Akala, I'm a Sinologist mostly in the company of non-academics. Your eloquent delivery of relevant issues in society stokes the fires desirous of equality brought about by destroying the Capitalist system. I'm also Scottish and we have Indyref2 approaching next year. I'm sure we'll gain our treasured freedom this time round. Last Referendum, the British government made all kinds of promises running up to the vote, then renegued on every one. Many people were fooled by this. You can't fool a nation twice. True colours showing glaringly and ghoulishly. Soon we'll be able to study any history in High school and learn. Hopefully after we quit the union, England and Wales will adopt PR and some more socialist parties will evolve with the chance of representing. Britain is a mess just now. Keep on educating yourself, Akala. I thrive on what you share and relish your relatable introductions since not everyone went into Academia. I noticed on one of your presentations you mentioned we may all have to learn Mandarin one day. I've been learning it for 25 years and know precisely why you say what you say despite the uninformed audience nervously laughing it away. Remember the US and Japan are the aggressors. China isn't looking for war and Russia retaliated, they didn't invade without serious provocation. China and Russia have Premiers who are raised and schooled to lead their Nations. We just have old school tie numbskulls hijacking a shit system. Honestly, let Babylon fall, let it crumble, that the phoenix may rise again. Amen.
Whatever happened to Akala? It seems he has decided to withdraw his voice from the public discourse. I wonder why. I guess he didn’t really realise how much his voice is needed/necessary. Now more than ever. Come back akala. Your people need you.
You literally have to do a talk on ancient Egypt- I’m dying for it. A widely debated topic with no meaningful answer really. Would love to see a talk on black Egyptians!
It wasn't only bk Egyptians it was all skin tones and colour never came into it back then only when a certain thing came along ? You know the thing that wherever it goes takes s-tan with it ? ie it begins with an i and ends in an m and rounded a lot of people up and STILL DOES TODAY like in Libya ? They've got 1000s of cages FULL OF bk people yet I hear FA from man like this which really makes me wonder as I'm from where he's from n worse literally so yeah I hope he tells us who chipped the noses off of the statue's and Dec im mated Egyptian culture n life as it's done to most of North Africa ha? Yep it would be nice to hear from my man here this akala ha?
I'm working out listening to drill wandering... when is OG Akala gonna get on a drill beat with that agressive wisdom. That led me to watch this video.
Akala, I have been listening to you since 2015! You inspired me to rap! Below is one of my songs. Life is just a gamble we play the cards we are dealt/ I can't explain the pain of wanting to fold through all this hell/ But we seek help extending a hand to be held/ I hope I get to start again so I can stand where I fell/ . Life is a twisted little shit bitch give me a break/ We give and we take we even forgive the slithering snake/ Now envision my hate forgiving every sin that's been made/ Ever since we've been raised we made it through the darkest of days/ . We sit and debate all the wicked decision's that's been made/ We sit and it plays in our brain's over and over again/ We sit and pray hoping all the sheeple manage to change/ We are living in fear with pain existing in this prison enslaved/ . I would hate to end my life and these thoughts I can't entertain/ The blood is flowing through my veins and then the pain goes to my brain/ Are you insane talking to myself again are you to blame/ The lies will often change but the truth just remains the same/ . I came from the bottom but all the time my mind is breaking/ With some time inside my mind I might arise and then awaken/ When I look inside my eye's I'm not surprised that I've seen Satan/ I'd rather die than idolize the hypnotizing lying statement's/ . There are layers to people hatred and I ain't afraid to say it/ In a way, I am just a slave and restrained inside this matrix/ But I am breaking out of these cages laying waste to all the haters/ As I rape this with all the syllables I scribble on these pages/ . Creating this isn't difficult making miracles on paper/ We should all start in creating a new life in the making/ And on the od occasion glance at the star's and constellation's/ My beliefs are fading only showing that knowing's replaced them/ . Unlike all the lies the truth never fears an investigation/ I think with my head and my heart through these hardships I'm facing/ Stumbling falling from all this hating if you can wait then I'll explain it/ This world is our's that we're shaping and it is ripe for the taking/ . . . #NotaGlobe
@Pete Mitchell you obviously haven't listened to any of his raps then because if you did you'd be at the very least....a better human for having listened to it....and also, some bit educated.....he is amazing......he will school you better than mainstream education in just 1 of his songs....if you open up to actively listening to him.
@Pete Mitchell your calling me sad because I said how much he inspires me? I think that's the saddest thing ever....but you'll grow and you'll learn. Best of luck to you!
Akala is a true G...but as far as Black British Music. It truly has shaped the way even those from different areas that you would least expect actually want to connect with those artists and people from where those artists were born and raised. It's slowly undoing the political racism, and prejudice that the mainstream media and mainstream education like to push from an early age...absolutely true or definitely agree?
Black British Music and Black influenced music has been breaking those political boundaries for longer than it gets credit for. Before Jungle there was Britcore, and before that Ska (and Ska Punk). And always the media has pushed against it all and what it brought. People coming together.
Mad this pops up as I'm listening to Dennis Brown and Omar. True Facts my workout playlist is all stripper slackness, and my Korean favs are ultra violent.
Cinema is a bad comparison to Drill music. And thats because the violence in a movie is deeply contextualised with the intention of illiciting emotions of shock, anguish, suspence etc...A Drill rapper is intends for the listener to dance, twerk and celebrate the murder and violence he is rapping about. The more apt comparison would be video game violence. Video games, like rap music makes complete trivial banter out of murder although I must mention that the more clever the rapper the more he can use violence and murder in a metaphorical sense (see battle rappers) or contexrualise it in story telling the same way a movie does (see good kidd madd city)
@SuRyeon An Yes it is, if I remember correct, Akala attempted to expose the criticism of violence in Drill music as a logical fallacy citing the people's reluctance to be so critical of Korean revenge cinema. For the reason I stated I think the comparison is innapropriate.
