    I see too much confusion concerning this subject in this vocal community. So I tried my best to help to understand the fächer( German).
    After watching the whole video you’ll be able to classify accurately a singer. I promise💪🏾

    Adriana Caselotti is a trained Coloratura soprano , and sung the role of Gilda in Rigoletto a total of 3 times , subrette isn't necessary a voice type a subrette is a developing soprano who may not have comfort in their upper range thus singing subrette roles , subrette is more of a character than a voice type , Adrianna Caselotti s terrisuta is higher than a normal soprano ( sopranino/high soprano) similar to Minnie riperton , Syreeta wright , Sandi Patty , Francine Jones and Debelah Morgan

    You know what I always think? I always think I'm a contralto, until I found a good vocal teacher. He told me that I'm actually a soprano! Dang! And what makes me even more shock...I actually have 3 octaves and a fourth vocal range (G2-F6, to be exact) after properly training. 😱 But, I don't know which vocal range I am after watching this. I wouldnt use some of the examples used here. Doesnt show what the voice type really is.. like for the Dramatic soprano.. showing La Nilsson singing Vissi D'arte, which is more of a full lyric soprano aria. It would be very much better if it is 'In Questa Reggia' from Puccini's Turandot or 'Hojohoto' from Wagner's Die Walküre, Dramatic and Wagnerian soprano arias correspondingly.
      And also Whitney is actually a Mezzo-soprano.

    • @lissandrafreljord7913
      @lissandrafreljord7913 7 місяців тому

      Wagnerian is a specific type of dramatic soprano who trains to sing the operas of Wagner, which generally use heavier orchestration, and are notoriously long, like 4 hours or more. Therefore, training one's lung capacity to last the long hours of heavy singing, long lines of singing, and producing the volume output to not be drowned by the orchestra, is crucial to sing Wagner. Usually, very metallic dramatic voices shine in Wagner like Kirsten Flagstad, Birgit Nilsson, or even Astrid Varnay, despite her voice was not as stainless steel clear as the former two, she had a much darker and cavernous sound.

    I want to learn opera or at least I think my voice is on the thin side but even so I believe my lows are decent they're not airy. My upper is connected head voice not falsetto in fact I find it hard to use falsetto as Im not really breathy. I have super head voice up to C7 but I heard some E7s but I can't do E7 on command just up to C7 I don't have any training either so I'm not sure how to extend it up to E7. I do some practice on my own I mostly focus on my lower range chest voice as I've read it benefits your overall range and also your head voice. I recently started practicing with hissing and I see improvements with my notes I hear them better now I added tongue trill instead of lip trill bcs I hold it for longer than lip trills? I'm not sure which is better for this case I mostly see people do lip trill instead? Either way ever since I started doing hisses I hear improvements.
    Now for weakness I don't know how to belt like I can do F4 and G4 but after that it's just bleh I'm supposed to pull up chest but I'm not sure how I overthink and end up failing if I think too much I don't hit the notes well I noticed this for me. I also don't know how to use vibrato I may have it I'm not sure but I don't know to use it on command I also most likely can't resonate I don't know how to notice if I can even resonate or not. I don't know how to whistle but I'm not interested in learning either. I dont use falsetto. My mix is also really heady early on I'm just afraid of using too much chest I guess 😅
    The reason I can't belt is why I pick opera bcs I can already use head voice pretty high and in opera they don't belt so I wouldn't need to learn how to belt. What I know from early on can be benefit me so there's less things to learn?
    This is super long if anyone bothers to read this whole thing thank you ❤

    Nice video, but fachs aren't used on light music. It's enough to know your vocal type and that, how high and low you can sing, but don't have to care were you a light-lyric, dramatic, coloratura, wagnerian. I don't know why did you put clips about pop singers, maybe they have a classical music vocal training, but they still sings light music, so then you don't have to use them.

    • @reiskariimi
      @reiskariimi Рік тому

      Because fachs defines roles in opera because opera isn't just singing, it's also acting and based on the scenes and the characters in them, the characters are supposed to look and sound like a certain. And light music means pop, jazz, blues... contemporary music genres. Although singer could have a classical music vocal training, but sings pop, then classical and pop cannot still be combined each other.

      @@majahandlovu8115 Audra McDonald has a way darker voice than Celine and Whitney lol. She also has trouble hitting belts past C5. And head notes past G5. She is a soprano but a big-voiced one (at least after having kids). Julie Andrews was a high lyric coloratura soprano, trained as one too. Very very bright voice. Leontyne was classified by her coach as a big-voiced lyric soprano. And she had some issues with her technique too. Harolyn was an UNDERDEVELOPED high lyric soprano. No chest voice. And no, sopranos don’t have bright voices necessarily. It is only bright as relative to mezzos. But the voice itself might be dark. Vivian Reed, dramatic soprano = dark voice. Linda Hopkins = soprano, dark voice.

Cissy used very little vocal weight. Someone's voice 'echoing more' doesn't mean much as it will depend on a) the acoustics of the room b) the microphone c) the technique used.
