really fun potential win conditions that Will can easily get out!
I might have missed it but I dont think you mentioned that enchantments and auras that can sacrifice themselves can be doubled over and over for an etb or constellation trigger
This is probably win more, but Precursor Golem (along with twinflame and heat shimmer) are pretty cute additions to Imodane. You can pretty straightforwardly 8x the damage of a single burn spell to each opponent.
I threw together a stack of cards for Hylda already! My meta loves to run creature heavy decks so freezing all their stuff is gonna be great! (Also I feel like snow lands is a must!)
Imodane is neat but I think most people will use it wrong like they did with solphim. The defender will choose the order they take damage on multiple instances of damage increase, sometimes not relevant but if you're good at math you should be fine.
Cool episode! I have a question: can you tap Rowan at the beginning of your turn and then keep losing life to increase the discount on your spells or you have to lose the life first and then tap her? I'm a bit confused with the wording!
The short answer is no in order to do what you want you need to tap her multiple times as actions that check a game state, from an activated ability check from what has been seen. In order to be tricky in how much life you want to lose you have a way to tap her multiple times or copy her ability as long as you don't end your turn you will get the affect multiple times. Because she is providing a mana discount and not adding mana to your mama pool the affect will stand between phases. However you have the ability to hold priority as active player so what you can do is tap her for let's say you lost 5 life. Cast a small spell, let that resolve, hold your priority find a way to get a copy of her, untapped her etc. Then cast another spell at a bigger discount. I would however generally recommend against complicated lines of sequence especially at tabletop. Know your lines good enough to speak in shorthand but be willing to play it out at an LGS
Look into the makemark cycle from Guildpact. They are auras that effect all enchanted creatures you control. Green and White are not that great but I love the Black and Blue effects.
I feel like rowan could be good with a small aristocrats package to gain back the life that you lost to be playing the spells for free mana without even needing to use life
I want to build totentanz and will most off of this list. Those are probably 2 of my top 3 I'd want from wilds of eldraine (1st is Agatha, which I already built)
Second question, For like Crackle of Power, I am assuming the Tap effect of Rowan Does not reduce the X multiple times, right? if you take 8 damage, it's not basically paying 8 for each of hte X's
this might be my opinion, but Ellivere > Gylwain. the card draw on her is nuts. but they are both great wait... Totentanz is death dance or dance of death in German. yeah Toten Tanz literally means "dead dance" so dance of death or something of the sort. waw, Rachel, getting her "Europe" groove on at the end there with a final countdown pipe song. Hopefully, that didn't demonetize the video lol. I really wanna build a Rat deck, but I think it's just gonna be mono black, but Totentanz seems interesting. Rowan seems very powerful
Eriette is my pick, but I'm a bit bias because Magali can't miss on her Orzhov commanders, and she has hit on back-to-back enchantress commanders. Anikthea in Commander Masters, and now Eriette in WoE! Lastly, Eriette + Light-Paws = game over for any of these other commanders.
Honestly I think obyra should also be in the debate for one of the best faerie commanders. The amount of life you can drain just by simply doing what you should be doing with a faerie deck (making faerie tokens) if insane. Plus the support to turn it into an aristocrat deck is also hard to turn up. I’m not saying she is the best, but she absolutely should be in discussions
looking at all the cards for the new set I saw Yenna and thought, "okay copying enchantments is fun, I get it" and then I cam across Three Blind Mice - chapters 2 and 3 are both "copy token" but what if its a Three Blind Mice token? what was that you mentioned, Parallel Lives and Annointed Procession? thats a lot of Three Blind Mice
So, just a thought, but with Yenna... Could you in theory copy sth, say, Smothering Tithe, then blink the copy with sth that puts it into exile and gets it back to you at the end of your turn, then immediately tap Yenna again to copy it and end up with 3 copies without Annointed Procession etc in play?
Which commanders do you think are the most powerful Commanders in the set? Are you planning on building any of the Commanders we talked about today? What are the hot pieces of tech that we missed?
Eriette should have made the list!

in a will deck, one might consider Chaplins Blessing. 1w gain 5 life which reads. 1w all spells cost 5 less
That’s such a flex, “did it today at lunch” just casually blowing up citadels 😂
Imodane also does crazy stuff with Grafted Exoskeleton. Just poison all your opponents for very little effort.
I threw together a stack of cards for Hylda already! My meta loves to run creature heavy decks so freezing all their stuff is gonna be great! (Also I feel like snow lands is a must!)
Sterling Grove can be multiple enchantment tutors as they sacrifice themselves. Making the card a "nonbo" for only a short time.
Imodane is neat but I think most people will use it wrong like they did with solphim. The defender will choose the order they take damage on multiple instances of damage increase, sometimes not relevant but if you're good at math you should be fine.
I am planning on making a budget build of Hylda. Another white/blue deck to play alongside my Kwain deck.
Rachel content 🙌 also I think I’m too old to understand this Role mechanic, I’ll stick to my Ashling 😤
Hylda resembles my first Standard deck that I did not even know how to play. Maybe it’s time I give freezing effects another chance 🥶
Much prefer the format of just chatting about commanders you like.
this might be my opinion, but Ellivere > Gylwain. the card draw on her is nuts. but they are both great
wait...
Black Market Connections full send with Rowan, seems good.
"Totentanz" is the German word for "Dance of Death". He may based on the Tale: "The Pied Piper of Hamelin".
Imodane also wants a ravaging blaze for when you really need one of your opponents dead.
Talion and Rowan are gonna become cEDH commanders so ya they are crazy
Immodane could probably have some pretty cool stuff going on in a Feather deck
I love Murphy coming in with the replacement effects. Please keep doing that on rules mistakes.
No Korvold, Gleeful Glutton?
He'll be in our next WOE Commander episode!
That moment when you already have a Rhoda//Timin deck and Wizards spoils the w/u archetype for Wilds of Eldraine 🤩
looking at all the cards for the new set I saw Yenna and thought, "okay copying enchantments is fun, I get it" and then I cam across Three Blind Mice - chapters 2 and 3 are both "copy token" but what if its a Three Blind Mice token? what was that you mentioned, Parallel Lives and Annointed Procession? thats a lot of Three Blind Mice
Nylea’s colossus is so good in gylwain, play a creature double target creatures power and that creature probably has trample from gylwain too
Does Rowan See life lost after she gets tapped? Or does it only count how much you lost before tapping
I'm debating between...
(1. Will, Scion of Peace
(2. Bernard, Ginger Sculpture
(3. Imodane, the Pyrohammer.
