So you never did any critical investigation? --------------------------------------------------------- *Miracles and Apotheosis in the Ancient Mediterranean World* *"It should first be noted that miracle stories are not uncommon in the literature of this period.* Ancient people believed in a world permeated by the supernatural and readily accepted stories of miracles and believed in stories of visions and visitors from the world of the divine all the time. *Even very sober and sometimes sceptical historians like Tacitus will pass on accounts of miracles that he clearly accepts and expects his audience to believe as historical.* So when we read stories of how the emperor Augustus was *miraculously conceived by the god Apollo,* or how his birth was *presaged by a new star in the heavens,* or how Julius Caesar was seen *ascending into the heaven* after his death or how Vespasian *healed lame and blind people* who asked him for a miracle, we accept that these stories represent the kinds of things ancient people genuinely believed about great men. Or we accept that they are at least told to indicate that the man in question was great. *What we don't do is accept that simply because people believed these stories they must mean that they really happened.* And this is even when the stories are presented to us by a very careful historian and given to us as verified fact. Take Tacitus' account of the miracles of the emperor Vespasian: "In the months during which Vespasian was waiting at Alexandria for the periodical return of the summer gales and settled weather at sea, many wonders occurred which seemed to point him out as the object of the favour of heaven and of the partiality of the Gods. One of the common people of Alexandria, well known for his blindness, threw himself at the Emperor's knees, and implored him with groans to heal his infirmity. This he did by the advice of the God Serapis, whom this nation, devoted as it is to many superstitions, worships more than any other divinity. .... And so Vespasian, supposing that all things were possible to his good fortune, and that nothing was any longer past belief, with a joyful countenance, amid the intense expectation of the multitude of bystanders, accomplished what was required. *The hand was instantly restored to its use, and the light of day again shone upon the blind. Persons actually present attest both facts, even now when nothing is to be gained by falsehood."* (Histories, IV, 81) Tacitus was closely connected to the court of Vespasian's sons and successors, Titus and Domitian, and so in a position to know the "persons actually present" and to consult them long after Vespasian's death "when nothing is to be gained by falsehood". He was also a very careful historian who scorned those who took rumour and stories as fact without checking them against sources and eye witnesses and who condemned those who "catch eagerly at wild and improbable rumours in preference to genuine history" (Annals, IV,11). *Despite this, I don't know anyone who would read the account above and conclude that the emperor really had magical healing powers and genuinely used his supernatural abilities to heal people.* The fact that even a judicious and often sceptical analyst like Tacitus accepted this story shows us just how readily people in the ancient world accepted claims of the miraculous. *One form of miracle that was widely believed in was the idea of apotheosis, where a great man is physically taken up in to the heavens and raised to divine status.* It was claimed that Romulus, the founder of Rome, underwent this process and *later appeared to his friend Julius Proculus to declare his new celestial status.* The same claim was made about Julius Caesar and Augustus, *with supposed witnesses observing their ascent into the heavenly realm.* Lucian's satire The Passing of Peregrinus includes his scorn for the claim that the philosopher was *taken up into the celestial realm and was later seen walking around on earth after his death.* The Chariton novel Callirhoe has its hero Chaereas visiting the tomb of his recently dead wife, saying he *"arrived at the tomb at daybreak"* where he *"found the stones removed and the entrance open. At that he took fright."* Others are afraid to enter the tomb, but Chaereas goes in and finds his wife's *body missing* and concludes she has been *taken up by the gods."* If you want to read how the resurrection legend grew over time, read the below article by Tim O'Neill who is a former Christian and has been studying the scholarship for over 25 years. *Answer* What-evidence-is-there-for-Jesus-Christs-death-burial-and-resurrection/answer/Tim-ONeill-1 - Quora You can also read the below article by a former Christian apologist on how he agrees with the mainstream scholarship that Jesus was a failed apocalyptic prophet. *"ex-apologist: On One of the Main Reasons Why I Think Christianity is False (Reposted)"* Also, how cognitive dissonance possibly explains early Christianity. *“The Rationalization Hypothesis: Is a Vision of Jesus Necessary for the Rise of the Resurrection Belief?”* - by Kris Komarnitsky | Κέλσος - Wordpress *"How do we know that the biblical writers were* ***not*** *writing history? -- by Dr Steven DiMattei"* *"How Did The Gospel Writers Know? - The Doston Jones Blog"* *"Yes, the Four Gospels Were Originally Anonymous: Part 1 - The Doston Jones Blog"* *"Are Stories in the Bible Influenced by Popular Greco-Roman Literature? - The Doston Jones Blog"* *"Gospels Not Written By Matthew, Mark, Luke or John - The Church Of Truth"* *"February 2015 - Escaping Christian Fundamentalism"* - Isaiah 53 *"Jesus and the Messianic Prophecies - Did the Old Testament Point to Jesus? - The Bart Ehrman Blog"* *"Did Jesus Fulfill Prophecy? | Westar Institute"* *"Jesus Was Not the Only “Prophet” to Predict the Destruction of the Temple - Escaping Christian Fundamentalism"* *"What Do the Apostles’ Deaths Prove? @@Daily_Dose_Of_Wisdom Yep. God is so good, if you're brainwashed. --------------------------------------------------------- *This website is designed to spread the vicious truth about the Bible. For far too long priests and preachers have completely ignored the vicious criminal acts that the Bible promotes. The so called God of the Bible makes Osama Bin Laden look like a Boy Scout. This God, according to the Bible, is directly responsible for many mass-murders, rapes, pillage, plunder, slavery, child abuse and killing, not to mention the killing of unborn children.* I have included references to the Biblical passages, so grab your Bible and follow along. *It always amazes me how many times this God orders the killing of innocent people even after the Ten Commandments said Thou shall not kill.* For example, God kills 70,000 innocent people because David ordered a census of the people (1 Chronicles 21). God also orders the destruction of 60 cities so that the Israelites can live there. He orders the killing of all the men, women, and children of each city, and the looting of all of value (Deuteronomy 3). He orders another attack and the killing of all the living creatures of the city: men and women, young, and old, as well as oxen sheep, and asses (Joshua 6). In Judges 21 He orders the murder of all the people of Jabesh-gilead, except for the virgin girls who were taken to be forcibly raped and married. When they wanted more virgins, God told them to hide alongside the road and when they saw a girl they liked, kidnap her and forcibly rape her and make her your wife! *Just about every other page in the Old Testament has God killing somebody!* In 2 Kings 10:18-27, God orders the murder of all the worshipers of a different god in their very own church! In total God kills 371,186 people directly and orders another 1,862,265 people murdered The God of the Bible also allows slavery, including selling your own daughter as a sex slave (Exodus 21:1-11), child abuse (Judges 11:29-40 & Isaiah 13:16), and bashing babies against rocks (Hosea 13:16 & Psalms 137:9). ***This type of criminal behavior should shock any moral person.*** ***Murder, rape, pillage, plunder, slavery, and child abuse can not be justified by saying that some god says it’s OK.*** If more people would actually sit down and read the Bible there would be a lot more atheists like myself. *Jesus also promoted the idea that all men should castrate themselves to go to heaven:* For there are eunuchs, that were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are eunuchs, that were made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs, that made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it (Matthew 19:12). *I don’t know why anyone would follow the teachings of someone who literally tells all men to cut off their privates.* The God of the Bible also was a big fan of ritual human sacrifice and animal sacrifice. *And just in case you are thinking that the evil and immoral laws of the Old Testament are no longer in effect, perhaps you should read where Jesus makes it perfectly clear:* It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid (Luke 16:17). There are many more quotes on this topic at my Do Not Ignore the Old Testament web page. *If you follow the links on this site you will learn about all the nasty things in the Bible that are usually not talked about by priests and preachers.* www.evilbible.com/ Watch *"Context!!!!!!"* by NonStampCollector (A good video for believers who try to rationalise Biblical atrocities and immorality by saying "Out of context".)
@@philipbarry9209 I don't have enough faith to believe that promise ;) More lives have been immensely changed for the good, and have been revealed purpose, meaning, and fulfillment through Christ than any other secular establishment. Many people have been "lost" as Christians, that's because they're either not practicing, don't care, or don't understand, which then, you can't really be called a Christian if you don't even put in any effort.
So true. As children,we did not question God's existence. We KNEW HIm. We only learned to deny God when we grew up in hubris, anger and disappointment. Denial of God is arrested emotional, psychological, intellectual and spiritual development.
@@paulbeardsley4095 Actually that is not what I was talking about. I was meaning that we are born with a sense of the numinous. The Bible puts it in better context: '“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”' (Revelation 1:8)
@@AnnabelleJARankin So you've gone from the numinous to the God of the Bible. Okay. A sense of the numinous is not in any way evidence than God exists.
This is awesome. Many must finally realize that Gods ways and thoughts are higher than ours and surrender to his will, through Jesus Christ. God bless all
I don't like the word "surrender" since it implies giving up who we are. God has made it so our choices are still our own while we are here and doors are made available that we can walk through if we want. Jesus would want us to spread the word of God and live a truly selfless life... not just physically but it needs to be reflected in our thoughts because that's what we bring with us after death. Once we die there can be no lies and our thoughts are available to any soul that wishes to communicate, that's why practicing while we are here is so important.
Lately I’ve been questioning my position in life… and looking back on the many jobs I’ve had… the answer seems time and time again .. that I am always driven by the same God.. no matter how powerful the evil has become and how openly it walks the planet… my childhood faith has never truly shaken… and I ask Jesus back into my heart often…
What evidence is mounting for the existence of god? I’ve yet to see any evidence for a god. If there is evidence I’d love to know about it so I can believe.
I too was exactly like this man in the video and it took a few years for me to gradually come around. Reading C.S. Lewis "mere christianity"" was a good start where he talks about the innate moral values we have that evolution can not explain. What I found is that you have to open yourself to it. This man opened himself to it, he was curious. I believe if you do this, he will come into your heart but you can't be the one saying "show me proof!" Jesus is not a magic god that will appear to you in some apparition even if you want it so.
@@fredgarv79 if you don’t ask for evidence for god. Then why believe in the abrahamic god? Why none of the Hindu gods? Why not Odin or Zeus? You ABSOLUTELY need evidence. If you don’t look for evidence , you’re the type of person that will believe in anything. I was once a “born again Christian “ a long time ago. I used to be just like you and all other Christian’s on here; completely blind and believed anything the Bible said. It wasn’t until I opened my mind and started questioning everything that I realized it was bullshit.
I had the privelege of hearing Dr. Collins give this presentation at Caltech some years ago. I was surprised - and delighted - at how well the audience received this. ✝

The ancient hebrew word for ascend/rise above, as in: "I will ascend my throne above the stars of God"? עָלָה. Pronounced phonetically as 'alah.' Islam denies the deity of Christ and the events of His death and resurrection, upon which the salvation of all believers hinges. The prophecies of the islamic messiah figure, the 'mahdi' or 'twelfth imam,' match perfectly with the prophecies of the book of Revelation, except they describe the Antichrist, the 'Beast' of Revelation who will set up a false system and require all bend the knee or be beheaded, the favored method of execution for muslims. Just as the Beast will in Revelation, the 'mahdi' is predicted to establish seven years of peace with Israel, then betray them at the 3.5 year mark and begin persecuting them, among many other matching prophecies. What are one of the activities that the followers of the Beast do after the two witnesses of Revelation are murdered? They exchange gifts, a popular form of celebration among muslims when enemies of islam die or are killed. Who will accompany the 'mahdi' and assist him? Why the prophet Jesus of course, and he will 'break the cross' and convert all those foolish Christians to Islam. "And behold, I saw another Beast rise from the earth. It had two horns *like a LAMB* but spoke like a dragon." Jesus is frequently referred to as the Lamb of God. The Jesus of islamic prophecy who comes to aid the 'mahdi' is the False Prophet of Revelation. Islam is not ok. Even more than any other false religion islam is Satan's most insidious counterfeit. He uses prophecies he knows will come to pass but twists them so that when they do come to pass he will be able to deceive most of the world. He did the same when trying to tempt Jesus, using passages of scripture out of context and with twisted interpretations to try and tempt the Savior into sin. If you are trapped in this religion, get out. If you are complacent regarding it, stop. To all who read this, repent of your sins and turn to Jesus Christ. Place your trust in Him and He will save you from eternal separation from God. Like every other religion, islam preaches a works based salvation. Jesus taught us that He is the only way, that only His finished work on the cross can save us. 'He who has ears, let him hear!' as Jesus said. Please, I beg you, consider this all very carefully. The decision to reject or accept Jesus Christ as you only hope for salvation is the single most important decision you can possibly make. "It is appointed unto man to die once, and then to judgement." If you feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit when you read these words then God is trying to reach you, but in the end the choice is yours. We will either say to Him: "Your will be done." or He will say to us: "Your will be done." I love you. I hope to meet you in God's kingdom someday.
It’s really easy to say we are blessed to be here in a time where human well-being is the highest it has ever been. And all we had to do to get here was suffer immensely. God is a monster.

@@jerrylong6238 with a little search on youtube, you can gather all the free information you could hope for, you just have to ask the right questions, and follow truth and discernment! 🙏🧐
@@jerrylong6238 Answers to Some Questions Individuals May Have 1) Why would God need blood sacrifices as an answer for sins which he already knew would happen? Answer: As God knows the end from the beginning The Son was going to come down and become a man born from a VIRGIN woman that would be implanted with the SEED from THE HOLY GHOST. When Jesus Christ was born - not only was he born for the sake of the Adam race, but as an answer to the Angels - especially the Fallen Angels. The idea of 'sacrifice' and 'sacrifices' are not just animals getting slaughtered, but when the individual would cause the animal to be slaughtered - it would be felt by the one allowing his beast to be sacrificed. The beast is slaughtered, and the one who is having his beast sacrificed feels the 'pain' of 'sacrificing' one of his best beasts. It comes with a price to the one doing the sacrifice. When the people would sacrifice to God they were to put their heart into it. And there were/are many different sacrifices that were done. So God knew beforehand that man would sin; and he knew that there would be Fallen Angels as well. With the sacrifices, the innocent beasts that were sacrificed paid the price of the one sacrificing them. When they would sacrifice many of the sacrifices required, the one sacrificing the beast would put his hand on the head of the beast as if he were transferring himself to the beast. The beast was then sacrificed. All these animal sacrifices were a 'Type' of what was going to eventually occur in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ which was going to occur. When Jesus Christ was sacrificed he did it as not only as a man, but as a servant. As a Burnt Offering he wholly gave himself to his FATHER. As the TRESPASS and SIN OFFERINGS he was the ONE in which represented the Adam race: he paid the price. When he was in the process of his earthly ministry he was in complete obedience to The Father and was led by The Holy Ghost. Jesus Christ sacrificed himself 'ALONE' on that cross - and therefore he cried out Psalm 22:1 "My God, My God Why hast Thou Forsaken Me?" The Angels nor the Prophets understood what was taking place on that cross. The Devil himself did not understand. If the Devil would have known that the Death of Jesus Christ was going to be a victory, then the Devil would have done his part in trying to influence the people to keep him alive. When Jesus Christ died, he offered himself up to God as the Burnt Offering, the Atonement Sacrifice, and all of the Sin and Trespass Offerings that were required by men. He conquered DEATH, the DEVIL, and HELL when he died, was buried, and resurrected from the dead as he foretold his disciples - and as he told the people. God was pleased with the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. God accepted what Jesus Christ offered for himself to God; and what Jesus Christ offered for the Adam race to God. God was pleased. The Angels, good and bad saw this. They did not know that God was going to use the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ be an answer of salvation to the Adam race of all that have been, are, and will be saved. This was God's plan unbeknownst to the Angels and unbeknownst to the Prophets foretelling of the sacrifice. The Blood Sacrifices came with a price for all that had sacrificed to God - and God also FELT the sacrifice. Now this act by the Godhead was for Angels and Man to see; and possibly any other creature that God created as well. 2) Why punish the Adam race for Adam's sin? Answer: Adam had free will just like the Angels, but fell. Unlike many Scholars and Theologians saying that we all have 'Free Will' - I have to disagree. The Children of Adam all started off with 'Sin' in their genealogy. Adam did not suffer that, but his descendants did. With The Lake of Fire and Brimstone that was prepared for The Devil and his Angels was/is also used for the unsaved individuals of the Adam race. Adam tried to cover his nakedness with palm leaves, but The Lord replaced it with 'coats of skin' - animal sacrifice, God clothed them (The Man and the Woman). With Adam's answer for his nakedness he used palm leaves to hide his nakedness. This is a kind of answer that Man may use for his actions - and it might be called, 'religion'. God's answer was 'Sacrifice'. When Man sins, it does affect God. Man's answers for his own sins does not please God, but God's answer... is the answer. In the Western World 'especially' in this day, people don't care to be 'told' or 'instructed' what to do - and to 'obey authority'. God wants obedience. The Fallen Angels with their 'Free Will' did not want to 'Obey' - and they have their destination. The Adam race does not have the 'free will', but they have the 'Sacrifice' that is accepted by God. There is a final destination with The Fallen Angels... or to be saved. To us, the 'time element' might be long - but to God - 'time' has no power over him. The people 'before' the cross had to have 'Animal Sacrifices' until Jesus Christ - and God did and does the accepting. So obedience and responsibility was/is required by the Adam race. People may not be happy about this, but God is The Creator - and he decides. 3) If Jesus is God why would he have to die, but if he really can't die? Answer: He did not die as GOD, he died as a man. As a man, he represented the Adam Race... he often referred to himself as the Son of Man (Adam). Refer to Psalm 22:1) My God, My God...why hast thou forsaken me? Before he died, he told his disciples and he even told the people that he would raise again from the dead. He did. I also believe that God cannot die. Just as Mary is the mother of the Man Jesus Christ and NOT the Mother of God - God does not have a mother. In that same thought, God cannot die, and neither The Angels. 4) Why would God act shocked that humans are going to sin even though he knew they would anyway? Even though God knew that Man would sin with and without help from The Enemy, he still felt the unpleasantness. 5) How could God be all-loving if he's going to send 75% or so of all mankind to hell? Answer: Yes, God is the one that decides. He is the one that will either Accept the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ for those that are saved or he will Not Accept the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ for their sins that are not saved. It is up to God. He knows Man better than Man knows himself. Also, God is Loving - but God is also Holy and Righteous. 6) Also, why would many of these people suffer to be born in a wrong country and/or a wrong time? Answer: Again, everything is in God's plan. In the capsule of time that God has set - every thing has its part to play. With everything that has and will occur God has a reason - and part of the reason is to be acknowledged by Angels both good and bad, and by the Adam race: saved and unsaved. This is a long answer for your questions, but hopefully you understand my answers.
The absolute worst place atheism could have found its headquarters is science. Because you have all of these brilliant minds now asking logical rational questions and they, not getting the answers to those questions only drives them further to go deeper and ultimately the only thing they are left with that actually makes sense is God. @kimb5245. So why is it that both the Oromo and the Daasanach people didn't find Jesus?? those people became aware of the existence of Jesus because missionary brought it to them. There are many organized missionary groups who have been traveling to different regions across the world to share the gospel. It isn't about claim without the evidence, many documented videos has been uploaded to the web from missionaries who as been visiting people in different geographical region/ remote area, encounter people that speak different languages to sharing with them the gospel, because they had never heard the name of jesus before or they might have little to no knowledge about the existence of the jesus. m going to share a short link to this.
I agree with your comment! The way that he handled himself under Covid is despicable in my opinion. He is a scientist that sold himself out to Big Pharma and lied to the American public about so many things. I respected Collins until I saw how he handled covid. It became apparent from Fauci's emails that he and Fauci were not exactly forthcoming about the pandemic.
this is what i thought, i'm sorry, that guy has a lot to answer for...i dont care about his conversion, here in the the UK we have had Iranians "convert" and go on to try and murder an ex-partner and her children, God knows the heart but this guy and his work with the dreadful Dr Fauci caused many deaths.
It's easy to make mistakes when one has insufficient information, but one must make important decisions based on the limited data one has. Fauci has been prominent in covering up, not sure about Collins. But being wrong about one thing doesn't make one wrong about others.
Thank you for this video. This is an area of Christianity I really struggle with because I’m naturally a curious person. It has answer quite a few of my questions. 😅
Love that!! It would also be helpful to bring those questions to God, the church, and other members of the faith so you’re not count up in incorrect doctrine or left feeling unanswered. God is happy to hear and answer our questions, bring your curiosity to Him and let Him show you more!
I've always also been very curious, and very much into science. Let me assure you, there is plenty of evidence to confidently place your faith in God. Not only that, but I would argue against some of the things this Dr. Collins has said, because there is building evidence for a young earth/universe, as per Genesis, rather than an ancient earth/universe which sounds like what Dr. Collins espouses, which would not only fly in the face of Genesis, but would really tear at the fabric of the theology of the Bible.

First cause argument/Unmoved mover/prime mover argument. And why it fails Syllogistically it goes - everything that exists is in motion - everything in motion is caused to be in motion by something else - something must have existed without a cause - we call this prime mover/ first cause/ unmoved mover God - Therefore God exists Firstly it an argument from special pleading - - It tries to say something must have existed without a cause Which is just special pleading. It violates it's own premise (premise 2) which says - Everything in motion is caused to be in motion by something else. It's also an equivocation fallacy - We have no way to confirm a beginning of the universe and it comes down to what definition of the word "universe" we're talking about. If we're using the colloquial definition of "universe" that being "everything that exists, has existed and will exist" then NO it is inaccurate to say the big bang was the beginning of the universe And here's why Because the understanding that there was a beginning (in the colloquial sense) is based on general relativity and we know general relativity is not right because it's not compatible with quantum mechanics, so we have a prediction that the universe "began" based of a theory we can't trust. Answers to Some Questions Individuals May Have 1) Why would God need blood sacrifices as an answer for sins which he already knew would happen?

Dr. Collins' presentation was excellent. A couple of things that intrigued me: I have not heard many cosmologists say that the universe came from nothing. They talk about different models; most say we still need to learn. Some believe the universe is past eternal and the Big Bang is just the beginning of a local universe. Hence, the claim that the universe came out of nothing understood as literal nothing, is on shaky grounds. For the same reason, we cannot say for sure what the cause was or why they supposed it was a God and not a natural phenomenon, as some cosmologists have argued. Collins just asserted this. Saying God is the first cause introduces some strange elements of the nature of this being, presumably conscious, with no physical structure, and with intentions and desires. God would have to massively improve our understanding of all to outweigh naturalistic explanations. For fine-tuning, we have heard of a math that proposes to show how unlikely it is for us to exist. One could argue that asking this is like asking; what are the odds of me winning the lottery? After winning the lottery. This could mean that chance might be a good explanation. But what if the possibilities are unreasonably small? Can the multiverse solve this? Do the people who postulate such an "unparsimonious" theory want to eliminate god from the picture at all costs from sinful or biased desires?. I must admit I do not know the background of the idea; I know that it is controversial among working cosmologists, but some say that the multiverse is something predicted by the theory that has been successful in explaining other phenomena, not imposed or built onto the theory; if this is right, then the multiverse is a reasonable postulate. But again, I have to claim ignorance on this. Then, there is the possibility of life being more adaptable to a wide range of different constants than we think of; we still need to understand how life on Earth began in the first place.

First cause argument/Unmoved mover/prime mover argument. And why it fails Syllogistically it goes - everything that exists is in motion - everything in motion is caused to be in motion by something else - something must have existed without a cause - we call this prime mover/ first cause/ unmoved mover God - Therefore God exists Firstly it's an argument from special pleading - - It tries to say something must have existed without a cause Which is just special pleading. It violates it's own premise (premise 2) which says - Everything in motion is caused to be in motion by something else. It's also an equivocation fallacy - We have no way to confirm a beginning of the universe and it comes down to what definition of the word "universe" we're talking about. If we're using the scientific definition that being "all matter, space and time" then YES it's accurate to say the universe began at the big bang, but.... @@CMVMicWhat, to you, would show evidence there is a creator? I don't think ive ever seen anything that is operational that just popped out of nowhere......can you provide an example?
@CMVMic Order and design don't suggest an orderer or a designer? Really? An orderer/designer is the only thing order and design CAN suggest. Maybe you're not clear on what the word 'design' means. It is not a synonym for accident or chance. Design by definition is impossible without a designer. Your t-shirts were not created by a tornado in a cotton field and Mt Rushmore was not formed by wind or water.

I trust Francis Collins is a genuine Christian. But I have to admit I lost a lot of respect for him after how he handled the pandemic as Anthony Fauci's boss. Anyone can google to see how Collins handled things if they don't already know. But I make another point. Sometimes even sincere Christians can intentionally or unintentionally behave worse than they should. We all still struggle with sin after all. It's just that Christians serving at the highest echelons of power have their sins witnessed by a lot more people and also what they do affects a lot more people than a nobody Christian like me where only the people I know are aware of my sins or weaknesses or deficiencies or failings and the effects of my sins are more limited, though they're still sinful of course. Nevertheless that's partly why the Bible says in James 3:1: "Not many of you should become teachers [or similarly high positions], my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness."
Not sure what he did to mishandle the pandemic? Maybe I missed it? I do think President Trump mishandled it by ignoring the pandemic for more than a month after he was told to take it serious!
Exactly. He knowingly censored data and contrary opinions to mainstream C0v1D measures, and was essentially Fauci's lapdog. Christian or not, he needs to be held responsible.
@@unclejessiesrodshop8432 I completely agree. Christian or not, he needs to answer for the part he played in not only the extremely poor government reaction to the pandemic, but potentially his role in creating it.
Collins doesn't find science and religion to be at odds because he carefully compartmentalises them in his mind. He switches from one mode of thinking to another, just as it suits him. Problem is, nothing in science actually demonstrates his god is real. Science is perfectly compatible with his god being a figment of his imagination.
I don't mean to be rude, but can you provide a single example of how one reliably evaluates such a thing? If you can do this, I will become a Christian on the spot. If you cannot I will continue not believing claims that can't be substantiated.
There have been plenty of scientific studies about if prayer works, but all are negative. Christians are exactly as often ill, die from cancer, have accidents, and so on just like everybody else. How does that fit into your worldview?

*Miracles and Apotheosis in the Ancient Mediterranean World*
*"It should first be noted that miracle stories are not uncommon in the literature of this period.* Ancient people believed in a world permeated by the supernatural and readily accepted stories of miracles and believed in stories of visions and visitors from the world of the divine all the time. *Even very sober and sometimes sceptical historians like Tacitus will pass on accounts of miracles that he clearly accepts and expects his audience to believe as historical.*
So when we read stories of how the emperor Augustus was *miraculously conceived by the god Apollo,* or how his birth was *presaged by a new star in the heavens,* or how Julius Caesar was seen *ascending into the heaven* after his death or how Vespasian *healed lame and blind people* who asked him for a miracle, we accept that these stories represent the kinds of things ancient people genuinely believed about great men. Or we accept that they are at least told to indicate that the man in question was great. *What we don't do is accept that simply because people believed these stories they must mean that they really happened.*
And this is even when the stories are presented to us by a very careful historian and given to us as verified fact. Take Tacitus' account of the miracles of the emperor Vespasian:
"In the months during which Vespasian was waiting at Alexandria for the periodical return of the summer gales and settled weather at sea, many wonders occurred which seemed to point him out as the object of the favour of heaven and of the partiality of the Gods. Persons actually present attest both facts, even now when nothing is to be gained by falsehood."* (Histories, IV, 81)
Tacitus was closely connected to the court of Vespasian's sons and successors, Titus and Domitian, and so in a position to know the "persons actually present" and to consult them long after Vespasian's death "when nothing is to be gained by falsehood".
At that he took fright."* Others are afraid to enter the tomb, but Chaereas goes in and finds his wife's *body missing* and concludes she has been *taken up by the gods."*

*This website is designed to spread the vicious truth about the Bible.
In total God kills 371,186 people directly and orders another 1,862,265 people murdered
The God of the Bible also allows slavery, including selling your own daughter as a sex slave (Exodus 21:1-11), child abuse (Judges 11:29-40 & Isaiah 13:16), and bashing babies against rocks (Hosea 13:16 & Psalms 137:9). ***This type of criminal behavior should shock any moral person.***
***Murder, rape, pillage, plunder, slavery, and child abuse can not be justified by saying that some god says it’s OK.*** If more people would actually sit down and read the Bible there would be a lot more atheists like myself. *I don’t know why anyone would follow the teachings of someone who literally tells all men to cut off their privates.*
The God of the Bible also was a big fan of ritual human sacrifice and animal sacrifice.

I don't like the word "surrender" since it implies giving up who we are.

Lewis "mere christianity"" was a good start where he talks about the innate moral values we have that evolution can not explain. What I found is that you have to open yourself to it.

@@jerrylong6238 with a little search on youtube, you can gather all the free information you could hope for, you just have to ask the right questions, and follow truth and discernment! 🙏🧐
@@jerrylong6238 Answers to Some Questions Individuals May Have
1) Why would God need blood sacrifices as an answer for sins which he already knew would happen?
Jesus Christ sacrificed himself 'ALONE' on that cross - and therefore he cried out Psalm 22:1 "My God, My God Why hast Thou Forsaken Me?"
The Angels nor the Prophets understood what was taking place on that cross.
The brilliance of God is amazing and comical in this regard.

There are many organized missionary groups who have been traveling to different regions across the world to share the gospel. First cause argument/Unmoved mover/prime mover argument.
And why it fails
Syllogistically it goes
- everything that exists is in motion
- everything in motion is caused to be in motion by something else
- something must have existed without a cause
- we call this prime mover/ first cause/ unmoved mover God
- Therefore God exists
Firstly it an argument from special pleading -
- It tries to say something must have existed without a cause
Which is just special pleading.
It violates it's own premise (premise 2) which says
- Everything in motion is caused to be in motion by something else.
It's also an equivocation fallacy -
We have no way to confirm a beginning of the universe and it comes down to what definition of the word "universe" we're talking about.
If we're using the scientific definition that being "all matter, space and time" then YES it's accurate to say the universe began at the big bang, but....
If we're using the colloquial definition of "universe" that being "everything that exists, has existed and will exist" then NO it is inaccurate to say the big bang was the beginning of the universe
And here's why
Because the understanding that there was a beginning (in the colloquial sense) is based on general relativity and we know general relativity is not right because it's not compatible with quantum mechanics, so we have a prediction that the universe "began" based of a theory we can't trust.
So we also have a false premise.
No we can't celebrate hannukah.

Answers to Some Questions Individuals May Have
1) Why would God need blood sacrifices as an answer for sins which he already knew would happen?
Jesus Christ sacrificed himself 'ALONE' on that cross - and therefore he cried out Psalm 22:1 "My God, My God Why hast Thou Forsaken Me?"
The Angels nor the Prophets understood what was taking place on that cross.

No; we overcome Satan by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony (Revelation 12:11)... but regarding this particular video, please don't be fooled by Dr. Collins; his research using fetal parts and his hypocritical defense of doing so, is clearly anything but Christian. "You will know them by their fruits"- Matthew 7:16
Dr. Collins' presentation was excellent. A couple of things that intrigued me:
I have not heard many cosmologists say that the universe came from nothing.
Dont worry. Im watching ! Groundingly solid justification for the existence of a personal God. Thank you !

First cause argument/Unmoved mover/prime mover argument.
And why it fails
Syllogistically it goes
- everything that exists is in motion
- everything in motion is caused to be in motion by something else
- something must have existed without a cause
- we call this prime mover/ first cause/ unmoved mover God
- Therefore God exists
Firstly it's an argument from special pleading -
- It tries to say something must have existed without a cause
So we also have a false premise

Answers to Some Questions Individuals May Have
1) Why would God need blood sacrifices as an answer for sins which he already knew would happen?
Jesus Christ sacrificed himself 'ALONE' on that cross - and therefore he cried out Psalm 22:1 "My God, My God Why hast Thou Forsaken Me?"
The Angels nor the Prophets understood what was taking place on that cross.

He should be on trial with his life on the line.
I don't think he is a Christian at all. The stuff going on at the NIH under his watch was horrifying.
So much for science and religion being at odds. Thank you Francis. It could not be better presented.
Praise the LORD how He heals the broken hearted, the down and out to the upper most!!
