Thanks John. Helps the younger generation T3 lovers. Helped me a lot, did the same job. Temperature stays way lower with the 80°! You have the same?
Hi there Harold. I does not have a digital temp gauge on my water temp, so I really don't know. The original temp gauge is always in the first 1/4 of the needle travel. And the engine has never overheated.
Did mine on a JX was leaking through the spindle put it back together and still a leak took it off again still leaked after a few trys found I had a warped thermostat housing as well. Only leaked when engine was cold.
Good tip, the plastic housing you mean? Will check mine for the same if it still leaks
When I replaced my water pump I replaced the thermostat housing with an aluminium one. The plastic housings just don't last.

Hi. The VW Jetta Rabbit Scirocco Thermostat Housing Coolant Flange made from aluminium is the one that I ordered. It is used on various VW models.
