They want money as much as any studio, the difference is their ethic and the way of watching their costumers as somebody to satisfy in order to earn them as loyal instead of walking wallets to profit from in order to beat another mediocre studio with predatory sales methods to be the first in the international market.
Larian's first game has been made one year before baldur's gate 1, in 1996. They've gone through very hard times with various editors and investors who screwed them many times but they kept going and found, at last, what they needed through crowd funding for original sin series. Larian is a unicorn, they're the exception, they sure want money ( who wouldn't?? ) but they never gave up their independance in exchange of easy funds by editors. They might have shown it's possible to do that, but it's a very long and hard way to take.
i use to think the same thing about Rockstar then they milked GTAV for 11 years over 3 console generations. They are for the players right up until they're not.
We need to preserve that studio at any costs. One of the last that put unbelievable passion in everything they do, and put their customers and fans first. Love them do death.
Yeah this and indie is the future. Most of the games I have played are self published and from indie devs, Larian started similarly, I think collectively we can raise new studios that actually care about gaming.
Would you say wukong is completely outside the scope of the criticism? Or that there was no negative reviews because they were actually upset their so beloved nation's game wasn't the winner (be it their actual favorite game or not)?
@@nelsonelloi3770what? Yes wukong is completely out of the scope of criticism. None of the devs told people to review bomb bg3. Idk if I misunderstood what you were saying but black myth doesn’t deserve any hate just because some of their players are stupid

Cannot agree more. At the very least, I hope their new game has the lore and stories that are as good or better than in DOS2. And no "Intergalactic-style" agendas, please.

I honestly wish that Larian would do a Star Wars game but not likely since Disney and Larian are diametrically opposed in the fact Disney pumps out for profit and Larian does games not just for profit but for fans/gamers.
I have a feeling they will be going for their own IP to be honest. That way they have absolute creative freedom. While BG3 was amazing they did have issues with Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro.... I suspect they may wan to avoid such things at least for the immediate future. But we shall see.
I'd ike to understand Svens message less as a criticism of others than a declaration of core values. And it is just great to see this communicated at a high level because it messages to people with decision power that not being an asshole is actually a winning strategy.
My only complaint is that Swen did not use the U word (Unions). If all companies treated their employees like Larian does, they would not be needed, but not all companies are Larian.
Unions aren't (as most things) a one size fits all solution. In America for example there are a lot of unions that primarily just focus on getting more dues from members and appearing to care without actually doing anything to help them (sound familiar?) like the Hollywood strikes if you look at what was said and agreed to it's obvious that they only care about being respected (the union not the actors) and that they enjoy wielding that power and influence like a cudgel to anyone that would get in their way. So yes Unions CAN help but they aren't doing anything that employees if they stood together can't do on their own.
That speech at TGA was pretty moving. He’s speaking to an industry that destroys people’s creativity and love for their work, begging it to stop. I hope they listen
It reminds me this NPC Pritt Yellowbreath in BG3 that screams "Interviews, politics, gossip - all of it gets in that bloody Baldur's Mouth rag. Except what the people actually want in a broadsheet - puzzles." and "Can't bloody believe it. No more puzzles. A travesty."
I second this, Divinity 2 is a really good strategy RPG just like bg3. Sure you don't throw or shove people, but you can still move them around the map, and there's a lot more homebrew feeling stuff since it's Larian's own IP
I just want to third DOS2. That being said I wouldn't highly recommend DOS1. It's a very fun game with great mechanics, but the story is so boring it's hard to keep yourself motivated on moving forward. DOS2 takes everything great about the first and adds a really great story on top of that. I wouldn't say DOS2 is as good as BG3, but it's pretty damn close.
What also should be mentioned is as well as the lore some of the mechanics of DOS 2 are also amazing. The ways you can play with spell effects working off not only each other but also with the environment are pretty damned amazing. Its an all round superb game, one of the finest RPG games ever made.
I recommend dos2 as well. It's a slow start, but the build diversity is awesome, I made a rogue that specialized in touch spells, that could teleport with their cat familiar. It's pretty rad

I played Divinity Original Sin 2 shortly after release, and then played it through again like 5 more times with different mods and different builds. To be completely honest though, I did not expect them to find this amount of success. Mainly because I knew the genre of games they make are not wildly popular. I am SOOO glad I was wrong. Great video man. Interested to see what the two new IP's are going to be. Tbh, I was hoping for a DoS3 modeled after BG3 but anything Larian is cool with me.
BG3 is going to end up being one of those generational games like Skyrim. Biggest difference is that the quality and depth of BG3 is unparalleled. Shame that Hasbro are morons and won't allow Larian the license to pursue anything further BG3 DLC/ BG4 wise. Despite that, I'll be checking out whatever they release next as they're one of the few game studios that actually gives a shit and respects the time and wallet of the player.
I had no idea we were getting new subclasses, that's crazy! I was missing Circle of Stars and Hexblade to recreate my actual DnD characters! Hell yeah!
Allow me to blow your mind: Divinity Original Sin, 1 and 2 (and others/ games before that, but I'm not as familiar with them). You want to see how they were so prepared to make BG3? Take a look at their amazing original IP that came before.
I like the ideas of subclasses. I do agree that cleric and paladin feel very similar now. Frankly paladin and warlock feel very similar now too. I would like a more support based Cleric. They have been buffed for every edition for 5 editions now. So a Nerf might be in order. I would like to see a subclass based off of exorcisist for either class. Which the first Cleric was supposed to be.
I don't know what WoTC did for Larian to not want to continue working with them, but I feel like it will go down as the biggest mistake they ever made. Whatever Larian does next, I know I'll love it, but knowing that it won't be Baldur's Gate 4 breaks my heart.
@@tuantran-me9nz Yeah I wasn't saying that it's not okay that their next game isn't with WoTC. I've been a fan of Larian since 2017 and love everything they do.

Did they ever say they finished the expansion, the only thing they ever said they weren’t working on it anymore, I know I’m just giving false hope, just would be nice to see parts of the game that were cut to be completed
No I believe they said it was in a somewhat playable state before being scrapped! Never say never, but at this point it looks unlikely that it will ever see the light of day 😢
Anyone who wishes to remain thought of as respectful and with critical thinking skills wouldn't need to insult BG3. Its Phenomenal on level after level. There are certain limits and choice you can make, sometimes you're semi forced into a choice, but the dialogue and overall playability is truly remarkable. The animations and voice acting make it leagues ahead of most films produced today. Lol ... review bombing. Silly lambs, like anyone cares what the Chinese think.
It’s in a league of its own. It’s literally set the standard for modern RPG’s. I truly don’t think we will see anything even remotely close to it for many years, except for maybe when Larian drop their next game 🤞
The hype and expectation of Larian's next game doesn't give me a lot of confidence, I hate to be a downer, but it's just life experience on such matters. BG3 was a unicorn that built on a much loved franchise with extensive world building.
I know its never gonna happen but I want Larian to get their hands on Cyberpunk so baddddd. Ugh it would be amazing to see a CRPG of the Cyberpunk universe. It needs the Baldurs Gate 3 Treatment ahhhhh
I can't wait to recreate my drunken master Tabaxi monk on my next playthrough. By the looks of it, they're making it even better than in D&D (where it's slightly underwhelming if you've seen the movie)
totally deserved award !!! hope that this will finish era of raelesed unfinshed unpolished games with need for 100 bug fix dlc before the game be playable. hope for more good movies from D&D universe like we had in marvel avengers era
Hey there, just wanted to let you know that we appreciate, that you are not one of those anti-gay broskys that pester the game-commentary space and actually report about one of our favorite games.
For sure. I’m a big believer in just allowing people to be themselves. Not everything is for everyone, and that’s ok. But at the end of the day we are all human… Glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Genuinely, the only reason your community gets pestered is that it's retaliatory. The game community as a whole has been attacked by your community through dev teams pushing identity politics. If everyone just stayed in their lane and didn't make their preferences, everyone else's problem things would be much more chill.
@VinceValentine What point did I miss? That a person believes because of their preferences they are infallible, and anyone that doesn't pander to them is wrong? People don't deserve special treatment, and nobody is above criticism, I believe solely in individual merit. The entire community believes they are above criticism. That's the problem. The point was missed from the jump, and not by me.
i was very hesistant in buying balduers gate 3 because its a series i never was familair with but a fuw weeks ago i finaly gave it a shot. i was very plesantly surprised great game. i usualy dont like games where mobs dont respawn but this game has so much that it doesnt matter, and its huge yet it doesnt start to bore me like some other huge games, and how you can deal with mobs has great varriety aswel. i see people handle bosses or mobs that i didnt even realize was possible, after 2 weeks i got 3 charc and am not even at act 2 yet wel oke am litteraly at the verge of act 2 on my first charc i think.
The narrator for BG3 played Malady in DoS2, so I guess that would be Malady talking if the image was from DoS2. (She also voiced the main character if you played a female in Divinity 2.)
Another example, Just look at Sonic!!! When they released their very first trailer the internet trolled them for Sonic design but they actually took it as feedback. And now it's going to be one of the most profitable animated trilogy
I know a little bit about the whole ordeal because I've played Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons for years: When it comes to the stuff that went down and why Larian isn't making a DLC, Baldurs Gate 4 or any expansions that they had planned comes down to Wizards Of The Coast, parented by HASBRO, that wanted 1: more DEI inclusion whilst Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition has had the most versatile DEI of any game before that community got a grip on gaming. 2: Because Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition is owned by Wizards Of the Coast, which has to obey to HASBRO's calls for more DEI and have it done 3 weeks ago Larian has decided to part ways with their connection to both of those companies and focus on the people and gamers that are actually interested in gaming instead of forcing a political agenda through games and a "you'll eat it because we say so" attitude. I am however VERY glad to see the company isn't going down just yet and really cares about the crowd they've gathered and keeps it "normal" which in this day and age makes you special.
Has much as I’m disappointed bg4 wont be made by Larian im excited to whatever game they make in the future! I’m sure we’ll still play bg4 tho bc it probably wont come out until my child is an adult when it comes out and we’ll still play it lol regardless im excited to what’s to come

I find it extremely funny, trying to review bomb a game already has proven to be superior to most games. it is far to late for these want to be reviewer to attack !! Pitiful !!!! Also the movie DRUNKEN MASTER CAME OUT October 5, 1978
I'm on my first playthrough in BG3 and I just love it so much. I've never thought that a round based rpg game would be that fun. I play it on ps5 and cant wait to use mods after my playthrough. Do you guys think that their next game will also be a rpg with as much freedom as BG3 ? I gope there will also je mod support for ps5 like BG3. 😊
Mods are already supported on console directly via in game menus. I’d expect their next divinity of sin 3 game to be similar in terms of story-options scope as bg3. I doubt that if they do a non-CRPG game it would have the same kind of options. It’s pretty impossible (at least in my mind) to recreate this kind of experience in a traditional rpg bc of the time to make decisions. Without turn-based gameplay a lot of combat options are likely to be more limited.

I think it was Larian who decided to make no more BG/DnD
Nice, i currently play a drunken monk in my current table top. That would be fun to play ingame for sure.
I’m so excited. Larian is currently the last studio that actually cares. They don’t care about forcing a narrative, just making good games
As much as it hurts we won’t get another baldurs gate or even dlc for 3 I’m still so excited to see what they are working on.
a shadow run game would be epic
Swen Vincke is pretty much the Satoru Iwata of Larian Studios. He is an Admiration of the Modern Day Game Industry !
probably original sin will be their new gane right? i mean many puzzle used os stuffs! :S
I hope Larian makes a Cyberpunk RED or 2020 inspired game
Great wrap up thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I had no idea we were getting new subclasses, that's crazy! I was missing Circle of Stars and Hexblade to recreate my actual DnD characters! Hell yeah!
Can’t wait! Enjoy my friend! 😊
I hope they work on making an original IP. They clearly have the team to make a good game. Would be crazy if they make a original game
Allow me to blow your mind: Divinity Original Sin, 1 and 2 (and others/ games before that, but I'm not as familiar with them). You want to see how they were so prepared to make BG3? Take a look at their amazing original IP that came before.
@ I only played DOS2. Did not know they made the whole series. Also a great game I played
Would be amazing if it were Icewind Dale or even Neverwinter Nights, or possibly a sci-fi themed game in their style.
I'd love ID or NW. Something set in a familiar universe. I never got into Larian's other stuff.
Honestly a warcraft dnd based game would be really awesome.
Yes!
I usually dont review games on Steam. Gonna do that now for BG3 lol
Haha do it!
Cyberpunk (TTRPG rules) would be so cool for them to make.
I don't know what WoTC did for Larian to not want to continue working with them, but I feel like it will go down as the biggest mistake they ever made. Whatever Larian does next, I know I'll love it, but knowing that it won't be Baldur's Gate 4 breaks my heart.
nah it would be fine if they make other games as long as it crpg it will be good
@@tuantran-me9nz Yeah I wasn't saying that it's not okay that their next game isn't with WoTC. I've been a fan of Larian since 2017 and love everything they do.
We don’t need a fourth one
@@kommandokenny12345 Why?
@ game is near perfect on its own without DLC. Ties up loose ends
Tbh i'd love to see a Baldur's gate 1,2 remake from them because i'm sure they are going to make them 1000x better than the originals, i loved their DOS 1 and 2 and Baldur's gate 3. But even if they make something completely new i'm buying it 100% even if it is a stick simulator
Uh, that would be hard to do considering BG1 and 2 are among the best RPGs of all time. BG2 is number 1 for me.
Baldur Gates 3, the game I like the most since of my last 10 years
Love to see them do a call of Cthulhu type of game. Great long creepy horror game
Did they ever say they finished the expansion, the only thing they ever said they weren’t working on it anymore, I know I’m just giving false hope, just would be nice to see parts of the game that were cut to be completed
No I believe they said it was in a somewhat playable state before being scrapped! Never say never, but at this point it looks unlikely that it will ever see the light of day 😢
I would love to have a physical edition of Baldur's Gate 3 in my collection...
They are probably waiting for final updates.
The last sentence is hilarious considering the first sentence.
@@Veritas-66 Yeah on second reads it did seem violently racist. To clarify, I meant towards their opinion on bombing the reviews.... ;)
Respectful critical comment and earnest admission of carelessness, what is this community? You guys don’t belong on YT, where the trolls rule!
That would be awesome!
If you need a friend to play BG3 with, I will be happy to play with you, good sir!
Very kind of you, my friend. Thank you! 🙏🏻💙
Why can’t Ubisoft be like this 🤦🏽♂️
They're independent mostly and that allows them to be as cool as they are.
@@xandermichael836 Way to totally miss the point
Wish the Storm Herald was the New Barbarian subclass or Zealot but Giant could be fun.
I wonder what the future of DnD video games looks like…
I know a little bit about the whole ordeal because I've played Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons for years: When it comes to the stuff that went down and why Larian isn't making a DLC, Baldurs Gate 4 or any expansions that they had planned comes down to Wizards Of The Coast, parented by HASBRO, that wanted 1: more DEI inclusion whilst Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition has had the most versatile DEI of any game before that community got a grip on gaming.
Something i really excited about as a mid developer is the new vfx that will becoming with patch 8
Imagine a Star Wars game by Larian!
😍
GOATED Devs
🐐🐐🐐
Sven wasn't corrupted in the chess club
Divinity Original Sin 3 pleasse
Yes!
Back to Rivellon! 😊❤
If I understood it rightly, they are working on 2 games, and I am pretty sure one of them is DOS 3. Fingers crossed!
If they are making a Cosmere game I will absolutely lose my shit!
Sci-Fi RPG made by Larian...I cannot contain myself.
Has much as I’m disappointed bg4 wont be made by Larian im excited to whatever game they make in the future! I’m sure we’ll still play bg4 tho bc it probably wont come out until my child is an adult when it comes out and we’ll still play it lol regardless im excited to what’s to come
Dear Larian, the only thing I want form bg3 is 2 things.
1.- I want Alfira to be a playable bard companion
2.- I want to know if karlach can be fixed with her engine.
player after patch 8 : It's over we will not have anymore updates T-T
Larian **hold my beer** : In the next patch we will give you an adventure editors so you can create your own adventures to be shared with other players
Aoife! I remember her from the Eurogamer channel I think, nice to see she moved to great job
So that’s where Aoife ended up
I really wanted Order domain for Cleric, It would have been soo much better than Death Domain. T.T
I find it extremely funny, trying to review bomb a game already has proven to be superior to most games. it is far to late for these want to be reviewer to attack !! Pitiful !!!!
Also the movie DRUNKEN MASTER CAME OUT October 5, 1978
1978?! Wow I did not realise it was that old. What a movie!
@@VeteranJoystick Maybe you were thinking of Drunken Master 2?
