Thank you Pamela for this FANTASTIC recommendation! 🤯💜
If you guys like Voiceplay I actually did a cover of them singing this song ua-cam.com/video/LIhjMYoFvBo/v-deo.html where I actually spoke more in depth about Phil Collins and the origins of this song.
& here is an article that I read where it mentioned the Programmed drums if anyone is interested in a read www.mixonline.com/recording/classic-tracks-phil-collins-air-tonight-365521

Please check out Little Drummer Boy by For King and Country…drums drums & more drums 😎😎!! My hubby was a drummer…I miss him 🐨🐨🐨🇦🇺
Plz react to this. As a drummer you will LOVE it ...promise!
When you're overqualified for the job
ua-cam.com/video/-UYgORr5Qhg/v-deo.html
VoicePlay's Layne did an excellent rendition of the drums.
Not a single electronic device in the crowd. People actually watching, listening, feeling, experiencing, and being present intently.
That's probably bc there weren't any...
Agree, when you went to a concert and 'saw it with your own two eyes' not through device☺️
@@Asta453 I think that's the point that was being made. 😀
simply not true you can see people recording with digital cams at several places especially just before he sits down to drum , also flashes from camaras ll the time (they may not be electronical but does the same) this was recorded in 2004 not the dark ages.if people wanted to be distracted they could be
One thing that blows me away, is that he was the only artist who got to play live in London and Philadelphia during Live Aid. Plus the fact he can sing while playing the drums and sing well.👌
He is so talented. To keep that drum beat and sing with such emotion and power like that was something to behold! 🤯😱
I remember watching the concert at a campground clubhouse. My best friend and I swore there was no way we’d miss it. We got to the clubhouse and just told people sorry but this is what we’re watching. I actually have the entire event on DVD.
I remember watching that on TV. It was one hell of a concert!
Your so lucky!!!!!
Bless his heart he was the busiest man At live aid😂 😂😂
Your energy is magic responding to Phil.
Great reaction, I could watch Phil play this over and over again!
Live is better than album.
At 70 I watch this at least once a week. Phil is the GOAT love love love him.
Never tire of watching reactions of this stunning performance! What an absolute icon! Never piss off Phil cuz he’ll write a song about it and throw it out there for the world to hear😂! Best divorce song ever!
It is reported that his ex wife HATES this song.
This song has to have one of the best beat drops ever, hands down.
I'm always amazed that people don't know or forget that Phil is a DRUMMER who can sing.
And also how steady his voice is when he plays is also AMAZING.
The dark lyrics and moody drum sounds reflected the anger and sadness the musician felt leading up to and following their 1980 divorce.
Collins has explained that the drowning is symbolic, representing the pain and anger he was feeling at the time. The line really connected as a rebuke, entering the lexicon along with sayings like "I wouldn't give you the time of day" and "not if you were the last person on Earth."
Yeah it's crazy how he keeps his voice so consistent and steady his voice is. If heard drummers sing but never as good as singing when not playing drums, Phil is literally just as good singing on drums than without them
This is why he’s a legend.
I’ve seen this a million times and every time I watch it I get nervous he isn’t going to make it to the drums in time. 😂😂
This was the best version of that song I HAVE EVER SEEN!
I don't know if you caught it, but as Phil approaches his drum kit, you can see the drums rising up to the platform/stage just before the lights spotlight them and as he sits down to play.Awesome 😮. Phil always referred to himself self as a DRUMMER who could sing.
I was actually wondering to myself when I was editing. Where that drum kit come from cause it wasn't there initially 🤯
Yeah, I didn't catch that until someone pointed it out. So much the better. Perfect timing. Thanks.
Wow I didn't notice that, good excuse to watch it all over again 😇 👍🏻
I was going to use the old line: For a singer, he's not a bad drummer.😂
Phil Collins is a legend for a reason.
What’s interesting, if you go back & watch, the song is about his ex wife’s betrayal of their marriage. I truly believe why there’s so much intensity. On the close up “I remember, don’t worry” and a couple times during close ups, there’s a lot of anger in that intensity. He looks like he’s playing the whole thing back in his head as he sings, then the release of that anger in the way he positively assaults those drums
Phil Collins 🔥🔥This performance🔥🔥Your reaction🔥🔥
This comment 🔥🔥
All the time he was walking around the stage there were no drums on that rear catwalk, until he got about ten feet away... They came up through the floor. Perfect timing for that iconic drum drop.
Great performances also - not only from the other musicians on set, but the sound and lighting crew. Everyone came together to give a performance second to none.
Thanks for posting.
Th white bearded guy is the famous bass guitarist Leland Sklar (American bassist and session musician). who has played with other famous/great music groups like the Bee Gees, Toto, The Section, Era, & Rick Roberts band. To name a few.
It is such a sad thing that Phil can no longer play the drums live! due to severe health, i.e. spinal condition (after a spinal injury in 2007). If you're interested there is a lot of information online about Phil Collins and his life and health. All of his children are talented. His sons Nicholas & Simon are following in Phil's footsteps as two additional great drummers. His youngest son is pursuing his dreams to play football.
Lee Sklar is currently touring with Lyle Lovett And His Large Ensemble.
I just posted about him too. Leland Sklar is amazing and has played on over 2,000 albums.
Pure joy. Thank you.
Written about his divorce, what talent to create something so beutiful from pain and sadness ❤
I loved your reaction!
i can't believe i'm so old.
I have seen so many reactions on this song (one of my favorite songs from when I was younger and still is!)…but your reaction rates up in the top 3! Your reaction was like watching a kid on Christmas morning! Which is so fun bc you’re a drummer yourself…you didn’t know whether to clap or drum with him and loved the joy on your face! Great reaction! 👏👏👏
The one time in my life when I become a DRUMMER no matter where I am, and EVERY TIME it comes on!!!!
OMG YOUR JOY!!! ❤❤❤
Yep!!!
Great reaction Shane ! Thank you for sharing bro 🙌🏼🎶☀️ keep being you !🤙🏼
I thoroughly enjoyed your joy with this one. That part where he does that convulsive screaming gets me every single time with on this one. True artistry.
Phil is a drummer who sings!!
Well that was a reaction and a half 😊
Top reaction 😊
Great reaction my man 👍
Lovely seeing such a genuine reaction, you were literally jumping with joy :D awesome reaction to such a powerful song.
Best reaction to this video I have ever seen!
Thank you 😊 💓
I saw this same performance in Florida on his First Final Farewell Tour and the entire concert was amazing...check out more from this concert... he ran around on stage, danced, sang (perfectly) and never seemed to get tired..so glad i can say i saw this live
Nothing compares to his concert at Live Aid. He was on fire.
Loved.your reaction
Love it when 'newbys' hear Phil Collins................I watch him every week.......x
This video will never get old. One of my favorite songs from my childhood!
He's such an awesome guy! This performance is one of the best that I have ever seen.i wish I could have been there. I fell in love with his music. I pray for him with his health problems. God bless you, Phil! ❤❤❤
I've rarely seen pure joy on a grown man's face. You showed me that. I subbed just due to your fabulous reaction to a true artist.
Thank you. Just love music & Phil Collins is just an absolute fantastic musician he deserves the love!
Awesome true reaction 😊 keep up the great work 😁
Loved your reaction 😅❤❤❤❤
Your joy and passion is refreshing, please don't change a thing in your reactions. We all know what is real and what is not. Fantastic song! I'm 62, one of my favorite songs.
Thank you for the kind words 😊💜
Thank you for this one!
Had to watch again. Best reaction ever. Thank you.
I'm Glad you enjoyed it so much! Phil is amazing! 🔥
Saw him with Genisis in Memphis, 1983ish. Great show!! He was on the drums, and had his other drummer as well! I sure hate he is so sick now.
The late, great, Karen Carpenter was more knnown as a wonderful singer. But actually she started out as a drummer and was very good at it. You might check out her drum solo of "Dancing in the Street". She was 18 at the time...
Every time I watch this, this 67 year old man cries. I don't know why. Maybe it's just so effing perfect.
drummer, singer, song writer, movie Scores play drums and sing. a legend
Love your reaction bro ❤️ 👌 please don't stop 😅
Phil said in an interview he just randomly hitting the drums and he belted that out and kept it
YYYYYYAAAAASSSSS PHIL & GENESIS!!
Love it! :D x
Some amazing songs & Artists came out of the 70's & 80's and I'm grateful I got to hear them first time around. As a Brit I am proud of some of the music that was released by British artist, obviously Genesis, Phil, Queen and so many more.
Thank you Pamela and thank you Shane. I have seen many reactions to this and yours is one of the best. Your respect and enthusiasm was great, and thank you so much for not talking over the music. Big thumbs up. I'll definitely be back.
Phil has earned my respect back when the first Tarzan movie came out. His music is incredible and I absolutely love it.
This was among the top 5 reactions to Phil Collins live I've seen to date. And believe me I've watched A LOT of reaction videos! Thanks for sharing your emotions and appreciation for real talent! Much love from NW Louisiana.
Thank you! I love Phil Collins! Love from Texas!
He is amazing! Loved this performance a lot! 🔥💜
Phil collins took over when Peter Gabriel left genesis phil was the drummer he is also a great actor.
Hi there😊. Coming to you from Cape Town. It's nice to see a musician, particularly a drummer, doing a review of this incredible piece.
Phil has an enormous love of the drums of all form.
Your reaction was so genuine, never lose that.
I so love this song and this man. I first heard it on a summer day, coming from the window of a neighbor and was struck right away. I've listened to it so many times and its amazing every time. I've seen some where people didn't know he played the drums. Their excitement just added to the experience. I'm 66 years young and this is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Thanks for doing it again.
Some reactions are special and some are just extra special like yours. It really meant a lot watching you watch this live performance. I'm a 60-year-old man in Middle Missouri and I started tearing for God's sake.
It's just so cool for some reason to watch you experience that from here. And there's lots of great comments about Phil and this great song and performance, but yours is extra special today.❤
Thank you for this comment. Really means a lot to me knowing that we can connect so much through music even though we are worlds apart. That the great thing about the internet 😊
@@ShaneAlanGower It is kind of freaky crazy that I spend too much time on UA-cam and I think I have free subscriptions to other things I should probably cancel. I think I just live on UA-cam. 😵💫
What an incredible reaction !!! Your enthusiasm is so noticeable, it's so cool.
By far the best Phil Collins track ever
I've seen GÉNESIS in person and yes Phil is awesome.
That was fun. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it! I 😊
You have the BEST reaction to this song then anyone I've watched. 😊
Love the acent, and great choice, phil collins is in my time......nice to see him loved by new generations, rock on😊
That is my all time undisputed favorite performance. Aside from the musical and vocal quality, to choreograph this performance is unbelievable. I love it. You seem as moved by this as I am. Well Don lad. Look forward to more of your reactions.
Awesome song... written
Brilliantly... you can Actually Feel It Coming!!
What can you say after that😮❤!!!
Nothing much. Was pure perfection 👌
Nice to see a good looking I telligentyoung man enjoy the music of my time
Phil set the sound for most of the 80's sound with this song, it's a know fact. This song was so good and Miami Vice was the first TV series that really used new songs as they came out and featured it into a big scene and made it even better. Soundtrack sales went up 2500% after Miami Vice.
Well. Must say i was surprised that drum kit rose up to top of stage towards the ending. And that phil was using retractable sticks hidden in his attire. Perfact all the way through. My husband and i were just married when this came out. My dear departed sisterinlaw's favorite song and singer. Ty for the reactiion.
this drumset is sooo good so perfect and just simple. You btw sir got a beautiful soul
This is an incredible performance. His voice is really great. xx
Most people don’t realize that he is left-handed, so the drum set is exactly opposite of a normal arrangement. You don’t see him reaching for his sticks when he gets there. He actually has retractable sticks, so they were with him the whole time!! Look closely @ his hands. Thank you for a great reaction.
drums hit and I feel alive!
Phil is the best!
Best reaction to this live performance Iv ever seen!
Love how you smiled through the whole performance. You appreciate a REAL TALENT!!!
this video reaction is all about seeing Shane and the happiness on his face during the entire song :)
You sure have a deep voice, Shane. You're going to love this video. Your reaction was great!
This was a master class in production and sound the band is smoking you cannot ask for more its perfection 🙂
Phil is a legend. Period. ❤
Big smiles. Thank you for a reaction that made me feel so great on a day where I have been feeling rather down :salute:
I'm glad it could cheer you up, that all I want to do is spread happiness through music 😊
Phil Collins is the best! As I am sure you know playing the drums and singing at the same time is difficult. He is an icon! Love your reaction! ♥
A spectacular concert! Phil is a great artist.
This is my favorite live performance of all time. The way they build the anticipation so that when he hits that drum set it's orgasmic! Great reaction - it's clear you were feeling the power of this performance as well as the song and Phil's voice. This is the first time I saw your channel, and your reaction made me pause and subscribe in the.middle of the song. I'm looking forward to exploring your channel and sharing your journey. 🤠
One does not simply refrain from aggressively air drumming when that solo kicks in
❤❤❤❤this is my most all time favorite music video.... loved your reaction ❤
So so awesome....
Thank you 💜 Phil Collins just blew me away with this performance 🤯😱
@ShaneAlanGower me too... wish I could have been there in person... Amazing!!!!
7:11 me almost wrecking my car pounding on the steering wheel - every time 🥁🥁🥁
Fabulous! As soon as I saw the title, I was excited! Goosebumps here, too. WOW!!! It's been a long time since I've heard this, too. The build-up with this live performance...WONDERFUL! I feel like, "How in the heck could a song this simple, and this short, have such a HUGE impact?!" You know?
THANK YOU, and thanks to Pamela. You have made my night! LOVE IT!!! 😀
No problem, glad you enjoyed it. He really is an amazing artist.
It was something so special. The people who got to see him perform live must have been blown away! 🤯 I was pretty much blown away from the seat of my chair so could only imagine that energy in the crowd! I'm always such a huge fan of live performances :D
At 2:50 the camera pans over Leland Sklar who is one of the most prodigious bass players around. He has a great UA-cam channel where he talks about playing with different artists and how songs came together with them.
Will have to look into him. Love me some bass as well (:
Master at work....Bless Phil
We were at Phil Collins live in SA, and it was OUTSTANDING !!!
I find myself feeling very emotional when I see how Phil is battling with his health now. It also is a reminder of how old I am now. However, we get to share with our grandchildren the outstanding music of our time, and they absolutely love all of it.
That must have been amazing! My dad use to enjoy Phil Collins and Genesis but unfortunately he passed away 19 years ago. Would love to know what he would have been still listening to these days. He loved Queen, led zeppelin and bands like that. I grew up listening to very heavy music and that what I mainly enjoyed for many years but now I've noticed I've missed out on such fantastic music. My mom showed my what Phil looks like now. I couldn't believe it. His health has taken a turn. Just can't believe how everyone that looked so young when I was growing up all starting to look so different these days. But that is life.
@ShaneAlanGower interesting fact. Phil actually damaged, I believe it was 2 vertabra, during that particular tour you reacted to. From the intensity of that performance on drums. It was from that injury that he started having problems. Now, his son is carrying his father's legacy of drumming. If you haven't already done so, you may enjoy seeing him perform.
Queen was another concert we saw at Sun City, around 1981/2. Also, next level talent. I would recommend you watch 'Somebody to love' live in Montreal 1981, if you have not already done so. Anyway, enjoy going down the rabbit hole of my generations music. We were spoiled for choice. If my grandkids play our music, then that is a stamp of approval right there
@@ShaneAlanGower BTW.....Your Dad would be rocking to the same music 🎶 now. I am sure he is somewhere with all the great musicians who have left this world having a blast.
מדהים.מהמם.אהבתי מאוד❤❤❤❤אהבתי את התגובה שלך🤘🤘🤘🤘🫶🫶🫶🫶
