    Hard start is front IP seal but you knew that. Leak would be IP head O ring, if they stand idle for a while with the front seal gone the diesel drains out of pump and corosion starts around the main head seal. Nice work, good to watch someone else do the hard yards for a change :).

    is there a torque spec for the injector it self and for installing it into the engine? good video :)

    When you take IP out dont worry about timing. Remove the pwr steer pump and mark the front ip gear and cam cover with paint. As long as you dont touch the crank it should go back in exactly the same spot, even if you do, you can line your painted marks up again.

      Thanks for the tips! Havn't actually done a pump seal yet so good to know. "Num 4" will be back in a month or two and we will be pulling the pump to perform the repair. Hopefully it'll all go smooth.

    i just undo all the glow plugs and turn the motor over till you see a mist coming out of the glow plug holes to prime the injectors uses some battery power but easier in most cases

    Got a diesel l400 like this. No power to the starter motor solenoid. I had to place a wire from the battery to the trigger wire. Any idea? The fuses look good on the fuse box and the battery terminal fuse block. A starter relay?

      No signal power or no primary power. Start by cleaning all of your connections and terminals. Assuming you have already confirmed no power with a test lamp, and it is still dead then you will need to diag the circuit. To diag electrical simply start at the end of the circuit and work your back along the wire until you find the point where you have power.

    Was this what was causing the hard start or what ended up being the final problem? Mine starts very similar to what you showed at the beginning of the video

      Partial issue. The injection pump main seal was also worn so it needed a full reseal.

    If you don't have a sonic cleaner, would you just replace them? With good plugs and injectors should the start-up be smooth even below 0c? Mine runs great once it gets going but takes a minute or two in the cold.

      Honestly even with a perfect injection system and glow plug system starts can be a bit choppy/smokey when the temps drop into the single digits. If you don't have a sonic cleaner you can just use carb cleaner and tooth brush. It's a bit more labour intensive but it will get the job done. If the parts show signs of wear it would be a good idea to rebuild or replace the injectors though.

    I changed mine out a few months ago and have been periodically checking the ports to make sure they're clean. Up until yesterday they were fine but I noticed today theres some carbon in all of the ports. The washers were new and everything was torqued to spec. Any ideas for what could be causing this?

      Try use only OEM Mitsubishi or Hyundia parts. Sometimes, the aftermarket stuff just doesn't seal.

    can i make shims to adjust the pop off pressure or do you know where i can buy? i have L300 4D56

      Technically you could, but without a pop tester you would be doing it blind, and getting all the injectors balanced would be next to impossible.

      @@projectaddiction i have a pop tester. there was a suggestion of perhaps a beer/pop can cut into circle? i would rather a real one but not sure where to get

      @BboyKozijn you should be able to find them online. If i recall correctly, they are Zexel injectors. I purchased mine from a local fuel injection shop. NW fuel injection.

    The zenner seal between the fuel pump and engine gets old and hard on these. very common. cheap seal, big job. like new car.

    Hi I have changed my glow plugs diesel filter still won't start and smoking heavy

      Hi Lee, smoke could be caused by a number of things. Did you remember to prime the filter before trying to start the van?

      @@projectaddiction yes I pumped the filter could I have air in the system I have emptied the diesel tank as well???
