Hi Alex, I love your DK weight socks you knitted them up superfast and they look amazing 💖. Thank you so much for showing us and have a wonderful day x
I make DK socks all the time! I do toe up with a shadow wrap heel ! They knit up so fast and I just love them! Also I have small size 6 Canadian / US size foot so I cast on 10 stitches on double loop ! Judy ‘s magic cast on and increase on each side of both needles till I have 22 stitches per needle. I always struggle with heel flap and gusset and can’t stand Kitchener stitching the toes ! Your vlog showing how too do the shadow wrap heel was a game changer for my sock knitting and I thank you so very much ❤
Fabulous! I may try toe up next time thankyou foe the info! 🥰 so pleased ypu enjoy the shadow wrap heel, it was a game changer for me when I learnt it too! Xx
Hi Alex wow that yarn is beautiful, I’ve made some DK socks and I love them for round the house in winter they are so cozy. Aussie gold hunters was one of my husband’s favourite programs, how about “downunder gold” for a name ❤. Thank you for a brilliant video xx
I love that name!! Downunder Gold it is! It's a brilliant programme I have loved it - I didn't even realise there were still gold prospectors! They are very brave doing what they do in the heat and all the dangers of the wildlife and wild fires! Xx
Absolutely fantastic Alex. I have tied dk socks before because, like you, I have really cold feet. But the fabric was so dense I couldn’t wear them. I am going to follow your instructions but on dpns. It’s great having something new to try! Thankyou Alex!
❤❤wow!!!Alex!!!🎉🎉 That was fun!!! I have just starting making my husband dk socks!!!and Fast!!!😊 Just made myself a pair and love them using a DK commercial yarn regia this time!!!! I am a loose knitter so do 3mm and 48sts for myself!!and husband 3mm and 56sts!!!! Going to try ur recipe on my next pair and the shadow wrap !!!! Socks in a weekend!!!! Gotta love that!!!! Elaine 🏠💗 thanks so much
I didn't know reggio did dk I will have a look! Yes you gotta love socks on a weekend! 😁 I going to try some for Danny soon he needs a comfy pair of dk socks! 😁xx
I never thought of that! One of Danny's favourite drinks! Ended up calling it downunder Gold (another viewer suggested it and I couldn't resist!) But now I'm thinking we need an iron brew colourway! Xx
Yes they are quite a similar fit although the shadow wrap gives a touch more room. I like both for myself although the afterthought doesn't fit Danny so well as the shadow wrap - that's why I say the shadow wrap gives a touch more room xx
Thanks,Alex, this was really interesting, I havent knitted socks in DK either. Glad you found your notes, I have a memory like a serve too😅. I love the colours , it reminds me of an Ocean Sunset. You could call it River Sunset if the water of the programme is to do with rivers. Rusty River ? 😅 I get cold feet with my medication so maybe DK woukd do me . I will have a go at these. It was nice hearing Harry in the background, bless him. Take care Alex Xx
They are very cosy and certainly warm I just need another couple more pairs now 😂 yes I had no recollection on those notes what so ever 😂 not a clue! 🙈 xx
Hi Alex, lovely video as always . Your DK socks are lovely . The yarn is gorgeous it instantly reminded me of a kingfisher but I think you should call it Aussie Gold Diggers as that’s where you got the inspiration and it will be a unique name! Thanks for sharing all your top tips. ❤😊
I never even thought of Kingfisher - it does have a kingfisher look doesn't it! I ended up calling it Downunder Gold - managed to get froggy a sweater out of the leftovers too! He looks very snazzy 🥰xx
Aw fab I'm planning to film a tutorial next week maybe you could join in and see how you get on? And I have just been informed that at wool warehouse the yarnsmiths sock yarn is on offer until the end of April (I do like an offer!) I have been and looked this morning and it's 5.90 a ball!! I'm placing an order anyway for my tutorial so I may aswell try that yarn too! 🥰 xx
I’ve just jumped on your channel and am not a sock knitter, having done 1 pair which were ok, I’m suck with 2nd pair syndrome! I fell in love with your new yarn. I think you’re going to make up a ton because I’m going to try to get that one! I think you should call it kingfisher as all those shades reminded me of a kingfisher. Im now subscribed here and IG. Looking forward to seeing these DK socks. What time will you be putting up the yarn and will it be in your website? Great vlog.
Aw thankyou so much for joining me! I'm a bit of a sock addict 🤣 the yarn goes on sale at 7pm on the 1st of every month. Dk yarn is a newer yarn for us but there will be plenty coming in the future! Xx
I just found you because I was looking at DK weight socks ndk soft yarn. Earth Tones girl has just released a DK weight sock pattern and her video came out today if you would like to see it here on UA-cam she also is including the shadow wrap heel
Hi, another great video. Lovely colours in the yarn, very pretty , 😍. I have knit dk bed socks for one of my sisters with baby yarn, but she has very small feet and had to lace them with ribbon( like baby bootees) so they would stay on her feet all night!! I didn't put heels in with them being for bed socks. If I was making her 4 ply socks think I would cast on 30 sets, so how many do you think I should cast on in dk?? Thanks for the recipe, will maybe make some for myself 😊xxx
I was scratching my head for a second there until I saw the reply! I would try 20 sts on each needle but if the rib is still loose how about 18 sts for the rib then cast on to 20 sts when you have completed the rib? I had mine on all day yesterday they were very cosy! Xx
Thanks Alex the dk socks are lovely I have used dk baby yarn for bed socks and they are so cosy 😊
What a brilliant idea!! I will try that!! Xx

I never thought of that! One of Danny's favourite drinks! Ended up calling it downunder Gold (another viewer suggested it and I couldn't resist!) But now I'm thinking we need an iron brew colourway! Xx
Fabulous socks! Quick question - how does the shadow wrap heel fit compared to an after thought heel?? Or are they very similar in fit?
Yes they are quite a similar fit although the shadow wrap gives a touch more room. I like both for myself although the afterthought doesn't fit Danny so well as the shadow wrap - that's why I say the shadow wrap gives a touch more room xx
The colour is fabulous ❤ I forgot to say xx
Thankyou so much! Xx
Enjoying your podcast on dk knit socks. How about Sea Urchin as a name for the yarn. 😊 ❤😊

I am converted to dk socks! They are fab! 😁xx
Hi, another great video. Lovely colours in the yarn, very pretty , 😍.

I mean 60 stitches, 30 on each needle 😂xx
I was scratching my head for a second there until I saw the reply! I would try 20 sts on each needle but if the rib is still loose how about 18 sts for the rib then cast on to 20 sts when you have completed the rib? I had mine on all day yesterday they were very cosy! Xx
@@myyarnycorner thank you Alex, I will try what you suggest. Sorry for the confusion, that's what happens when I've had 1 glass of wine 😂😂😂xx
Hi Alex. Great informative and fun video. I hope you don't mind me asking, but what is your shoe size?
I don't mind at all! I am a UK size 6 😁xx
