    I play it like warband.
Build a character, keep around 10 recruits (as bodyguards) and level them up as you go, go from tournament to tournament to make cash and focus on combat stats (and attack bandits on the road).
After 6 or 7 tournaments; buy decent gear, join a faction, focus on social stats👍

If anyone new reads this comment
A couple of things about tournaments the weapons seem to be based on the culture of the town. Empire ones are normally swords and bows.
The Asriel odds are you are going to have a round mounted with a spear. (Personally I find these the hardest ones to win)
Also none of the damage you receive in a tournament is keepted outside of the tournament.
If you make the game run the tournament even if you are not wanting to fight your combat companions in your party will enter and if they win you get the loot.
Oh and until you get better gear/ more hit points most low level enemies are going to be able to knock you out in a couple of hits.

A suggestion that is far from new and serves as support for any "build" is to participate in combat in the arena repeatedly at the beginning of the game. I don't deny that this requires time, patience and fighting boredom (usually I always watch a video on UA-cam to distract myself), but it offers free money (depending on your performance and time dedicated), practical training in combat skills (no risk of getting hurt or "real" dying) and the passage of time is "stopped" while you are parked in the city (remember that your character is not immortal and time is essentially valuable).
I always dedicate a generous amount of time to this training because I can develop my character to a "satisfactory" level, which gives me the possibility of saving money, strengthening the protagonist as a warrior and prioritizing the development of skills early. It's a strategic way of investing in the character without concrete risks and it's usually at the beginning of the journey that we face the most critical challenges and limitations.
I also adopted this method in Warband. I'd rather spend weeks preparing my character than starting the adventure in an amateur and crude way.

I always thought that if you learning limit was 60 that is as high as that skill could go until you invested more focus or attribute points into it but it seems like you are saying that you can take it past your learning limit but progress becomes extremely slow, is that right?

Quick question: When you were talking about commanding your troops, you said that “Charge” just makes everyone pull out their swords and run forward, whereas “Engage” makes the units use their specialized weapons. But when you were talking about the horse archers, you said to put them on “Charge” and let them do their own thing. Did you mean “Engage”, or does “Charge” work differently for the horse archers?
By the way, thanks a ton for this guide! It was super helpful, and you can tell you put an immense amount of effort in it. I’ll probably be going through it again later.

I love how he starts out by saying in some of his videos, that you need to try to make it harder on yourself by not getting the best of the best units. I can’t tell you how many of these banner lord UA-camrs just use the best units and try to us how to play the game. One time I ask a UA-camr that was live “why do you use the best units of khuzait when you’re vlandian” he was like “that’s how you play the game”. I was like well when you just sim every battle also if you do play the battle you have khuzait khans and battain fians it’s pretty easy buddy, he then banned me lol.

old stalker... heard they have another 'official release' same question(s) as last time(s):
    is it finished yet?
    is it ballanced?
are the cutsceans we know to be there there yet?
do stats work? can you actually level them up (one 'offical release' had athletics so you couldnt gain xp in it)
is it finalized? to the point where modders who have been waiting for the "final final offical offical final version" to release and turn the amazing vanilla into (insert fantasy/historical fiction focus here) obsession?

      Touch pad opens encyclopedia.
      Square to kick
R1 changes a javalin or throwing axe to melee
L1 speeds up switches from paused to fast speed on the map or double click X
      where you want to go
Play the game to learn more but those are the most useful

I know it is not the main point of the video even but I really liked what you said about Role Playing this game. I kinda was already doing it but you put it in such a nice way I had to comment. I get bored quickly when I choose to play games usually but role playing is definitely something which adds spice to it. You have a goal and it will always be a different playthrough.

An update: first day and I’m pretty ok with early game. Ofc I got captured a few times, but on the whole I’m just about ready to go realistic for early game. Haven’t touched mid/late game yet. Saved the kids, recruited my brother all before the first frost. Actually winning tourneys really helps… Almost feels like cheating tbh.

The ONLY complaint about this game is that you can't go in blind or you will absolutely be lost, overwhelmed, and you'll quit playing. If you find someone like yourself who can explain this game in detail, give tips etc. This game immediately becomes a masterpiece. And I cant thank you enough for the content. That being said. If the game explained things like you do, this would definitely be one of the best PC games out there. Final rating on this game? 8.1/10.

    • @ave0828
      @ave0828 11 місяців тому

@ReadySetMoses Only that low just because the game is so hard to figure out at first, and it takes a lot of patience to get going. But when you figure it out, it becomes beyond addicting and you're blown away just by how good the game truly the game is.

I honestly believe empire is the best culture buff. In My play throughs there are always 2 random cities that rebels. With empire you can as clan lvl 2 have a castle you take solo and No kingdom will ever attack u. In that way in a playthrough i have epicotea from empire, sargot in vlandia, tyal in sturgia all under my command and making BIIIG money because empire bonus to less garnison wages. Im giga rich and got 4 armies full of top tier soldiers and still making 4-6k dinars per day from setllements

I never played Warband with mixed armies. I roleplayed the shit out of it. When I found Viking Conquest I was hooked. If I play Norse, I stick to Norse. My current char is at day 900 and I’m still an infamous raider who mostly becomes mercenary for whatever Irish faction.
I didn’t play Bannerlord so far but I’m thinking of buying it tonight. However, Bretwalda is still in development so that sucks. When they release, oh boy…
