@@SS_Gang777 another block would be cheaper but as we see u never know what u gonna get even if it seems to be running fine until u open that thang up…but im no mechanic or professional so ima see what WRebuildz say 👀
I love to see you and your son out there getting it bro he gone be serious wit them motors by the time he 25 tell him stay focused from uncle Spank🫡🫡💯💪🏽‼️
Good video! If it were me and I was doing it with my son, I would take it all it all the way down and just rebuild it home garage style. You can still use most of existing parts. Maybe new rings, bearings and such… but at that point that’s pretty inexpensive considering that motor will be completely gone thru with the peace of mind you did it with / for your son. Get yourself a ball hone or rent a cylinder hone from Oreilly’s to clean up the cylinders some, get the crank serviced and you set. Plus he’ll learn even more along the way.
I think the head gone either need replaced or get it shaved, it ain’t too bad like you say it look like something got trapped in it but definitely still rebuildable 🔥💪🏾
If the cylinder walls got damage just bore up the engine and get a used head for that side it should be fine.. and definitely will need a new piston might as well upgrade
Good look bro!! I personally think the 8th cylinder had some detonation issues. But, I'm definitely no pro! For peace of mind I would go through it completely. New cam kit, freshen up the heads, maybe throw a different intake on it (some say the stock intake perform well for this setup), and a tune! He'll be in bizness fosho. Great vid!
A 16 yr old wouldn't appreciate the difference in his $1200 rebuild vs a 5k rebuild. Replace the piston, check the rod bearings for unusual damage, if none. Button it back up, and move on. But make sure to mic the cylinders to ensure they are not out of round and are within spec from top to bottom. If you skip this step and they are out of spec, you will have a strong running oil burner. Learn from my mistake lol.
@@87SSBOI I just stop by there for some metric sockets and went over there to purchase a battery charger and one of the workers told me the sale was going on, so I copped it
Def gone need to get a new piston and head if I was u ill go forged pistons and rods get ur blocked honed and crank polished as well def go in the block just all new internals and new pushrods
You have no choice but to do a full rebuild on it now look at like egg that gets cracked it’s going to dry out so they got dip the block clean the block honing the block clean all the rust that’s going to form from you busting it down not getting it built at the same time you got a full rebuild on your hands you just didn’t realize it
That cylinder was dead getting washed with fuel for whatever reason block is still probably able to be rebuilt👍🏿
Yessuh Willie...we ain't giving up✊🏾...going to machine shop get checked out n whatever else..thanks bro
Question. Would having this fixed at a machine shop be worth it ? Cost wise instead of pulling another one ?

👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Putting that work in!!
Detonation is the cause of that. Most likely weak coil pack or fuel injector stuck open
Word! Man that sounds about right..thanks🫡

Never cut a corner on a used engine when its condition is unknown.
Congratulations on 10k subscribers 👏
Appreciate it 💯💯💯
Yes sir 87!!! Passing down knowledge is what we are meant to do. Somewhere that has been lost in modern society.
🫡💯💯
Push rods place through cardboard to keep in order
Yea that's what we normally do 👌🏾📝
New valvetrain components won't require the "cardboard staging" method.
My son 17 I’m still tryna get him into the old schools 🤦🏾♂️the cutlass still his hopefully he come around when I get it together
Hopefully bro!!! That will be great for y'all to work on together👌🏾🫡

I think you can rebuild that block replace piston valves everything else finish tearing it down and send the block n heads to the machine shop 💯💯
Yea that's the plan bro!!! Do it right for my sanity..I done cut corners before and got burned later..I'ma tryna get burned again 😂
@@87SSBOI 😂😂😂Ik that’s RonG do it right the first time and be done with it 💯💯💯

I prefer to build it like it was for you dont get it tune to full potential. That set up can be governed swaps are perfect for teens
You right frfr 🫡
@ find a set of pistons or really one piston . put it back together cylinder walls look good rods are good stay on track
Is that the 3/8 Hercules impact or 1/2 inch
It's the 1/2 inch but it's the least powerful one they have...they have 2 more that's stronger than this one
The pistons looks shot .Bore and stroke the engine and replace with new parts.
