  • In this video, Rosalind Picard shares the story of her journey to God. Along the way, she unpacks the critical realization that Science, as wonderful as it is, is not the only vehicle to bring us to Truth and that many aspects of human life simply fall outside the view of Science. She then explains her process of seeking answers to those huge Why questions that go beyond mere process or mechanism. I hope you enjoy!

Former non believer here...I was a homeless addict, I'd been through so much grief, pain and sadness and I moved into a new home with my husband after getting off of opiates and I spent a year being attacked by the demonic. Mentally, spiritually, and physically. Well, long story. Im more sure now of the presence of God than I am of anything else. My testimony; the experience is the best gift I've ever been given. I've stayed on the straight and narrow (joyfully) for 7 years and God has given me new life!!!❤

That's because nothing in science provides evidence that any god exists, and much of science provides strong evidence against some particular religions like Christianity. If you look at the actual reasons that scientists are Christian, they have nothing to do with the good evidentiary standards of science. Francis Collins converted because he saw a beautiful waterfall and felt emotionally moved by it, for example. Dr. Picard never mentions the specific reasons and speaks in generalities, but according to her bio, she converted to Christianity during her freshman year in college. So, she was a Christian. Later, she became an MIT professor.

It is true that many scientists are not Christians, & hold no religion. But those same people treat this world as their heaven & make our existence a heaven on earth, as they do not believe that our existence exists after death.
I feel that there is something very selfless in living as if our days are numbered & wanting to make a positive impact on the world.

Been an atheist and talked bad about Christianity my whole life.
I felt a pull toward it at the start of the year, met my local priest and visited his church and he gave me a bible.
Shortly after that I was holding a cross given to me 15 years ago in Afghanistan by an army Padre, I tried to refuse it at the time saying I wasn’t religious, he made a joke and placed it in my hand and told me he would pray for me. On that tour I was in a very large explosion where it was thought I was killed instantly. I walked away without a scratch.
In that moment holding them in my hand again thinking back I had a flood of positive emotions and broke down in tears. That padre got me closer to GOD. When I returned I stepped away as I didn’t wear my dog tags with that cross on it. But I felt in that moment he was there the whole time! Looking after me and making sure my suicide didn’t work when I was at my lowest. I’ve always felt alone in this world but that moment I felt so loved and embraced.
It’s affected everything in my life in a positive way. I’m far from perfect but my word do I see where I go wrong now and even stop my self reacting now, so much more inner peace which is growing daily.
For whatever reason it’s happened, I’m so glad it has and I am all in. Reading the bible and learning along the way. 🙏🏼❤️🫡🇬🇧

@@joshfreeman3452 Hello Josh, happy Saturday:) Just wanted to share a super short version of my story. Former non believer here. I used to roll my eyes at the idea of God, I would get annoyed when I'd hear people talk about Jesus. I valued intellect and would use human logic to explain why believing in God is Silly...well, many traumatic losses in my life later and I was broken and beaten down. I had lost everything but my marriage. My husband and I moved into a new home when I was 39 years old and the year of demonic oppression began. It began as terrifying dreams and feelings of being watched and progressed to poltergeist activity, repeated banging on the side of our house that sounded like a semi truck was ramming into it. Terrifying disembodied voices and dark apparitions to mental and physical, yes, PHYSICAL abuse that started happening to me every single day. I can't talk about the nature of that abuse here.I did EVERYTHING to get help. Fled the home only to be followed, sought mental health help (which didn't help because I was deemed lucid), ruled out EVERY LOGICAL thing that it could have been and in the end after ALL OF THE THINGS I did to get away from this demon the ONLY THING that saved us was the Word of God and becoming a believer. The DAY, the first DAY I actually prayed for the first time the attacks stopped. I woke up the next morning and felt completely different. There's alot more...enough to fill a book but anyhow, some of us have had experiences that have given us no room for doubt, and I mean no room. I will never turn back. Your intellect and logic will never bring you close to God but your humility will. Most of us find him when we realize that NO one else can help us. Anyhow, I hope that someday you do come to know the God that made you and that loves you beyond your comprehension. The placebo effect is part of what God gives us. It's the power of belief and hope! • @christianc397
    @christianc397 4 місяці тому +11

I went through similar. i was atheist and used to tell religious people they were crutching to avoid existentialism. Until, i fell into deep anxiety, nihilism and that exact existential dread. In that time i studied astrophysics, biology and psychology. After looking a bit at them subjects often you become scared of the fact you're stood on a tiny speck travelling thousands of miles an hour through the abyss, nothing in your life has meaning, not even your family and there's no point to this. That is where i was. I actually said a prayer at that point even though i didn't believe. From that day, i kept studying and the more i learned, the more i saw God. He pulled me out of that unbearable state.
The process went a bit like this. The universe had a beginning which means there had to be a cause. (Remember, according to the naturalist view before this NOTHING existed, not even the moulds to shape the physical world, no maths, nothing at all). This means the cause of the universe is outside of space, time and matter; all powerful; perfect, eternal and a personal being because it chose to create us. From there you realise the creator has the right to tell us what we can and can't do in his creation. This is where the 10 commandments come in. That's when you have to ask yourself, according to them, am i a good person? lets see: have i ever stole? yes. have i ever lied? yes. etc etc. You quickly realise that to God's perfect standard, NONE of us are good people at all. So, since we have sinned and gone against the creator's rules, most the other religions say doing good will outweigh the bad. However, this would not be a just judge. If you had a speeding fine then went to court and said, "but i went under the speed limit the rest of the month" is that going to justify your punishment? No. This is actually a pivotal point in disregarding other religions. So, if all sin must be punished because that is what is just, surely that means none of us deserve heaven? Correct. We all fall short of God's standard. However, if you were in court and your friend came along and paid your fine would that work? yes. As long as it is paid for the judge finds it just. You see, this is where i came to faith. God partially limits himself to flesh to come to earth as Jesus, live a sinless life, perform miracles, heal people and die on the cross to pay that price for us all. Many people then say God cannot limit himself, not only is saying that limiting God, but God already partially limited himself when creating us. He did not need us. Yet he limited himself to share his glory with people who want to be with him. Add to this the 300+ prophesies Jesus impossibly fulfilled( literally read Isaiah 53), the fact his disciples went from fleeing out of fear when he died to suddenly be willing to get decapitated, sawn in half, fed to animals because they said they saw him risen (as he said he would on the 3rd day). Then you look at the archaeological evidence, mirales, NDE's, the fact that the apostles has absolutely no incentive to make any of them things up. THEN look around us right now. The prophesies happening in front of our eyes. Anyways, yeah i went from nihilism to Christ, he fixed my anxiety, i no longer fear the future. However, if you're reading this and feel worked up about what i have said, please know, i used to feel that same way. Soften your heart and be open minded. Putting our faith in Jesus is God's gift out of grace for us to get to heaven, even relying 1% on your own works and actions makes you fall short of his standard because only God is good.
Sending love to whoever has took the time to read.

I guess we are scooping that low huh. The cloth does not prove anything, it dates back to the medieval ages and it is still debated.
The conversion of Paul is indeed interesting but does not prove the resurrection. He never met Jesus. This does not prove Jesus did miracles or really anything. Just like an atheist turning to Islam or Christianity does not prove the religion.
How do you explain the fact that the biblical account is all we have for something like someone coming from the dead. How do you account for the fact that we don't know the author of the first four doctrines. how do you account for the fact that witness you claim to have all wrote down their stuff decades after the event. How do you account for the fact that your god decided the best place to appear is not the heart of Rome where more people will write about him but in the middle of nowhere where we have not much information about the people there at that time.

When I was 27 years old and going through a miserable time in my life with alcohol, drugs, and a failing marriage, I decided I would start reading the book that I had criticized all my adult life and had never opened. After about a week of nightly reading the OT, I realized it was the truth and then I read the gospel of John and realized I had a serious problem and that I needed salvation. @@jamesrav it is not easy to grasp, but Christianity is not a religion, it is a word to encapsulate man’s relationship with God restored through The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A man, created through the union of the Holy Spirit and a woman - Mary, who became Emmanuel - God with us.
He lived a sinless life, despite many temptations, so that when he died, he was completely innocent, and therefore the only one who could stand in our place.
The ‘gift’ is free to us. All we need to do is to accept who he is, and place our faith and trust in him. In that moment our spiritual eyes are opened, as we are reconnected with our Heavenly Father.
Religion is invented by man. It is usually a series of rules designed to illicit conformance. It is usually all about what man can do for god, to please him, to gain acceptance.
The truth is what God has done for man through the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
There are many famous scientists who profess or have professed Jesus Christ as Lord. John Lennox, former professor of mathematics at Oxford University is one such person.
I hope and pray that you take time to investigate the claims of Jesus Christ for yourself.

Atheism is based on the BELIEF that there is no God despite the overwhelming evidence around us that there is God, there is Creator, there is Devine order, there is good, there is evil, there is Truth (objective), there is love, the man is a complex spiritual being not just a bunch of chaotic chemical and psychical coincidences and reactions.
By the way, there is a CATEGORIAL MATERIAL EVIDENCE that the Gospels are absolutely right about the death and the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the only Begotten Son of God and God Himself. This is the Shroud of Turin (the burial cloth of Jesus) which contains the undeniable material information, recognized even by the honest non Christian scientists.
P.S. Jesus went through hell on earth and bellow, carried our unmeasurable filth and died for us, and for us to be ashamed of Him and His Gospel is beyond cowardice. There is nothing courageous to proclaim His Holy name even in deadly circumstances - it’s the smallest act of gratitude we own Him and at the same time it is a matter of eternal life or death for us.

1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

According to polling, atheists on average have read the bible more than Christians and know more about Christian theology than Christians do on average. Many Christians, when they finally read the Bible, become atheists. You were trained to think that if an idea feels good to believe, then that is evidence the belief is true. That's provably false, and thinking like that will leave you open to all sorts of exploitation by liars and con artists. After all, you've already fallen for the con that is Christianity.

With this short life we have a choice, which brings faith and belief into the picture. Meaning we have to be diligent, honest, and patient in our perspectives because there is no authority directly telling us what to believe or have faith in even though there are those who have spent their entire lives earnestly seeking "truth" who have left their musings for us to read and consider (I would start with the Bible, as the genuine woman in the video did). I really love hearing about her journey, and she is so eloquent and genuine in explaining her thoughts and beliefs. It's quite beautiful to listen to. She explains how science is only one of many different methods of gaining knowledge and finding truth, which is a good insight. I would just like to add that Christianity and Jesus are also only one path of many that can lead you to a deeper understanding of and relationship with God. I personally think that other religions, philosophies, and belief systems are even more beatiful, insightful, and meaningful, and there will always be deeper and deeper levels of truth to seek out, understand, practice, and embody. And aside from regular modes of learning and understanding things on a conscious level, there are vast dimensions of truth that can only be accessed through various active practices, methods, rituals, expanding/altering consciousness, etc. A lot of the deepest levels of knowledge that I've found to be the most profound can almost solely be understood through direct experience. :)

I’ve seen many people give the same sentiment before turning to Christ. God is softening your heart and preparing you to accept Him. I considered myself agnostic at one point. Although I was deemed “successful with a bright future” by most, I always felt empty. I never knew why until I was at my breaking point, crying out for answers. Once my pride and ego had been shattered, and I was left sobbing on my knees, Jesus revealed himself to me. I pray you don’t have to reach that low of a point to turn to Him, but once you’re saved it won’t matter anyways. I hope you search for answers with all your heart, because God is waiting for you.

I liked it when she said it about her life “I didn’t realise it needed improvement at the time”. It says so much there, i was like that before, i thought i was doing fine but i did actually become better and little step at a time im getting better to my self relationship with God and people around me. Somehow you started to see clearly and its hard to explain to the non believers. I hope and pray they experience it too.

I was a former nonbeliever. I also have a science background and support the scientific method. I came to Christ as well. My life was fine at the time. There was no desperation at the time. Then I experienced some real life challenges both personal and physical. It was my year of the biblical Job I call it. Yet, my faith didn’t waver. It grew. If I didn’t have my faith, I don’t think I’d be here. Her description of feeling the truth like a musical instrument is spot on.

Listening to this testimony of one person's journey to religion, to Christianity , (to Christ?) was encouraging. Shows the loving patience of her creator. I've read or listened to many such testimonies and are of the opinion that any sincere and honest seeker of the Creator will not be ignored by or hated by Him ("while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us") nor disappointed by his apparent silence. "something in you that sings" is so beautiful yet not the sole communication nor uplift from God. Many other honest seekers have come to similar conclusions after traveling down one of very many false trails and discovering its falsity. However, there is just a single savior-god for us all regardless of where it is that you come from. I pray that she (and readers right here) asks for and receives full forgiveness for sin and continues to sing to the Lord as she grows closer to him emotionally, spiritually and physically (her specialty)

The Bible, including the book of Proverbs, is a collection of ancient texts written by various authors over centuries. It’s not a scientific textbook or a manual for understanding reality. Emotional responses to these writings are subjective and do not necessarily reflect their literal truth or objective value.

She also converted to Christianity her freshman year in college, according to her bio, and so she was clearly not convinced by an advanced scientific analysis of anything.
