Forget the snakes, its the ticks in that tall grass!
Its actually both but you are correct that ticks get more people. In 2017, my wife and 7 others in our community(NE CT) died from tick diseases. Nothing in the news about it. Please keep warning people. I also recommend Permethrin for clothes and gear. I treat every 3 to 4 weeks. Picaridin just doesn't seem to work. Good Luck, Rick
Tics will effect more people then Covid. Yet the government doesn’t recognize lyme as a public health crisis
I think you're funny and I appreciate that. I also appreciate that you don't make the trail look easy. I follow a few different hikers and so many of them make it look so easy to knock out 20 plus mile days, day after day. I know darned well it would not be easy for me, so that's something I appreciate about you!
Aww... can't believe you left us hanging! Can't wait to hear your trail name. Dixie was the first hiker I watched too. Love watching both of you.
It takes a mile or more before a runner gets warmed up just like it takes you 1 1/2 miles before you warm up. If you've ever ran a 5k you'll notice runners warm up 15 minutes before the start. You're doing great!
This is getting crazy ...I find myself looking for your latest episode like it's a favorite soap. Saw this one already ...
Ha, ha, yes! Someone else that eats peppers like apples. I do the exact same thing with tomatoes too! People around me just stare in disbelief...my parents had a garden so that's how I learned to eat fresh veggies...pick, rinse and eat.
You know, some rewards are just worth the extra pain. I’d say good food is one of those rewards. And seeing that tall grass gives me the hibbie-jibbies and just makes me phantom itch. 😂 Keep pushing through Hiker Hays.
ps- Totally going to start playing “Hey Cow!”
lololol That bit with the pepper has me dead!
Beautiful scenery. High grass always check for ticks.. Be safe and stay well.
Was rolling thru wv over the weekend seen bunch of hikers along the road checking out the views.. charles town..pretty!
Kelly, you’re amazing! Your smile at the end of this video was priceless. And your teeth are beautiful!
Best of luck on the marathon, great side trips and adventures - thanks for sharing; the suspense over the trail name is riveting ....
Hey so I just discovered your channel and I am so glad I did! I just love your personality and energy ❤️💕🌸. I love that you have faith, you’re self aware, you seem like such a loving light, you’re grounded and seem centered and like you have joy and peace and it’s so nice to see and get to experience your journey thru hiking with you! It’s so refreshing to see another girl that’s unique and interesting and just yourself! I’m also a Tom boy and I’m quirky, so I love when I find a sister in that! Haha. I’d love to thru hike but can’t due to some health stuff but I get to live vicariously through you haha. God bless you and have fun out there peanut! :).
Content wise, I think this was one of your best videos! Your personality is really starting to shine thru
Never heard of Hey Cow, but gonna try it! Thanks for sharing your adventure!
34 days ain’t no joke. Keep up the Pace
Hey Kelly! Just want to let you know that I am watching you since I can't do the AT, but am doing the Rhiensteig here in Germany and am 34 miles out from being done. Not exactly the mileage you are doing, but tough in all the same. I want to say that I love watching the videos and have been watching you religiously and I appreciate what you are doing! Especially after your surgery! You get it Girl! Will comment again this coming weekend after I get done with my 200 miler. Please stay safe!
My wife and I are enjoying your videos. In 2019 I did a section hike from Four Pines Hostel to the alpaca farm. I had stayed at Bear Garden Hostel as well. I did short days because of heel blisters. I also took several neros and zeroes to treat the issue, so I stayed at a hotel in Bland, Weary Feet Hostel, Woods Hole, and Angel's Rest. It was late October and I spent nearly every night alone, in contrast to this year's Amicalola to Hot Springs, when I spent exactly zero days on trail camping alone. The AT is SLAMMED with hikers more than I have seen in over 30 years of section hikes! God bless you for sharing your journey and your faith! 🙏👍☺
34 days is no joke. Keep going
Can’t wait to hear your trail name!
Yay, Nature (on the pavement)! Lol.
Call this “great attitude day!”
I just saw your picture at the facebook page for Bear Garden, can tell from this vid you are happy, Good. for you.
Looks like a fun day. 9 lives! Love it. Much better than overi girl. Lol
Vloggers vlogging vloggers!! 10:59 What would Grandma Gatewood think?
I have been doing math for the last few days trying to plan my thru hike for next year. I couldn't resist doing yours since you were saying, "Only 1/4 of the way after all that work" So, you have gone 348 miles at that sign. Not counting what you did today> and at 34 days you are averaging 10.242 a day. At this rate you will complete the hike, including the 200 you missed around a week before Christmas. 180 days left. And that is ONLY if you clock in that 10.242 daily without any Zeros. I was sort of shocked for you to see that realization. But if you aren't in any hurry and can still complete it within the year of your start date to be counted as a thru hike by the ATC. If you don't care about what they say you can always come back next summer to complete. Or 15.37 miles per day no zeros and get done mid October. I am going to attempt 4 months to be done but doubt it...that IS my goal though. I just don't want to be so focused on getting it done I miss the journey.
10:02 "We're going to get something to eat. Ooooh cat!"
😂😂😂
6:01 Is a butterfly unable to fly because its wings are wet?
Have a great day !
A Bambi for lunch! I am flabbergasted! 🦌
Love you thx for sharing the trail with us ❤️
Some pretty awesome scenery for sure! Nice video! 🤙
You're not lightning the load just rearranging it, until potty time
Amazing video as always, love following your trip❤ Very fitting with the wink to yesterday's Dixie video (Y all) 😉
Another great video ... Happy trails !
Really enjoyed this video with your humor coming through Hike~On~~> and enjoy the cake :)
Really good update, I think it was fun to see you get filmed by someone else at the time you were recording, and you bagged them. And that fawn wow. Awesome video.🌲👍
Might be my favorite update yet, was dying laughing for most of this update LOL
Dont eat the sticker 🤣
I laughed soooo hard when you blessed UA-cam with the "hey Cow!" game🤣🤣
Respect for your miles!!!
43 on AT kicked my butt at Clingman to Charlie's Bunion
How much does your overall pack weigh all included yes even the peppers
Do tick checks every day theyr'e bad this year...Yall have a good hike and enjoy Virginia..
Hope you pulled the sticker off the pepper before you ate that part. lol
Can I ask what the purple zip up sack is you use for your food? :)
So you save 1LB by sending home the stove, but then pack 8LBs of fresh ingredients. Makes sense. lol
Healthy Food is always worth the weight.
🦙 🦌 🌧 🐮 ⛺️ 🍰 - love your adventures !
Good vid! 🖖
You're so Awesome!
Let me know when you get to Harper's Ferry. Got you'll on a hotel, shuttle for resupply, and a meal. I'm also a Civil War historian, so I can give some free tours of the town or even Antietam or Gettysburg if you wanna zero and explore.
Sounds like distance running, the first mile is always the hardest
The first few minutes in my kayak are sluggish then the paddling gets easier.
Holy cow girl, how much weight have you lost sheesh...take it easy and place yourself...👍🇺🇸
So you just ate a paper with its tag on! Do you often eat vegetables like that?
Do you worry about not cleaning them? I have seen peppers fall on the floor at the grocery store and get put back!! Norovirus is alive and well:(
@@sandra4710 Yes, and I worry about her health, especially she just got recovered from her surgery...
BEAUTIFUL HIKE TODAY. LOVE YOU JOANNA CALIFORNIA
Omg the baby deer 😩❤️ loving following your journey! 😊💪🏻
Not sure where you are but heard NC Forestry may restrict camping on part of the AP due to bear activity. Bear activity has picked up in some areas. Be careful y’all.
I have never seen anyone eat a pepper like that. Lol
ua-cam.com/video/miOLle5M42o/v-deo.html
The original pepper eater lol
Are you n Dixie kin. 😂hmmALOT SIMILARITIES
👍
I was wondering how you were going to eat the bell pepper... if you peeled off the sticker, you could have saved a gram :)
Morning Kelly! Congrats on 25% done!!! All I could think about when you took a bite of the pepper was the opening to the original Iron Chef! Man I am old… You will most likely carry the same or a little more weight with a no cook diet. That has been my experience over the last 2 years of doing it. But you save so much time not cooking and cleaning it is totally worth it. I hope you left an offering for the forest fairies! What a beautiful section of trail today, made better by the greatest band in all the land! Have you listened to any good shows you could share with everyone? Slack pack 26.2 miles and eat a cake? Challenge accepted!! What a fun day. I hope you do keep the trail name, it is very fitting :) Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well.
-Grateful
Kelly you will have to teach the cows leave no trace.
Or at least how to dig a cat hole 😂
👍🇺🇸
The 1/4 GA>ME sign…I thought you were showing us to make us lose The Game. 🤦♂️
Why'd you have to do that to me 😢
@@jorrrrdynnnn I’m so sorry… 😬😭
Turn on your in reach lol
Your just a walking grocery store.Fawn might had been a orphan. Not know to get far from mon. I hope not. Thanks for sharing Kept Pounding 👍🥾🥾 TIGERDUKE 🐅
Actually, fawns are left alone for hours by the mom. Usually the fawn stays curled up and resting while mom is out getting a bite to eat. They have an instinct not to move so this one must have been disturbed. Hopefully mama will return for her baby by evening.
Someone needs to teach the cows about leave no trace! 🐄💩
That baby dear! So defenseless, where was her/his mamma? I wonder
I know you talk to your friends while you are eating😁 Logically speaking, IF we are your friends, THEN you can should talk to us while you are eating😂. Just sayin’.
Hello Kelly.
Great video. Thankxxx for sure.
You are eating fresh healthy food so you talk with your mouth full anytime you want to, ok?
Watch for ticks and hike on. 👣
You cheated. No cake until after you finish the marathon. 😀
