Hi Amy. I love your art, even the loose art.. sometimes it's important to just create even if it's something different from your norm. It's all about enjoying the process. Don't be so hard on yourself. You've had so much on your plate.. as wives and mothers, we take on every ounce of pain and stress our loved ones are going thru. Be gentle with yourself. Create just for fun and enjoyment. We're still here to watch and appreciate it.. and love seeing the beautiful woods!
Amy, your videos are always enjoyable. It’s understandable that you are feeling the need to break artist block, but with everything you have going on, you need to be gentle. Remember the art of play. Practice good self care. Maybe read, or listen to, The Artist’s Way. Your followers will be here, cheering you on and returning for each video. Remember, the success of your channel is not just you lessons, skills, and beautiful art but it is also your warm and beautiful spirit and the fact that you are truly genuine. ~Blessings
We love you Amy. May our Creator’s colors shine upon you and bless you, and may His light bring renewed energy into your art. Wait patiently for a new season is coming.
Hi Amy. I hope your struggles are improving. Find your moments of joy. Art journal your pain and frustration out without having to make it pretty or presentable. I send you vibes for ease and wellbeing. Take care x.
Hey Amy! Great job on getting some sketchbook work done. I think that would also be a good place to use up some of your non-lightfast supplies as well. I believe you are doing what you need to do to combat art block. One thing I've been doing on my days that I have no idea what to do is to work in my 365 Days of Art book. I actually also have the 365 days of Art In Nature book as well. I especially like to take them camping. It doesn't matter to me that they aren't made with paper that was meant for water, I do it anyways and will work in one while the other dries. I love watching how crinkly and funky they are becoming. There are no masterpieces or even anything I would ever show on social media. I draw, paint, color, collage, doing whatever the prompt calls for or whatever moves me at the moment. I don't even do them in order! lol Well, glad to see you looking well and happy and enjoying art. Your yard looks so inviting, btw!
There were neocolor twos in all of the sketchbook pieces I showed! I didn't film it though. I've been trying to give myself permsion to not film everything I do. I definitely think that's been contributing to my art block. I will be sure to do a video in the future. Thank you for watching!
Thanks for the video - sorry to hear of the slump and hope that will rectify itself very quickly. And then we can look forward to quick dash for the 10,000 subscriber mark, now that you've just gone past 9,000 - for which, well done! Kind regards, Brian.
Thx for the vid Amy! Beautiful country... I'll have to live vicariously through you! Love the parrot painting♥! Hang in there girl, we all go through slumps, I have faith in you, so hope you get past the block soon.
I am so glad you enjoyed the vid3o and that you get to live vicariously through me 🙂 it is super pretty here and I love being outside! Thanks foe the encouragement! I appreciate it!
I had artist's block really bad last year when I lost my mom. I tried everything as well. I just had to ride it out. She was my biggest supporter. Then one day I woke up and it was gone. Sometimes, you just have to let it work its way out.
Have you tried collage? That’s my best way to get out of it and going to a museum. On the other hand maybe something you just need to trying to relax a in whatever way works for you even if it’s not art related. There is a time for everything..
Artist’s block - I think you’re doing fine. You just need to keep plugging away. You seem to have a lot on your plate to get in your artistic way. Keep showing up and it will find you working. 😊
I enjoy seeing all your different art styles. As you are sharing and explaining, I almost got a sense that you feel this style change is less than your best. I would disagree! The fact that you can be so versatile in your work shows even more talent. Enjoy the process and thanks for sharing your journey! ❤
Really enjoy seeing your sketchbook work, especially the sketch of your husband fishing as it sounds like you enjoyed working on these pages. Creating for fun and just for yourself is so valuable.
My first thought when you showed the mixed media painting in the Stillman & Birn sketchbook, was that you had FUN making it. The energy of the marks really conveyed that! It’s beautiful! I think if you continue to find the fun when creating, it may help you come out of your block. Sandi Hester always reinforces the concept of play, and that has helped me to create more than I ever have…. Just that one concept. And I care way less if it’s ‘good’ or not, because I’m enjoying myself.
Glad you are making such good progress with your shoulder. Wishing you well on whatever else is going on. I’m experiencing artist block myself for awhile now and yes, life’s stresses are definable contributing to it. I am not a Patreon member simply because I cannot afford the luxury of Patreon memberships at this time in my life. And why do we all apologize for our work when showing it to others. I do this constantly and hate that I feel the need to do so. So, please do not apologize for your work - it is lovely in both its detailed AND loose forms! Take care and all the best to you.
Hi Amy. I really loved seeing your beautiful area. Your plein air packing was very interesting! Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts and skills. It may not seem like it to you, but I can tell you are making great progress. Keep on going.❤
You could try the Artist way by Julia Cameron. They mostly do Artist dates.... and morning pages Alot of people said it has helped their artist block. Best Wishes
Being hard on your self is not working, have a surgery and than nothing works but i work in the sketch book, sometimes simple things or scribbling and it helps, you did nice work in your sketch books, hang in there ❤
Your artwork is so beautiful! I love the loose style with the mix media. I have art block myself. I just found out in April that my sister has stage 4 lung cancer. Never smoked a day in her life. That I know for sure has contributed to my art block. I find myself working more with abstracts when my stress levels are high. It seems to help. It helps me get my feelings and emotions out. Hoping life settles down for you. Praying for peace. It sounds like a wild roller coaster ride like my life right now. Your plein air and those bears and beautiful place that you have just makes me happy and inspires me.❤
I am SO sorry to hear that, Madelyn! I will keep you and your sister in my thoughts! I know it's not much compared to what you are facing but I will be thinking of you two! And I think the abstract art would certainly be therapeutic for you and help process your emotions. I've been thinking of playing with it myself. You'll have to let me know what you think of it. Try to rest and refresh you heart and mind as much as you are able.
Thank you Amy I appreciate those sweet sentiments. The abstract art has helped me walk through the shock and anger of it all. I have replaced it with peace and a warrior mentality. My sister is a fighter and she says she is going to beat this. I told her I believe you will also. I drew a loose sketch of a woman facing lung cancer in agony where you could see her lungs. After that I drew a profile of a strong warrior woman with fighting words such as brave strong woman on her face. Then on the bottom Cancer You Will Die. I sent it to her via text. She said she would look at it daily to give her strength.❤
I have Crohn's as well. I am often tired or sorta brain dead or finding everything is just too much. Its a difficult disease as it is so hard for others to understand as it doesn't have one set of easily defined symptoms. Prayers and true sympathy from me to you
Your work is beautiful...loose or detailed, I love all of it! I hope you get your art mojo back soon. Sadly, I have no advice since I'm at the very beginning of my art journey but I'm rooting for you to overcome this block!
Hang in there, you have certainly had a rough period. As for the art block, maybe ask your kids, or a friend to suggest a “commission” piece (no money involved), that way the choice isn’t really yours. Alternatively, open a book or magazine you are reading and the first item you put your finger on is what you do, or write 20 things, add them folded into a jar, pull one out….. do it. You can also have 2 jars, one with the subjects and one with different mediums with which you have to create the piece of art. Also I suggest a 30 minute limit, you can add to your frustration by having lots of unfinished pieces that you wish you had had time to finish, so 30 minutes seems to be a good time range. Good luck.
Hi! Lately I’ve turned to making accordion books (Helen Cryer) and folded Victorian love letters (Pear Fleur) for unabashed, low pressure art fun. Maybe this would help with the art block? X
Splesh Colour - do not choose the colours before - look what comes in your soul -- not in your mind. So happy you get better each day - take your time --- stop to make every Part of what you create perfekt -- there is beauty in being a little messy ;O) --- sometimes :O). Best wishes for you --- you are great -- just belife.
I have been in that hole far too many times. My tricks to spark the creative monster have been: go to the art store but buy nothing. Looking and touching the product can spark that feeling. My other is to phone a friend. My sister in law for me. She will give me a hundred ideas she would love to see. She is not into the things I am and her perspective jump starts ideas for me. I hope it helps a little.
Go have a look at Louise Fletcher’s channel she has some good tips for art block if I remember right. She also has a free short course that is helpful too. It helps u with your art in general. She is an abstract artist but what she says is valid for all genres. Hth xxx remember it’s u and your family that’s important. So please look after yourself xxx

Fabulous artwork. Colours.are amazing. The outdoor illustration is excellent
Thank you so much 😀
I like your free and loose better. It looks like you had fun. There is more energy. Or ..freer energy ❤
♥️🎨 wishing you the best creative vibes!
Fellow Crohn's here. Prayers for youu

Very nice sketchbook! Sketchbooks are for experimenting and new things and don't need to be perfect, lol! Mine definitely are not perfect!
id love to see you use Caran D'Arche neocolor II crayons and or watercolor markers by Windsor Newton or Faber Castelle

Can you link the clear case you packed those neocolors in? It’s perfect!
I’d also like to know!

Absolutely love that “looser” painting you did of the water. You are very talented.
Artist’s block - I think you’re doing fine. You just need to keep plugging away. You seem to have a lot on your plate to get in your artistic way. Keep showing up and it will find you working. 😊
Hi Amy! Awesome video, as always. Curious, what little container do you store your neocolors in for travel?

Hopefully with some nice weather and getting outside we can fill our lungs with fresh air and fresh new ideas 😊❤️. All the very best to you 😊👩🏻🎨
I love the loose sketches and painting you are doing! Lovely.

Beautiful work! Loved the peek in your sketchbooks! Looking forward to the plein air video!
Thanks so much! 😊 glad you like the video! Thank you for commenting!
I look at pictures I like to get inspired!! I have a bunch saved on my phone.
Ooh my gosh I just love where you live… I love all the nature, even the bear!😅 Far cry from where I am in NYC 😢

Wow, you see bears on your route. Aren’t you afraid of them? I walk an extra round to avoid a happy running dog, because I am afraid of them.
