    Discovering a few fine points for making core mining slightly easier.
    I took some screen caps of a bunch of asteroid render forms from various angles and distances.
    I waited until I had one confirmed as being 'splodable and put all of those stills in a folder by themselves.
    Then I made copies of those (correct) images and copies of a bunch of wrong ones and made a sort of flashcard set...
    I'm getting fairly good at being able to spot the crackable ones from long range now. That cuts way way down on the time and prospector limpits I waste chasing down the wrong asteroid shapes.
    I've also noted that crackable asteroids always have a fair amount of spin... which means that if it isn't spinning or isn't spinning enough, I can ignore it even if I can't see the shape clearly.
    ...and if you line up perpendicular to the axis of rotation, you can use the asteroid's spin to bring the fissures to you instead of trying to fly around chasing them down.
    This makes it possible to hit every fissure on the asteroid with a minimally explosive charge, decrease item destruction and increase yield.
    ...all within the time allowed for detonation.
    In fact, the detonation time is very satisfactory for a leisurely pace if you let the asteroid spin do the work of lining up your shots.
    I also try to line up with the asteroid with a fair amount of empty space behind me so I can just back up blind without worrying too much about hitting anything.
    Sometimes the surface deposits on the broken bits can be hard to find through the dust cloud...
    The individual deposits can be selected in the contacts panel to make them show up in your navigation scanner and get you looking in the right direction.

      Also night vision is your friend, it lets you easily see through the dust cloud and also lets you spot fissures really easily as they're pretty much glowing then.
      Also using eddb.io allows you to look for the station that buys your materials for the highest price, no matter, that goes for every type of mining. it may take some time to get to each of the different stations just to get the most money out of your mining trip but it can be especially worth it if you've either mined a ton of resources of one type or anything deep core mining.

    Here's a tip from one noob to all the others... build your mining ship to do all three styles. It doesn't cost much more, most ships have adequate hardpoints, and it will make you more money.
    1) You never know what kind of rock you're going to find. I came across a rock with low-temp diamonds in it. Couldn't do anything with it because I followed the standard advice, "start out with laser mining" and didn't have a way of cracking the rock open. I missed out on potentially millions of credits simply because I didn't put the seismic cannon on my ship.
    2) Some rocks can be mined multiple ways. It is possible to laser the surface, fire subsurface missiles, and then crack open the core all on the same rock. Even if it isn't always possible, necessary, or profitable... why deny yourself the ability?

      Don’t blame you. You need to find fissures and target them directly by moving your ship in to alignment for subsurface detonation. Surface mining does have a higher yield overall anyways, so detonation mining best for the boom boom

    Solid video with some good tips. One thing to point out: it looks like your seismic charge meter is in the red every time you go to detonate them, resulting in you only breaking 2 pieces loose. If you get it that graph to stay in the blue, I usually break off 10-15 chunks.
    Also, if you do find that you’ve exceeded your yield range, you can manually select the seismic charge in the contacts tab and disarm it, so you don’t ruin the whole asteroid.
    I found your section in n subsurface missile very helpful. Thanks again! 🤘🏻

    When going for Low Temperature Diamonds take about 3/4, or more, of your cargo hold in collector and prospector limpets. That way you can be pickier with witch astroids to deplete. I use 11 to 13 A3 collector limpets in my T-10 to speed things up. With Void Opals about 1/2 cargo capacity in limpets will do as you only fire a prospector limpet at astroids that light up and have visible fisure paterns. With LTD’s I’ll nail every astroid that lights up but ignore anything under 10% LTD’s hence the need for more limpets. May the cores favor you!

    I just recently started playing(I know, late to the game lol), but man I love the mining in this game. It's not the old boring point a laser and go to sleep. Well, there is a laser for one type, but there is more to it than just that lol. I'm only a week old in the game, but my passion right now is hunting down void opals. Not necessarily because they pay so well(mind you I don't mind getting rich quick, like I am), but because of the what you have to do to get them. Hunting them down, cracking the rock open, and using the limpits. Just feels more realistic I guess. Takes a bit of practice to get it right also. Planting those charges on ricks that are tightly surrounded by other rocks can be quite difficult, but makes the payout feel that much better when you get it done.

    Stupid question here but what does the mining laser do if the three levels of mining are taken up with their own tools?

    • @NuLevelNerds
      @NuLevelNerds  4 роки тому

      Not a stupid question at all. They don't do a good job of explaining it. The mining laser kind of "strip mines" the surface. The other three mining tools focus on the specifically material rich spots of asteroids, which can be few and far between. There are always trace elements on the surfaces of asteroids regardless of any other deposits so the strip mining is frequently more efficient because you don't need to go hunting though the belt for a viable asteroid. Hope this helps

    You don't match the charge strength to that of the fissure. It merely means the strength of the fissure to resisting explosives a low strength fissure will have a greater impact if you put a high yield charge in it a average will have a little less impact on the yield gauge and the high strength will have the least.

    My question was on Fixed or Turreted? Will Turret's auto aim or are they Fixed unless you an persuade someone to man them and aim for you?

    • @NuLevelNerds
      @NuLevelNerds  2 роки тому

      By default turrets will auto aim at targets. They are not as powerful as fixed or gimballed but can still be useful as they will engage a target in their range. Make sure you have the power to support them since they also fire with less down time

      @@NuLevelNerds Nice. I know that Guardian Turreted Weapons are effectively just weaker Fixed weapons as they only become Turreted if you have a human crew member to manually aim them. I wondered if the Mining Turrets were the same.

    You put too many seismic charges in. Stop when the blue check mark lights up. If you go until it's red then you need to disarm a charge to bring it back down.
