Hi, I know it's 5 year's on since you did your reviews on the Triumph speed triple rs 1050, August 24 iv changed from my Yamaha MT01 1700CC, to this Speed Triple rs, and in the black and lime green, 4500 miles on it, and love it, The handling, looks, fit and finish, electronics, everything about it, Really liked your reviews, excellent, cheers, Carl D.
Bruce had my 2016 triple r for 4.5 Yr loved nearly every minute. Handling fit & finish on this bike brilliant. Had a few excellent trips to Wales on mine. 👍😀🏁
Such a beautiful bike...oh that's why I ended up buying one in 2018. Still love the bones off it every time I head out on it. Great video Bruce. 👍 Cheers from Melbourne.
Great vid again. I asked for advice from you on my corsas tyres a couple a months ago on my street triple. Great advice I got. I feel so much more confident with road 5s . Thanks 👍
“Flytippers, Vermin!” Love it! Hope you’re keeping well Bruce. Bike sounds fantastic, I’ll be watching the full review keenly when you return from Wales!
Nice review Bruce. I rode the 2018 Speed Triple but in the dry. The tyres were excellent but no mater how I rode it, I could not keep the speed down. Whatever mode it was in it just wanted to go! I purposely did not look at the speedo and estimated the speed, it was always going 20+ mph more than I thought but still rock steady! The Arrows sound great but fitting a Remus (low boy) can & removing the rear pegs/hangers looses quite a bit of weight, makes it look even better and the sound is something else! Looking forward to your thoughts after a few days of blatting about on it!
14:41 is when the music starts! You say the Superduke R is the better road bike, yes if you’re riding with your headphones at full blast music but this beast sounds much better, you gotta give it that much. Sounds so great!
It does sound great through the power and for sure, but I still prefer the big thumping twin engines personally. Both fantastic machines, and the Speedy is a joy in the twists 👍
Hi Bruce. Got a mate with a speedy what a cracking road bike. Great review. Oh went to wales on a ride yesterday found myself saying out loud “Nationals” to myself when passing the white and black signs. Cheers
new subscriber here , and I love my one of these bikes :) . I recognise some of the roads when you went under the tunnel into "bandit country" , being a local bandit and all that ;) I guess I wonder what is it like going over the bridge on a bike, going from Bandit country into Kent, I'm yet to do that ! ( only passed my test nearly of 3 years ago, that's my excuse )
One of my dream bikes, great video sir! Enjoy seeing your 'ole bill' training in use! I can hear my job instructor saying, 'get out there and have a look, let's make progress!' 😁👊🇦🇺
I have the 2016 Speed R and have loved every moment of it. It's in a class of its own, not comparing to the super naked like the SDR or Tuono. I know they are due to bring out a 180bhp version of the speed but I hope they don't ruin the magic of the speed in pursuit of keeping up with the super naked bikes. It's a joy and a gentlemen with a naughty side not a hooligan or monster.
Great vid Bruce, just love the Triumph triple sound. Had the same tyres fitted on my Aprilia RSV Millie, cracking in the dry and a absolute nightmare in the wet. Reminds me of when we would buy the race tyres at the end of racing ( lived in Northern Ireland so road racing) cut some lines in them, use for a couple of cracking days and then have to go back to a set of road legal tyres. 😁😆🤣
You mention the variable sound quality, but it was excellent, hardly any wind noise. Excellent real world review. I have to ask though, why so many shout outs/credits, I mean, how many people do you know? I've seen fewer credits on an American Oscar winner.
They are people who people who support the channel via Patreon, at a certain tier level you get a shout out in the vids, and mentioned in the end credit roll.
Have always been a fan of the triple engine, hence why I had a tiger 1050( 2010) then now a tracer 900 abs (2015. I really am itching to get back to a triumph,, possibly back to a newer version of Tiger 1050. I can only say that the speed triple is my dream bike for me. the engine on Triumph triple is nothing like it.
Great video .i love my speed rs i think the speed rs is one of the best naked bikes out there for real world speeds and riding. The handling is amazing. But i think it gets underrated because oh the bhp figure. But i challenge anyone to not have ago on one and get off with a big smile .keep up the good work 👏 👍
Fully agree. I've heard the "148, not 175" while on my 2020 and I call bullshit. Mine wheelies in 3rd off the throttle. I tested the 2019 KTM 1290 SDR and it was awesome but too much. Makes you get carried away. So bought the Speed RS and it more than enough without being too mental.
As to the GoPro audio. People talk about switching it on with the mike in and then you cannot do the start stop thing as it would loose the outside mike connection. The noisy audio is most probably due to adapters and other faffery. If you can do eliminate as much adapters as possible and soldier on a plug that does the job directly. A trip to an electronics shop and explaining your problem should sort you out. You might find someone more electronics inclined to do the job for you if you’re not that inclined.
nice camera work and editing in the beginning. Cool to see your videos getting better and better. started watching your channel because of the ktm super adventure review. Enjoying everything else too. Keep up the great work!
I recently found your channel mate and I wanted to show my admiration for following your passion in life. I have really been enjoying your video and I have subscribed.
I stay in Lewisham, so to get out of London for the twisty roads, I go the Dartford tunnel way, then through Aveley to hit them. Great to see them in the vid.
I feel your pain with the audio thing. I lost 5 days of my life trying to get get the audio to work on the DJI Osmo. Its now back in Amazons hands. So much goes into it people don't see. Hop your getting better after your hospital trip.
Reason the speed limits are endless is that legislators have no other answer to falling driving standards. Shame really. Driving training is the real answer. Compulsory retesting every few years and a staggered licence system that allows advanced motorists to observe higher speed limits in derestricted areas, with higher standards for road quality on faster roads. Anyways, great vid as always bud, I'll have to get one of these in the garage one day. Or maybe the larger capacity one I hear they're working on with 180 odd bhp. 👍
Yes...had my 2014 Bonnie, for about 6 months, I was going to Trade my Kawasaki ninja 1000GX, for a Ducati Super Sport. Changed my mind... traded the Bonnie for a 19' speed triple..!
Hey I am now officially an old guy these days never owned a Triumph but fast becoming a convert . Good initial look can not wait for the next look 👀 good one. : )
Loved the introduction video zoom in on controls and features nice touch nice stall we've all done that good to see an normal rider's assessment of what seems a top bike sounds great to Cheers Johnny Gadget Melbourne Australia
Hey Bruce, it would be nice if you could get the guys (DV, TMF, LCR...) together, each with their fave bike in (whatever) catagory and then swap around.... do a sum up... great vid, like the enthusasm you give.
A very nicely put together bike by the looks of it Bruce! Lovely. I do agree with you on the price and lack of heated grips though! Especially in the UK. Seems a bit cheap to exclude them at 13k. I've never been a fan of the twin headlight shapes (preferred the two round lights but if they work...) It does look like a bike I could live with though as an only bike but I still think at my age the new Tiger 900 is probably my favourite. Great vid, can't wait for the in depth review!
Great review again Bruce what a fantastic bike Dolores a naked. Sadly it’s a bit too small for me now and probably too quick too. My legs don’t.bend like they used to do and I’ve got a bit of weight on now I’m retired. Must say I enjoy you vlogs mate and pls keep them coming looking forward to you next one
Looks like the south east sucks for riding bikes. Just too crowded. We seem to be heading further north each time to miss the crowds. Triumph looks great.
I liked it a lot when I test rode one in 2018. The colour scheme back then was so much better than now. I nearly bought one, but wouldn't buy one now. As nice as the RS is to ride, it's been a bit left behind on the power front.
Nice review. Toying with part ex on one of these using my Z100SX which is PCP. Prob take up a similar deal, as u say its not a cheap bike. But looks fantastic. I need a test ride. More fun than the z1000?
Love the channel mate. Have you had a ride of the mt09 I’m looking at getting the speed or a mt09. I have my own channel here in Sydney Australia. Keep it up mate I just hit the sub
Phenomenal. It’s a very well mannered engine, smooth and understated - yet twist the throttle and there is SO much power and drive available. I genuinely loved this bike - it would be between this and the new Super Duke R for my ultimate road bike. I think the Superduke would win for me purely because of the hooligan reputation and it’s mental big twin engine
Another great video. I've got a 2019 RS. 8 1/2 thousand miles in and I'm still loving it. I hear you when you say about the 20 40 and 50 speed limits a friend of mine and myself ride together all the time, and we were discussing this ,it seems as though almost overnight half the 60 mile an hour speed limits have been reduced to 50 or 40 I think they are doing it in secret.
I hear various reasons put forward as to why speed limits have reduced. Council's cite 'safety reasons' but rarely supply evidence of accident The paranoid suggest its 'to top up the numbers of speeders caught by the safety camera nazis'. But the most convincing reason in my mind was a comment that councils have worked out that this extends the life of the road surface and results in fewer repairs. Thus saving money. And that, in my opinion, is why. Just follow the money.
I have the lesser 2020 “S” model and it’s a great bike. Probably a bit too sporty for my needs but would recommend trying one if your in the market for a fast naked. Mine’s got the same tyres and I ridden in some appalling weather without issue, you just need to be mindful as with any bike.
Beautiful bike, but I can not help feeling that this design with two big cans under the seat is getting a bit old now, would like to see a design update. Will look forward to more rides of this bike in the coming weeks. Ps. on the design of bikes! have you tested the Honda CB1000R Plus ? the design is more "mature" and it is suppose to suit taller riders, would love to hear your take on it.
The Speed despite looking down on power compared to the latest super nakeds, has a wall of torque available throughout the rev range so feels quicker imo than the numbers suggest. Build quality is lovely as well but I don't like the 2020 colours. Cheers Bruce
Great review, I test rode one in 2019 and compared to my 16S the pegs were noticeably higher but I could acclimatise to it. The RS in road mode felt like my S in Sport mode but quicker and more responsive everywhere. The matt black paint looked dull next to mine and the current green highlights look tacky (the white/black red highlights is slightly better) and I had real problems getting the bike to read the keyless key. Its a really comfortable and responsive ride and I was tempted but for the price to upgrade! Its better but not streets away from my S, Triumphs problem is shifting these when everyone knows there's a new model around the corner which, with the bigger engine, should be the step change we're waiting for. And if they bin the keyless and improve the colour palette (ahem and rumours of quickshifter problems) then what's not to like. Could it be better than an SDR that has an appalling list of faults including (similar rumours of) front brakes slamming on 👍
Bruce, why dont you use a GoPro Hero 4 black for your Helmet Cam? You can just plug a decent Mic into it and will still record at 1080P 60fps. Dont have to worry about the stupid Gopro mic adapter.
The bike is great on smooth roads but I find the suspension too stiff on B roads. Wants to stand up but I put this down to not being 18 stone cause 2 up its better!
Superb initial overview. Yup the GoPro cameras have got flakey audio, the Hero 7 is better than the Hero 8 that one drives me crazy, I have 2 audio adapters one is more reliable than the other!! Shame as the GoPro footage is awesome.
One thing that would pea me off with the bike is everytime I got home I would have to clean the 2 radiators as it looks like they are a crap magnet from the front wheel
# nice video and nice editing, Helpful review. , drive daily to work in the city and also the highway( Commuting) and sometimes during a weekend round of recreational so, Is this bike good enough and usually commuting friendly? don't like Adventure such an engine, love Naked bike & sport tour bike so what is your opinion? Speed triple or Street..... Any way great video Be safe
Hi Petroos, The Street is a great wee bike and more than capable enough as a road bike, it’s just too small for me at 6’3” and 20 stone, so the bigger Speed is better for me. I’d happily commute on either one
You said that the KTM is the best road bike. Just a question (and really not trying to be smart); What about the Tuono? I'm a huge fan of V twins, so I'm pretty sure that it's going to be the SD1290GT for me, but I'm interested in your opinion. The reality is that I'll test the bikes I can and make my choice from those. Currently, my short list is KTM Super Duke 1290 R/GT Speed Triple Possible but improbables; Tuono V4. Ducati Streetfighter V4 I'm just not convinced by 4 cyl machines. I'd rather lose a bit of top end for bottom/mid. Have you tried the Tuono? I know that it depends so much on the kind of riding you do, but I'm just as interested in YOUR point of view.
Looks great! I do like a bike with a bit of a black/flouro paint job. I do hope those baffles are removable? Just needs a radiator & oil cooler guard plus a tail tidy. Even looks like it has a "Teapotone" riding mode (the helmet symbol). :-) Why can't BMW do illuminated switchgear?????
Bruce the councils have worked out that if you drop the speed limits the roads don’t need to be maintained to the same standard. We get more bad tarmac pit holes they save money
I really must give one of these a go. Damn you and your ‘nationals!’...I was in Germany last week saying that on the autobahn. Funnily enough, didn’t exceed the speed limit in the unrestricted sections. 🤔
Hi, I know it's 5 year's on since you did your reviews on the Triumph speed triple rs 1050,
August 24 iv changed from my Yamaha MT01 1700CC, to this Speed Triple rs, and in the black and lime green, 4500 miles on it, and love it,

I did the same. That's when the colour schemes were great too.
This feels like it’s part of you, even the bit when you stall it. Love it 😊. Good vid. 🙌🏻
Nice audio quality this time. Great video. I was wanting to not like this as much as Lamb Chops and others. But no, superb job matey!! Quality!!
Great vid again. I asked for advice from you on my corsas tyres a couple a months ago on my street triple. Great advice I got. I feel so much more confident with road 5s . Thanks 👍
“Flytippers, Vermin!” Love it! Hope you’re keeping well Bruce. Bike sounds fantastic, I’ll be watching the full review keenly when you return from Wales!
feels like you are part of the bike, stalls it, classic
Previously had an older Speed, but now have a Street 765rs both great bikes. Great vlog Cheers Teapot.

So glad you told us you enjoyed the ride Bruce lol That sound is pure music to the ears
14:00 onwards .. with headphones on .. 🤤🤤🤤 ...Sensual. Great video as usual Bruce

😂👏👍
The overall quality, fit and finish is outstanding on this bike.
I was able to demo one of these today! Placed a reserve on one until January! I liked it better than the Ducati Street fighter V4S.
Awesome, enjoy it bud 👏👍
You mention the variable sound quality, but it was excellent, hardly any wind noise. Excellent real world review. I have to ask though, why so many shout outs/credits, I mean, how many people do you know? I've seen fewer credits on an American Oscar winner.
They are people who people who support the channel via Patreon, at a certain tier level you get a shout out in the vids, and mentioned in the end credit roll.
Without these people supporting the channel financially, I couldn’t do this full time - so giving them a mention is the least I can do

what a bike! it is a pity that front lamp is not having full led. BTW: are theyu not goingf to present soon completly new 2021 version ?
Yes bud, there’s a new model coming soon

Another good watch 😎☝️🇬🇧🏍 and good honest review of a beautiful bike 😎☝️🇬🇧🏍 and one I’m proud to say was a big part of my working life ,
I recently found your channel mate and I wanted to show my admiration for following your passion in life. I have really been enjoying your video and I have subscribed.
Loved the intro. Get the stats out of the way, have a good look at the bike then see what she's like on the road.
I stay in Lewisham, so to get out of London for the twisty roads, I go the Dartford tunnel way, then through Aveley to hit them. Great to see them in the vid.

That intro was magnificent bud! I can see myself on one of those at some point, I dunno would it beat out an MT10 for me though.
Certainly does on looks.
Reason the speed limits are endless is that legislators have no other answer to falling driving standards. Shame really. Driving training is the real answer. Compulsory retesting every few years and a staggered licence system that allows advanced motorists to observe higher speed limits in derestricted areas, with higher standards for road quality on faster roads.

nice with the stats at the begining. Did something similar with the gen 1290r but yours is better :)
Really missed your good looks Bruce great video love the triple engine 👍
Like the production quality on this one with the tethered text (whatever it's called, anchored?), it's a lovely addition.
Thanks Malcolm 👍

I really like the Speed triple and its looks. Great video Bruce , hope you had a good time in Wales.
Great bike with an awesome soundtrack with headphones on! Going to have to take one out for a test ride soon.....
Hey Bruce, it would be nice if you could get the guys (DV, TMF, LCR...) together, each with their fave bike in (whatever) catagory and then swap around.... do a sum up... great vid, like the enthusasm you give.
Great review. Just picked up 2014 model. Loads of power. Great fun.
Awesome, enjoy it Matt 👍
i rode one on a Triumph day and was convinced it will be my next bike. Going to wait for the new one though and have a go on that as well.
I agree Teapot my 2020 SDR is by far the best road going bike I have ever had. Been on most of the other nakeds and nothing comes close👍🏻
Love the new drop-in and roll-out intro!
"Bandit Country" pmsl.... What a bike, looks so much fun, great vid TeaPot...!
Great video Bruce! What a engine note.
Looks like the south east sucks for riding bikes. Just too crowded. We seem to be heading further north each time to miss the crowds.
Triumph looks great.
That motorcycle sounds fantastic! Great video!
I've got pirelli angel gts on my speed rs plenty of grip on those tyres in the wet
I liked it a lot when I test rode one in 2018. The colour scheme back then was so much better than now. I nearly bought one, but wouldn't buy one now. As nice as the RS is to ride, it's been a bit left behind on the power front.

I’ve not actually ridden the Z1000 yet bud
I have the same Bike and color, I just put on heated grips and they integrate with the TFT as if the were stock. They work great
ooooo .... yup ... that sounds and looks awesome... got a lovely top note ... and the "cute angry bug eye" lights appeal too .. looks like fun 😄
Love the channel mate. Have you had a ride of the mt09 I’m looking at getting the speed or a mt09. I have my own channel here in Sydney Australia. Keep it up mate I just hit the sub
Thanks bud, welcome to the channel.
No I’ve not ridden the Mt09 yet bud 👍
@@teapotone how’s the power on the speed to other 1000cc bikes you have ridden?

Just found your channel. Great content! May I know the intro music btw? Cheers
Looks to be a load of fun. What was occurring in Peterborough? I live there so I know it isn’t good biking roads 😱
I remember when I bought my R1 and it had supercorsas on it... Absolutely terrifiying in the rain lol
My old man had slicks basically on his tuono and if it was a bit chilly or slightly damp they were shit scary lol he'd barely get over 3k rpm.
The bike is great on smooth roads but I find the suspension too stiff on B roads. Wants to stand up but I put this down to not being 18 stone cause 2 up its better!
Great review as always teapotone but please stop going on about the limits and 'nationals' and just ride man ✌
I always think the speed and street triple remind me of bumblebee from the transformers and the Yamaha mt10 remind me of the decepticons
Street twin looks nothing like bumblebee hmm
But i love ur analogy, i own a street triple myself and had almost gotten an mt09 instead
Meant to say triple edited it now
Superb initial overview. Yup the GoPro cameras have got flakey audio, the Hero 7 is better than the Hero 8 that one drives me crazy, I have 2 audio adapters one is more reliable than the other!! Shame as the GoPro footage is awesome.
I want one! I am a little Triumph biased but still. Looks like a whole loada fun that and good looking bike too 👌
Could you share a link to your handlebar phone holder please? Thx
One thing that would pea me off with the bike is everytime I got home I would have to clean the 2 radiators as it looks like they are a crap magnet from the front wheel
I'm looking for a new bike and this is on my test ride list..
Do you make sure the fork and shock are set up for your weight / riding preference before riding to get the best out of the bike?
# nice video and nice editing, Helpful review. , drive daily to work in the city and also the highway( Commuting) and sometimes during a weekend round of recreational so, Is this bike good enough and usually commuting friendly? don't like Adventure such an engine, love Naked bike & sport tour bike so what is your opinion? Speed triple or Street.....
Any way great video
Be safe
Hi Petroos,
The Street is a great wee bike and more than capable enough as a road bike, it’s just too small for me at 6’3” and 20 stone, so the bigger Speed is better for me.
I’d happily commute on either one
Good vid fella, I have the last R model and love it. Which Ultimate add ons mount do you have on? Want to purchase as looks perfect position. Cheers
Currently, my short list is
KTM Super Duke 1290 R/GT
Speed Triple
Possible but improbables;
Tuono V4.
Ducati Streetfighter V4
I'm just not convinced by 4 cyl machines.
The speed limits in this country are frustrating, the plus point is I have no problem keeping up with traffic on 90% of the roads I ride on my 125cc.
This or tuono v4 factory?
Loving the intro.....👍👍
I think it’s a better looking than the duke and sounds great have fun
Beautiful bike.
We have the same problem with speed limits in Oz but all in kilometres. Where yours ar 40MPH ours would be 40 KPH
Got talking to a guy on one of theses, amazing lookin bike, he had his in white
I really must give one of these a go. Damn you and your ‘nationals!’...I was in Germany last week saying that on the autobahn. Funnily enough, didn’t exceed the speed limit in the unrestricted sections. 🤔
New one coming out soon though!
Aye, 186bhp or there abouts! Can’t wait to give that a go 😉👍
Think there is a new one next year with new engine.
Nice bike, nice review. Btw, 1:10 only one L in calipers..
