I’m having this procedure done tomorrow. Doctors seem to minimize the surgery and the affect the catheter will have on me. I have late stage breast cancer. Getting this fluid drained is really uncomfortable. I hope the catheter will bring me some relief.
Is Jaymie still doing ok ? I hope a she is , her study was a very honest account.

I went for a lung drain yesterday. Doctor said he was able to get about 1/3 of the fluid before my BP dropped and I passed out from the pain. It took about an hour and 1/2 to recover a decent BP so I could go home.

Probably it is good to do a research on terminal cancer survivors. And follow their recommendations.

I am glad i found this. I have a portable chest tube in currently and it keeps clogging so i will be getting a pleurX catheter placed. i have had no drainage for the last 24 hours and I am filling up again, i can feel it. I was diagnose with breast cancer in a lymph node under my arm in the process of dealing with the pleural effusion.

thank you, i got the chest tube removed, no more pleural effusion but now they think the cancer has invaded the pectoralis muscle. waiting now for a PET scan to determine treatment Thank you for responding

Thank you for this video, please help me how can I reduce the fluid in my lung daily? I was diagnosed also in lung cancer stage 4, and my catheter is almost in my right side for almost 2 and half month, but the fluid still 200 to 300 ML per day. Drinking a lots of water is connected to increase the fluid also?

Hi Chronic Love. My mother has been and is currently going through the same experience. We are in Kenya and are looking at consultations as we have hit brick wall. We've tried many doctors but it seems a solution hasn't been found yet. She's currently on oxygen and the doctors' here are again looking at draining the fluids. At this point, I feel like they're only managing the symptoms and not treating the issue.
Hi Eric, I’m so sorry your mother is battling this terrible disease. While we cannot directly offer consultation (we are not medical doctors), perhaps you can call one of the major cancer hospitals here in the United States to see if they can provide consultation for her doctors? For example, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or MD Anderson are two great hospitals here that you can try to contact. I imagine it’s well worth a try!!

Hello! I have a catheter on my right side. How do you sleep comfortably with it because I’m having a hard time sleeping at night. It’s very restless and I just want to sleep good. Please help! Thank you!
