We can see him pushing that button at 0,45 entering the straight to the Ascari - 1,01 entering the straight to Parabolica - 1,17entering the main straight - I'd go for him setting the g.box in ultrafast autom. downshifting mode. Just an attempt,of course.......
@mallamoozoo - may I just point out that Clark (alas ...I was in my childhood) was really known to be as fast as clever.Smart management of the engine and gearbox, smooth driving to preserve reliability and great speed at the same time. This attitude was common to Clark and Jackye Stewart: they both were quite similar to the Professor indeed.Differently from Prost they both were extremely fast on the wet and more daring overall.
@lucianoestivill - that's a good point Luciano ! Often pure skill (and Prost had plenty of it) sometimes needs a daring attitude to fully shine ! Of course ...why taking risks on one wet race..one upon a dozen still to go !I know his brain was revving as fast as his engines :):):) No doubt about Alain's immense talent, but on the wet a very special feeling rules between driver and car : we had average drivers which could outclass the top ones on the wet. Can't still guess why !
Entering the straight to Parabolica he does press or switch sth on the steering wheel with his right thumb, and out of the parabolica he again does touch the same button as far as I can see...
Im huge fan of senna but what a lap by the professor Alain Prost. Sure one of the best drivers!!!
Una buena época.
