I Ran a 5K Everyday For 30 Days, here's what happened!

- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- I documented the difficulties and challenges that I faced when taking up running everyday for 30 days and making it part of my routine, I also tried to show how rewarding it has been and how much of a positive impact it can have.
The unfortunate incident happened due to one of my Saturday rugby matches!
As a beginner I chose to run 3 miles or 5 kilometres (km) per day as the brief research I did said this is a good place to start if you feel like you are able to do so. Try the challenge for yourself!
Hope you enjoy the video as much as I have enjoyed putting it together, I always appreciate any feedback. Subscribe for more videos coming soon!
A BIG thanks to @LauraTryUK for inspiring me to attempt this challenge!
Hope you guys enjoyed my new video! I’m really happy with the progress that had been made, has anyone done this before? So annoyed that a music track that I used turned out to be copyrighted even though it said that it wasn’t 🙁
Great video man! Keep it up, hope the recovery is going well.
@@socrateletubby3609 thanks so much!!!!
havent watched the full video, but you should deffinitly work your way up to this. Definitly dont try to first try 5ks lol
shoot I finished watching and Im so sorry.... Hopefully part two goes better and I hope you recover well! Maybe slowly work up to 5ks for a month or so before trying this again because as you've found out the hard way, it can be dangerous. Hoping for a speedy recovery!
@@TomSMorley 30 days proper macros next?
Its amazing progress. I did the same but 10K everyday for month - saw a similar reduction to yourself improving from 60 minutes to a 48 minutes PB. Wish you a speedy recovery
FAIR PLAY mate! Thats bloody impressive 💪🏻
Do you run 10k all at once or split into morning and evening runs (5k each)?
Do you guys run 10k continuously or like run walk run walk?
Nice humblebrag.
U say this like it’s hard. See I can humblebrag too
33 minute 5K is literally a dream for me at the moment ! 😂
Well done mate, speedy recovery.
It was to me a couple of years back (at the start of my fitness journey). couldn't even run 500m without stopping! Thanks mate
How are you doing now? Just asking to see how much you have improved!
Well done mate takes a lot but hopefully you will be back even stronger
Really appreciate this! I’ll be coming back as strong as I can 🙏🏻
You're gonna be a beast when you recover. Looking forward to part 2 man you're inspiring!
Thanks so so much! Yeah part 2 is going to be really cool. I cannot wait. Really appreciate that!
You absolutely CANNOT skip rest day when running. A hard lesson I have learned when I first started.
Wish I had this comment before hand haha
You can run every day, just gotta run slower. Most runners do around 80% of their miles "easy" and 20% hard. You'd get faster (and feel better) running 5 times easy and 2 times hard a week
@@gregoryf3771 bruh only top world class runners are doing 7 days a week and even then most do a 10-13 day stretch with at least a single day off. In no world should he be just running 7 days a week from nothing, If he wants to get to that level he needs to start out slow and respect the process to get there.
@@gregoryf3771- this can only be done after putting in 200-300 miles WITH REST over 3-5 months. Most people cannot run at an easy pace for even 1000 meters without rest. And even then you should be resting.
So sorry for what happened. However I am really proud of you!!! My jaw dropped when I saw how you made progress from a 33:00 min 5k to a 28 min 5k. So pround man. You are very inspirational and you should definitely keep it up. I believe you’ll be an outstanding runner after you recover, coming back even stronger. Much love and best of wishes to you! Oh and I’ll also follow you on strava to give you kudos on your future runs! Hope you’ll be active!
Ayy thanks so so much 🙏🏻🙏🏻 the progress I made shocked me too! I was so happy with it. I’m coming back at this with even more motivation after experiencing life without being able to walk. I cannot wait. Thanks again mate!!
@@TomSMorley Did you mention how the legg broke? Was it due to overtraining? I think runnig everyday is good but you should keep the intensity low for the majority of the time and only run fast when you have extra energy, like every 5 day to begin with.
@@toroddlnning6806 it was the rugby that snapped my leg. The running could have definitely weakened things tho
@@TomSMorley Ok, nice experiment anyways. I dont think running 5k everyday for 30days weakens the bone too much tbh. Maybe for someone much heavier
Rest more….one day should be rest & stretch…great vid
“Don't let the setbacks of life hold you back. Let them propel you forward to greatness.” i'm on run streak day 888. You can do it mate!
Thanks mate! That run streak is impressive!!!
Hope you are back to it as soon as you can!
Cheers Joe!
It seems like you’ve discovered some things about yourself through this personal challenge, kudos to you! While you have some downtime do some research and develop a plan that will challenge you both mentally and physically but will decrease the strain the increased miles will put on your body. You’re an inspiration, I wish you well!
Best of luck with the recovery! You'll be back in no time.
Edit: I started running regularly about 3/4 years ago and it's changed my life. Just enjoy the journey
Ayyy cheers Mohammed! I really hope so 💪🏻
Oh Mate so gutted for you. You absolutely smashed it with your progress. Nothing sucks more than an injury. You will gain resilience and will be mentally stronger after this. We are all gunning for you. Wish you a speedy recovery and can't wait to see you finish this challenge in the future.
Cheers Chris! Can’t wait to get back going with things. Was so happy with the progress, both with my times and how much better I was feeling generally. When I do this challenge again, it will be awesome!
@@TomSMorley I must have missed it but how in hell did you break a leg?
@@goku445 happened in a rugby match. Shin snapped in half when someone landed one it while I was still driving forward.
@@TomSMorley Wow sorry for that. Sounded like it was a really big hit. Probably unrelated to fatigue from running that usually happens on smaller bones.
I wish you a quick recovery and what you gained before that unfortunate evenement is not lost!
Tough days dont last, tough people do. Amazing progress, go again when you've recovered 🤜🤛
Thanks so much! 5.5 weeks post op now and finally starting to see a way out of this mess haha
@Tom Morley good shit man 👍 Hope you've a speedy recovery. I've a fitness test next week for prison service and I watched your video for some motivation, I'll definitely be giving this a go myself. Good luck man
Respect mate you should be proud of yourself this injury will only make you tougher in the long run
Thanks Chris!!! I really hope so mate!
Congrats on the progres! For someone who just starts running it can be discouraging to not see immediate results, or even in your case a bit of regression during week 1. The fact that you continued and saw some big improvements the following two weeks shows your hard work. Best of luck on your recovery.
Cheers Dan!! Yeah that first week was the worst, seeing constant slower times with the pain increasing. Thinking back now, there has got to be a much easier and faster way to see similar results, in a way that doesn't lead to shin splints and/or the regression. Now is the time for me to research, while I'm healing, and hit it next time, with a bank of knowledge that, before, I brushed over. Really appreciate this comment!
Brother, hang in there. I ran well in high school for someone who didnt train consistently at all. My best was an 18:55 for 5k and a 5:07 for my one mile. I was 18 then. Fast forward 9 years later and I am a cross country coach and teacher who got sick of being out of shape and started running again. Last fall I was running 35 miles a week and was started to do some speed and thresh-hold work outs, but I got injured. I had a series of injuries that put me out of serious and consistent running for about 4 months. It's been frustrating, and I even thought that I would never run like that again. However, I about to run my second week in a row at 10 miles for the week. Hang in there, take recovery serious! Do what you need to do to get well and do not give up, my friend.
Thanks so much for commenting! You ran some AMAZING TIMES I can only dream of haha! Hope I can recover soon 💪🏻🙏🏻
@@TomSMorley you could do it! Get better soon and take care of that leg! Consistency is key! Cheers!
Try and not let this set back hold you down, you’ll come back stronger than ever! The 5 minute improvement is extremely impressive, i know you can do it again :D
Thankyou! I will try my best
Dude! Keep. It. Up. This was so much fun to watch and you put a lot of thought into your editing. Without it being to much or taking away the flow.
Your challenge went awesome. Your injury flanked you. For sure. And if you keep measuring with something that is impossible to do right now: you’ll stay gutted.
But that’s not who you are. You’ve shown that already. Fuck the 5km challenge. The journey you just started is an even bigger challenge. Let’s blow that one out of the water. The 5km will be the cherry on top when you beat this injury.
The way you handle this one will depict the outcome of this life changing challenge. And we’ll be here to watch.
Subbed! Let’s go my man!
I thought I had replied to this comment! apologies!!! i Really appreciate this comment and appreciate you noticing the effort that went into making this video. I cant wait to get back to it!!

Dude. I've been there. Literally. I'm more fit now after my break that I was before. This is an opportunity to become a man of steel now. Happy recovery
Thank you Simon, it’s great to hear how you were able to go further than where u were before, the last few months have felt very slow and I’m looking forward to getting back to normal!
@TomSMorley if you don't have ligaments torn... or very little soft tissue Damage. You can do a full recovery and then some... This is a blessing in a ghillie suit.

Take it easy man! You will be back before you know it! Slow and steady wins the race
cheers mate!! Its so hard not to try and rush this recovery but I know that just will slow down my overall progress so I am making sure to do it properly!
You will recover! My brother broke his ankle a couple of years ago and this year ran his first marathon. Take it slowly, rest, recover and repair.
Thanks for sharing that mate! amazing to hear it!
Don't worry mate, you'll get where want too, all the best and get well soon
Thankyou mate!

I’m sorry dude, I went to play my first roller derby game last year and broke my ankle 5 minutes in. It’s horrible. Genuinely the toughest thing I’ve ever gone through in my life. I was starting to get my fitness back and then it all got taken away in an instant. It’s rough. I remember breaking down coming home from hospital because I couldn’t even climb the step to get into my house. It sucks having to let yourself heal, get back to walking, doing physio just to get back where you were and it took me a good 10 months to get there. Just take it easy and be kind to yourself. You were doing absolutely amazing before your injury, I can see you have that athlete mindset and you’ll be back in no time.
Agreed, Injury is horrible! especially like you said, when your in he middle of making progress. I cried a lot in that first week! I am so motivated to get back into it. first proper physio session next week. so excited to start getting leg back!
Subscribed 20 seconds in this video. This is the type of content I love, and you deserve the attention for such a great achievement! Being a runner myself (i ran a half-marathon about a month ago), I heavily promote this kind of thing and appreciate it so much when people go out of their way to do any form of exercise.
Also, that injury looks brutal. Everybody hates to have an accident when they’re going for something new, and one as bad as yours would honestly crush the mindset of many. I know I’d be absolutely crushed if that happened to me.
Thanks for subbing! I love making this content so there will be a lot more of it! The injury definitely isn't ideal at all, especially with Sumer coming up but I am absolutely motivated to get back into things. However long it takes haha. Thankyou for commenting mate. Congrats on the half marathon!!!! MENTAL
Watched this and was really impressed with the editing quality as much as anything else. Couldn't believe it when I saw a sub count under 1k, I would have guessed 50x that. Here's +1 for you. Good luck with the channel. Keep it up!
Thanks Stephen! I work hard on these vids and you noticing it means so much! Hopefully more people can see my other content too. Really enjoyed making this video and its really helped my channel! 50x what I have now is literally a life dream of mine. I hope it happens one day. Thankyou for adding one more, I won't ever forget it.
Tom you look better. It's a great effort. Try again when you heal. You're young, only a hipcup in your journey.
Thanks so so much Sharon! despite the outcome I got a real buzz off of seeing the progress I had made. Cannot wait to attack it next time, in a more strategic way I think.
i exactly know what it feels like , its my whole life story woking hard and getting draged back again by the injuries, my whole life has been draged back because of the injuries, dont give up try again after u recover

wow really appreciate that! Hopefully I can grow more this year as I love doing it. Part 2 will be bigger and better 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Sorry to hear about the injury. But atleast you proved your own mind you can do this. Once you are healed nothing stops you from getting back right at it, perhaps with a bit better schedule to help with injuries, but you overcame the biggest challenge allready, your own mind.
Really appreciate this! The mind is the most powerful thing anyone has! Yet a lot of the time doesn’t tell you what is best 💪🏻
Solid work mate, it’s a setback, not a finish. You’ll do it.
Thanks Connor! Really appreciate this comment. Keeps me motivated 💪🏻🙏🏻
What a bummer! Good luck dude
Ikr, typical haha. Cheers Alex
Awwww. I am sorry. You made impressive progress, though. I do think it is best to allow time to recuperate and heal in the beginning, but you pushed through it. Look forward to part 2
Yeah was so happy with the progress so far. part 2 is going to be heavily thought out. Not just an unfit rugby player running 5km daily haha
Hope you have a speedy recovery, and you'll break your old PB in no time
Cheers mate! Im going to give it my best shot
Mate that was absolutely incredible to watch. The level of determination to get through despite the pain and to do a part two is unreal. You should be mega impressed with your improvements. Trust me you always come back stronger. Top work lad!!!💪💪💪 (new subscriber)
Really appreciate that bro!! and thanks for subscribing! Part 2 will be done as soon as my leg is up for it as I cannot wait to get back running! going to be maaaddddddd
Hey Tom, randomly came across this video & love to see you getting after it mate.
A few times a year I set myself the challenge to run 100km in the month. I usually break it down to 25km per week, 5 days of running & 2 rest days in any order… The body really does need some recovery time unless you’re fully conditioned for it & life loves to get in the way of plans so those 2 days withers let’s me rest when I need it or holds me accountable when I’m looking for excuses.
Heal up & give it another crack, keen to see the results - especially mentally!🙌
Thanks SO much for this advice. I think it may be the best way to re approach this challenge when my leg is up to it! It will make it more sustainable for me! was feeling so much better seeing the results I had already managed but would have loved to find out how much better id be feeling after a much longer period. Cheers WAZZEH!!!!!
I just knew that it would end this way when i saw the first 2 minutes... From almost no cardio to running 5K every day is just too much for your body. But it doesn't take the pain of the injury away... Stay strong!
The reason I went straight to a 5km is because I knew that it was the distance that I could run with me having the fitness from playing rugby three time per week. Although, thinking about it, probably should have played it a bit more towards the safer side of things. rugby in terms of cardio is HARD! I'm unfit because I had 4 years out before I came back to the sport. Luckily the pain hasn't been too bad, it was just the surgery pain for the first 4 weeks. I'm Into week 5 now and most pain is gone. Physio next week, cannot wait!! Thanks so much for the comment!
@@TomSMorley of course, a lot of people would go for 5K. And it's completely fine, but for everyday it is hardddd... I have an injury for like 10 months know so i have learned how it is to gradualy build up. But anyway, hope you can sport and continue the journey as fast as possible!!!
@@WDH001. 🙏🏻🙏🏻💪🏻
@@WDH001. Ok but...the injury he sustained was traumatic, not overuse. I fail to see how this unfortunate turn of events is because of him running too much. Humans evolved to run ya know. We can handle 30 mins of jogging every day.

looking forward to making it! Will be a long recovery but I'm ready to get back running the minute my physio allows me to!

Heart break, you did well king. I'll incorporate rest days on your behalf.
Okay, first off, I like your channel, your attitude and your overall outlook on life--at least from what I've gleaned from your videos. Very cool stuff. And two, extremely impressive progress in your 5K time. Five minutes is awesome, and you really showed grit and heart in sticking with it. That kind of discipline is going to take you far in life. And obviously, I'm sorry about the injury. I know how absolutely heart breaking that can be. I hope you get better soon, Dude.
But there may be better ways to achieve the goals you want--Better cardio vascular endurance, leaner physique while maintaining muscle mass, and a faster 5k time. If you were doing it just for the sake of doing a 5k every day for a month, then go on right ahead, and more power to you. But if you truly want the goals mentioned above, then you may want to be a bit more strategic in your approach. There's hundreds of ways to do this, but here's a simple template:
Run three days a week. A non-running day in between running days is important for recovery, especially since you don't run that much. A runner is only supposed to increase their volume by 10 to 15 percent each week. And you went from zero kilometers to 35 kilometers in seven days. This is extremely rough on the body, and why you were having such a hard time in the beginning. Just like in lifting, there must be recovery days between sessions. Oh, and continue to lift while running. I often do three lifting days a week, and three running days a week. Eventually, you can increase the running days.
Vary your runs.
For example: Monday do 800 meter repeats. Which is running 800 meters multiple times--like 4x 800 meters, and done at a faster pace than your 5k time, resting for four to five minutes between each run. This teaches the body to move faster.
Wednesday Do hill sprints. Find a forty to sixty meter hill, and run that six to eight times. This builds strength and mental toughness.
Friday is the the long slow run. It should be nice and easy, and you should be able to carry on a conversation the entire time your running. Get some good music, or listen to an audiobook or podcast, and enjoy a nice jog around the neighborhood.
Start slow, build gradually
So for the first week: Monday should be one to two 800 meter runs. Wednesday Should be one to two hill sprints. And Friday should be a 1 k or a 2k.
The second week, you add one set for each. Or 1k to the long slow run. And continue to add on each week after that. The first and second weeks should be easy, but it's important to create a foundation to build off instead of just jumping into the fire and running 35 kilometers in a week, because honestly, that completely wasted a week of training, hence the regression you saw.
If you start easy and slow, you can build upon your times and your distances, so you would be seeing improvement with each workout, and that does wonders for you psychologically.
There's a quote in my favorite book, "The Power of One," and a young boxer learns, "Fight first with the head, and then fight with the heart."
Train smarter first, then train harder.
I know this is probably totally unsolicited, maybe even unwelcome, advice, and I apologize if that's the case, but I saw this and just had to say something.
Good luck, Bro.
That’s incredible advice! Thankyou so much. I’ve put this in my word doc for when the time comes to give it a go again. It just makes so much sense so I really appreciate that!! Dropped 4 kg since surgery, even with the extra 3kg of metal in my leg. Can’t wait to get back into it. Thanks so much for this comment. Advice is always welcome mate! Thanks for posting this. I feel motivated. Ive just completed a 30 day HIIT challenge but need to get back into running...after seeing this, I'm seriously considering doing your challenge through June. Wishing you a speedy recovery (no pun intended!)
Cheers Lisa!! And well in for smashing that 30 day HIIT, they are so bloody hard😂 I would definitely recommend giving this challenge a go, I would only say though, I've read the comments here and have done some research and there's no need push 100% like I did here, which lead to unnecessary pain and may have increased my chance of that rugby injury. Next time I try something like this I am going to set one day where I push to the absolute max and the other 6 days, run with no intent of setting any record Times, taking 5- 10 mins longer than my fastest. It will not only make it more enjoyable for me but will also allow me to recover a lot faster. Thanks for commenting!

a few tips for to staying consistent are inhaling breathing through your nose when run, you can build this habit and improve sleep/recovery by taping your mouth shut while you sleep (eliminates sleep apnea improves cardiovascular health and recovery). You can try running fasted and doing one meal a day or intermittent fasting, stop eating about 3 hours before bed to increase sleep/recovery. To build back leg strength do tibialis raises and calf raises as well as hamstring curls. Improve ankle mobility by doing ankle rotations. Huge inspiration man don't be discouraged set backs are bound to happen, through this setback you are giving the opportunity to make your mental and physical weaknesses your strengths ! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK ! cant wait to see part two.

Tom that’s a serious injury. Stay true to the rehab and keep your leg elevated above your heart to reduce swelling. Mine healed so much faster because I listened to the ortho tell me that info. Take a deep dresser drawer and flip it upside down, slide under your mattress, foot end. Then place a pillow under your knee and leg. Elevated with less side to side. Sleep this way too. Ice is your friend to reduce swelling. Don’t be a hero, LISTEN to dr. cuz this injury is with you for life. Let it heal.

Hey matey, well done on your progress and determination, you really did amazing in such little time.
Sorry about your injury!
For the future would say you probably went to fast to quick to often though.
Day 1 do your all out effort as a bench mark, so you can compare it to an all out effort on day 30.
But in between I would be running much easier - if you go all out every day you will just wreck your body, increase injury risk, and see little base cardiovascular benefit at that intensity.
Additionally by going all out every day you're not allowing your body to recovery fully either.
Look up 80/20 training / low heart rate zone training :)
For context: My 5k PB is 21:01 - but my training runs are often 5:30-6:00 pace, recovery runs even slower, 7-8min per KM
keep it up fella
Thanks Jordan! I really need to work in a plan for next time I start running, aimlessly running a 5k daily will not get me to where I want to be at all. Thankyou for this advice!
I used to do upwards of about 100km a week as well as 1 day football training and 2 match days. I unfortunately suffered a heart problem at the age of 20 and had to cut out all exercise. I have built myself up slowly over time and I’m now back playing sports and running at the age of 27. Not as intensely as I did before but I feel so much better! I aim for 5-10km a day but this is more walking than running! I hope you make a speedy recovery and you’re back to your best soon
Thankyou mate! That’s so impressive, maybe also give the assault bike some attention, just a different breed of fitness with it being full full full body endurance, while allowing you to slow down with the legs or arms at any time . It was my best friend when I was a rugby player 😂 really glad to hear you came out the other side of it, make sure your doing what makes you the happiest.
Geez, nice progress & super unfortunate injury :(
Hope you continue to your running journey!
Thanks so much! Should be back running within the next Month💪🏻
Well done! 5km is a good distance imho if you want to do it each day without running that much before.
The video took a rough turn. Hope you get better soon
Yeah only running I'd done before is on the pitch so I was so happy where id got to in just over 3 weeks. Thanks so much!
Wishing you a speedy recovery bro 💪🏻
Thanks so much John!!!
Great video! Deffo try it again have a speedy recovery
Thanks so much! I will be attacking this challenge again as soon as my leg allows haha!
@@TomSMorley you’ll smash it. I’ll definitely tune in when you do
how does this man only have less thasn 1k subs
he deserves way more
Thanks so so much! I hope this channel continues to grow! I love making videos so im glad this one found more people!
Very cool video man. Looking forward to part 2.
AYYYY cheers man! part 2 I want to make even better!
Stretch, and I mean Stretch A LOT! After getting into a motorcycle crash myself I understand where you are, especially mentally. You WILL bounce back just know that time is everything, your young so you got plenty of it. I put myself through therapy a few months after my crash and its still tough on me. But I can run 10k again after a LONG uphill battle. Just know that be smart and listen to your body needs and push yourself from time to time. I tell people the days you dont feel like doing something, sometimes end up being the best training day you've had in a while.
Really appreciate this advice mate! With it being my first big injury I’m pretty new to recovery on this scale. I have managed to get myself walking, driving and cycling again, but in terms of strength…a LONG way to go haha
Amazing video and i'm sorry for your injury, it sucks a lot. but i gotta say that because i live in a different climate it was funny to me that you didn't run because of that little bit of snow, thought i respect your decision. I live in finland and i run around the year so i need to run on snow and ice four months during the winter and beginning of spring😅
Thanks so so much! It must have been very comical to see me avoiding 1 inch of snow haha! Gyms must be even more popular there with those climates🤔
@@TomSMorley well yea gyms are popular but most runners have just adapted to the climate and run outside unless the weather is really bad😊
Well Done Lad. Motivating myself to get back out running !
thanks so much mate, don't get me wrong, at times I hated the running, however the feeling after seeing the results and after the exercise is incredible. makes it so so worthit!
Thanks for the inspiration. I'm healing from a ruptured Achilles tendon 3 months ago and looking forward to running again, but 1 step at a time....
Thanks for the comment Tony! A ruptured Achilles though…WOAH! Must be so painful mate. We can do this 💪🏻🙏🏻
Good for you bro, well done! It takes great discipline to do it every day no matter how you feel
Hopefully you can recover fairly fast and you keep your head up, I'd recommend a challenge like a 10k or half marathon. Sometimes at the longer distances you can run slower and its a different type of challenge
Yeah I hope so too, things are going well so far I am glad to say so I hope that they continue to! I will definitely be changing how I attack something like this next time as this, for me, was too much of a contrast with me not having done any dedicated running before.
Inspirational stuff. Really want to try this in the future
Cheers Victor! It was a great challenge, there are just better ways to do it I think, I am going to do some more research before I give it another shot!
Speedy recovery! Godspeed mate!
Thankyou mate!!
I did this years ago while being in quite good shape. Got plantar fasciitis and it took me 6 months and much rest to get rid off it, so be careful. Right now I am starting to walk without crutches after rupturing my achilles tendon twice. Hope you are not in too much pain.
oh damnnn, Yeah recovery is horrible but I want to make sure I do it as slow as I need to. That further injury must have been devastating and the Achilles! LETS DO THIS!!!! , My pain has luckily been quite manageable but I must stay focused and listen to what the pros say. Just about got myself walking again💪Thanks of this comment, Its on to remember mate! We got this.
Stay strong ! You had me motivated, starting tonight.
Ayyyy thanks so much! 💪🏻
U will comeback stronger! Have a fast recovery
Thankyou mate! Really means the world!🙏🏻
@@TomSMorley actually watched a couple of your videos, u are going places. Don’t let this little set back discourage you ♥️
@@NMat2 I do work hard on them. A comment like that makes it so worth it. Cheers man 🙏🏻💪🏻
Stick at it. Injuries are part of the journey 💪
Cheers Jason! Great way of putting it 💪🏻💪🏻
Really great video. So good to mention how the scales don't tell you everything a lot of people can get caught up on the scales but they might be heavier due to muscle but can feel better and look better.
Yeah I totally agree mate! I've always been so obsessed with the number on the scales, not the actual visual differences. Important to value your physical differences!
You are the best. Keep going, mate!
Cheers mate! I will keep pushing!
Ah no way! I was gutted when I saw your injury. I’m sure you will be back and I look forward to part 2
Yeah was so annoyed! Didn't hurt when it snapped but can just remember being to annoyed about how long I knew the recovery would be. I cannot wait to start running again!
Im 51, started running 2 years ago after my bike was stolen. My advice, go run. Doesn't matter your distance or speed. Youll dial that in as you go. Just get up and go.
I started small, now about 15-30k a week depending on my schedule.
I feel strong. Running has strengthened my physical and mental health. Once again...just go, its worth it.
I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery champ, you got this! Great video!
Thanks so much!!! really appreciate this comment mate 💪
Amazing work , hope the injury is healing well
thankyou James! its being very stubborn but I'm slowly seeing progress
@@TomSMorley good stuff
Hi Tom, randomly had your video come across my feed. I really felt your pain on having a promising training cycle derailed by injury, it’s so frustrating and discouraging. Actually, this happened to me when I first started “running seriously”. I overdid it and got a stress fracture in my foot, and decided to give it a second go once I recovered. Here I am 10 years later having run 1000s of kilometers, a marathon, and made some of my best friends in life through running. I didn’t plan on any of that at the time though. Not saying that you have to copy that, since everyone has their own journey to take with running, but more that I want to really encourage you to give it a second try, it seems like you were really enjoying it despite the hard work and it can really change your life in ways you might not expect! Get well soon 🙏
Amazing to hear how positive it worked out! when it happened and to this day I am gutted. 4 weeks since my surgery today and i'm back walking without crutches. could have been a lot worse. The fact that my brake was a complete snap of both bones has almost worked out for the better with me having to have a titanium rod put through my tibia, decreasing my recovery time. Looking forward to get back running and to hopefully get back on a rugby pitch, or maybe I'll decide to take up golf instead haha. thank you for this comment Josh! I know I'm a small channel but this comment means everything!
@@TomSMorley That’s great to hear there are some silver linings! It will still be tough, but there’s definitely hope, 4 weeks after and no crutches is very encouraging! Looking forward to seeing what you decide to try next.
@@joshuaforrest5973 🙏💪
Top stuff mate, dont let the injury hold you back - come back stronger than before and please keep up the great videos
ayyyyy! Thanks SO much Ashley! I cannot wait to get back to gym and my old way of life. I will make sure to come back stronger and smash this challenge again! and will be bigger and better! appreciate this comment!
All the best with your recovery. I went through something pretty similar recently, I started working out daily at the beginning of this year and was starting to see progress when I basically blew out my knee (tore my acl, sprained mcl, fractures in my tibia, fibula, and femur) when I fell off my bike. I didn't think I would be able to do anything for months, but just one month later I'm in physical therapy and able to lift weights and work on a stationary bike again. I can't wait to see part 2, I'm sure you'll be back and better than before!
Thankyou SO much!! that’s such an inspiring story!!!! Well done for getting to this point. I really hope I’m able to fully recover and come back fighting. It’s going to be a long process, like yours has been, but I am ready to do what’s needed to get me there! That comment is awesome Anish! Thankyou!
Thanks for sharing. I've also been focused on neglecting cardio in favor of strength training. I got into running 5ks on the treadmill for a small bit and liked the minute-by-minute improvements I was making.
No Problem! ThankYOU Omar! I'm not a fan of running on treadmills, I find it more boring (as your view is not changing) however I do know that they are easier on the knees so I can see their use!
@@TomSMorley agreed. Most of my cardio I prefer from pickup basketball, much more fun. I think the treadmill is only stimulating if you’re trying to beat a time benchmark or can listen to an audiobook/watch a show.
It's only failure if you stop trying, and you don't have that "stop trying" look about you man. Hope your recovery is going well!
Yeah no chance I’m letting this end my progress
Hopefully back running really soon
