The scene where Mister Incredible realized all his superheros friends are dead is one of the greatest moments of animation for me.
It's a powerful moment any way.
Also, Edna naming off all the people killed by their capes, and they were at Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl's wedding. Cuts deep, but she didn't want him getting hurt.
Yes!!😭😭😭
@@zairac2564 yeah..
Absolutely
Fun fact: the director, Brad Bird, initially got the original voice of Miss Frizzle from Magic School Bus to do the voice of Edna, and when Brad Bird did an impression of what he wanted her to sound like she said he was so good that he should just do the voice himself. So Edna was voiced by Brad Bird
Another fun fact: George Lucas created the Pixar system. He sold it to Steve Jobs to fulfill the terms of his divorce from his first wife. Jobs then sold it to Disney for way more than he paid for it
Lily Tomlin was Miss Frizzle? The things you learn.

The Incredibles broke ground in a lot of new ways. Pixar’s first CG-film to be fully based around human characters. On top of that, it deals with lots of mature themes such as suicide, infidelity and genocide (in terms of the death of all the supers). Probably my favorite Pixar film. Such a genius screenplay by Brad Bird
It broke ground - enough said. That's more than most reboot-obsessed popular entertainment can say for itself these days. I give it full marks for actually bothering to write a fresh story.
@@jzero4813 yes, he was able to write an original story in 2004. I don't think you can even comprehend how difficult it is nowadays to think of something completely original. We're talking 17 years later at present. 10s upon 100s of shows and movies have been pitched and created since then. Originality is the rarest thing, not because of people wanting to make things the same, but because *everything* has been exhausted by now.
@Luke Sanchez uh... when the man attempted suicide.
@Luke Sanchez that's the whole start to the supers being sued. Mr Incredible saved the guy from jumping to his death. He said "you didn't save my life, you ruined my death"
@Luke Sanchez Bruh, pay attention to the movie, not that hard.
Then again, you are subbed to CinemaSins, so it's not surprising you're just like them
In the end, it was Syndrome who met his biggest fan.
that's cold . . .
also I love how Syndrome was supposed to be a one-scene villain and the test audience liked him more, so Brad rewrote the entire dang film.
@@coulsonintahiti woah thats insane. What were the original plot?
@@ma.2089 i actually don't know much, just that Hellen's ex was the big bad.

This is one of the most iconic animated movies made by Pixar
Also Edna is a movie in herself best Character
Creation and voice - In addition to creating the character, writer and director Brad Bird also provides the voice of Edna
Edna is deserving of her own film. 100%

Big Brain
Has he watched Rango yet?
Another amazing movie.
Despicable Me. It and Megamind both deal with supervillains as main characters.
Megamind took the superhero genre and flipped it on its head. Made fun of its own genre, but wasn't just a parody either.
To see exactly why the babysitter was freaking out, check out the short film "Jack Jack Attack."
An excellent short!
*SPOILER ALERT FOR INCREDIBLES 2*
Considering what happens in Incredibles 2, it's annoying this wasn't implemented into that film really. It goes a long way in explaining why the family aren't suspicious Jack Jack has powers. Even then though, the real question is why didn't the guy that mindwiped the babysitter tell the family what she saw. Clearly, retconning was done to make Incredibles 2 work, as this simply doesn't make sense. If I were to retcon things, I could put the short in the sequel's opening, and make it so that the mindwiper comically accidentally mindwipes himself too! This will allow none to truly be the wiser to Jack Jack's abilities. I'm a GENIUS!
*EDIT*
Actually, now that I think about it, the family should question the mindwiped babysitter's story anyway, as in any case, she wouldn't remember that the family seemed to call a replacement babysitter who arrived at the house, or her anxiety-ridden responses to whatever Jack Jack was doing regarding the phone messages she left for the family. I guess no matter what way one tries to spin it, Incredibles 2 simply doesn't make sense regarding the Jack Jack situation. Noticeably, at the end of the first film, when the Underminer arrives to cause havoc, Jack Jack has a mask on his eyes, implying he's honed his abilities to some degree, and is even ready to do battle himself! This sounds rather crazy in and of itself, but considering he seems very powerful, if he managed to master his power set, I guess I could see this happening. Plus, the more lenient world of animation, of course, comes into play now.

I saw it at the theatre as well.
Fun fact for those who didn't know: Brad Bird (the director) voiced Edna Mode. She's half Japanese/half German and she presented the Best Costume Design Oscar at the 2004 Academy Awards alongside Pierce Brosnan
Fun fact about the score:
Composer Michael Giacchino purchased older microphones and only used a jazz ensemble with solos to give the movie an older feel, and make it feel like it really did take place in the 70s
Chad move
this music is incredible, props to michael giacchino
He gave it a totally 60's era Bond type style feel to the score.
the ratatouille score he did is also a masterpiece
@@minnesotajones261 also, take 5 by dave brubeck was popular in the 60’s, and it’s in a 5/4 time; the main theme is also 5/4. so there you go 😂
@@minnesotajones261 Some of the music is almost directly from one of the early bond films. It's the music during the skiing chase scene in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Watch that scene and you'll hear it; parts are almost exactly the same.
@@minnesotajones261 The original story reels used 60s Bond music as the scratch soundtrack, in particular On Her Majesty's Secret Service. John Barry, who wrote those Bond scores, was the original choice to score The Incredibles, but he declined, thinking he couldn't really go back to duplicate that sound, and that the movie deserved someone who could be "perky and fresh."

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this to you yet, but one of the things I always found so interesting was how each of the main family's superpowers mimicked archetypes of their familial role:
Mr. Incredible with his strength - men are always expected to be "strong" pillars for their families.
Mrs. Incredible as Elastagirl - mothers are often pulled in a thousand different ways and are expected to be flexible in everything they do.
Violet's forcefield/invisibility powers - because teenagers are often insecure and defensive, and want to blend in as much as possible.
Dash with his super speed - because kids his age are often full of energy and excitement.
Jack-Jack as seemingly the jack-of-all-trades - babies are wild cards and full of unlocked potential, you never know what's going to come from them.
It's really cool to especially see them all have their own little character arcs in the movie that subvert their own archetype tropes.
One of my favorite things about this movie as well. It's the little details like this that make it an excellent film!
14:21 Spider-Man Into The Spider Verse when Peter told Miles "No Capes" reminded me of these cape scenes 😂
To be fair, the idea was originally taken from the Watchmen comic by Alan Moore, where a character was shot dead when he got his cape caught in a revolving door. That comic also had the idea of superheroes being outlawed after some McCarthy-esque hearings.
"Be flexible", "No capes" and "Where's my super suit?"
memorable memes from this movie, that now shape the internet as we know it.
......... _you're welcome_ , kids.
Fun fact in Finding Nemo the little kid in the Dentist office waiting room, he's reading a Mr. Incredible comic book
One of the cars on the street in the final battle is Doc Hudson from Cars. They almost always put in a character from the next movie
In toy story 3 lightning McQueen from cars makes an appearance in the first scene at the daycare in preparation for cars 2
In toy story 3 lightning McQueen from cars makes an appearance in the first scene at the daycare in preparation for cars 2

One of my favorite fan theories is that edna made syndromes suit, she knew he was bad so gave him a cape

It’s a fun theory but I feel like Syndrome would have too much of an ego to not make his own
@@chainsawboy2388 that is factual
"greater good? I am your wife! I am the greatest good you're ever gonna need!" Favorite line
One of the best things about this movie is that even though all the characters had super powers, the real conflict was all the real-world problems that they had. Bob and Helen couldn’t reconcile their identities and responsibilities, the kids struggled with hiding what made them special, and Syndrome grew to hate his childhood hero because of rejection. None of these things require having super powers to relate to them.

incredibles literally created lure worldbuilding characters/names designs powers and costumes just for moments and story despite them not mattering that much...thats insane to me...it literally started at and showed us the 3rd film in a series honestly...we are are missing out on 2 great prequels
Imagine everyone waited 14 years for the sequel, Pixar did us dirty

They didn't plan making sequel until they ran out of original ideas.
@Luke Sanchez You kidding? That sequel was so good it'd be perfect if you didn't have to judge it against the original.
@@seamusburke639 no its only standout quality was the animation, everything else was not all that

In addition, you should watch Jack-Jack Attack, a short film that shows what happened to the baby and the nanny, which will explain the scene of the nanny phone calls.

Helen:

Bob:

The thing is: if Mr. Incredible hadn't gone "out of hiding", Frozone would've been dead by now, because his location was already known to Syndrome and he was the next target, but since Mr. Incredible showed up, Syndrome changed his plans.
Right after this movie came out, everyone who loved it wanted a sequel, but Pixar was like, "Nah. Here, have some more Toy Story and Cars movies." Took 14 frigging years to get a sequel for this movie.

highly recommend that short too 😂 on one hand that poor teenage girl is traumatized for life but on the other she's tough as hell for winging it on the fly lmfao
Dash has always been my favorite character
Speedy Bart Simpson! (The director, Brad Bird, did work on The Simpsons).
Really, the family seems to be a mix of Family Guy and The Simpsons -
Helen = Lois (a ginger-haired, more assertive mother than Marge).
Bob = Homer (the protagonist had to be smarter than Peter and Homer for the sake of a more grounded, realistic plot, but Bob works for a stingy, heartless, scrawny boss ala Mr. Burns).
Dash = Bart (the rambunctious, energetic, hyperactive, somewhat frustrated, misbehaving young child).
Violet = Meg (the older sister - insecure, sensitive, complains a lot, and a crush is a big priority).
*SPOILER ALERT FOR THE SIMPSONS MOVING FORWARD*
Maggie knows how to handle a gun effortlessly.
Jack Jack - Upon initial inspection, one might assume Jack Jack is far more akin to Stewie than Maggie due to all his hidden schemes, but I think Jack Jack = Maggie (Unlike Maggie and Jack Jack, Stewie is far too developed mentally for his age to be likened to Jack Jack, and is always on top of whatever he's doing. Like Stewie, Maggie and Jack Jack are babies with a secret and possess a lot of hidden power, but are still babies nonetheless regarding intellect).
Even Syndrome is basically Sideshow Bob, an excited sidekick, perceived to be mistreated by a big figure in the world of something, thus turning him evil and making him want revenge too. The scene where Bob sees all the superheroes Syndrome has killed via computer, is like Marge discovering Lyle Lanley's plans regarding the defective monorail in "Marge vs. the Monorail" too. The scenes both contain a suitably horror tone. And if we're talking Incredibles 2 *SPOILER ALERT*
Moving to a new, fancy house, as a family member unknowingly works for a supervillain, is clearly inspired by the episode, "You Only Move Twice".
*EDIT*
I just realised that Bob's boss in the film, actually has the face of Peter's boss from Family Guy! In The Incredibles, he's a midget and wears glasses, but that octagonal, round head, with black hair on the top, definitely looks like Peter's boss.
I also realised Bob attacking his boss in anger, is likely inspired from the episode, "Homer The Smithers", where Homer attacks Mr. Burns in anger after he's given Smithers job, after Smithers is instructed to go on a vacation by Mr. Burns for being too stressed out. Come to think of it, as Bob kept changing jobs due to his powers getting exposed, it reminds me of how Homer's job was changed in the episode, this factor likely being a part of the inspiration.
Damn, I'M GOOD!
*YET ANOTHER EDIT (a reference to The Simpsons episode, "Yet Another Simpsons Clip Show")*
*SPOILER ALERT FOR INCREDIBLES 2*
I just realised that Winston and Evelyn are inspired from The Simpsons episode, "Brother From Another Series". You see, Sideshow Bob and Cecil are siblings in that episode, working on a large-scale project (the dam), and one of them is an evil villain with their own secret agenda (Cecil), while the other one is ignorant of their sibling's evil plans and plans to do good. The good party finds out what the bad party is doing at the end, and there's an action climax too.
*MORE EDITS!*
I just realised inspiration for Incredibles 2 was taken from The Simpsons episode, "Day of the Jackanapes" - Screenslaver's abilities come from Sideshow Bob's ability to hypnotise Bart, and the action climax takes place on a big stage in front of an audience, with a public figure(s) - Krusty here and the superheroes in Incredibles 2. Incredibles 2 also takes inspiration from The Simpsons episode, "New Kids on the Bleech" - Lieutenant Smash's plans for his boy band to secretly manipulate people to enlist in the navy, are thwarted against his wishes, and he aggressively retaliates by going to a far less desired plan B. He is also on a ship that purposefully threatens a group of people. Evelyn's plans to manipulate people to turn on superheroes
are thwarted by Bob and Helen's superhero children, and Evelyn is forced to and aggressively pursues a plan B solution. She also leaves the ship that everyone is on to crash, which will kill them all.
Elasticgirl had me feeling all kinds of positives ways since I was 6 years old.
I swear they made her even thicker in the sequel
Primate needs to watch the animated short Jack-Jack Attack. It shows everything that happened while he was being babysat.
Exactly what I was thinking.
This movie is SO amazing. It shows superheroes as normal people with problems just like anyone else. It combined it all with a killer art deco styling and cool jazzy soundtrack just like you'd see in a 1960s action film. It combined it all with some really great humor.
One of my favorite movies of all time.
I hadn't watched The Incredibles until early this month so you are not the only person who didn't see it in their childhood
20:01 thickness saves lives
Ok I said that same thing 😭😭😭
I just want you to think about this: those of us that saw this movie when it first came out, had to wait fourteen years for the sequel.
The name "Brodie" was an Easter egg -- Jason Lee played Brodie Bruce in the movies "Mallrats" and "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back," and then he does the voice of Syndrome.
Syndrome is considered one of the best villains in Pixar's history. You -- "Man, this guy's annoying!"
He should be a villain more often. I also really enjoyed his villain role in Dogma. Not that his "good guy" characters aren't enjoyable as well. Banky was just as fun!
I have a suggestion for a movie.
The Mummy from 1999. That's the first one and the second one is The Mummy Returns. There's a third one too, but the name escapes me. The Mummy is my number 1 favorite movie.
Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. :)
I wasn't too keen on The Mummy tbh. Made me wish I was watching Raiders Of The Lost Ark instead.
Even though I wasn’t born at this time disney channel provided with this masterpiece
I have a distinct memory of my mom picking me up one Friday after school so that we could go see this. We were absolutely blown away, to the point that we called my other mom as we left the theater, insisting that she come see it instead of heading home after work. We then sat down and watched it a second time with her. It's one of our favorites to this day, and hands down my favorite Pixar film.
that's such a sweet memory :')
Fun fact the dead body he found in the cave was his best friend and in one of the photos a hero named gamma was like his sidekick that why he made that stressed out face when he seen all the hero’s dead
Fun fact: this movie was set in the 1960’s
One of my favorite movies ever. The movie is so rewatchable IMO.
Dude I thought cats stuck in trees was a movie trope, but recently I watched a youtube video of this retired guy that saves cats from trees and that man is BUSY AS HELL :D
Now they need to complete Incredibles with an Incredibles 3
Yeah I agree 100% with that message about Living our Lives the way we want and that we can actually do something we Love instead of having to feel stuck in something we don't want

How could you not show the best moment in the 100 mile dash. The part where he starts running on water, give a giggle and the music goes full blast. That's one of my favorite parts in the movie.
If you're curious about Jack-Jacks powers, there´s a short movie that shows exactly what happened with the babysitter, and it´s one of the most hilarious Pixar shorts ever made! Great reaction!
Fun fact: The timeline for this film when Mr. Incredible saved the guy from his suicide attempt is perfect & actually aligns with real-life laws of saving someone’s life in the late 1940s. For more info, watch Film Theory’s “Can you sue a superhero?”
Did not expect this, but i'm glad you're reacting to it nonetheless lol
26:20 the way that man is looking at them will always crack me up😂
Damn I saw it when I was too young that I can't remember my first reaction. This is gonna be good!
I was an adult when this came out, but I still absolutely loved it! So well done. Definitely in my top 5 animated flicks.
I remember how I felt when walking out of the theater after seeing this. The GBA game was fun too.
Holly Hunter and Craig T. Nelson did amazing jobs playing the voice of the parents. They nailed the realistic approach to married couples that fight, whether they're superheroes or not.
But Edna always steals the movie for me. 😂🤣
The Jack Jack attack short is probably my favorite Pixar short film. Hilarious.
I've watched this movie so many times, love it.
The frozone and his wife scene truly is iconic
For the first time, I realized the foreshadowing with the line, "If everyone is super, no one will be" Dash said it at the beginning and that was Syndrome's plan. And why they didn't want the robot completely dead, so it can adapt to the powers and kill the hero. I never made the connection lol
Dark Fact: When Violet saves Dash, putting them both in the bubble force field, he asks, "how are you doing this?" and she says, "I don't know." She wasn't trying to forcefield save them, she was taking the bullet for him. Her powers just happened to activate.
The family vibes are everything in this movie.

"Did you even have a Childhood!?" My thoughts exactly lol
Someone had such a hype time watching their shaking hand accidentally hit the thumbs down.. that person should rectify their mistake now.
This is still one of my all time favorite Pixar films. I’m middle aged and still love animated films
I thought after like 8 years Incredibles 2 would be bad but it was good I liked it better than the first.
This is the first time that I noticed it, but the movie has Helen and Dash and Syndrome say a similar thing. Dash wants to feel special, and his mom assures him that everyone is special in their own ways, to which Dash says, “That’s just a way to say that no one is.” Then, we get Syndrome say, “When everyone’s Super, no one will be.” It makes me think of the whole”big fish in a small pond” thing. Someone could be great at something, then, they experience the rest of the world and are made to no longer feel as special or unique as they once had. Some people can take it badly and grind to a halt, but, to me, it doesn’t really matter because we’re all individuals. Unless you’re literally trying to copy or be someone else exactly, we each have our own flair in everything we do.
primate's unintentional motivational speech at the end actually really hit & i needed to hear it so thanks king
what I find syndromes death very poetic is primate cause like his inventions they adapt and the only thing hard to penetrate them is themselves ..also he was his own doing aswell with his cape snared in the jet turbine and his rocket boots they were for shadowed in the beginning of movie primate.
Glad to see your reaction to this great movie my guy, cant wait for The Incredibles 2
As a kid: WOW THIS MOVIE IS ABOUT HERO. COOOOLLLLL
As a teenager: Wow... I AM OLD AS HELL
Feels like a James bond/spy movie 🔥🔥
Most job sites say Bob, as an Insurance Agent, would make about 40k but with Mirage 3x his income, Syndrome paid Bob 120k. Just estimates, though, based on 21st Century numbers and not the 60's(when this story happened, think about the home design).
There are so many things about this movie that I missed as a kid and that I caught rewatching it that made the movie so much greater. I never caught that the Omni-droid was a learning robot, I never caught that Frozone had to drink the water after the fire because that's he needed to get his ice back, I never even caught that Syndrome was the kid from the beginning or exactly how dark the computer room scene is
"Stay here with the kids"
"I don't think so, we're doing this together. Why don't you want me to help?"
"I'm not strong enough"
"That's what this is, some workout?"
" *I CAN'T LOSE YOU AGAIN!* I can't...not again...I'm not... _strong enough_ " 😞
I think the reason why there was so much hype around the 2nd movie was because at least for me i had given up hope on a sequel happening after so many years so when it was finally announced it was a huge deal
Love this movie! One of my childhood favorites!
One of me and my parents favorite movies of all time!💪🏻
