- First ride and review on the Indian Motorcycle FTR1200S.
The Indian FTR 1200 S has a big problem. Unfortunately it's not one that Indian can do much about because the problem is I REALLY WANT ONE!

About Dazzle Rebel Rides:
Dazzle Rebel is a musician and motorcycle fanatic from the UK who specializes in cruisers, customs, retros and naked bikes. He has a love of all things Americana and the juxtaposition of big, American motorcycles in the quaint British countryside.
Description Last updated: 20/10/2019 - Авто та транспорт
Kind of an odd question, but as an American I wonder how well this bike represents it's country of origin? I suppose what I mean is, does it set itself apart from the Italians and Germans and Japanese in a way that speaks to what makes us, us? A bit philosophical I know, but Harley's been the sole ambassador of American motorcycling for far to long. We like to play and get rowdy too!
If Harley is old school Americana the Indian FTR is the rowdy Millennial who spends time mixing road and trail riding whilst dreaming of Baja! 👌 Actually a very good question that. I'll probably use that when I next get chance to do a follow-up video. I'll give it some more thought though. Great question in fact!
Sacrificial Rook it’s a great question. This one bike alone won’t change many minds when it comes to what people think of an American motorcycle. Even in the states on Harley exists.
The FTR is a great jumping off point though, now we have to see what Indian does moving forward. Will Indian continue to step it’s comfort zone or continue to push the envelope and innovate.
Harley represents the worst of America. The government should have shut them down decades ago. And I hate government.
servicarrider Piss off!!
Philosophical?
I road tested this bike and the guy told me to take it out again but just go ride it like it’s yours so I did for about 5 hours, man I was sold I wanted one so bad, I cried , laid on my back kicking and screaming and my wife went out and bought it for me as a Christmas present, I was so surprised and happy, it’s just a fun bike to ride can’t put my finger on it just a blast to ride, too bad winter Is here, I’m still getting out though, I don’t care what anyone says about this bike saying you can get much more for cheaper I love it and can’t wait to change up a few things
Congratulations! That is some Christmas present 👍👍👍
Best part is after 08:30 🤣 Had to watch it 3 times👍
It was even better actually doing it! 😉
Great video!! I was laughing while you were sweating so much!!
My man! Keep em comin Dazzle!!!
Haha. Cheers Mark!
I could never afford one, but one day I'm hoping to have just enough money to snag a Scout 60. At least it's something, right? It was fun to see you having a thrill.
Never say never! I never thought I'd afford an Indian but you never know what's around the corner!
The Scout is an awesome machine in its own right. You wont be disappointed....
Look for this motor in the Scout soon.
Thanks to Harley new Sportster.
Wait for the ricochet
So I just test rode one of these. Your reaction is pretty much my reaction. Now I have to have one. Cool thing is my local dealer has a race replica that he is highly motivated to sell. Very good timing. Thank you for a great video.
Yeah, they after the large number of customer pre-orders were delivered the stock bikes didn't arrive until very late in the season. These bikes have been on the shop floors for most of the winter season now. That said the Race Reps are limited in number so if there's one going, I'd grab it quick!
And this is what happens when any cruiser rider, rides a mid-sport bike, they discover a whole new world of emotions they didn't know were there
I've ridden and owned mid-sport bikes and sport bikes before. I also work in a dealership and get to ride all kinds of bikes. There's just something special about the FTR that makes it an incredibly fun bike to ride.
@@RebelRides thanks! I think that I'll follow your advice and get one ;)
@@RebelRides in your opinion, how does it stack up to the much heavier but similarly powered and geared Harley Rod? I have a Vrod, Nightrod Special that's been making me giggle like a schoolgirl for 11 years. I'm looking at adding an FTR-S to the stable as a lighter weight "flickier" ride. Other options are the Duc 1200, Yammi FZ10. This Indian seems to have my attention.
Its a totally different kind of ride to the HD. I'd say it feels more like a big off road bike with much more top end 🤔
I've has one of these for about 6 months now and the only way I can describe it, is if you can remember the feeling you got when you got your first bike (in my case well back in the last century), that feeling of new found freedom and the thrill you get just wheeling it out if the garage with the anticipation of the next ride. Well it is just like that all over again. Don't get me wrong, it's not perfect, there are some mapping issues, but, overall what a grin!
not being a motorcycle expert but what is mapping and what issues can there be?
On fuel injected bikes they use a fueling map to manage the fuel/air/combustion rather than relying on tuning carburettors. The mapping can be hacked and tuned via 3rd party software to meet your needs.
An FTR with an aftermarket exhaust and a dyno tuned fuel controller would be even more of a thrill to ride fast.
I dare say it would 👍
Knew I shouldn't have watched your video.... now I want one!
Haha. It really does get under your skin this bike!
Great review - your emotions and honesty came right through!
Yeah, totally. Definitely the most I have cussed when testing a new bike on video! Haha
I demo rode this bike and said the same thing, I want one, it’s just a blast to ride I never had so much fun riding a street bike and I have 13 bikes of all kinds
Haha awesome! Thanks for the view.
Yeah, you had a blast haha!
Just a bit! 😂 loved it.
I’ll just add you to the list of loving it. I too had the same reaction.
Haha! I think anyone who rides one has the same reaction 😂
You got to play with it more than I did but yea that bike did the same thing to me lol
I can't wait to get another play!
Hard to tell if you like it or not
😂😂 erm!
I have a Springfield but this video makes me want to open up a FTR!
Haha. It was an awesome experience. It just makes you want to ride like a b@$tard! Haha.
Omg I've never laughed so hard at a review. Best honest review ever. Gonna demo one tomorrow.
Cool! Let me know how you get on 👍
It was impressive. Your review was accurate. And I had the same reaction as you did when riding! My only critique is that it's a bit tall (I'm 5'10"). And I would have to train my thumb to hit the turn signal instead of the joystick. I shouldn't have ridden it either...
Patience is a virtue, but the the hell with that shit brother! great entertaining review as usual. Keep it fun brother.
Thanks!
I'm from the uk test rode one on a Friday deposit down on the Monday. Very inspiring bike to ride.
It's an awesome tool, love mine 🤘
That look like an incredible ride!
It was! Absolutely awesome.
Well well well that was fun to watch 😎👍
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it 👍
Wooooooooo.........
Hahaha. Yeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaa!
I noticed that you blurred the speedo out. No point in leaving an incriminating record......
Must be a glitch on the camera.
Is it fast or is it just fast compared to a cruiser?
It's fast but not superbike fast. It accelerates like a train but apparently runs out of juice around 130mph. Anything up to three figures and I think it would hold its own with a sportsbike no problem. Much better suited to road riding than a supersport.
What is top speed?
As above.
They should have named this bike the “Holy F’ing S#*%” 👍
Hahaha totally! Have you had a chance to ride it yet?
Bought mine last week, standard version, same reaction, come on spring.
Brilliant! Thanks for the view 👍
I had a similar reaction when I rode one. Great bike. I'd like to have one in addition to my Chief, but it's not going to happen for a while.
Same as, I just can't afford one yet 😔
Man it sounds like you had a lot of fun. I’m stilled annoyed that my local dealership didn’t let me ride one because I don’t have experience with rear sets. I understand though, it was there demo, not indian.
What? Surely it should be about how much biking experience you've got not what bike you've got experience riding! Maybe they've been burnt before? Who knows.
Dazzle Яebel Rides one day when I grow up I’ll get to ride it.
It reminds me so much of the Octane but with a tad more power.
It's a different beast to the Octane as far as the way it handles but has some similarities in power delivery. I'd actually like Indian to produce a Sport Scout based on the Octane. 👍
I wish to see these things handle in rock terrain like Honda Africa twin success.
It's a flat tracker, not an adventure bike!
Oh you know your gonna get an FTR. Don’t fight it.
Haha. It's definitely maybe! 😂
Some reviewer in Germany complained about the lack of power on these bikes. He said he was going to buy one until he rode it. Is it really that bad? I suggested to him that something might have been wrong with his test bike, and he chastised me for it.
Lack of power? Nah, anyone who wants more power for road use is a sadist. Of course 120hp isn't H2 240hp levels but who REALLY wants that on the road? If most people are honest about their own ability then not many. Maybe he has an innate motorcycle ability that puts him above mere mortals but for me the 120hp FTR is more fun on real UK roads than a 200hp GSXR1000R (and I have ridden both). On a track it might be a different story. On the German Autobahn it will probably be a different story but I live in a city surrounded by countryside filled with small, pothole scarred roads. I am not afraid to say that I will never ride a modern GSXR1000R to anywhere near it's limits on UK roads but given the chance I'd definitely have a bash at doing that with the FTR. For me it's ludicrously fun with more than enough power to put a massive smile on my face. Horses for courses. I do not have the road racing skills of Michael Dunlop so an FTR is plenty enough fun for me.
The biggest problem I found with the FTR is the #%mn thing it to tall!!! lol. Had the OK from the Warden and all systems were go... Well, except for my legs not letting my feet plant firmly on the ground.
It is tall. I'm only 5'7" and have a 28" inside leg. I found it tall but not too tall to make me uncomfortable. I can get two feet on tiptoes or one foot firmly down.
@@RebelRides that's about where I was with it. I had a CBR when I was younger and it was the same way, tipped toed or one planted and one up. Had it for a few years, stopped at a red light, hit some condensation with my right foot and just about dropped it. Plus about hyper extended my knee, Been a big wuss ever since
lol. I'm at 5'5 so the struggle is real.
If you get this bike your gonna need to take it to the track. If you don’t have access to a track I wouldn’t do it, you will get too many tickets lol!
Totally! If I lived with the desert on my doorstep I'd get it in a heartbeat
Did you get one in the end?
Nope, though I would if I had the cash and didn't need to sell my Chief to buy one.
Man....dat is one small arse gas tank. 3.3 gallons which makes it HD Sportster like. Hate dat.
100 mile fill ups there abouts. Bit more if you're sensible. Sportster 48 is every 80, if you're lucky. A lot of modern bikes have a low range these days, not many modern bikers happy to do over 100 miles without pulling over for a stop.
Absolutely love my ftr s. The fun isn't top end speed, it's in the torque all through the mid.
I know it's intoxicating! I can see me ending up with one, congratulations on owning one 👌
Congratulations SE! I got my FTR S Race Replica 3 weeks ago (already surpassed my 500 mile break in service and currently at 1200 miles all local). I live in the northwest of the U.S. in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. I drive every day on mountainous canyon roads and with my 6’ 1” frame this bike fits me and my riding style like a glove. Where I live is dirtbike heaven and my transition from dirt to this was a no brainer. I really dig watching people ride in different parts of the planet and watching Dazzle ride made my day!
I think you like it...lol.
Only a little! Hahaha. 😂
Sunny Notts
Nunny Sotts!
Bet you never drove a MT-09?
Bet I have and it was an SP version. Also MT-10s, Z900s, Z1000s, GSXS1000s, Katanas, Super Dukes, Buell Lightning, Ducati Monster 1200, Speed Triples, BMW S1000Rs... I work in a motorcycle dealership that sells used bikes so I have ridden my fair share of motorcycles. Each to their own, Super Nakeds are insanely fast but lack spirit, character and fun factor for me.
A bike has to put a huge smile on my face and not just be fast. It's the way the power is delivered and the way it handles that makes a bike fun to ride for me. It needs to be just on the shit your pants side of being in and out of control.
Supernakeds, sports bikes and sport tourers are far too easy to ride fast. Ride an FTR if you get the chance, I don't know anyone who hasn't come back laughing their face off with how much they enjoyed it!
I didn't know Indian makes a left lane - left side drive motorcycle...........? Whew knew?
Very droll! 😂
I want. Loads. But I'd have to win a competition or something.
Same. I'm not selling my Chief Vintage for it but I got other things I need to spend cash on. I'm holding out for that big lotto win!
@@RebelRides do you know any millionaires that want one of my kidneys ??
Me thinks you like it 😂😂😂
Just a little bit! Haha.
So you did not like it 😆😆😆😆😆
It's rubbish! Hahaha.
I’m going to watch the video, but if the, “biggest problem” is that it is too good, or you just have to have one - I’m unsubscribing.
I do hope you were joking.
Knock yourself out!
Dick Whistles I already have one; it’s ‘that’ good! 🤪 good is def subjective but it compliments my riding style, location, my 6’1” frame and my other bikes.
Harley is dead. Long live Indian.
Goes 80 omg lol
It's not the top speed but how it gets there. Ride one and you'll see what I mean, don't mock it until you try it. Dirt bikes aren't fast but they're a riot of fun. This is like a giant dirt bike with 120hp.
@@RebelRides I own two motorcycles.... have ridden dirt bikes since I was 8 ... I know how fun each bike can be.... was just funny to hear omg at 80mph is all... my fz07 hits that in no time
