      User is clearly seeing longer charge times and multiple disconnects during charging and you seem to be talking about a fictions 3rd gen battery.

    Lack of active cooling is the biggest negative of the car, you will figure this straightaway when trying to charge it in mid day in hot summers. Also, not having active temperature control affects the pattern in which battery ages and affects the overall pack usability. You will see its effect post 10 years may be. But lack of active cooling is why this car should be avoided, despite of many positives.

      Tata's batteries (chemistry of cells) are atleast three generations older and hence it needs active cooling both at the time of charging and discharging. New generation batteries doesnt require water/active cooling as in Citroens and BYDs. You will see the effect in tatas within 7-8 years as it doesnt withstand a larger depth of discharge nor more number of cycle discharge cycles. When you have no understanding about batteries nor EV, such misleading comments can be avoided..please..

    • @nagki
      @nagki 10 місяців тому

      @@hiran2016 Dude, don't draw and throw theories out of thin air. Tesla which uses active cooling is not latest for you? Just because it is Tata it is 3 generations older? It is known that LFP cells(used by both Tata and Citroen) doesn't need that much active thermal management in cold countries (other than keeping them warm). But in India Ambient temperature varies from 0-50 degrees, not doing active thermal management will lead to improper degradation of cells. Also, Svolt which is supplier of cells to Citroen has proprietary tech for normal air cooling, but those dragon air cells aren't in eC3.
      You are saying Tata cells will have more degradation, they can't have more DoD and charge/discharge cycles? Tata uses LFP cells too, Citroen uses some other chemistry? How does it allow better DoD and More charge/discharge cycles?
      Also, when you say BYD cells don't require thermal management, why does Atto 3 use cooling?(may not be as eloborate as Tesla or Tata, but the cooling exists). Verito uses 15 year old tech used Cooled Air to keep the battery pack temps in control. If you say that Cells used by Tata supplied by Gotion Tech is old tech which is more reputed player than Svolt(supplier for Citroen) and is using superior cells that doesn't require active thermal management, why did users face DC fast charge issue? Also, the power draw in eC3 is largely controlled which kind of keeps the battery cooler, which is clever, but how do you control ambient temperatures? Which technology in cells are you saying is helping eC3 to survive ambient 45 degrees DCFC?
      Tesla and BYD both did independent research to figure the fact that it is the thermal charecteristics that degrade Lithium batteries, NMC is more sensitive while LFP has much wider operating temperature range. Its because of this they focus everything from charging curve to cell temperatures to enhance the life of the batteries. Tata need not have done eloborate active cooling, but they still went ahead and did it. For a moment if degradation after 7 years is to be ignored(I disagree with your claim because it is baseless anyways), you will not be able to DCFC eC3 in hot areas during the day while Nexon did achieve a Guinness record driving non stop from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in the shortest time.
      Can you clarify your factless and baseless statements? Then only I can agree. Your words are on a public forum, you seem to be more casual than any of my comments.
      When two users have clearly stated the fast charging limitations of eC3, I don't see how my comment is misleading. I don't want to pay 13L to experiment.

      @nagki 10 місяців тому

      @@hiran2016 Where did you get this info that it is a blade battery, is it using Svolt L6? I don't see it anywhere mentioned. Did you happen to get access to the battery pack? Agree that blade cells have large metal surface area, but Atto 3 and other BYD cars do use single surface heat extraction even from blade cells. I don't see how and why you are saying blade cells don't need any thermal management. What happens when the ambient is very cold OR when ambient is very hot like AP or Delhi/Northern regions? whats the use of employing heatpump for battery thermal management in Atto 3 then? Just because Citroen got away with it doesn't make it right for India, if DCFC can't be done in the afternoon.
      We are not new to LFP cells not being thermally managed (we had E20 15 years before, just used HVAC air cooling), agreed that Citroen and Svolt might have done numerous tests, what if they knowingly compromised the "unable to DCFC in hot condition" limitation?
