I’ve just bought a Bind n Fly Bob57 from iFlight after flying Dji fpv for about a year n half and Avata since November.
Literally well excited and I’m sure this video will provide invaluable information.
It’s mental how little info is out there. Due to me coming from Dji, everything is so simple with regard to charging batteries , binding and getting in the air.
I know once I’m up n flying I’m guna be loving it! Cheers!
I believe Albert usually changes the motor direction to non standard in BetaFlight, to avoid grass juice getting on the camera lens. Right there on the upper left of the Config page is where you indicate it, as “motor direction is reversed”. To change actual direction in ESCs, go into BL Heli configurator. I did the same on all quads, used to have to clean the lens after each pack. Never again. When using the config, the motors may show rotation not only normal, but a combo or normal and reversed, just change each one opposite to whatever is in there. Don’t forget to change the props accordingly. Need the battery connected when in the config. If not using the config, would have to swap by resoldering any two of three wires per motor.

Just a thought, I have a simple button switch set up on the bench between the battery and the quad which allows me to easily connect/disconnect the power to the quad. I use this for testing on all of my quads as it provides an effective method to control the power source. Great for binding. Thanks Again!

Hi Albert did you know if the geprc toothpik can handle an 30g HD cam? Or It have low esc
It will probably fail eventually. It's too much weight.
What was the point/benefit of changing the channel at the end? Is that how you changed it to 200mW?? Does it give you better signal?
I just changed it to the channel I use. You can change it to whatever you want.
Hi Albert, Shouldn't one of the first things that you do after bind and connecting the FC to you computer is to save the CLI Dump / Diff All configuration settings before making any changes to BetaFlight? That's not a big issue as much these days since one can usually find someone who has the same dump file or the manufacture will often post it as well, but sometimes it can be a pain if you "nerf" the setup and have go looking to find a cli dump. (Tip #139 on how I learned the hard way...lol)
*This is a very good and quick intro setup to anyone just starting out.*
There's probably about 20 more best practices that could have made it into this video but I've decided to keep it simple for the beginner crowd. There are plenty of other video creators that will make the two hour video but that will never be me. Ten minutes or less is my motto.
@@AlbertKimTV - Good point, less than 10 minute is good. However, as I said, it's no longer that big of an issue since usually one can find a copy of the dump somewhere anyway.
Yep, that's another reason why I didn't bother to include it in this video. Most beginners will freak out when they see the CLI... LOL.
Albert Kim - True dat! CLI scares the crap out of a lot of people, but right now it’s a necessary evil, like the primary system in U.S. Politics.

I think it is possible to add a spectrum receiver but I don't have any of that gear so never tested it.

Trying to get into fpv drones but don't know how to properly do this (The video is helpful but confusing to me (Not saying its bad or anything really good and explained well))do u know any fpv drones around the price 300-450 that is already setup and dont need to do this (If their are any more then that please tell) ik some drones like the dji fpv drone and the tinyhawk 3

My throttle value is at 1000. How do I reduce the value? Also my GEPRC Phantom will not arm. Installed my flysky receiver and it is responding but quad will not arm. Flight mode switch is working fine. In the modes tab it is given me a red color on the arm box
You need to adjust the min throttle value to something higher than the lowest value (in your case 1000). So make it like 1010 and then it should arm.

Hello I have a frotini f4 flight controller I recently bought I also bought a radio link at9 with the receiver that comes with it , I’ve connected it all up the transmitter I Ds to the receiver with powered with a battery but dose not arm I’ve also spends days on end trying to use beta flight receiver tab but I get no input on the sticks I’ve watched almost all problem shoot videos on UA-cam but still have no luck please CAN SOMEONE HELP????
Hey Albert, great video. I am having trouble with my cinepro/taranis x9 lite/r-xsr. I can see they bind as the light turns green. I connect to betaflight no problem as I see the quad moves, but when I go to the transmitter button, it is not recognized. Nothing moves, gimbal or switches. Please help. Thank you.
I've tried all the ports. Nothing.
Make sure your receiver is in SBUS mode and not PPM mode. This is a common problem with R-XSR receivers.

Will I need to assign the arm and mode switches to channels 5 and 6 on the jumper before I go to betaflight. And do I set the switch as simple or complex. Also the jumper has two frsky options, which one do I need to use.
I plan to make a generic transmitter betaflight setup video. It won't be transmitter specific so you'll need to know how the buttons work on the T12. I already made that video in the review.

Hi Al, I think I'm having a loss of connection to my flight controller due to the pin connection in the flight stack on this quad. Do you known if there is something I can do? When I lift off and hover I'm good until I throttle up or hard, then the quad does this silly flip to the backside and goes down like a loss of power. Any help would be greatly appreciated. What would you recommend me to buy? Also, I have a flysky fs-i6 transmitter... The GEPRC is very good. I haven't tried the Skylord. The Flysky will work OK. Try the Flit14+ receiver.

Thanks for the content as always! Do you have any thoughts on people saying there's lower latency in D8 mode vs D16? Do you tend to flash your XM+'s with RSSI on 16 or 8?
I flash the RSSI 8-channel firmware. I don't notice any difference in latency between D8 and D16. If anyone can show proof of a latency difference that normal people can tell (not some oscilloscope), please let me know where to watch that video because I don't believe it exists.
Albert Kim thanks for the reply! this is what I was thinking as well, seems like fewer channels would mean less info to process and shorter loops but can we really perceive that small difference in frame rate? Not convinced haha. Also, using your sailfly and 349 tunes and they're top notch 👌🏼 all I have to do now is add smart cell profiles

Are you sure it has a compatible receiver? I don't think they sell those with spectrum receivers...

Which frsky receiver? Which transmitter? Is the transmitter in the same mode as the receiver? There are several modes a Frskry receiver can be in. D16, D8, D16-LBT, D16-EU, etc... I need more information.

hello! I would be very grateful if you answer a question that I have. I happen to be new to fpv, I have a radiomaster tx16s controller and I'm buying a Lumenier QAV-S JohnnyFPV BNF drone. It includes the new DJI air unit. From what I understand, the dji air unit 3 is just the video system for the googles and the drone's camera. The question is ¿what kind of transmitter can I buy? ¿Do I have to buy a transmitter separately?
Do you mean what kind of goggles? For the O3 system you need the Goggles 2 or Goggles Integra. You already have a transmitter (Radiomaster). If you're wondering what kind of receiver you need, there's a ton of options. Sounds like you need some extensive assistance. I offer help via chat for $50/hour. Let me know if you'd like to do that.

Hi Albert. I ordered a Gep phantom with xm+ receiver. I'm trying to bind to my Taranis Qx7. There are no lights on the receiver and the lights on the second and third boards never change. On the left side solid green and red with a flashing blue and towards the back a combination of green red and blue. What am I doing wrong?
Not sure what you mean by 2nd and 3rd boards, but it seems like you have a power issue on your setup. Might need to examine all your connections with a multimeter. Maybe there is a short somewhere or maybe you have a loose wire and it got disconnected. I'll need to see photos of all the connections to be able to diagnose.
