@@spellandshieldsame. It was a major disappointment for me. Absolutely. Meanwhile, the studios that were infiltrated and infested by DEI hires are going to make slop while the talented men who moved on are going to make the kind of classics we all fell in love with.
I am excited to see what the minds behind Witcher games can offer when they are not constrained by or rely on established characters and lore. The quest design in the games was also one of their best aspects.
Nice to see the old guard are going to continue to deliver - between this and exodus the people who gave us mass effect and the Witcher trilogy (as opposed to the still extant projekt red and bioware) are still in the game.
As a big fan of vampires, I got pretty hyped just off the first announcement. I'm very interested to learn more, but did no know about the thing on Jan 13th. I'm looking forward to it now. There's actually another vampire RPG in the works I'm following: Vampire Syndicate. It's kind of a cyberpunk vampire thing (which was one of my favourite games that I ever ran on table top, nearly 30 years ago), and the lore for it is shaping up interestingly. The big ol' caveat to it is that it's a solo dev and a very ambitious project. He's even planning on having (optional) full on sexy times, which I'm all for, but the reality of that is that's on top of an already fully functional and feature rich RPG. I don't know how that's even possible, but I'm rooting for him. Of all the current cases of "please, prove me wrong" there are out there in the gaming landscape, Vampire Syndicate is currently at the top of the list.
Thanks for introducing this. I'll put this on my radar. Maybe this can replace the need for Vampire Masquerade series. I heard the second one isn't doing good
The headwriter of Witcher got accused of being abusive towards coworkers the Polish Police investigated and found nothing but because of that he decided to to leave the company. Care enough to do somethong interesting like dropping the trailer on a full moon.... just imagine not being entirely skeptical about a game when its announced.... is there hope for us yet?
I always plug the 1993 game Veil of Darkness for vampire games. One of the most intimidating vampire antagonists to this day, in my opinion. More so because you're just an average Joe who has to figure out how to dismantle an elder vampire in their own domain. Wish the game got more attention.
I think that a Vampire Werewolf hybrid would make for an awesome video game protagonist. Just imagine getting skill trees from one bloodline or the other. That said, plain werewolf or dhampir is great too.
Bloodlines 2 seems to be very lackluster. I would kill for a vampire game where you go through the centuries as you grow in power and influence. The perfect game would be a good mix of Redemption and Masquerade .
