      Not a vlogger but I'm currently working on a short cinematic edit of a camping trip my friends and I went on. Was definitely challenging because all I have is a Canon Rebel T3i and I shot in a lot of low light scenarios but I think it turned out great. Hope to have it uploaded in the next day or two!

    Thanks so much for the tip! I am wracking my brain for ideas on how to form a story with my vlogs...so far, I am showing the meals that I make. I hope that's a compelling enough story!

      a story is as simple as waking up and going for a walk in the forest. Im struggling as well and I think the best thing is to write, shoot, edit repeat... it'll get better .

    I've been vlogging for less than 3 months. I'm a husband, father, and travel as a Christian conference speaker who equips other believers to experience a lifestyle of supernatural compassion. This is a perfect way for me to share more of my life, marriage and family, and some of the amazing things we experience, places, we go and people we meet. Thanks Ryan! Enjoyed your video and subbed.

    Hey Ryan. This is the first video I’ve seen of yours and it has really helped me grasp some context for filming our vlogs. I’ve been struggling with feeling like our vlogs are boring due to a non interesting life. But now especially after watching this I think with some creativity and work we can tell our story well. Thanks man

    Hey Ryan, just discovered your channel through this video. Love your down to earth style. I am UK filmmaker stepping into UA-cam. Just discovered I was solely restricting myself from storytelling in vlogs on UA-cam. I was working so hard on injecting story into my work outside of UA-cam that I overlooked the capability of this platform. Thank you for highlighting storytelling in vlogs. I think this is really what sets you apart from other creators. I make travel, bushcraft, wild camping videos for fun... Coming soon with a new injection of story!

  • @DylanM15
    @DylanM15 6 років тому

    Completely agree. Some vlogs definitely are just vlogs to post a persons day and tell their story but those usually are maybe the ones who don't stay extremely relevant long term unless it turns just scripted or fake in a way. A friend wanted me to jump into vlogging style videos and I'm wanting to but it's so much more than just filming a day and uploading. My idea and how most do at that conflict is through a questions being answered through the vlog, whether it's on content creating, current events, gear, and so on.

  • @wearejungians

    A very small percentage of Vloggers will succeed for these exact reasons. You can’t just record a day of you going grocery shopping without another reason to stay. It’s a give & take. You take their time and give them some value.

    hi Ryan! I only do photography ATM. Want to do also video and cinematography in the future. But i don't think vlogging is something for me. I speak dutch as main language and can talk an write english but not that good...
    AND if vlogs are not in english nobody would understand it... (Dutch speaking people are Belgium and the Netherlands).
    I see that you are very inspired by casy and Peter! Mix those 2 styles and you go something amazing.
    Keep making vlogs, tutorials, stories Ryan and i am shure people will find there ways to your channel ;)

    • @DylanM15
      @DylanM15 6 років тому

      What I've found with youtube is that you build your brand through finding a specific but simple niche you are in and building a solid community around that. I'd give it a chance though if you want to try and do video and cinematography as well. Maybe there is a group of people in Belgium and the Netherlands that speak Dutch that are wanting photography knowledge and vlog style content. From my knowledge there are hundreds of people trying to be photo and video pages in english but I don't know if I've seen many attempting to be Dutch/English speaking Vloggers and photo/video creators! You may be the first! The first to be able to reach out to a whole new group of Dutch creators and inspire the next generation of young creators from those Dutch speaking countries!

    • @saintmichael5224
      @saintmichael5224 6 років тому +1

      Jurian Cuypers it’s even better for you bro. Think about all the Dutch and Belgium audience that you will have. Think about that. You don’t really need to speak English to vlog bro. Imagine if you can get all that audience tho.

    I just wanna say that gear really never matters. I'm a musician in high school and I've noticed if I play on a professional clarinet or a better piano, yeah I'll sound better but if you don't have anything to play whats the point? You've just gotta make do with what you have. I've been using the same clarinet that I learned with and I love learning different styles of music to play on it. I will still end up killing it no matter which clarinet I play bcuz in the end it's all about doing with what you have I guess.

    You're my favorite youtuber/creator so thus far homie. A nice balance between technical ability, genuine personality, and cinematic style that is enjoyable to follow. Mad peeps out there go off the deep end focusing too much on "cinematic" everything and it gets saturated with teal and orange, zoom transitions, all set to pop edm. You keep it real and I appreciate that. Keep it up. < Posted the same thing on your IG because I didn't realize you wanted a comment on your YT haha.
    I'm a vlogger but I've been busy so all I've been putting out is the small commercial jobs I've been able to get done. After my last two weeks of my licensing exam are over I can get back to creating.

    As of right now I'm struggling to find the balance, to make it cinematic but to not let it take me from the moment, i dont want to place a camera down and pretend im doing somethig that ive already done, id rather get the event as it unfolds. All i can do is continue to create and hopefully find my style

    • @moodybyname
      @moodybyname 6 років тому

      Beor Ong, I decided to watch one of your videos to see whats wrong - I picked Back to Tokyo cos it sounded interesting. You made it cinematic - all good - but you missed out on the main bit - telling me stuff. I didn't get to see any of your personality. I didn't get to see any thoughts, reason or purpose. Even if you had narated over it a bit and had some talking to camera, it would have been much better as a vlog. It felt like a commercial for something. Lots of nice clips strung together well - but no narrative. Just my thoughts. Good luck!
