In order to easily, and quickly, increase your 'Charm' skill, stop and talk with every noble you come across and enter into a barter with them ("I have a proposal that may benefit us both.") Then just exchange the exact same amount of gold. The game counts it as a successful barter and you'll level up your charm quickly.
@@Humanhead86 Glad it could help! Found it and thought, "Hey, i haven't seen this on any of these lists!" Even if you just exchange 1 Denar, it still counts towards the stat.
You can gift them something small and it will also make your relationship better with them. I've literally given them a splintered shield and they've been grateful
Tip #1. DONT choose a faction. Stay factionless, (unlike what he did) and complete the main story line, mainly find the ten nobles aka the rule and specific vassals. You can find them by going to the encyclopedia, putting in the name of the noble you looking for, and it will tell you where that noble was last spotted. You can then click that settlement, and click the circle to set a waypoint to that settlement. Keep following the noble from settlement to settlement until you finally find the noble in question. Once you complete the quest, you will have 4 choices. Form you're own faction, or join faction already in existence. The two other options is to do the previous two options as either a empire faction, or a non-empire faction. By not choosing a faction you dont need to impress the lords in order to get influence to get them to give you a castle, you can simply conquer everyone. I'm also pretty sure this is the easiest way to become a king over all. Tip #2) NEVER sell the most horses you get, or atleast like I did all the basic horses. They increase your weight limit and allow you to carry more. The added advantage of this is that you travel faster because I believe the speed is based on a percentage of how much your carrying vs your max weight. Tip #3) there is a arrow on the bottom right hand corner of the screen. It will say expand/collapse map bar when you hover over it. But if you click it, it will increase the amount of information you get, such as how fast you go (if you hover of that it will show the factors to that calculation), how far you line of sight is, and most importantly troop wages, which leads me into the next tip. Tip #4) DONT upgrade every troop just because they can level up. The higher the level up the more you have to pay them daily. They can very quickly deplete your money to zero as UE found out, and Instead have a few elites, and fill your ranks with peasants. Peasants are FREE. They are you slave labor and the only cost is to feed them. And alot of times you will just pick up the unit up as a reward from fight. You can also convert bandits free to become troops you can command (one of your stats will also fill up for commanding bandits), and if you dont wish to pay their wages you can always discard them after the battle. Lastly get companions. They are absolutely wage-free, after the initial lump sum you pay to recruit them. Thier cost comes from the gear you outfit the with. In order to do so, go to the inventory screen, where you would equip your own character, and hit the arrow to the left or right of your name. This will cycle through your companions. Tip #4) each companion specializes in something. Some combat, other healing. You can go to the encyclopedia, go to the heroes section, and search for wanderers to find out the heroes stats before you recruit them, and where to find them. Find yourself a healer and put them as the surgeon role in your clan menu tab. This should allow your troops to heal faster after battles. The other roles are engineer, quarter master and scout, with a corresponding stat on the character sheet that will effect how effective that role is. You can click the + sign on the description of the stat to find out the bonuses that each stat offers and which one adds a personal bonus or a role bonus. Last tip, but most important. If you dont like to move your camera during combat to change the direction of your attack or which way you block, you can go to settings and under the gameplay menu, change from mouse direction, to movement direction. This way you can use the WSAD to dictate which way your blade will strike, or which way you will block. Edit: I should add the benefit of this and why it is most important, is because you can keep you cursor on the opponent rather than missing because you had to move your mouse and the camera.
@jocaguz18 there was a storyline in warband too though... this time it is to destroy or save the empire. To you either serve a lord or become the lord to destroy it or unite it. It reminds me heavily of the sword in the stone, but instead it is a banner, hence the name bannerlord.
@jocaguz18 did you not play through the viking conquest storyline? You should it is really good. Cant really remember the base version very well though.
@jocaguz18 "Viking Conquest is a DLC for both singleplayer and multiplayer. It is developed by TaleWorlds Entertainment and Brytenwalda team which is famous for their eponymous mod." Even if it was developed by just a modder, it was was published as official DLC for the game by taleworlds entertainment. Meaning that the project can then be considered as an official version of the game that they outsourced to another company or persons. Outsourcing of work is actually common in any type of creation, but you think it shouldn't somehow count? Either way you're wrong.
You can see now that you're not alone my friend.. I I thought they were passive.. Didn't have a clue that you were supposed to pick one or another... =/
Tip: dont use charge with archers, they will melee the enemy use advance. They will keep de maximum distance and shot the enemy to hell... they will go to de best position facing the enemy keep the distance so infrantr cant get them
@@Fritttsky Or if you use F6 (sergeants take charge) your units will control themselves individually using the same tactics the enemy AI uses (in the appropriate situations)
I just found out 2 other tips. 1. Double tap W when on a horse to go straight into a gallop and double tap S (but you have to hold S after that to quickly stop you mount 2. with archers selected press F1 then F4 this puts archer in skirmish mode and they will try to keep distance from the enemy. much better option than charge where they get into range and do not fall back
f1 then f4 is also recommended for your horse archers. those will most likely survive the fight and wille keep on poking the enemy. ive seen it happen alot that the enemy sends their cav after my horse archers wich then run away from them (often towards my army) only for me to charge their cav with my 50+ group of cavs. after this the horse archers will go back to harrassing the enemy
@@poabeaving No I just have a lot of troops and know how to herd the enemy. Once they start breaking in significant numbers there is no danger in charging them and finishing with melee.
Side tips for trading as well: 1. Selling and buying in small towns do not affect supply and demand price changes so usually selling in small towns on the way can guarantee higher profit than you would get in bigger cities. Works extremely well with smelted goods as prices usually fluctuate by 30-50 denars on each time you sell in a big city. 2. Keep a stash of smelted goods on you as they weigh 20x lighter than what you would carry with other tradeable items (0.5 weight compared to 10 weight for iron and iron ore). Also makes things a lot better when buying goods in small towns while extracting the 1k they usually have on them. 3. If you are peace-loving, talk to peasants in the early game as sometimes you can get their whole load for cheap which usually includes sumpter horses which would aid in increasing your load capacity. 4. Try not to keep livestock on you for too long as they consume your food as well. On the other hand, you can always slaughter the livestock in order to produce meat and sell for more in some towns. They have a weight modifier but it doesn't seem to work (they do slow down the speed of your party) 5. The best time to sell to a big city is when a city was recently under siege. The longer the siege, the better the prices as you could easily rack up a 150% higher than the normal price. E.g. Selling fine steel for 1160 each (lowest sell price was 218). 6. Buy and sell manufactured goods (e.g. jewelery, tools, pottery) if you are low on storage but if you have a high enough storage space, it is better to buy bulks of smaller goods as their prices won't change as much in bigger cities due to supply and demand. Goods that I find that are good to buy and sell mid-game would be wine (25 > 73), leather (86 > 249), fur (49 > 227), silver ore (96 > 345). Try not to buy and sell consumables unless you are buying by the hundreds. Don't forget that you can trade horses as well however the green and red text does not work on them just yet. Side notes: 1. Currently companions don't have smithing, engineering or stewardship modifiers by default. Also companions are randomly generated from my knowledge. 2. Currently there is a bug with creating parties that you can abuse with. When you create a party, it will automatically give that party troops. You then can extract all the troops from them and disband the party. Rinse and repeat and you'll have a full army very fast or something to help you populate a garrison quickly during a campaign. 3. Keeping too many prisoners on you will slow you down so drop them off when you can or sell them off unless you really want to recruit them. The higher tier they are, the longer it takes for you to recruit them (Not based on rng but rather time based). 4. Tiers of equipment and horses do not represent the best quality. Some goods that are cheaper may be better than those that of different quality. 5. Shields come in different sizes, although they might have similar stats. Kite shields are tiny.
Great tips! Just didn't quite understand tip 3. You mean, doing quests for the important people in the villages or going inside and talking to the common peasants can give me an opportunity to buy cheaper goods?
@@MadHashashin As in those peasants running around the map instead of caravans. Caravans usually are more expensive to trade with while those peasants usually sell everything at one go and sometimes you can get sumpter horses for 16-20 denars.
Also noticed in late game there tends to be inflation of prices especially when there are a lot of wars going on and trade caravans being plundered. Make sure you establish trade caravans with your companions on the other side of the map to avoid the wars and to be ganked on by larger forces. Try not to set up too many parties as well with your companions during wartime if you can unless they are following you because they will end up attacking trade caravans and reducing their unit count on just these caravans or even worse getting captured.
Also, Charm is absolutely amazing, as it's what's needed to convert enemy lords/ladies to your faction. Even saving my army from being wiped out. Simply talking to lords and proposing a trade that's beneficial etc. Trade for a horse/ whatever you find appealing. And it'll level your charm by 1-3 per trade. Eventually, between reputation, honor, and charm you can convert lords to your own faction. Idk about a major faction, and at level 225 you can then trade for fiefs. You can even propose peace, and reduce what's required for suing for peace, I.e what once took me 120K gold for peace only took my 89K at charm 40 something to charm 85. saving me money, and lost territory. Please don't overlook charm in the game.
1. When walking around city you can see there a thugs in various points you can figth with them and then figth with gang which can pretty easly give you reputation with merchants and other gang bosses, when you will have a good amount of reputation with one of the bosses you can figth his troops and gain reputation with bosses that dont like you, like that you can easly unlock all troops to recruit in cities 2. When looking for some elite troops like battanians archers you can select to track a city/village so you know dont need to search them in all of the faction 3. Easy way to qucik sell all the trash in your inventory is to "lock" (by clicking on the circle next to them) things that you need (horses, food) and just click "sell all" 4. (Not sure) If village which is close to city is producing grain then the profitable buissnes to buy is brewery which made beer from grain (oil from olives, smith for iron etc) 5. Always remeber to set your companions a role if you dont choose him to be a scout then he will not improve in scouting, quatermaster is for steward, surgeon for healing, engineer for engineering 6. When figth 1vs1 dont just attack/defend/attack/defend always circle aroung the enmy and bash them to face its easy win (dosent work for spears but you can wait with polearm ready to thrust and attack when they will try to attack you (its your reaction time test)) 7. When enemy archers are focusing on you and you are on horse click repeatedly a/d/a/d effectivness of thier aim will go down 8. If you in bad situation when enemy outnumebr you and you have a lot of archers wait with you archers on hill shoot them down and when they are close or your archers will run out of arrows just click to retreat you will not loose any troop (for me its cheaing tho) 9. If you are a attacker at the field of battle and you want enemy to charge you just shoot a couple of them down whey they are staying, enemy lord will send them charge 10. Mods are your best friend its can make game way more enjoyable and less grindy
Don't go too overboard with horses though or you'll start to get the 'herd' debuff. Ideally around 1 per horseless soldier + a small handful of mules or camels for added carry weight.
Pack animal: Scumpter horses, mules etc. They reduce speed by adding the herd modifier and the speed has nothing to do with cary weight. Its all horses to footman ratio.
Not completely true, you get a carry weight modifier as well, the close to being encumbered you are the higher the modifier - Its only a small modifier less then herd i think.
@@camdavis9362 dude this is a year old 🤣 got bored of this game a while ago, if i get back into it now and waste hundreds more hours on it i know who to blame 🤣
Excellent tips. I have a couple more to add. 1. The other parties your companions form can be integrated into your army for 0 influence and 0 cooldown. So you can run around with a 250 army for virtually no cost. It makes taking castles and the like much easier. 2. Buy donkey at every town you go to. You can buy them for 80 gold and sell them later on for 300 if youre lucky. Plus they increase your capacity. You can easily get up to 50'000 after a few hours. 3. To get more troops in your party you need steward levels. Easiest way to level it, is to buy diverse foods. Go to a city and buy 5-10 of each and carry it while farming looters for broken xp until its used up. 4. Looter cant kill your troops in autoresolve after a certain level. My party of 84 against 72 looters and noone died so it should be safe. (5) Buy a falx as a weapon for max enjoyment when storming a city. Without compare the most fun weapon Have fun boys :)
Some tips I have found: With regards to horses speeding up your party because the footman ride them out of battle, this is true, but there's also a speed debuff called "Herd" which comes from having sheep/pigs/cattle as well as having far too many horses, so always make sure you dont have way too many horses. When Playing a battle defensively (when you let the enemy charge towards you), rather than have your infantry charge when the enemy is close it's best to press F6 when the enemy is close and give command to the Sergeants. This is because when under the control of the Sergeants, the Infantry will move and fight while still in formation. Since the enemy will themselves fight in formation they can actually overwhelm your soldiers pretty easily if you just have them charge as your units will spread themselves too thin.
Yeah, I just took all the horses but never sold them after a while, I saw the herd debuff. I have like 700+ now lol. Each man gets like 7 horses. I am playing khuzait so it's not entirely historically inaccurate.
SilverRain It was worse in the early version when I made this post because horses were much more plentiful loot lmao, they actually have since nerfed the amount of horses you get as loot so I’ve never had it again haha
@@thejake1453 Yes, I read the patch notes so I saw that (only been playing mp recently so haven't seen how big the change is). I pretty much only got horses from loot. Since khuzaits are broken, I could take on 370+ armies with like 60 men so I was getting 30 horse stacks as loot. That's how I got so many. Good thing too, since I need lots of warhorses to fuel my slaughter machine.
SilverRain haha yeah the balance is still pretty broken! Do you play as horse archers then? What happens when you run out of ammo? I haven’t played Kuzaits yet, just Sturgians and Empire
7:25 The treshhold for the amount of horses for speed is the amount of troops you have, of you have more horses than troops, it will give you a speed debuff.
I got bored chasing down looters at one point and decided to go from town to town doing tournaments. A good combo of both strategies will probably feel less grindy
That create new party is a game changer - changes your perspective from a middle 1 party lord to a full force. I think this is the main use for companions as you'll be able to create your 1K death stacks (with further game development) to build and defend your own kingdom.
"Keeping a number of horses in your inventory may speed up your party considerably, since they'll increase your carrying capasity and footmen will ride spare horses. Pack horses and mules are only useful for carrying cargo though." This can be found in the pause menus "Game Tips" section :). So it is indeed correct and very helpful information. Also makes alot of sense.
In the bottom right corner of the screen is a little triangle. If you click it, the menu expands and shows more stats - including your movement speed. If you mouse-over the game shows you all the positive and negative effects
It's really important to know that ONLY pack horses (sumpter), mules and low price horses are pack and give a HUGE carry weight bonus. Very expensive war horses many times give you little to no cargo.
But if you have too many horses, you will get a speed penalty called “Herd”. I don’t know what the ratio is exactly, but in my game I have 75 men and I can have up to 85 horses without my speed being penalized with “Herd”.
It's always fun seeing people make "tips" and "tricks" videos or "guide" videos who has no idea what they're doing. Seen so many morons making youtube vids with clickbait videos of this game that just either gives you the most obvious thing to do ever, or just stupid things to do that really isnt the "best" way to go about things.
@@Wargsy except everything in this video is totally legit advice. As a player with more then 1000 hours in warband, i can tell he knows a bit about this franchise. There are lots of brand new players coming in fresh to bannerlords, since the previous entry is 10 years old. Might as well ride that wave.
@@Wargsy I've definitely seen videos like that for multiple games over time. I don't think this is really one of them. The advice here is fairly basic, but still not necessarily obvious for those starting fresh. Took me a while to catch on about auto-calc Looters, for example. And figuring out how strong the link is now between horse inventory and map speed (it was a minor contributing factor in Warband, but in Bannerlord it completely replaces the old Pathfinding skill as the single most important determinant). Even though I already knew almost everything in this video today (60+hrs played), I certainly DIDN'T know a lot of it last week even after 20-ish hours into the game. Assuming that's UEG's target audience, I think it's a pretty solid video.
Looters don't kill your soldiers cause they using blunt weapon, they will never kill anyone in auto-resolve. The easiest way to make passive income right now is to buy a wood workshop in Ortongard. This city will generate 5-10 thousands denars per day, just give it a weak or so. AND the easiest way to farm renown is to go solo against as many looters as possible (around 50-80 or so). Just shoot them with your bow and ride around, they never gonna catch you. Easy 5-10 renown per battle. Don't forget to bring 2 stack of arrows and long two handed weapon (like war axe).
Great video, here's a few things i have done to speed up my progress. in the beginning go to towns and go to the arena and see if theres a tourny. if there is back out and save then bet on yourself and enter the tourny. reset on loss and gain on wins. keep doing this till you have high level gear and sell the duplicates. gather as many party members as you can and level their smithing early and ride to towns that produce Hardwood or iron ore. buy hardwood at less than 30 and iron ore at less than 60. level up the double charcole perk on all companions when applicable. smelt like crazy for early game cash and late game OP weapons. tips, your party members can make their own parties and when they initially form they will get free troops out of thin air it seems. ALSO when you are part of a faction your party members can be called to your army for 0 influence. and army's can be reformed immediately after coheasion its zero so you can have a 300 or 450 cap army forever. if you want to disband them without loosing all troops go to a town talk to all of them take their troops throw them in the garrison then disband the army and from the overview window of the town you can tell all of them to join you again. I joineda loosing faction and had countless battles with 3 other factions to get 2mil game currency and over 2500 influence. army members refill their troops at towns EVEN LOOTED ONES that you cant personally recruit at.
Just picked up the game and a lot of tutorials show combat tips, movement tips, and stuff about keeping enough food. I was really glad to see someone discussing passive incomes for early game and caravanning. Thanks!
Astonishing amount of fantastic information in a short amount of time. This actually revived the game for me! I have watched every bit of content on UA-cam that I could get my hands on and nothing was even close to this helpful, and that includes some heavy hitters that make this sort of content. I couldn't be more grateful.
As someone who just started and has been doing dandy getting money from killing raiders, gauadring caravans, and assaulting enemy troops + the occasional tournaments. My jaw dropped when i saw the smelting of weapons. I could have made 3x more money had i known that.
Going around with just companions. Give them horses to keep the speed up and I don’t have to pay them a daily wage. Me and 4 companions are just roaming from town to town following the tournaments. Some of the prizes are crap and you get more for smelting down the weapons than you can from selling it. Every so often you get a great piece of armor that’s very useful or sells for a lot. Up 70k and haven’t even finish the first quest given. Tradings a little hit and miss.
Dont wait to long with main quest ( Yellow/gold scroll ) since some people fail the mission after some time (dunno, done the first of the main quests after 300+ ingame days) might be buggy.
This approach hopefully just got even better today; 1.0.6 patchnotes say they've added XP gain for combat in tournaments/arenas. About to start up the game and find out.
@@natsukimasamune7766 Oh yeah, been catching up 1H & Athletics like gangbusters the last couple hours. Lovin' it. And Practice Arena still crap rewards (got spoiled in Prophesy of Pendor) which is okay, but still worth going a few rounds for the XP, especially as new character.
Best video for starting players I've seen so far. I've watched 3 other beginner tips guides for this game, and I learned the most pertinent stuff from this video. I'm 15 hours in to my 1st botched play through and this video taught me tons. Thanks bro! Subscribed.
Thanks for this video. I already knew most of them, but all of the tips mentioned here are important and would help any new players very much. One think I could add is related to both the party tips and the last "delegating command" tip, where in order to get the max out of the actual F6 order, is to assign your in-party companions to their respective tiers. If you have a companion who is good at riding and using a bow, then put them into Tier IV, Ranged Cavalry and ect. That will help that group of units, as they will benefit from the related Riding and Bow skills that chosen companion has. Thanks again for the video, you have my subscription!
Definitely one of my favourite games of all time. As a history major it has great appeal, as I love this period of time even if this is only an interpretation of the era - it's still well done. This vid' is a must see for anyone new to the game, I certainly learned something and I've just cracked into faction level 2 and trying to work out how to pay for all my troops, and feed them. Definitely one of the more layered and complex real time strategy games out there!
yooo you should stream this game again soon! I bought the game because of your 2 livestreams! I love the content man keep it up and dont apologize for anything!
Another tip for combat in your party screen you can create your own groups I II II IV etc etc sometimes the game fucks up mixing the units up you don't want that. It's also to for example separate heavy front line troops vs the weaker flankers. Also never F3 charge your ranged units it will make them literally charge and get stuck into melee, use F4 (Advance) and they will move forward while actively shooting, even skirmish a bit. Or can just F6 them of course, but if you want to control them F4 is the way to go.
Just another tip: if you are training troops against bandits and such, put your maxed out troops in a different group so you can hold them back. By not having your maxed out troops along for the fight, they don’t steal kills and all the exp goes to the leveling troops.
With regards to tip #3, if you click the little up arrow on the far bottom right of the screen, it will bring up your movement speed stat. Hovering over it will give a breakdown of everything both speeding you up and slowing you down. And yes having extra horses in you inventory causes an effect called something to the effect of "infantry riding spare horses" which is a positive effect for movement. edit: Thank you for that last tip, I'm still very new to the game and the in-game commands are still a bit foreign to me. That seems like it will be a big help!
Another good tip is to head straight for the middle east and do those bring the gangleader some swords missions. You buy a bunch of one handed swords for around 100 gold each and the payment you get is usually over 5000
Dude THANK YOU so much for the influence tip. I have been grinding my teeth trying to get enough influence to vote on pretty much anything, this will speed up the process and makes using policies actually feasible.
What I learned after hours of gameplay. If, during war time, you hunt down enemy lords, battl and beat them. Not only do I’ll your renown grow, if you donate them your influence grows, your troops rank up and you make a fortune from selling loot and prisoners
So far that's the only thing I can't stand. Super boring when you have to refine wood to charcoal, wait around, smelt weapons, wait around, refine metals, wait around. Like sure it's realistic and I agree with it but damn I hate it.
Looters are mostly armed with blunt weapons. Blunt weapons mostly knock people out, so you won't see many losses through deaths. Consequently, using blunt weaponry gives you more captives at the end of the battle. I know, I'm late with this comment. Also, I noticed axes have an in-between compared to swords and maces. They can knock out as well as kill depending on luck. So for easy farming, use axe or blunt troops.
You can just hit F6 when you go in and it applies to everyone. He'll shout "Seargents, take command!" If he shouts "Follow my command" they were already acting autonomously, so hit F6 again. I've found the best way to utilize this is to have the companions you have with you on horses (and also have some horse calvary), give your seargents command, and then ride out with your horse units to draw agro from the enemy horse units. Those enemy units will mess up your infantry and archers, so kite them around and pick them off one by one. I use this against enemy generals with armies twice my size and rarely lose any troups.
12 hours in, I had literally no idea about the Encyclopedea. I think when the full release happens we will be getting some more 'do this to do this' stuff. Because man.. I had literally no idea about anything.
You have the arrow on your lower right corner. Clicking it opens up more of the tooltip there, hovering over the horsehead icon allows you to see what gives or doesnt give you speed. Prisoners slow you down, horses in your imventory allow your infantry troops to ride them to get extra speed. Doesnt seem to apply to animals like pack mules or the cheap a few tens of denars horses though. They give you a weight bonus of 100 omstead of 10 or so for regular horses.
However you will notice that after you have significantly more horses than troops that you get a Herd movement penalty. Bigger penalty the more livestock you have.
Hey just a tip to anyone who sees this, When smithing, always use the tab at the top that says "One Handed Sword". Change it to 2 handed sword and maximise the blade length. It will give you crazy good leveling (up to 7 levels gain at a time) and the swords will always sell for crazy amounts, from 6k at the start to about 30k as your smithing skill increases and you start using Fine Steel.
There IS a threshold for how many horses you have beginning to slow you down. You can check this by expanding your lower right menu and mousing over your speed. What your looking for is the “herd” rating. At a certain point more horses than men will start giving you speed penalties.
@@112523 no heard happens when you have more horses than men too. It's barely a factor but if say you have 200 more horses than men you'll notice a -.2 herd. Keep everything constant but sell 20 or so horses and it'll go from a .2 penalty to .18 penalty.
Bro! Tbh these tips are 🔥! Straight fire thank you alot of the info definitely will be put to good use I just started playing yesterday litterly on my Xbox and this stuff will help me on my sandbox playthrough I'm planning on doing thank you!
Fastest way to gather renown is to fill your party with khergit cavalry, pick a weak faction and defeat their lordships as you come across and release them afterwards, so that you have steady supplies of armies to farm. At some point they fall in love with you which helps them defect your kingdom once you decide to found it. I took my first castle at clan level 2 , and then bribed enemy lord getting his kingdom into peace with me. Works like a charm
It's purely criminal, the lack of coverage and media attention this game gets, while being so damn good. No other game quite does what this game does. Thank you.
Wow just the tutorial I was looking for this game is so in depth I was getting lost on what to do but this game is so fun I can literally spend hours playing this
There is literally a guy like you in every game. "Oh yeh... dark souls was too easy... i dunno what the big deal is... Yeh i dunno why ppl go on about hard-game... i made 50 times the top amount in 1/10th of the time" Ok buddy.
Holy sh1t that prisoner donate tip, thank you. Part of clan with -1 influence policy so I'm gaining influence at a trickle, definitely going to start exploiting this.
On tip # 6, you can also sell your goods to caravans without any decrease in selling prices after a certain amount being sold. As long as the price is close to the city's price you where going to sell them to, then the Caravan is a better option and as long as you spot a nearby caravan. Anyway, great tips overall, even though there will still be some changes made with upcoming patches and before the release of the real Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord game and not the early access pretender game. I never purchase nor play early access games, but that's just me. Lastly, unlike 99% of all players, my plans in my first playthrough will be to just marry any peasant girl (if possible, since I don't know if you can, since I'm not currently playing). The reason would be just to have children and heirs, once my original character dies, of old age most likely, because he will be doing all the hard work and laying the groundwork for his children's future prosperity. My campaign will span 4 to 5 generations, while developing a glorious, benevolent and prosperous Kingdom for the ages. That's the plan for my first playthrough, but is subject to change, depending on what the game offers and let's me do as a player. I can hardly wait for the official game to come out.
Try to upgrade your skills with lower levels as well, even if you think you don't need them. That is because you need attribute points and focus points to develop your preferred 0skills and to get AP and FP you have to level your character up; and since your character level "exp" is actually the sum of the levels of all your skills you get your APs and FPs faster the more you work on your skills with lower levels. And don't forget to set your clan role to scout or steward at the very beginning, you'll get skill levels just by roaming around. Change your main weapon type every once in a while and don't just keep riding that horse.
Agh you didn't address the ONE thing I haven't figured out in this game: What the frig does appointing companions to certain clan positions do? Like, seriously, if I make someone take the Scout or Quartermaster role, what happens? Their behavior never changes in the battle or overworld as far as I can tell.
It's a party affect, if you put a healer on surgeon he will level the skill and health boosts and affects from them will apply to your party, same with scouting, will help at overmap things, they have no in combat bonuses as far as i know.
I noticed that putting a companion (with poor steward and leadership skills) in my party as a quartermaster actually takes down the overall capacity of the army's party .... Not sure if working as intended (as 1.0.2 I believe)
@@nevarine1231 As far with my playthrough, if you are not designated on a role, you'll take up all of the roles not appointed (you'll slowly increase medicine as you patch up wounded, you'll up steward if you have food variety, all at the same time as you do them, etc.). So if your leadership/steward capability is better than the one you're trying to appoint as quartermaster, you'll see a drop in your party size and capabilities. If you appoint yourself as one of the roles, you'll focus on that one role and level up the associated skill relatively faster.
Fantastic video! After 2 or 3 hours of play, having never played the first one, I really had no idea what to do. I just hope the path of the actual goal, or end game scenario will reveal itself in a manner that isn't to convoluted or obscure.
Just to add to the companions tip, you can also find them through the encyclopedia. If you click 'heroes' then scroll down and tick the 'wanderers' occupation then all companions that you can recruit in the campaign will be displayed. Along with their skills. This is fantastic if you need to find a companion with a specific set of skills for a specific role. Such as a scout, a surgeon, quartermaster, etc. I just found out about this last night thanks to an article by PCGamer, super useful!
Tip 11: if you just captured a city and need to fill up it's garrison so it isn't defenseless. create and disband parties up to 3 at a time for 25 new troops, each party, every time you do it. this can be abused and give you way more varied and tougher units then just going to the local villages for recruits. after you disband the party, your AI party will head to your nearest settlement and dump it's troops into the garrison there while the party member goes to the pub to wait for you.
thanks for explaining the leveling system loving a lot of this game but they made that so needlessly complicated and slow but knowing that putting more points into specific systems does level it up faster
Use that arrow in the bottom right corner, you can see your speed and if you hover over it you can see factors affecting it, if you have too many horses and mules you get a "herd" negative so you have to sell some horses to get rid of it
Very informative, even as an ABSOLUTE veteran of the older games, and quite deep into my Bannerlord campaign, I still learned quite a bit. :) Will subscribe! Bring me moar Bannerlord!! :D
mate brilliant. I started playing this game two days ago, and learned so much from you :). I think I will restart the game and see if I can get a better start.
7:23 The little arrow bottom right brings up the speed, view distance, and party wage. having more horses actually slows you down due to the “herd” debuff. You was the have the max horses you can until right before the herd debuff activates. (Infantry troops ride those extra horses when traveling) I have a 100 some size force (almost all horses) and am running at 6 speed (faster than anything else in the game basically) on realism difficulty l.
A bit late, but for combat, I sometimes go for enemies slightly larger than mine then to a ton of "hit and run" tactic where I have my infantry withdraw then have my cavalry (20 melee and 40 ranged) running around the enemy in circles and withdraw when we run out of arrows - rinse and repeat until I'm confident enough to take 'em all. Also, Stewardship is an important skill if you want to have a larger party.
In order to easily, and quickly, increase your 'Charm' skill, stop and talk with every noble you come across and enter into a barter with them ("I have a proposal that may benefit us both.")
Then just exchange the exact same amount of gold. The game counts it as a successful barter and you'll level up your charm quickly.
👍👍👍
this is a great tip!
@@Humanhead86 Glad it could help! Found it and thought, "Hey, i haven't seen this on any of these lists!"
Even if you just exchange 1 Denar, it still counts towards the stat.
I figured out this one on my own, I was like sweet I should tell people
You can gift them something small and it will also make your relationship better with them.
Exactly!
@jocaguz18 you consider dlc for a game, not part of that game? Ok well fine but atleast there was a story, so it's not something new they've done.
@jocaguz18 "Viking Conquest is a DLC for both singleplayer and multiplayer. It is developed by TaleWorlds Entertainment and Brytenwalda team which is famous for their eponymous mod."
Even if it was developed by just a modder, it was was published as official DLC for the game by taleworlds entertainment. Meaning that the project can then be considered as an official version of the game that they outsourced to another company or persons. Outsourcing of work is actually common in any type of creation, but you think it shouldn't somehow count? Either way you're wrong.

f1 then f4 is also recommended for your horse archers. those will most likely survive the fight and wille keep on poking the enemy.
ive seen it happen alot that the enemy sends their cav after my horse archers wich then run away from them (often towards my army) only for me to charge their cav with my 50+ group of cavs. after this the horse archers will go back to harrassing the enemy

Sumpter horses don't count towards party speed 😪

You don't need to "find" the named NPCs to form a caravan. They are all in the character bar when you are on the town's main page.
to be super technical and pedantic about it: You're still "finding" them there in the character bar.
Nikkorien points for using the word “pedantic” in a comment on UA-cam.
Side tips for trading as well:
They have a weight modifier but it doesn't seem to work (they do slow down the speed of your party)
Side notes:
Nice tips, i will try it on my next game play.
Great tips on the trading👍
@@MadHashashin As in those peasants running around the map instead of caravans. Caravans usually are more expensive to trade with while those peasants usually sell everything at one go and sometimes you can get sumpter horses for 16-20 denars.
Also noticed in late game there tends to be inflation of prices especially when there are a lot of wars going on and trade caravans being plundered. Make sure you establish trade caravans with your companions on the other side of the map to avoid the wars and to be ganked on by larger forces.
Try not to set up too many parties as well with your companions during wartime if you can unless they are following you because they will end up attacking trade caravans and reducing their unit count on just these caravans or even worse getting captured.
huge props to this guy. he cuts straight to the point and doesn't have an obnoxious 2 minute intro that you have to skip past like most youtubers.
Please don't overlook charm in the game.
even trading 1 denar for 1 denar or nothing at all levels charm
1. When walking around city you can see there a thugs in various points you can figth with them and then figth with gang which can pretty easly give you reputation with merchants and other gang bosses, when you will have a good amount of reputation with one of the bosses you can figth his troops and gain reputation with bosses that dont like you, like that you can easly unlock all troops to recruit in cities
2. When looking for some elite troops like battanians archers you can select to track a city/village so you know dont need to search them in all of the faction
3. Easy way to qucik sell all the trash in your inventory is to "lock" (by clicking on the circle next to them) things that you need (horses, food) and just click "sell all"
4. (Not sure) If village which is close to city is producing grain then the profitable buissnes to buy is brewery which made beer from grain (oil from olives, smith for iron etc)
5. Always remeber to set your companions a role if you dont choose him to be a scout then he will not improve in scouting, quatermaster is for steward, surgeon for healing, engineer for engineering
6. When figth 1vs1 dont just attack/defend/attack/defend always circle aroung the enmy and bash them to face its easy win (dosent work for spears but you can wait with polearm ready to thrust and attack when they will try to attack you (its your reaction time test))
7. When enemy archers are focusing on you and you are on horse click repeatedly a/d/a/d effectivness of thier aim will go down
8. If you in bad situation when enemy outnumebr you and you have a lot of archers wait with you archers on hill shoot them down and when they are close or your archers will run out of arrows just click to retreat you will not loose any troop (for me its cheaing tho)
9. If you are a attacker at the field of battle and you want enemy to charge you just shoot a couple of them down whey they are staying, enemy lord will send them charge
10. Mods are your best friend its can make game way more enjoyable and less grindy
Sumpter horses increase carry cap. Every horse with the horse tier: horse will carry infantry, making your army faster.
Lol after so many battles i have over 400 horses and camels. Small Armies cant outrun me.
Plus 40k carry capacity. Oh yeah

Without compare the most fun weapon

best video i've watched for tips and tricks, and i went through a lot of them :) Thanks for the video mate
Damn, a guide from someone who actually knows what hes talking about. good job
Some tips I have found:
With regards to horses speeding up your party because the footman ride them out of battle, this is true, but there's also a speed debuff called "Herd" which comes from having sheep/pigs/cattle as well as having far too many horses, so always make sure you dont have way too many horses.
Thanks for this tip ! Really helpful had no idea about F6
Lol guess I did things the hard way, I farmed tournaments for money and renown.

I got bored chasing down looters at one point and decided to go from town to town doing tournaments. A good combo of both strategies will probably feel less grindy

Ah yes, just like a veteran M&B vanilla player
bradhuygens right? Just go through 4-6 tournaments and get highest level armor and weapons then play the game lol
Pack horses and mules are only useful for carrying cargo though."
This can be found in the pause menus "Game Tips" section :).
@@WillyLee23 Guessing when theres more horses than soldiers, they'll have to herd the horses because nobody is riding them :)

@@natsukimasamune7766 Is the fail the first part or the last part? Because I know for sure that the last part is bugged and you will fail the mission.
This approach hopefully just got even better today; 1.0.6 patchnotes say they've added XP gain for combat in tournaments/arenas. About to start up the game and find out.
@@cragnamorra they did and its amazing how fast you can level up now
@@natsukimasamune7766 Oh yeah, been catching up 1H & Athletics like gangbusters the last couple hours. Lovin' it. And Practice Arena still crap rewards (got spoiled in Prophesy of Pendor) which is okay, but still worth going a few rounds for the XP, especially as new character.
I want to add to your last tip. You can see the passive bonuses of the skills by clicking the (i) button.
Press F6 during battle if youre lazy. Your troops will automatically move and attack using AI
For some reason it's not working for me, along with F4 (advance)...
Press F1 first and then F4
Excellent video. Need a game to play during the lockdown. This looks like it!
btw to get more influence too you can donate troops to a friendly garrison, not only donate prisoners. they both give big influence
Upper Echelon Gamers .Thank you for the tips i have spent over 100 hours in this game and i know nothing until i saw this video.
im 56 hours in and i didnt know half of those omg
sir thank you, there were a few things that i didnt fully understand and you made it easy to do so. as a new fan of this series, its a lot of fun.
15:30 yeah, you forgot to mention that Smithing has Stamina that can only be regened by waiting around.
So far that's the only thing I can't stand. Super boring when you have to refine wood to charcoal, wait around, smelt weapons, wait around, refine metals, wait around. Like sure it's realistic and I agree with it but damn I hate it.
Also, i think waiting around at night regens stamina faster than during the day and travelling normally does Regen stamina as well but really slowly.
Yeah but...my F keys don't work...and yes I'm a noob to PC gaming...
I remapped Follow me and Attack...that's all I use for now
@@justanameonyourscreen5954 There's an app that lets you audio macro commands. That, and steam has a program called voicebot that does the same thing.
@@justanameonyourscreen5954 And you can just replace that attack map with the f6 command. Charge is poopy, you shouldn't be using it.
THANK YOU SOO MUCH!! There was SO much information that I did not know of in your video!! Thank you for your time and effort in making this video.
@@wyndwolf you dont really need to keep 100+ horses on you to be fair hehe.
This is hands down exactly what i was looking…. Nowhere else will you find this type value. Good stuff 🥂
Jus bought the game and I’m so glad I watched this before playing
There IS a threshold for how many horses you have beginning to slow you down. You can check this by expanding your lower right menu and mousing over your speed. What your looking for is the “herd” rating. At a certain point more horses than men will start giving you speed penalties.
herd only happens when you have sheep cows donkeys or a very low tier horse. but the downside is only 0.2
@@112523 no heard happens when you have more horses than men too. It's barely a factor but if say you have 200 more horses than men you'll notice a -.2 herd. Keep everything constant but sell 20 or so horses and it'll go from a .2 penalty to .18 penalty.
If you have more than 3 times the horses to man, you get herd penalty. (you can sell or store horses in your fief)
how do you store horses in your fief?
I just started playing and I'm loving it. The potential alone is amazing. I have barely even scratched the surface so far
It's purely criminal, the lack of coverage and media attention this game gets, while being so damn good. No other game quite does what this game does. Thank you.
Thank u , really helpful
Wow just the tutorial I was looking for this game is so in depth I was getting lost on what to do but this game is so fun I can literally spend hours playing this
Dunno if money is really an issue, I have 10s of thousands from just wandering around with no idea what I am doing.
There is literally a guy like you in every game. "Oh yeh... dark souls was too easy... i dunno what the big deal is... Yeh i dunno why ppl go on about hard-game... i made 50 times the top amount in 1/10th of the time"
Ok buddy.
You don't have elite armies, my army upkeep is 9k per day
It's very easy 2 to stack up on a lot of money early, but later on all of it will be used up
@@Vlix223 Ok cool at the moment the only expensive thing is crossbows that are apparently made out of gold and covered in gems.
@@AnimatedStoriesWorldwide on patch e1.0.0 workshops could literally net you 7k a day ..... buddy.
2 years later game is still hard as hell
If your companion has a lower quartermaster level then you then your total party size will be lower as they are replacing you are the quartermaster
Choose companions with good abilities in the tasks you assign them.
First minute of this video, and I'm shown the ONE THING I've been searching for. Subscribed.
Great video, played about 12 hours and felt like i got no where, very helpful
Tip 11: if you just captured a city and need to fill up it's garrison so it isn't defenseless. create and disband parties up to 3 at a time for 25 new troops, each party, every time you do it. this can be abused and give you way more varied and tougher units then just going to the local villages for recruits. after you disband the party, your AI party will head to your nearest settlement and dump it's troops into the garrison there while the party member goes to the pub to wait for you.
I always thought the Viking conquest DLC was a pretty good improvement on Warband, I hope they add some of the concepts from that game into bannerlord
yea thanks man, about an hour in and im lost and getting wrecked in combat mostly, this will help me :)
thanks for explaining the leveling system loving a lot of this game but they made that so needlessly complicated and slow but knowing that putting more points into specific systems does level it up faster
tip 11: the endgame unit you're looking for is archer horseman, they make u travel faster in map and usually never die in big group
6:06 You can also use the arrow keys to move around on the map and can save on clicking!
Sumpter Horses and Mules don't count towards carrying Infantry and upping your speed. It's only the Saddle horse onwards.
Thanks for this guide, I just bought the game and felt like such a noob and didn't know how to do anything but this was super helpful.
Beat tutorial on the game I've seen thus far! Well done!
Use that arrow in the bottom right corner, you can see your speed and if you hover over it you can see factors affecting it, if you have too many horses and mules you get a "herd" negative so you have to sell some horses to get rid of it
13:06 I can feel your pain for not crushing those looters on your way just to show the point of the video.
I think I will restart the game and see if I can get a better start.
i've played nearly 100 hours and i had no idea smithing could be so lucrative. THANKS!
Thanks man some of this stuff was very new to me and will be very helpful on my upcoming playthrough.
