Celine had a huge vocal scare in '93 and wasn't sounding that good in that era bc of nodules-related issues that she caught early and shook off. if celine had Mariahs genuine health issues she would be croaking too. the fact that Mariah was able to sing well for as long as she did with her vocal condition is a miracle. don't shit on artists when the people you listen to could never sing in the first place.

MuzyShayk Well, it depends. If it’s just one gig then sure. But when people are on tour, the fatigue catches up at some point or another, and that’s not psychological. The vocal chords need some proper time to rest if you’ve been using them everyday at full capacity.

Whistle notes can damage the voice box, which is why Mariah didnt do it all the time to preserve her voice
Those three have nothing to prove to anyone
You can hear the tension and struggle as they approach the high notes and that in itself is their indication that they won’t be able to make the high note... is it impossible? No. But the likelihood of succeeding in hitting those notes as they approach it from where they are with that kind of strain and tension is low, and they know that. Hence why they dodge it to avoid embarrassment if they fail to correct in time. You also can’t correct once you’re too close to the note. It won’t work. They would have to correct much sooner, and if you watch as they sing, they not only are attempting to correct it, but they also show it on their faces that they are well aware that it’s not working out.

I wouldn’t say these singers are really “afraid”. Think about it. These are WORLD RENOWN singers. They have to be careful with their voice, because it’s their career. It’s not about being afraid, it’s about health.

But just speaking of her for a second, watch her live version of “anyone” at the Grammys and compare it to the studio version in the live version is even better.
