I am absolutely ecstatic that I found this game today. Back when I was a kid and Sierra was making games, they produced a AAA title in 1996 called Lords of Magic. It was almost exactly like this (albeit limited by available technology) and for YEARS I have been trying to find a game in the same vein. I must have played through LOM hundreds of times. Quick question: When you were talking about commanding your troops, you said that “Charge” just makes everyone pull out their swords and run forward, whereas “Engage” makes the units use their specialized weapons. But when you were talking about the horse archers, you said to put them on “Charge” and let them do their own thing. Did you mean “Engage”, or does “Charge” work differently for the horse archers? By the way, thanks a ton for this guide! It was super helpful, and you can tell you put an immense amount of effort in it. I’ll probably be going through it again later.
@@italianspartacus Ohhh gotcha! So they’re like one of the only good ones for charge then. Man I’m really excited to use them now (just got the game). Thanks for the reply!
One thing I could add about the battlefield, engage and charge is holding formations during movement. You can put your cav in a chevron, but charging they become individuals and act independently. Engage will keep them together in the flying V until impact.
@@coltonbechtold484 I use engage way more than charge. Charge would be if you want a big morale shock in the back of archers, for example. Or if the enemy is fleeing, all charge as there’s no chance they’ll fight back. If formation is important, engage is the better.
First time playing mount and blade, coming from crusader kings 3 and looking for a good strategy to sink some time in. Heard good things about this and looking forward to playing a bit tonight. Wanna at least have some idea what I’m doing before getting started. Overall, just gonna take my time and start small. I’ll let you all know how it goes!
An update: first day and I’m pretty ok with early game. Ofc I got captured a few times, but on the whole I’m just about ready to go realistic for early game. Haven’t touched mid/late game yet. Saved the kids, recruited my brother all before the first frost. Actually winning tourneys really helps… Almost feels like cheating tbh.
I discovered warband on the ps4 and fell in love despite the the graphics being outdated for the time , when I heard bannerlord was gonna come out but on pc only that pushed me to get my first gaming pc So basically thanks to bannerlord and total war Warhammer series I had to break the piggy
I mostly came to this video looking for help on how to build my army as fast as humanly possible. Everyone is at war right now, will not everyone. But the kingdom I aligned myself with is it war with two different people. And there are armies marching everywhere. I keep getting tracked down and approached for combat. They outnumbered me by lots and I either have to run away from the fight which gets a lot of my men killed, or try and fight which will get them all killed, or surrender which strips me down to nothing
old stalker... heard they have another 'official release' same question(s) as last time(s): is it finished yet? is it ballanced? are the cutsceans we know to be there there yet? do stats work? can you actually level them up (one 'offical release' had athletics so you couldnt gain xp in it) is it finalized? to the point where modders who have been waiting for the "final final offical offical final version" to release and turn the amazing vanilla into (insert fantasy/historical fiction focus here) obsession?
Currently playing this on Xbox and it’s very difficult if u don’t know what your doing always struggle to get money and not getting captured in battle with bandits
This game has a steep learning curvr if you need help with combat go to a city, go to arena, then practice fight. This will give you alot of free practice will some denars as a reward
Just got this game. I was decent at mount and blade warband. So I figured I’d give this a go. Looks a lot better than warband but also has some familiar aspects to it.
That learning rate/limit whatever is super confusing lol I'm gonna have to rewind that part. I got this game some weeks ago but barely played been really busy but I absolutely love games like this and what I have played I like it alot. But it all seems pretty straight foward with all the videos I've seen expect that part
See this is where I am confused. So learning limit isn’t a hard cap for skills it just effects your learning speed? I always thought that if you learning limit was 60 that is as high as that skill could go until you invested more focus or attribute points into it but it seems like you are saying that you can take it past your learning limit but progress becomes extremely slow, is that right?
Imagine a kind of movie creater mode like in GTA V! You know, so that way we could record gameplay, then, in post production, edit camera angles, add cinematic filters and shades with sound effects and stuff!
they are going to add one... well at least they showed it off like 5 years ago. but because it's TW it's taking a decade to release such a simple thing
We would love a completes buttons guide & breakdown for ps5/consoles please for all the different scenarios like the main map the battles the hand to hand combat & how to completely read understand & use the skull trees & menu's in the game & also maybe abit on the political side f the game I know it's asking alot but I'm sure the views & beginners would appreciate it I certainly would!

Oh shit sorry I don't think I clarified. Horse archers are the ONLY use I have "charge" 9/10 times. Thanks so much for watching brother :)
Thank you for this, I started playing yesterday on console, and I'm only about an hour in, but I noticed they didn't maintain formation on charge
@@CucumberLlamas you’re very welcome! It’s little things like that that once you pick up, the game opens up better. Much like Mr. Spartacus said!
with shieldwall theyll still have shields up and for example cavalry charges dont natter anyways
So is engage just overall better then charge?
@@coltonbechtold484 I use engage way more than charge. Charge would be if you want a big morale shock in the back of archers, for example. Or if the enemy is fleeing, all charge as there’s no chance they’ll fight back. If formation is important, engage is the better.
just bought it this morning, time to start my world domination playthrough haha
Bro i gotta choose between CK3 or mount blade… which one you liking more so far?
Great video bro
Such a good guide. Thank you!
Very useful tips! Thanks for this cool video
I discovered warband on the ps4 and fell in love despite the the graphics being outdated for the time , when I heard bannerlord was gonna come out but on pc only that pushed me to get my first gaming pc
So basically thanks to bannerlord and total war Warhammer series I had to break the piggy
Good job my friend, traits effect charm checks with others
"treat addiction" you earned yourself a sub sir
Just got the game on sale for £27 and am loving it.
So glad to see this out of Early access
I mostly came to this video looking for help on how to build my army as fast as humanly possible. Everyone is at war right now, will not everyone. But the kingdom I aligned myself with is it war with two different people. And there are armies marching everywhere. I keep getting tracked down and approached for combat. They outnumbered me by lots and I either have to run away from the fight which gets a lot of my men killed, or try and fight which will get them all killed, or surrender which strips me down to nothing
The charge and engage was such a helpful tip
I'm yet to get an XBOX series console but this Game will be the reason why I move quicker to getting one. 🤘🏼
Thank you for the great video. Just got the game on console 👍🏻👍🏻
old stalker... heard they have another 'official release' same question(s) as last time(s):
is it finished yet?
is it ballanced?
are the cutsceans we know to be there there yet?
do stats work? can you actually level them up (one 'offical release' had athletics so you couldnt gain xp in it)
is it finalized? to the point where modders who have been waiting for the "final final offical offical final version" to release and turn the amazing vanilla into (insert fantasy/historical fiction focus here) obsession?
Wish i saw this before, it actually helps a lot. GOod guide bro
great video and narration!
Ty I've literally just been making my units walk forward instead of charging

The Dawgs brought me Here! May Fortuna, Guide your Crusades! 🙏🏽
Thank you very much for this very informative guide!
Very helpful and detailed guide thanks
I’ve actually JUST started playing this game and I CAN NOT PUT IT DOWN IT’S SO ADDICTING 😂
What a fantastic video. This will help me greatly! The effort put into this video is awesome.
Liked and subbed 🤟🏼
We would love a completes buttons guide & breakdown for ps5/consoles please for all the different scenarios like the main map the battles the hand to hand combat & how to completely read understand & use the skull trees & menu's in the game & also maybe abit on the political side f the game I know it's asking alot but I'm sure the views & beginners would appreciate it I certainly would!
Touch pad opens encyclopedia.
Square to kick
R1 changes a javalin or throwing axe to melee
L1 speeds up switches from paused to fast speed on the map or double click X
where you want to go
Play the game to learn more but those are the most useful
@@ckie-nk3de thanks man
Damn this was really helpful. Keep it up!
Lots of great info thx
Glad it was helpful!
That is where the companions have been hiding. I've been playing the game recently and I haven't found any yet
