This game, this community. It was a never ending dream for me once time i had just 13-14 years old and I feel just love for the game and the people. I hope they will make a remake and we can see us all again and feel the same moments and friendships.
GW2 is massive, but my god too limited for me. It was amazing to steal special skills to the ennemy and create his own build. In Guild Wars 2, I get the impression that any warrior is just a “warrior” with almost all the same skills. In GW1, I had the impression that my character was unique.
Due to the popularity (and I recently saw an article that the servers wont close any time soon due to its popularity) I actually really believe that they will make a remake. Just like GTA San Andreas due to its popularity even tho the remake sucked lol
i wish there was a movement, players going back to gw1 and just playing through the game together again. it really is a beautiful game and the atmosphere is great. =plot spoilers, although doubt anyone who would play this again hasnt already played the game= think of the first game, prophecies. 1. a city is destroyed by the charr 2.they seek refuge across the frozen shiverpeaks. that trek across the shiverpeaks is so nice, i will never forget. and the silly missions with the dwarves and ruriks death. 3. then they find haven in kryta, a coastal city and they find some trouble is going down and undead are rising. 4.eventually the hero is made to appear to be the villain and forced into exile at a faraway desert. 5. there, they overcome trials of ghostly champions to regain their honor, earn their right as the hero, and return to defeat the true villain.
sigh...the gooood days.. remember those parties in kamadan, or getting a team together for underworld/fissure, or spending hours pvping in random arenas, or dancing with other low levels outside of beacons perch while the lvl 20 wammo ran us to droks.. good days
my guild has long disbanded; i've given up on trying to recreate the good old days of speed runs, solo farms, and team arenas by reinstalling; i have unfinished titles... but the soundtrack remains. it's now, a full decade after i left the game that i realize how impactful it was on me, and I have jeremy soule to think for keeping a little sliver of it alive. this music is so important.
I feel you 100%. Times will never be the same, but what remains is the memory and the music that* revives the memories every now and then. I will never forget waking up early on weekends to play this game with my friends, not all of us* even had a PC for our own back then. Its been so long.. Hardly anything is as magical nowadays.
Every damn time I listen to this masterpiece the nostalgia hit me. Can spend an hour being lost in my mind. Huge part of my life, incredible game, so glad I played it
This music had me in a trance when I played EOTN. It never was very much fun after a month of playing. It's the music that kept drawing me back. It didn't happen in GW2.
even though Guild Wars 2 will never capture some people's nostalgia quite like the first game did, can at least thank Arena Net for keeping most of this gamea amazing music tracks an re-using them again for world exploration! :D
Overture from Eye of the North, the best intro music in Guild Wars history in my opinion, even beating GW2's soundtrack. Overture from EotN has it all, nostalgia from the first series of games, and the refreshing gaze upon the future in GW2..
I get a little bit emotional....the good times I had with my Guild Wars mates. They made me happy, I made them happy. We were on a continous journey together. Having played the whole game many times, but its the people you went it all through. I am glad to have been a part of a your lifes Robert, Daniel, Vicky, Robi, that guy from Suisse, and everyone I met and loved just spending time with bonding. That´s my GW1 will always be in my heart as one of the happiest times in my life.
the oveture of eye of the north completely encapsulates the nostalgia i have for playing nightfall growing up, i could never afford anything, so i just sat in character creation for hours listening to it over and over, making every type of character in the creator, imaging what it would be like to play a bear
To those I was having a discussion with on here. Sorry the post got deleted! As I removed my G+ account for some reason UA-cam created two. So to the last person who responded, I agreed with your post too! Hopefully someone, someday will create a game that will be reminiscent of GW1 :) Until then I do look forward to playing Everquest Landmark, looks pretty immersive!
I got so fucking nostalgic in GW2 when my human necro reached the Shiverpeaks that I logged out to run around for five hours on my very first GW1 character - my NecroMonk Victoria Ravensoul. They need to add Cantha and Elona to GW2, seriously.
just came by to get the link for a LoL streamer-communety. They asked about a GW track playing and where it is from. Cam to grab the link, stayed because of the music :) Its weird to hear this after 2 years of not playing =( So manny good memories are bonded with this game and tho i was excited about Gw2, it could not quite get me this awesome feeling, Gw 1 did. It was beautifull and challenging on the same time. I will never forget you Gw 1, never ;)
+Müsta Klaki GW2 is gorgeous, I love it! its just different! I started the game with the same skepticism coming from the first one, then gave it a few weeks and now its what I play most. give it time, its of those good things that need time :)
i have never played GW2 but i doubt its shit. It's just not Guild Wars 2. If someone would have called it World of Kryta or smth shit like that I'm sure people would have said it's a good game. It just doesnt share anything with GW1 apart from setting
What if I said...that Arena Net put WAY more into Guild Wars 1 than Guild Wars 2 per release? I mean, ok sure, Guild Wars 2 has lots of content throughout each month even, but this expansion for example felt like an entire game on its own! And man...you can really tell the Soule really digested the compositions and techniques of the greats. After getting more into classical music...I can hear all the best and most interesting parts of Holsts, Vaughn Williams and other such composers. Soule is one of the greatest of his generation. Soule's music takes perhaps a beautiful, intriguing or exciting world and makes it from just a dream into an immersive reality. The music helps tell the story that the game devs don't necessarily describe in full detail. That is, a song like Doomlore Flame gives A LOT of backstory on the emotion and gloom of the Ebon Vanguards foray into the Charr lands which, despite the Flame Legion's tyranny, is exquisitely beautiful. I always got the impression in that region of Tyria that is was almost like you'd imagine North Korea: a land locked in time and you're one of the first to see it freed. I don't know that Soule knew the whole lore of Guild Wars 1 or anything, but his music certainly evoked the surroundings perfectly EVERY TIME. A region's music, in my opinion, should evoke the history and the environment itself if possible...that is...the music should give the rocks emotion and the streams around them expression...the music is PART of the environment not just this supernatural source of sounds that is detached from the forests and mountains you climb through. Another key example is the song Horns of Gunnars Hold. I still remember, being about in 8th or 9th grade or so and my player character was sitting at the Xunlai chest on the hill in Gunnars Hold. It was a pretty nice location to sit and plan builds and so on. Whenever I hear those horns at the very beginning of the song, it always takes me immediately back to those moments. But the crazy thing? In my brain I almost feel like it was ME there looking out on the sun in the horizon. That's how immersive Soule's music is. So, cheers to Jeremy Soule.
Its wierd that i was thinking about this game the other day and how much i miss it. Found this and stuck the Overture on (track 2). This immediately translated into "Sod it, were playing" hopefully it lives up.
this soundtrack... when you realize, the only thing gw1 and gw2 are sharing is, the soundtrack.... gj on the nostalgia line. sadly this wont be not even close to be enough to make fake wars 2 as good as Guild Wars 1 and only

Because unlike you, he doesn't have senseless emotional ties to one of two videogame giants, neither of whom actually places any value on you more than the profit and reputation you bring? There's no point in feeling like you have a moral obligation to one side. They may be competitors, but that doesn't mean you have to join in the conflict. That's not your obligation as a consumer. You take the best that you're willing to afford. Loyalty doesn't factor into it. They're companies, not people.
Um...people are saying WE bash any game that isn't gw2? Guild wars fans are pretty mellow and appreciative of other fanbases opinions. Now mention gw2 on SWTOR forums. I dare you.
jeremy soule is literally a super genius. Not sure I want to pay 100 dollars for the soundtrack even though I feel like it's worth it at the same time.
Yeah and that's the reason why it's hillarious to complain which Soundtrack is better. In what world do we live where people even complain which game has the better soundtrack, they're all great...so just enjoy the music...
Wow soundtrack IS amazing... but thats just imo, gw2 has a lot of fanboys that will defend it to the death and bash any game that tries to compete with it, especially wow.
Amolino, why did u no make timer for each song like in Proph, Factions & Nightfall OST ? :/ That was great ;) Indeed, good job for all the songs ! You won 4 likes.

If they do a remake of GW1 that would be very bad, not because of the game but because of me becoming fully addicted again hahaha
@@PasiDays Definitely haha
Yeeees!!!!
They are gunna make gw3
this nostalgia trip. i want to go back to the first time i played this game.
***** dis comment made me sad :(

think of the first game, prophecies.
1. a city is destroyed by the charr
2.they seek refuge across the frozen shiverpeaks. that trek across the shiverpeaks is so nice, i will never forget. and the silly missions with the dwarves and ruriks death.
3. then they find haven in kryta, a coastal city and they find some trouble is going down and undead are rising.

I'll join. Start scouting :)
2:56....2:56!!! THIS SONG!!!!! O.O
Jacob Erickson That is the best song they've ever made ... I miss the gw1 times....
Me too :/
+Jacob Erickson running away from destroyers. ehh, music made things so epic in GW1.
omg the login screen music
Just open the game and listen to it. It's a shame we can't go back to see the Factions or Nightfall Login-Screen while listening to the themes.
sigh...the gooood days.. remember those parties in kamadan, or getting a team together for underworld/fissure, or spending hours pvping in random arenas, or dancing with other low levels outside of beacons perch while the lvl 20 wammo ran us to droks.. good days

man i miss those drok rushs.... the first few times i got rushed and i remember the first time i rushed other players :D man the nostalgia
I want thous times back.
I actually did professional drok runs daily. Thats how I learnded english lmao.
Doc', I need to take your dolorean to get back to april, 28 2005 !
i remember i use to just sit on my character page staring at the background and listening to the music. It all feels so long gone now =(
+Cammy I miss the good old times too. GW was my first mmorpg and one of the greatest experiences in my life :')
An amazing game I miss so much. Nothing compares to the first playthrough of GW1
I just started replaying the original guild wars and the nostalgia hit me like a wall.
arent the servers down? o:
KinkoKaneko nope :)

My thoughts to a tee, I actually sort of regret them making GW2 as it isolated GW1 (although I am fairly sure GW1 still has a bigger player base)
joe hubbard Guild Wars 1 probably doesn't even have a tenth of the player base that Guild Wars 2 has anymore, sadly.
joe hubbard loged on last night and its almost dead sadly. i miss my dervish....i miss the actual game play that gw2 lacks.
Sad, so ruinously sad, there goes my childhood

Video games which use orchestra and choir in their soundtracks are just automatically better than everything else.
Soule uses (or used for this project at least) a digital sampled library. They aren't live recordings, but still have largely the same sound.
Guild wars 1 and Skyrim have the best in game music that i have ever heard in any game out there. The epicness in these Songs are incompetable
+Its St4xR (St4xR) Try some shadow of the colossus tunes, as well as Ne no kuni. Both have simply fantastic soundtracks.

2:56 soo nostalgic
Omg 😭😭😭
Log in music; shit's about to get real
I swear I heard "through the asura gates" play in gw2 orr once. That piano left me speechless
+Mabel Pines many gw2 tracks are from gw1. Mostly from GWEN and some from Prophecies.
that piano has a very dark soul-ish feel to it. Love it
A lot of this music is reused in GW2. For example, "Kathandrax" is the boss music for the Mai Trin and Snowblind fractal dungeons.

oh fuck yea , remember good old time
A few years ago, one summer, I started from scratch and replayed Prophecies through Eye of the North. Best solo gaming experience I have had to date.
Miss this game at its prime sooo much
Gwen's Theme, Through the Asura Gates, Doomlore Flame are all amazing
End of Guild Wars: Eye of the North: "Congratulations hero! You stopped the rise of the dragon and have defeated evil!"
Guild Wars 2: "Fuck you."
At the End of EOTN, Primordious open his eyes. You knew long before GW2 that you were "fucked". ;-)
World of warcraft has 5 composer, Guild Wars has 1. That only one (Jeremy soule) does it 100 times better than them.

jeremy soule is literally a super genius.
Wow soundtrack IS amazing... but thats just imo, gw2 has a lot of fanboys that will defend it to the death and bash any game that tries to compete with it, especially wow.
... que de souvenirs inoubliables et merveilleux ! Un jeu unique et fantastique ! Le meilleurs qu'il soit peut-ête même dans le monde...
I must have played for 100 hours alone just to get the Legendary Survivor achievement.
Anyone knows where i can find the soundtrack you hear in the hall of monuments?
Amolino, why did u no make timer for each song like in Proph, Factions & Nightfall OST ? :/
That was great ;)
Indeed, good job for all the songs ! You won 4 likes.

Is it really any different for any successful game? GW, Wow, Halo, Cod, SWTOR... the can go on really.
59:30 - I didn't even realize this GW2 PvP theme was a GW1 track until just now.
