This video is what made me buy my 55x25 rx box about a year ago because it was probably the most honest review out there. I got the same issues with the drawers on mine tho. I found if I pull them to full extension on a regular basis they go easier. Sometimes I gotta fight them a bit but once they go full slide their fine for a while, and as far the tweaking I just got used to pushing them shut from the middle. That all being said, for the money they're hard to beat.
Please make a detailed video on your EX SERIES EXTREME TOOLS. Not too many videos out and you seem you have yours loaded up and had it for some time. Would be very very appreciated
I dont have a menards local to me but I was looking on their site and they sell the spring loaded casters which you can switch out, if you use 4 of those you can remove the middle ones.
Thanks for the tip! Yeah, I have Menards envy as well! None in my area either! I have considered swapping out the casters and may still at some point but, truth be told, the box only gets moved to clean. Still, I'll likely update them at some point, just because!
@@SmittysShop Menards does ship, it was only $10 to ship a big vice but when I searched their boxes it was $500 to ship one my way, the menards masterforce box is a pretty sweet deal they even sell add on power tool drawer where a drawer as tall as the tool box slides out with 2 levels to put your cordless tools in.
They were attached to the box and the "inside the pallet". You have to kind of remove the pallet from around the wheels. Bit of a challenge but not a huge deal!
It is removable. Mine is bare metal underneath but I ordered it separately from the box. I believe the box comes standard with a rubber mat! Thanks Mikey Mike!
Would you recommend this over the bigger EX for a first box? I'm a heavy line tech already outgrew my yukon 46" and i'm looking for a box to keep for a long time but not tool truck prices.
I really like this box at the price point. HOWEVER, as a line tech and given you are continuing to grow your tool inventory, I would highly recommend the EX series box. It is every bit as good as "tool truck brands" and you just can't beat those 30" deep drawers! I'm not sure I would ever buy another box off a tool truck after owning Extreme boxes! I no, they don't pay or give me a damn thing to say that! It's just my opinion!
@@SmittysShop Would you say fit and finish and strength is comparable between your EX and RX? If someone doesn't need the depth do you feel like its worth the price hike? Thanks.
@@ProfessorClay There are some noticeable differences between the boxes. If you are "into" tool boxes and you work out of them every day you will notice subtle differences between the two. It's really going to come down to your budget, use, etc. If you are working out of the box on the daily, you just can't beat the Ex series. They stand toe to toe with the "big name" boxes. However, that's not to discount the RX series. I'm still very pleased with this RX box given the price point etc.! The RX is more than a "home owner" tool box, in my opinion. It's just a slight step "down" from the EX series.
@@SmittysShop Thanks Smitty! It really helps to have your unbiased opinion before I take the plunge sight unseen. Thanks for helping everyone out and for the quick response. Warm regards.
I’ve been looking at the 55” version of this box. Are you still satisfied with your purchase? And have any issues come up with the box since the update video? Also how deep are the shallow drawers?
Thanks for watching and for your question! I am very pleased with both of my Extreme boxes. Having owned Snap on and Mac most of my career, I just can't see ever going back to a tool truck brand. So, to answer your question, yes, very satisfied with my purchase and no, there have been no issues at all with this box! The depth of the shallow drawers on this box is 2" And, for the record, I'm just a working class slob! No compensation etc. from Extreme or anyone else. Just a happy customer!

Thanks for your comment! They are a great box aren't they?! Real happy with mine!
CANT WAIT FOR MINE TO COME IN FIRST AND LAST TOOL BOX

I like that configuration because it’s got more deep drawers than most of them
Yeah Greg. I agree and exactly why I went for that one. I have a lot of tools in plastic cases that fit nicely in the deeper drawers!
Thanks for the review. Can you tell if the wheels can be easily removed if I want to place it on a wood base frame and never move it?
For sure! 4 bolts on each caster! Easily removed!

Lighter duty slides that don’t open 100%. Hmmm. Still looks like a good box for the money.
Hey, another quick question... were the wheels already attached when the box arrived, or did you have to attach them?
They were attached to the box and the "inside the pallet". You have to kind of remove the pallet from around the wheels. Bit of a challenge but not a huge deal!
Just purchased one and am very happy. Where do you get your plastic tool holders (with socket sizes, screwdrivers holders etc.)
Harbor Freight!!!
That will be my next box but in a 30" but I want a butcher block on it
Awesome! I have the 30" box also and am extremely pleased with it!!!! (pun intended)
Very nice thanks for sharing
Thanks John!
Is that stainless top removable? If so, what is underneath?
It is removable. Mine is bare metal underneath but I ordered it separately from the box. I believe the box comes standard with a rubber mat! Thanks Mikey Mike!
Good video dude
Thank you!

@@SmittysShop thanks! I really appreciate it.
They are heavy!
Admittedly, I used my forklift to get it off the pallet!!!
@@SmittysShop I had to jack mine up and remove the pallet 1 peice at a time
cant take the music in the background
Those toolboxes don't do a bit of work making any money buy Harbor Freight use your money on tools thank me later....
