While Thomas was Judge Executive in Lewis County I heard him speak at a meeting I was attending. He spoke about some of the things he had done to save money for Lewis County. I was so impressed with his common sense approach. I thought to myself --"this is the kind of person we need in government--an intelligent man, but also a man with "common sense." When he decided to run for the Congressional seat being vacated by Jeff Davis I knew exactly who I would vote for! The problem is that we need a LOT MORE people in our Congress who think like Thomas so we can get that Deficit under control.

I asked him this year during the DeSantis campaign if he would ever run for VP or President. He said no (emphatically). That he has no desire, that he's not even sure if he wants to run for Congress again in the next election. He said he has been holding on for the good of the country, but that he doesn't know how much of an impact he can really make if Trump or Biden are President again.
I told him that America desperately needs him as President. He thanked me for believing he would be great, but again expressed he had NO interest. Unfortunately. 😫

When I first started this clip, I only saw his house as in its market value. Then, we are told how he built it himself from raw materials off his wife's family ranch. I stopped this vid while inside his home to see details of his work. He laid his brick randomly, yet as a whole, are uniform. His framing, dog leg supports, everything is amazing and he used wood pegs to frame it all up with. He has a pond on a hill far above his house that gravity feeds for all the ranch/farms needs and is perpetually refilled by nature. Nothing wasted, not even the rotten tomatoes. And thats just the beginning of this man's story.

Talk about a renaissance man. Massie is a man of a different time. Many will look at this and say: "That is what I would love to do". But building a house is hard work. Crafting your own blocks of hewn stone, sawing your own boards, that is very hard work. Few today want to do that.
My maternal grandfather and grandmother built their own small house in the mid1930s from material on their land, but it was a small log cabin (no sawn boards), and the stones that made the porch were not hewn. Some of their friends built their own homes as well during that time.

Michael, I just peeked at your youtube channel.. looks like you and I have a very similar setup! Yours is very nice!!! And it was nice of you to document the solar mounts on youtube. I also have Outback charge controllers and inverters, 13kW of panels. When we expanded to 13kW, that finally was the death blow to our 10 year old lead acid batteries. I charged them too fast and the got too hot. They were on their last legs anyway. Just letting you know it's an issue with a system of the size you and I have chosen with lead-acid batteries. I have since switched to a Tesla Model S battery and it can run two, 2 ton geothermal units all night. Here's the first in a series of 4 videos I made about it...

I'm so honored to receive a reply from you. I watched all four of the videos and I am amazed at your knowledge and work ethic. I have had several careers in my life with the last one being an IT specialist for our local school district but I don't think I'm prepared for the challenge of adapting a Tesla car battery to my off grid system. I am already 68 years old and a little tired of challenges and ready to relax a little. Besides, half of my FLA battery bank is brand new so I think I'm just going to replace the other half that was used when I purchased it almost 3 years ago now. I have already had 2 cells die in this bank. This will be another $8000 purchase but will put me back up to 3000 amp hours of new batteries. Since you talk KWH most often, I believe this is 144 KWH but of course since we really do not want to drop below 50% state of charge, this is more like 72 KWH. This will get us about 3 days in winter but only a little over one day in summer. Hopefully if I'm still around in 10 years, lithium ion or some other new battery technology will be cheaper and work much better. Thanks for all you do for our country.

Hope you become our new Speaker. 🙏🙌 Love all that you stand for and are wanting for our country.
We live in Idaho. We used to live in Elk City, ID and lived like you are living off your land. Loved it! Our kids started having children, so we moved back to the Boise area. We definitely Miss EC, but love taking care of our grand babies and I started a school. I have 4 students and I’m getting inundated with more that want me to teach their kiddos. Trying to figure out what and how to go about it. Properties are so excpensive. I’ve taught for many years , but the last 5 years in EC it was basically a one room schoolhouse. (12 students K-8 ) Loved it!! It’s a great set up and may do that here with half day academics and half day agriculture teaching. Praying and trying to figure it all out.
Thank you for all you are doing. I thought I saw that your wife passed away recently. I am so sorry. Praying for you and all of your family. ❤
    God bless America! 🇺🇸🙌

So I heard about this guy because of his move on the Covid-19 stimulus package. As a fellow engineer I decided to go understand the assumed problem before I conclude on what the root cause is. So I wanted to get to know him a bit more before passing judgement. And after watching this quite frankly, I like the guy. Ironically, he’s living the most liberal (Oregonian type) lifestyle in Kentucky, with all the environmental considerations in his lifestyle, opposite of his republican cronies. But what this is proving to me is that this guy has a working brain and makes decisions like an engineer, benefit to society, unlike his colleagues. However, I’d like to see his positions on other issues that affect groups that are not in his constituents. But for now, from one engineer to another, carry on sir, carry on.

Humans are not separate from Nature. We are Nature. Nature is more expressive and strong with human beings when we live symbiotically with the land. The cancer that has plagued human civilization for thousands of years is coming to an end. We are experiencing an archaic revival on this planet, and are returning to where we once had it right. But this time we have even more beneficial technologies to ensure peace and prosperity for all. And onward to the stars we go ✨. Thank you Thomas. You have inspired me more than you’ll ever know. 🙏🏻

May it serve as a model for anyone else who desires total self-sufficiency with only a little help from family, neighbors, with tons of elbow grease mixed with technology. Nice! You must be often approached with interested students/families whose goals are to have a similar life. Certainly, you could start a movement for the States to reserve areas of land that can be configured to be off the grid so more folks can learn and pass on that type of independence and freedom.
