You do such beautiful paintings, I can't seem to find the words to express how happy I am that I found your channel yesterday. I'm coming back. Thank you!
Thank you so much 😀 I'm deligheted your enjoying my tutorials which says it all 😍🤗. I try and upload one a week so hope to 'see you' again soon. - Paul
Dear Paul, I just have to leave a comment again! I never enjoyed painting videos or tutorials as much as I enjoy yours. It really is like you described it in another video: magic! It amazes me every time to watch you bringing all the colours together and creating so much beauty! I love autumn woods and I adore your ability to catch them up in a picture.
Wow, thank you so much for your kind comments. I've been a bit snowed under with other stuff so once again thank you. I hope you'll have a go at painting your own fall paintings 😃😃
Thank you so much 😀Annie. The moo'er was inspired by yuor lovely paintings. A little more abstract maybe but loads of fun. Its actually a very textured painting on board. I built up the surface with artex and pva glue ( I think you call it spakle or plaster ). I just used a lolly stick ( popsicle stick ) to create the shape and fur texture. The rest is just me running amock with acrylic. 😃😃🥰
@@PaulRansonArt I love it and the added texture is brilliant! I think I have some lolly sticks some where - gonna have to try painting with those soon. Fun to chat with you 👋😍
Beautiful, gorgeous, fantastic, stunning (running out of words to describe your painting). Thank you for sharing your original painting tutorial with us Paul. I never heard of bokeh before and am anxious to try it.
My pleasure 😊Cheryl. Your comments are wonderful and I look forward to feedback everytime. Now before my head swells any more - happy Bokeh painting. 😘
Bob did the odd coloured underpainting. One in particular was 'Indian Summer' This is a favourite of mine and I painted my version of it for the channel . Here it is ua-cam.com/video/h0EFENwueaA/v-deo.html
This is absolutely gorgeous work , Paul. Just love you way you added depth to the Mistry forest. The tiny foliage detail work looks visible and perfectly done the pathway. The end result is outstanding. Love this fall work. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much 😀Heema. I do so love your kind comments. I hope to do some more of my own stuff as time goes by. I have lots of originals so plenty to keep me busy 🥰
Thank you so much 😀Robbie. Getting into making some #shorts. Quicker to make and with a dash of humour. I'll be making some on a regular basis as its really helping with the channel numbers. 🤗🤗
Sounds great Stephanie. As a suggestion, try using Cad Red Light or Medium for your trees. Bob's landscape Bright red can sometimes look a little dull as its an earth tone. The cadmium colours give a greater pop so use with care 🥰😎
Hi Corinne 🥰 Thank you - This was a lovely scene to paint at one of my favourite times of the year ( I love Spring and Autum ) I hope you get to paint your own version - big art hug from Paul 😃😎
Thank you so much for your kind donation to the paint fund. As I mention, all the funds go back into the pot for new materials for the next painting. Do you have a favourite Bob Ross painting? Let me know and I'll add it to my list. best wishes - Paul 😎
I tried this one. It didn’t come out nearly as good as yours, but I’m quite happy with it. It definitely came out better than I thought it would. Thank you so much for the guidance!!! I learned a lot doing this also (hint- when Paul gives his tip of ‘make it dark enough’ LISTEN TO HIM!! I worried I was drowning everything out and I wish I’d listened), so I think I’m going to try it again.
Great to hear! Now confession time - most of my originals need reworking but then so did all the great works of art😃 Gainsborough, DaVinci, Constable .. the list is endless. They all did test paintings and re paintings so we're in good company. 😃
Haha loved the intro, got deep into the process, it came out great, I think going original just can't be beaten, and certainly can't be claimed by others, cheers good pal 😊
Thanks a ton Damo. The long horn cattle was upposed to be a mid roll but after 20 fails I gave up - no bull! Keep on pushing out your videos too. Have you had a look at some of the free software like Tubebuddy? I may have asked before but I use this all the time to help with searchable titles and topics. I think this would help get more eyes on your videos. 😎😎
@@PaulRansonArt Oh yes I use Tubebuddy all the time, it's very helpful for getting those heavy weight keywords, I just gotta keep at it and not stop, that way the algorithm will eventually pick up my channel, well in theory that's how it should be, only time will tell 👍
@@PaulRansonArt well I don’t know how to ‘buy a coffee’ so I figured that would work LOL. Thank you for your videos. They’re inspiring, informative, and I’ve learned SO much from them 😊
I followed along an painted this. Mine isn't as nice. I think I got a little to busy with the highlights in the trees. My left side ground cover is to uniform as well. Im tempted to repaint just to see how it will differ the second time. They never come out exactly the same. It was fun though and makes me want to do some more this style. One thing I struggled with was painting the tree trunks while still using acrylics. I was using a liner brush and it just didn't want to release from the brush. I kept dipping in water to thin but the brush seemed to get sticky
Hi Don - Good to read your experiences. They mirror just about every challenge I face as I paint so your in good(?) company. Leave it a while and play with some other scenes and sneak up on a repaint for this. I find the break helps me reset my mind. I prefer synthetic brushes for acrylics. Maybe that the problem. Natural bristles seam to gum up too much and get sticky. Also check that your brush is nice and clean. Old residue can build up and acts like a magnet for fresh paint. 😀😎
Great question Michael. So far I haven't noticed any change in drying times. Acrylic paints once dry are quite water proof and oil proof so they don't tend to change the nature of the oil paints. But I will take more notice in future. Best wishes - Paul 😎
Hi Paul, just love your tutorials, especially this fall painting. Just one question before I get started. Is the underpainting done only with acrylic paint i.e. the green, red and black which you use with the sponge technique. Many thanks Paul.
Hi Alice - I started with acrylic paints mainly because they dry dry quickly and are stable under oil paint. I used brown and black acrylic which I left to dry completely ( it must be dry before you start using oils 😉) All the colours after that are oils. Hope this helps 😎😎
Hi Ana - I used acrylic paints for the underpainting. From the video I used red and green to make a warm brown. Then added black acrylic for the foreground and edges. Make sure you let this dry completely before using oil paint for glazing. Hope this helps - Paul
Dear Emese - can you buy Linseed oil? Its quite a common oil sold in lots of art shops. Iys much thinner so a tiny amount is all you need. I use the oil to wet my canvas to make spreading and blending oil paint easier. Plus you can wipe of a mistake without leaving a big stain. Keep the canvas only just wet - happy painting - Paul 😃😍😎
Hi Vicki - Look at the video at 3:58 - I used liquid clear. The easy way to check is to watch what happens when I start painting. If everything stays bright then I'm using clear. If it turns foggy then I'm using Liquid white. More often than not if you see me start a painting with acrylics I usually use clear. Hope this helps - Paul 😃😃😎😎
I look like Winnie the Pooh too! And I live near Hundred Acre Wood in West Sussex. Anyone for Pooh stick? Yes I've play that on the bridge. Best wishes Paul 😃😎

I am enjoying the mixed media approach to the wet in wet technique throughout some of your paintings. Curious, does it shorten the drying time any?

Greetings Paul. Lovely painting. AreThe green and red you have used for brown ,acrylics?
Yes, correct thet are acrylics. I often use this mixture as its so easy to vary the colour to suit the scene. Happy Painting & 2023 😎
Thank you Paul 😊
what colors did you start with ? acrylic? what acrylic colors did you use ?

So in the beginning your using, red, green and black acrylics?
Yes Vicki, - it's a nice acrylic under painting. But you choose the colours that you like! 🥰🥰
Dear Paul, unfortunately we do not have Bob Ross liquid oil in our country. What alternatives can I use instead? Thank you very much. Emese

Is the green and red acrylic paint as well as the black
Yes - at 2:34 I start adding a little black acrylic to my red/green mix to darken the edges of my painting. 😎
Did you apply liquid white first
