I'm a somewhat new catan player who found themselves battling in ~1700 this past season. I assure everyone that the behavior exhibited in this match is quite the norm at this ELO. Turns out even Catan has ELO hell. It's oddly comforting to see even Dandy has to deal with it.
Yeah, unfortunately this is something that you will see at these competitive levels. Though at the end of the day, you have to trust these players won’t progress with that kind of attitude
I'm going nuts watching black talk to you at around 11:20. This dude is really complaining that you prevented him from winning in the last game by blocking and robbing him (since he was winning). THAT's THE POINT OF EVERY GAME! To prevent your opponents from winning and try to win yourself! 😆What is wrong with people.
Part of my interpretation of this situation is that black saw that Drew is a very capable player, partly through his ability to predict who has a chance to win and blocking and stealing to help prevent that. Black also observed, apparently, that drew was making some smart deals with players on the board giving him another advantage. It's a bit of a turnaround against the strategy to block the person who might have an immediate win, just to block the person who plays a really good long game over blocking less-capable players who might be in a good position at the moment
Are there any good guides for robbing/blocking? I notice dandy seems to always know the “best” block for every player and would like to know more about that decision making
I just wanna say that catan clickbait thumbnails with impossible end game setups are on a totally different level! No hate! I love it and love that its the small community of us that would actually get it and click on it!
What's considered a good ELO in Catan? I've played a ton on Colonist but never really gotten into the ranked stuff. Planning on doing it this season just for kicks. Looking for a good goal to reach, any idea's?
Aim for 1.8k. Id consider this as "sb who rly knows what hes doing" or 1.75k. At least this was the mark for me when i felt like the game quality just improved a ton. You will see a lot of emotional players like black while grinding, dont give up!

What can i do to improve? right now the only thing i can think off is better tracking. What should i do?
