Your comparison between Tai Lung and Anakin is very accurate. Especially considering Shifu’s “I loved you too much to see what you were becoming. What I was turning you into.” And Obi’s “I have failed you Anakin. I have failed you.”
A theory that I saw regarding the bridge fight was that when Tai Lung was balancing on the bridge, he was doing it effortlessly while Tigress was struggling with her balance which is what made him realize she wasn’t the dragon warrior and he wasn’t taking the fight seriously
But also, his perfect balance and ability to fight upside down makes one wonder, did he let himself be beaten by the five because he already decided he was going to paralyze them and end the fight?
@@adrianrincon8766 I would assume that he just underestimated them and once they showed how strong they were, he decided to just deal with them immediately

18:02 Actually, very spot on. Tigress does have an origin story by Dreamworks. There's another small and short movie where Po actually shares the origins of the Five to a bunch of kids. Tigress was always an outcast that no one got along with as a little child. My favourite message of this movie is that when you try to stop something and you do so because of fear, it will eventually happen. Tai Lung became a monster because Oogway told him he is, and he doesn't deserve the scroll. Tai Lung escaped because Shifu was afraid he would broke out and decide to send a messanger there and finally, Tai Lung who is powered by the fear of becoming a monster in his father's eyes and the need of making him proud which eventually leads him to become monster. And when he opens the scroll he sees a monster instead of the dragon warrior he was told to be.
Oogway never told tai lung he was a monster, he just didn’t choose him to be dragon warrior, because he saw that tai lung wouldn’t be humble and wise enough to understand the meaning,he never said anything about deserving the scroll, he just said no, tai lung became a monster by his own choice, it’s like what the soothesayer said to Po, in kung fu panda 2, “your story may not have a happy beginning, but that doesn’t make you who you are, it is the rest of your story, who you choose to be”, and in this case, tai lung chose to be a monster by hurting innocents, and attacking his master, instead of accepting his destiny and just being a great warrior of justice
@@kevinfrancisco6616 Although there is some truth to your words, I dissagree. We were never told what exactly Oogway saw, we are only told that he saw darkness in Tai Lung's heart. A funny thing about that end move po uses is that it actually wasn't supposed to be real as far as shifu knew. The wuxi finger hold was just a bluff used by martial arts teachers on their students. Somehow po made it work like the original creater of the move did which surprised shifu.
It’s a funny thing cause Oogway was actually 1014 years old, but chances are he could have still kept going but sacrificed himself so Po and Shifu could become what they were supposed to be
It’s funny you should say that, because Oogway mentions that he feared that he’d never live to see the day the dragon warrior was chosen. Oogway himself seems to have known that he wasn’t long for this world. Considering Oogway seems to believe that everything happens for a reason, and that one should adhere to the natural flow of the universe, I doubt he could have stayed as it would go against his entire mindset.
My point is, I wonder how much of a “choice” Oogway had in this situation. But he seems to believe that it was for the best either way, so it probably doesn’t matter much.

Oogway's name is 乌龟 which literally means "Turtle" or "Tortoise" and so forth. You can tell Dreamworks really put a lot of work and care into small details like this.

How I always interpreted the meaning of the Dragon Scroll was that it's the difference between perfection vs. excellence. Everyone thought the secret of the Dragon Scroll was perfection, a secret that would put you at the ultimate pinnacle. In reality, however, the secret is excellence, the process of self improvement and accepting that you will often never be perfect. You can only strive to be your best and improve and aim for being your your best self each day. Po was able to accept himself where he is and how to work with what he has each moment, hence his fighting style that rolls with punches and improvises while drawing on serious willpower and perseverance.

Tai Lung is hinted to be insecure and dependent on outside validation many times. You picked up on the whole “believe in yourself” thing - when Tai Lung looks into the dragon scroll and sees himself, he says “it’s nothing!”
One of the best movie trilogies, and the unusual exception where each sequel of an animated film is just as good, if not better than the first! The second film is my top favorite, but they are all so wonderful.

This trilogy is phenomenal, one of the best set of animated movies out there. These are for sure on the same par as How to Train Your Dragon. As far as Jack Black movies I suggest School of Rock, and The Pick of Destiny. It's not really a Jack Black movie but the King Kong from 2005 he plays a pretty fun role too. Oh and Tropic Thunder, that one is a must see if you haven't.
If you loved the messages and themes in this film, just wait for Kung Fu Panda 2! Honestly my favourite of the three, hits some dark emotional beats and is just amazing.
You're the first person i've seen call out the fact that Po is a huge nerd that already knows everything about kung fu! The people who don't notice that tend to think the wuxi finger hold comes out of nowhere. But it makes perfect sense that he'd be able to figure something like that out with a bit of hands-on training with the subject he already knows inside and out.
One fantastic aspect of this movie is that each of the five are based on a different type of Kung fu, each of which have their own specific forms and styles. Mantis style is fascinating to watch in my opinion!
Honestly the story behind these themselves are just amazing like the first one is about the expectations of perfection and greatness with the villain and po expected to be perfect but after it’s looked past and accepted he becomes the dragon warrior kind cool
Story’s were meant to be told. Not all stories have to be realistic and have realism. Animated movies capture emotions and scenes way more perfectly than the majority of entertainment nowadays.
Literally some of Dreamworks' finest work alongside Shrek (Which you NEED to see). The Kung Fu Panda Trilogy and Shrek 1 and 2 are my favorite Dreamworks movies.
@@robbiewalker2831 not that great of a conclusion to the Shrek movies honestly you only needed the first two in my opinion although I will say the Puss In Boots spin-off wasn’t too bad.
Soo Oogway is a very deep character, and my favorite character. He knew from the very beginning Po was gonna be the dragon warrior (if you watch the sequels it will make sense). Not only that, the scene where Oogway was blowing out the candles, Oogway was testing Shifu. He told Shifu he had a vision, a vision that Tai Lung will break out of prison. He blew out the candles one by one to test Shifu’s patience. Had Shifu let Oogway blow the candles out one by one, it’ll show that Shifu is patient, and won’t be impulsive in his action which will lead to the escape of Tai lung, hence why in the scene where Shifu told the duck to go to the prison to double their defense, Oogway said “One often meet their destiny of the road they take to avoid it.” He knew Shifu was impatient and it was gonna lead to his downfall, so he told Shifu the bad news about Tai lung anyways. The scene where Oogway “died”, he ascended to the spirit realm, where he is enlightened and all-knowing, so not really dead. But he left because he knew if he stayed, Shifu would never be able to reach his destiny, or let go of the past. So Shifu would have to train Po on his own without Oogway’s guidance, so Shifu can fulfill his destiny and in doing that, Po will fulfill his as well. So Oogway in all three movies be spitting facts and life lessons at your face, and it’s honestly so inspirational hearing these things from an animated turtle.
They actually put "the Noodle Dream" into the Kung Fu Panda Holiday Special -- a short film that stands well with the actual trilogy. I'd recommend it along with the films, and also the traditionally animated "Secrets of the Scroll".
This movie is so good, and I could talk forever about all the minute details. Like Oogway’s quote “one often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it” is said IMMEDIATELY after Shifu sends the messenger to the prison. If he hadn’t sent him to order more guards to keep Tai Lung there, the feather never would’ve fallen and Tai Lung probably wouldn’t have escaped. You should DEFINITELY keep that quote in mind if and when you watch the second movie (which you totally should considering it might honestly be better than the first). I’d also like to discuss how brilliant it is that Oogway passes on when he does. He knows that if he stays behind and beats Tai Lung, Shifu would never be motivated to train Po, and thus Po would never fulfill his destiny. On top of that, Shifu would continue to suffer over his failure with Tai Lung and would never be able to move on, continuing to live in sorrow. Oogway essentially forces them to confront the problem and their own inner demons so they can conquer them and become stronger for it.
Let's go! Great trilogy! The trilogy is fantastic, and they also made a lower budget show for Nick I believe. While I don't recommend watching all of it for reactions, there are a couple specials they aired where they bring back higher quality animation and the original actors (they used cheaper ones for the show), including one where we see the origins of the Furious Five. If you at all get invested in this universe, that episode at least is worth a reaction. And it sounds like you will already be doing after this trilogy, but gotta shout out the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy! It is even better in my personal opinion!
Oh definitely he's also my favourite villain Ian Mcshane was absolutely amazing as tai lung I loved his character i wish he could return in the 4th movie if there will be one.
@@Zach_Bliss They become better as in the second one they see Po as less of a joke more as a valued member of the group and there is real philosophy in the film of conquering your fears before conquering your enemies. With the third it is even better then the second as the theme of family no matter who they are is great also Po grows with each film. I don’t do drugs and I hope this opened your eyes to seeing the films in a different light. I would recommend watching CinemaWins videos about the films. They are very in depth with character analysis, story, etc.
From DreamWorks starring Jack Black as Po; a panda who works as a waiter for his father's noodles restaurant. However what he really wants to be is a kungfu master. His only problem is that the is a fat panda. When the villainous Tai-lung threatens to return, it is up to Po along with the Furious Five to stop him

I was about 11 when this came out, we went on a school trip to watch it and I loved it!! 2 might be my favorite and 3 is also great!!! Very great and solid trilogy!!
Since you've already seen the trilogy on Patreon, I'll comment my mind on it freely. Kung Fu Panda trilogy is outstanding. He teaches you to accept yourself and the past doesn't define you. I like the metaphor that the first movie is about body. Tai Lung the perfect example of warrior's body and Po shamed on his own, both were orphan but chose different paths. In the end it's Po who found peace with himself other than Tai Lung who thought scroll is what defined him. Po's reaction to the scroll was "it's blank" and Tai Lung's reaction was "it's nothing". That shows the how both of them see themselves in reality. Also it took me a long time to notice but shifu is actually limp. When he was trying to stop Tai Lung on his first outburst but couldn't do it because of his love for him, you can hear a crack when Tai Lung hit leg. Also you must've already figured it out but the wushi finger hold sends you to spirit realm. I think you figured Shifu and Tai Lung's story well with Star Wars reference. That being said, what's your favorite trilogy in SW? Also I definitely do recommend watching more animated movies. The best I could recommend are Brother Bear, Treasure Planet, How to Train your dragon trilogy, Shrek 1&2, Legend of the guardians: owls of Ga'Hoole, Rise of the guardians, The Adventures of TinTin, Meet the Robinsons, Sindhbad, Epic, Wonder Park.
Animated movies in the last 20 years are as good or better than most live action movies. The stories, the music, the animation and voice acting make these movies more than just entertainment for kids. There are always elements and depth to the plots of these stories that lends appeal to adults as well.
I held a tree branch down like just like po did by standing on it when I was in pre-school and then it slipped out from under my feet, swung straight up towards my face and took a piece of my chin outta my face 😂
I think the best thing about Po being the Dragon warrior that this trilogy emphasises is that, it wasn't skill, natural talent or power that was important (like everyone thought) that makes you the perfect 'hero/warrior' but the heart and kind of person you are. That's why Tia Lung or Tigress wasnt the Dragon Warrior because it was never about about power, otherwise either of them should have been the Dragon Warrior
Another animated movie you should definetly check out is Coraline, It's made with stop motion animations, with a unique artstyle and very interesting story! It is one of my favorite movies of all time. Here are some other titles you should also check out: Rango, Corpse Bride, "9" Mune: The Guardian of the Moon The Triplets of Belleville
There's some videos around on the symbolism in these movies with colors, translations (Chorh-Gom translates to "sit in prison" so Tai Lung is in "sit in prison prison " Tai Lung means "Great Dragon"), the animals chosen for each character (snow leopards eat both giant pandas and red pandas in the wild) and fighting styles. And it's a perfect trilogy too. (past, present, future and 3 aspects of Po and Shifu's personalities, teacher-student, equals, student-teacher). And there's also quite a bit of traditional Chinese culture. The CCP kinda studied this to learn how to incorporate more of their own culture like this movie did. (and collaborated on the sequels so they received wide release in China)
How to Train your Dragon needs to be up on that list. This has to be Dreamworks best series hands down. The second one is one of the best animated US movies since the Lion King. Megamind is another good one It's a low key classic that doesn't get the love it deserves though this one was a one off.
just a tip: If Hans Zimmer scored the soundtrack, 99.999% chance the film is a really good one. edit: just scanned the comments and can't believe I didn't see a single one about Hans Zimmer. For anyone who is a fan of Hans, he is embarking on a Europe tour right now. GO to his concerts if you can!
People love animated movies in the same way people can love any movie. Animation is a medium, not a genre, and it's so much more versatile than live action which allows for really unique stuff
The reason I love this movie so much is that it has so many life lessons in it. As a kid I never understood them but when I became an adult the wisdom master Oogway was saying was remarkable.
Jack Black absolutely killed it in his role as Po. you should definitely check out his movie Tenacious D: In the Pick of Destiny. it's hilarious and it's the best of both worlds as you get to see him acting and singing.
I'm so glad you are reacting to these movies! They are a big part of my childhood. And what I love about them is that they are so rewatchable! I can't wait for you to watch the rest!👌
These movies are great. It's a kids cartoon but the topics hidden in it are very real life lessons (like what you mentioned when you said: "Po was adopted"). They just present very real social topics in this movie and its presented with emotion and some comedy. But it's never insulting. Also what I love about it are the voice actors. The Furious Five are great! (Just check out who voiced them on imdb and you'll love it). But the villains? Man... I love the choices of the actors for each KFP movie. However horrible or cowarldy they may be, their voices sound great. And the actors/actresses behind them are worth the while alone :D ( I loved KFP 2 just as much! :) )

Fun Fact: The Wuxi finger hold is just something masters made up to scare their students and Shifu says he has no idea what Po did to Tia Lung
I’m a huge fan of Star Wars and Dreamworks movies, and I cannot believe you’re covering both 🔥
Story’s were meant to be told.
How is Shrek Forever After?
@@robbiewalker2831 not that great of a conclusion to the Shrek movies honestly you only needed the first two in my opinion although I will say the Puss In Boots spin-off wasn’t too bad.
20:34 I'm not crying! You are!
32:05 “The Wuxi finger hold? Wtf did that do?”
Well as far as I can tell…it whooshed him.
Lmao
Animated films I highly recommend:
Ferngully, The Iron Giant, Treasure Planet, The Road to El Dorado, Atlantis:the lost empire.
Kung Fu Panda Trilogy and Tv show was so good I watched every movie and episode
Just because Jack Black makes the voice of Po, you should watch King Kong 2005. That movie is amazing… and terrifying
That’s one of my favorite movies ever and has some incredible CGI on Kong and in the trench scene as well
"Finally a worthy opponent, our battle will be legendary."
Jake Paul each time he chooses an opponent
They actually put "the Noodle Dream" into the Kung Fu Panda Holiday Special -- a short film that stands well with the actual trilogy. I'd recommend it along with the films, and also the traditionally animated "Secrets of the Scroll".
Be weary of Kung Fu Panda fans saying how different Master Rhino is between the Holiday Special and Kung Fu Panda 2.
"yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery, and today is a gift, that's why it is called present" best movie quote i've ever heard
The sequel to this is great as well.
"School of Rock" and "Be Kind, Rewind" are two other Jack Black movies worth watching.
This movie was legit a surprise when I 1st saw it. Great movie & great message!!!
I still say “skadoosh” for no reason at all and just at random times 😂
I love how ur up to react to just about anything, enjoy ur reactions man
Thanks man
@@ItsAPrimatee check out voices behind characters there will be Jolie and jackie chan :D
This series is incredibly under-rated imo. One of the best trilogies ever made
HTTYD is a masterpiece of a movie series, my favorite trilogy of all time, animated or not.
Best trilogy of all time
Tai lung is my favourite villain Ian McShane is perfect for voice acting him
Oh definitely he's also my favourite villain Ian Mcshane was absolutely amazing as tai lung I loved his character i wish he could return in the 4th movie if there will be one.
I just watched this film 2 days ago for the first time in years and I loved every second of it and i got emotional a few times 😂
Pandas oldest bears still alive. China owns the bears. Look up ‘Panda Diplomacy’
If u find tai lung this good i can only imagine how much youd love the villain the second movie
This is one of those series of films where each entry is better than the last and the emotion in the second is incredible!
You on crack? They get objectively worse lol. I still really like the second one though.
@@jamesmoyner7499 I really enjoy the second one but the third one sucks for me. All opinions
Would be dope to see you react to the mini movies explaining the history of the masters, furious 5, and the dragon scroll
It's actually ironic that you are reacting to the first one today since it is Kung Fu Panda 3 Anniversary tomorrow.
From DreamWorks starring Jack Black as Po; a panda who works as a waiter for his father's noodles restaurant. However what he really wants to be is a kungfu master. His only problem is that the is a fat panda. When the villainous Tai-lung threatens to return, it is up to Po along with the Furious Five to stop him
Do Good Will Hunting next!!!! love watching your vids man :)
Out of all those options I could of easily told you this series would win.
primate, get yourself some cold, red seedless grapes to eat with your cheese and crackers. there is literally nothing better than eating a sweet red grape with the saltiness of sharp cheddar cheese, it's soooooo good
Holy crap, I just realized, Po's "dad" is Azmorigan from Rebels. I knew I recognized that voice but I had such a hard time placing it
If you like Jack Black I recommend Tropic Thunder!! Ben Stiller and Tom Cruise are in it too but Robert Downey Jr steals the movie. Too funny!
The cast is also pack. Jackie Chan, Angelina Jolie Lucy Lui and more
I was about 11 when this came out, we went on a school trip to watch it and I loved it!! 2 might be my favorite and 3 is also great!!! Very great and solid trilogy!!
This was a fun one to watch you react to. Kung fu panda is just a chill fun movie overall. Hope you do the rest of them!
6:48 I can't be the one to spot the randomly dropped "That's ruff, buddy" quote
A man of culture I see 🤫
Yooo do how to train your dragon next, it’s by dream works like this one. One of the gr8s.
It's an amazing trilogy
I saw something where this trilogy goes through po's development of his body, mind, and spirit. Theyre so well done i love these movies.
"What are you going to do, sit on me?"
"Don't Tempt me."
Proceeds to literally sit on him😂
I held a tree branch down like just like po did by standing on it when I was in pre-school and then it slipped out from under my feet, swung straight up towards my face and took a piece of my chin outta my face 😂
I wish I could have some dumplings while exercising.
Tailung is one of my favorite animated villains, I wish they didn’t do him so dirty in the final fight
the finger hold sent him to the spirit realm. just incase you didnt know.
Probably one of my favorite animated franchise from my childhood
I’ve watched Kung Fu Panda so many times and I handy realized that there was an end credit scene.
This is one of my favs for specific reasons to me. I took my niece and nephew to see everyone of these movies.
Another animated movie you should definetly check out is Coraline, It's made with stop motion animations, with a unique artstyle and very interesting story! It is one of my favorite movies of all time.
Here are some other titles you should also check out:
Rango,
Corpse Bride,
"9"
Mune: The Guardian of the Moon
The Triplets of Belleville
This is why I love watching you. You always drop some amazing motivational speeches at the end
How to Train your Dragon needs to be up on that list. This has to be Dreamworks best series hands down. The second one is one of the best animated US movies since the Lion King. Megamind is another good one It's a low key classic that doesn't get the love it deserves though this one was a one off.
Tbh I’m glad Megamind is a one off
just a tip: If Hans Zimmer scored the soundtrack, 99.999% chance the film is a really good one.
edit: just scanned the comments and can't believe I didn't see a single one about Hans Zimmer.
Primate:" ugway kinda nasty "
Me" yeah , the guy literally invented kung fu "
And the actors/actresses behind them are worth the while alone :D
( I loved KFP 2 just as much! :) )
