- I have made this video to showcase Selena's real vocals, as many claim that Selena can't sing. I have put Selena in some of my other videos, and i've never seen an artist receive so much criticism.
Obviously Selena isn't the strongest singer in the world, but she can sing, I think so anyway... Her overall tone is really pretty to me, I don't know, what do you think? Anyway Enjoy...

I'm not gonna say if she's good or bad, but her voice fits her songs. You couldn't have Adele or Demi sing Hands To Myself. Selena's is great for her types of songs. Then again, she couldn't sing songs like Dangerous Woman or Hello like the artists do.

Anitazxx the thing is singing live is being able to sing. if you can't sing without auto tune, can you really sing? i think she has a nice voice, she just doesn't show much difficulty... she's rated as a D singer because she doesn't use vibrato, and she doesn't last very long live. She also sounds like she's talking sometimes. I think she's a great actor, but singing just isn't one of her talents.
there's actually really good clips of her singing live, her voice is more soothing than powerful, Selena is my favorite singer, because she has a sweet personality. but I think its fine that you have your own opinion, at least you're not bashing her.

Most recorded versions of songs, Selena's especially, are using an insane amount of autotune. This makes pitch cleaner and more refined, but it also makes her voice louder on the track.
because its not in her range, because I am a soprano and I can reach most of them. However my sister is an alto and when she can't reach the high notes she sings it softly.

+Jahnia lol no that's not what auto tune does. Vocal Mastering does that. Autotune makes your voice robotic and makes it go to specific notes.

All i wanted to say is that i don't give a damn about her singing whether she is able to hit high notes or not . She has a unique voice . There are many songs which are just made for her. People are comparing her to Ariana Grande, Ari is a great singer but just imagine if she sings same old love. Selena's version would sound much better than Ari's. Selena shouldn't be singing at concerts. She doesn't have a special voice, can't reach high or low notes, she has an average voice. I can understand that some people can like her voice because it's not awful or a complete disaster, and she has a lot of producers who make "good" music, but that doesn't mean she should be a singer. There's a lot of people who are more talented that her and no one pays attention to them because they are not as pretty as her, and they doesn't have a Disney career. I took singing lessons since I was 4, and for someone who has 15 years of singing lessons, like me, knows when someone is out of tune, when they don't know how to breathe and that if you had lupus, you shouldn't be jumping and singing (because she is not dancing, she is jumping). She doesn't breathe with her all her lungs, she sing with her chest and throat, and that's a huge mistake. Also, she has a range of an octave and a half, when a good singers has a range of three octaves or more. So to any Selenator who thinks she is a good singer, she isn't. She just can sing. Period. That doesn't mean she should be a singer. She should be an actress. That's what she have been studying for years. You can like her music but that doesn't mean she is a good singer. Miley, Ariana, Adele, lady Gaga, Beyonce, Shakira, etc, they are singers. Good singers.

Why all the comments comparing her to Ariana? You don’t need to be able to reach the highest notes to be a good singer. Ariana and Selena are two completely different types of singers. Ariana has a very strong, powerful voice which makes it easier for her to perform. Selena however, has a very soft voice and finds it difficult to sing powerfully. Even though the examples in this video aren’t the best, it doesn’t mean she can’t sing. If you go watch her acoustic version of ‘who says’ her voice sounds really beautiful. Also don’t forget that Selena has anxiety and lupus which can affect her singing on stage.
