Ken Block’s All-GoPro Cossie V2 Raw Onboard Footage: Irish Tarmac Rally Madness, Stage 13: Knockalla
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 лют 2025
- Enjoy this raw, uncut onboard footage from Stage 13 of the Donegal Rally: Knockalla. One of the most famous stages of the rally itself. Ken Block and Alex Gelsomino tackle the tarmac stage starting with surreal ocean views, mixed in with wildly narrow sections and a jump or two in there. Enjoy.

Yes, yes and more YES!
Quite possibly the most dangerous underrated sport in the world. Props to all Rally car drivers.
not underrated at all, just under-populated
Its not that dangerous think of the isle of man tt its under rated
"WRC is for boys, group C was for men"
Have you seen isle of man tt???
That is on another level
Rally is dangerous but is a car with 16 points roll cage. Max out maybe 130 mph...still scarry fast on the roads and conditions they race in. But isle of man can touch 190-200mph+ on motorcycle w/o roll cage and someone always died each year....Yeah isle of man is the most bat shit insane things I can think of in form of racing.
Not enough people appreciate how stable the footage is
it appears the camera or maybe the lense is mounted on some tricky suspension that stabilises the picture like a gyroscopic setup or something
Thanks computer technology for doing what you do.
I think it's pretty normal for people to not thank objects
Maybe you are new to the world of action sport cameras
There are many AI-based programs for video stabilization, it's not even that inaccessible to normal people, hell, even your phone probably has a level of stablization and even youtube itself has an AI to help with shaky cameras.
Shhh looks like a videogame
Rest easy Ken. I never knew a thing about Rallying until a friend sent me this video and since then I've been enthused by this sport, RIP to an all time great and legend.

They’re like two sides of a brain communicating it’s crazy, this takes unfathomable teamwork, practice and dedication. Props to you ken for being the best at it!
He was NOT the best at it, or even in the ballpark.
Don’t confuse sentiment with fact. Ken Block was not one of the best rally drivers ever. Ken Block WAS one of the most talented guys you would ever see when hooning about. His car control and entertainment factor was off the charts, probably the best person to ever sell his talent as pure visual entertainment. Sadly, though, he was not actually the best rally driver, just a fantastic driver who could put on a great display. Rally driving at the absolute pinnacle looks just like the driving in the video, but there is 1% more added that shaves a second or two off the time, something that you and I, and other mere mortals like you and I, are unable to discern let alone replicate. RIP Ken Block, one of the most ENTERTAINING drivers we have ever seen. Not the best rally driver though, .. far from it.

Do I have to solve a math question everytime I start my car?
Can some help me understand why the man on the right kept on doing math?
@@johnrovicgerong433 Pace Notes..those right or left followed by a number indicates the severity of the corner, for example, a Right 6 is a gentle right hander while a Right 1 is more severe and acute right would be the severest. The other numbers indicate the distance for which the corner is about to go on and so on and so forth. It's read in advance by the co-driver so that the driver can form a mental picture of the track up ahead and react accordingly. Co-drivers dont look out of the window to see which turn it is. They literally feel the road through the seats and gauges which corner just passed and at what speed or angle.
Watched rally for years in the 90’s and 2000’s. First time watching an entire leg in the car with narration. Amazing how calm you both seem. Funny how a few times notes say “4+” but you were 5+. Hands down rally guys are the best in racing. The crew being able to set up a car to take the punishment and a driver taking it to the limit. Mad props for all co-drivers for putting their lives in the drivers hands.
One of the things that always put me off watch rallies in those days is the fact they only ever showed small parts of the track, it always just felt more like a news report/highlight reel, than actually a race. Rally POV is so much more interesting and gives a much better showcase of the skill of these drivers.

If you do some looking around you can see some really good co drivers vs some not so good ones
Every Driver and Co driver have their own dialect. You can watch videos for the basics but the driver may ask for a different style. As an example, the standard call in here would be into, where the co driver is simply saying in.
I understand what you're saying, sometimes it seems more confusing than what it is. The +/- messes with me till I remember it means elevation change.... - for down hill, + for up hill
go play dirt 4 you will understand very soon what those calls mean lmao
THESE are driving skills, F1 has nothing on this. When the back of the car is pointing one way and the front is pointing another BUT the car is STILL going exactly where the driver wants it too. This is another level of skill altogether!!.

So a reading of '3 right long opens over crest' means he'll need to slow down a bit for the turn, wait for it to open up at the middle of the turn, and then he can accelerate.
If it's just a number like 50 or 80, that's meters until the next turn. 'don't' is even shorter for 'don't cut' which means don't try to cut the turn early, because there's likely rocks or fence or a drop off. There's also small descriptors, like narrow, bumpy, slippery, etc. which tell the driver how to approach these areas.
And that's all there really is. This shorthand is given anywhere between one to three or four turns ahead. Rally is all about thinking ahead. Knowing what speed to use at any moment, what angle to take turns, full control of the car at all times. It's incredible.
@@EricJCaraballoso thanks, i never understood what the meant by saying these phrases.
@@EricJCaraballoso I like this explanation. In some cases this is how I drive on the open road and how I give directions when sitting in the passengers seat. Kudos for explaining 🤙🏿
5:33 "let my muscle test people"
I’ve played enough Dirt 4 to be a rally driver.
Thanks for coming Hope to see you back
Fantastic! That speed and precision is mind bulging to me. YES PLEASE. We want to see more! What a beautiful stage too.
After almost 3 decades of viewing onboard rally videos, this is the first ever sealed surface video I have enjoyed

4:30 that part there up that hill. Holy crap that is mental. Those little Irish mountain roads are scary at 50mph. He is absolutely flying.
You’re one mad lad.
(Points at bowling balls) "See those? they aint even big enough." Ken you are flying! love your racing/driving, never stop!
When she's home alone and your buddy know the fastest route
-________- Sus.
GoingRampant07 nothing suspicious about that he goes there for church studies
😂 never thought of it that way
Haha
Wait a minute..........
Some serious speed carried in places there. Big balls for a newbie on the Donegal Tar. Respect !
Rally drivers are a different breed. The best. Thanks for the ride
I recently got dirt and I've been hooked on rally ever since xD
Same its like a sports i love but never tried out
Got dirt and i cant drive in it for shit. Mad respect to those who do this in real.
Similar. And then I got a racing wheel and pedals... and I figure in a couple of years I *might* try the real thing. Haha!
@@Machtyn to be honest i want to try rally racing too, but it doesnt happen where i'm at. 0%, im pretty sure. Also the cars here suck ass. The only car i've seen in a rally which my country has is a suzuki swift, which i own and my 2 friends too. They both raced and one totalled the car. Glad i was in the other one, the other one got totalled 3-4 weeks later. Not fun to be in when it rolls over.
@@colorlessink You might be surprised. I watched a video a couple years ago that talks about a place in Ohio that does training. Just gotta look up some auto clubs in your area.
Who else has played Dirt 4 so much they can understand the call outs perfectly😂😂😂😂
You get brain fucked when you actually drive at first though hahaha but it becomes a instant reflex if your guide calls it out on point
yes lmao im actually waiting for it to download
justin lee dirt 4 is really unrealistic. Get dirt rally or dirt rally 2.0
Govind Menon yeah dude, D4 ain’t any fun at all I don’t think. DIRT RALLY 2.0 is so great, I suggest getting a wheel If you can afford
Haven't ever played it but the call out started making sense about 2/3's in to the video. Those are way more helpful than I thought.
RIP to an absolute legend, you will be missed by so many.
Coming back to this video... Really hard to think that Ken is gone
Navigators are so underrated....
Nice footage
