One year ago I bought a queen garage 2003 Lincoln Town Car Signature Trim with 30,000 miles. The car was sitting in the garage for 7 years since the passing of the owner (a doctor by the way). The car had like two inches of dust and a flat tire. I just clean one window to see the clear like new interior and decided to get it. First I went to buy a brand new battery, secondly, I check the oil level, third I disconnected both coils and then cranck the engine on and off to "circulate the oil" after that I connected the coils, start the engine and there you go a complete silence engine running like a cat purr.
@@patrickstenson830 wait what?! What would happen? I have had the same full tank of gas in my old Nissan that I haven't driven since 2020. @@D-NICE33 It is not necessary to check transmission fluid if you are just starting an engine. The engine is disengaged from the transmission when starting; you could remove the transmission and would still be able to start the vehicle. It only becomes necessary to check transmission fluid when you are ready to drive the vehicle. The process for that (on an automatic transmission) is to warm up the vehicle and check the fluid dipstick while the engine is idling in neutral or park. On a manual transmission, you need to remove the inspection cover or stick your finger through the fill hole. You do not need to warmup the vehicle if you are checking a manual transmission.
What an awesome video! Exactly the information I needed, especially the fogging fluid! I never even knew of such a thing, and I was rather worried about the cylinder walls and pistons. I'm about to get my precious car back from a 2-year impound, and I really don't want to damage the internals, when doing so. Thank you for doing this great, informative video (with clear and concise instructions)! I hope you're getting paid well for these videos, because you sure deserve it!
ChrisFix ....Hi Chris. Is that a 4.6l v8 in your Mustang? I have 94 Thunderbird with 4.6l v8.Is it hard to change the egr valve and pipe on it? please let me know. thank you
I can tell you that it is surely a 4.6l v8 engine because I have the same engine in my 96 mustang GT. sorry I don't have an answer for the egr valve and pipe because ive never done one, but good luck man!
You forgot the most important part of the oil filter change. Lube up the seal ring on the new oil filter with some fresh oil to prevent it from binding/breaking when you tighten the filter down.
Hey Chris, you have inspired me to become a mechanic. Your videos inspired me to become one, it’s not some desk job, where you are sitting there punching keys all day for the rest of your life. New cars come in a lot, giving new experiences every time. I actually am going to register for my first semester of mechanic class for my senior year of high school. Just wanted to give thanks ❤
I used to have an SVT Contour and I would always drive with the windows and sunroof open. One day, I swear I thought I saw something fly into my car, but I could never find anything, ever. Years later, I got hit by a drunk driver and had to get the car repaired and the whole front dash ended up coming off. When I looked at my finished car, the mechanic showed my something he found wedged in the passenger side floor fan......It was, in fact, a dead, crunchy bird. I knew that I saw something fly into my car that day years prior. It just took 5 years, an accident and a mechanic to prove me right.
Thank you for being straightforward and "to the point" your videos are. They provide all of the necessary context to understand what you tell us, so thanks.
Thank you for this video, my old 26 town car has been sitting for a 10 months and it won’t start, so I am going follow your steps and I hope to get it on the road again.
have a minivan with either a computer problem ground wire to the computer or alternator the battery display kept going up and down was not started in 3 months just started it so to avoid the frogging issue any clue to what we should check 1995 town and country chrisfix please hope its not the blinker fluid lol
after 4000 dollars of work including a transmission rebuild were a wiring harness had to be replaced the alternator is only 2 years old and does not seem to get hot and the battery is charging so pretty sure its a wire related to the computer
Thank you this will be so helpful. Long story sort my car has been sitting for close to 9months and now I am ready to begin bringing her back to life. This should definitely be helpful to know cause any extra unnecessary damage to the engine!

@@chrisfix love the channel and content bro, you've helped me get through many obstacles with my project car.
I have a 99 Infiniti g20, I was wondering if you have any idea how to bypass the neutral safety switch, I wanna do this just to move the car around for the time being. I've replaced the switch and tried all the adjusting I possibly could but still no good. I'm not ready to take it to the shop just yet, but I do need to move it. If you have any info either way, I'd appreciate it.

Great vids Chris. Good knowledge put across spot on mate..Best auto vids I seen in an age...and I work in an engine R&D test cell... Folks this is the correct ABC 123 of basic auto diagnosis
Come to Chris Fix when you need a complete explaination!!
Absolutely!
@@chrisfix did I miss you checking the transmission fluid?
@@chrisfix i tried this gas wouldn't come out
What an awesome video!

Definitely Chrisfix!!
You forgot the most important part of the oil filter change. Lube up the seal ring on the new oil filter with some fresh oil to prevent it from binding/breaking when you tighten the filter down.
Im not sure if im seeing shit but it also looks like he may have double gasketed the filter as well accidentally.

Hey Chris, you have inspired me to become a mechanic. Your videos inspired me to become one, it’s not some desk job, where you are sitting there punching keys all day for the rest of your life.
That's sad :(
