    I hit that subscribe button as soon as soon as I heard 45, 80 kilo's! Thanks for a great review for the average surfer. Mikey does kill it. He was surfing my local in shitty shoulder high waves as if it was 10/10 conditions. I "progressed" to twins about 10 years ago. Currently have a 5'6 and 5'10. Both local boards but the 5'10, which is loosely based on the Fishbeard, has proved to be exceptional. Fins definitely make all the difference. I was using medium Captain fin CF Twin Especials which are a great fin but my surfing just stepped right up with a generic Mark Richards fin. Like the CI fins, they're pretty big but the board just grinds in turns now, it's a beauty. Thank you for a great video mate, great editing, great surfing. Can't wait to see more. Hi from Cape Town.

      Hey Brett! Man, that's so sick to hear about the MR fins, I've never tried them so really makes me wonder what I'm missing.... We are currently working on trying to align with a fin system .co for future reviews, just so we have a wide variety for feedback - as you rightly point out - fins can make all the difference.
      Have heard only good things about the Fishbeard too, so that's epic that you love it so much. I've not had the chance of trying one yet unfortunately (so many board model options out there these days).
      Thanks for the feedback, obviously as we do more of these I'd personally love to get viewer feedback / advice / questions to keep the froth levels high for you guys, so hit me up with any suggestions and we will do our best to accommodate.
      Respect!

    Nice work guys - I dig the laid back vibe. I’m a Sydney sider too (originally from Av) so reviews of boards in my local waves are something I’m super keen to watch.
    Interesting point about making variations to the board: in a recent CI vid showing his quiver, Mikey Feb had some variants of the Twin Pin. He had a more refined version for good waves and a more daily driver type.
    They put the dims in the caption:
    6’0 x 18 3/4 x 2 5/8
    5’8 x 19 1/2 x 2 5/8
    I wonder if they’ll make some stock variants?
    Looking forward to your next vid

    Really enjoyed the review. I think you are on to something much more useful to the ‘everyday’ surfer than the reviews that try to get all ‘tech-ie’. Northern Beaches is also my home. Nice to see a board going through ‘it’s paces’ in my local waves. I’m 59, still on short boards & other ‘twinish’ craft - fortunately or unfortunately addicted to exploring different boards and how they feel. So this platform is right in my ‘wheelhouse’. Also very interested in the Local Shaper thing. Ordering and refining a board from a guy you can talk to is a very different and interesting process - it gets little attention in the review format. So stoked on your contribution!
    Just a quick question on sizing of the Twin Pin. The 5’9” is roughly 30ishL. What size & volume short boards do you ‘normaly’ ride?

      Hey man, For sure.
      FYI, the first session (lumpy semi-onshore) I had the CxC twins in. The second session (offshore) was all shot with the CI twins.
      I feel like it depends on if you wish to slice the board through your turns and still get a bit of release or keep the board more on a track and carve your lines.
      I hope this helps.

      Hi Justin ! I was actually looking exactly to those boards, meaning the CI Twin Pin and the Tur Twin Pin. I’m 5’9 and was looking both in 5,11 mostly for beach breaks, steep fast waves .. so I would really appreciated if you can give me your feedback on your 5,10 tur twin .. is it fast ? Would you surf it on a 5 ft face beach break ? How does it paddle for you ?

      I have a 4 channel Tur Twin Pin it's perfect for NJ beach break. All the manufacturers and retailers say their boards are great in all conditions and wave sizes. The TTP is the only board I have ever had that actually is. Got the 6'2, I can catch unbroken waves way out with the longboarders on it.

    Hello, can you please give us a little more details on the differences between the CC upright fin and the BM twins ?

    • @surfbored
      @surfbored  2 роки тому +1

      Hi. I feel both sets of fins are ideal for this board. It is more dependent on the wave type you are surfing. My suggestion is to get both an upright twin fin set and an upright keel (similar to the fins I've featured) and test them in various conditions. The main difference is the upright fin (CC) works well in quick transition and short waves which require responsiveness, whereas the keel style (BM) set will work in walled-up down the line style waves where you can draw out your turns and hold the rail line longer. 🤙🏼👌🙏🌈✌️

  • @nickengelsman
    @nickengelsman 2 роки тому

    Man, this is soo good! Congrats on your first video. I'm currently living in Indo and have been riding the CI Twin Pin for the past months. Never tried the official fins, only similar sizes as the CC ones you use and another set that sits in between the CC and official ones. I like those more when the surf is a bit bigger.
    But I fully agree on the "doesn't feel good on below shoulder waves" and "it needs a long wall". I've tried it in smaller surf, the board feels like a boat in those conditions haha! I'm 6,2 and weigh about 82kg, I got the stock 6'1 version. If you're into twins, another board I can highly recommend is the CC Lane Splitter.

    • @surfbored
      @surfbored  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Nick,
      Thanks for the vibes! Much appreciated.
      Good to hear you are experiencing similar things with this model, just like all boards, it has it's place in a quiver.
      I'd love to know your thoughts on it as a tube riding board, especially if you're over in Indo... for me it was a huge surprise that it goes so well in hollow tubes... it would be my board of choice for those days out of every board I currently have.
      I also have and love the CC Lane Splitter (a stock 5'7"). It's actually the most fun Twin Fin I own.
      We may do a review on this model in coming episodes, but also want to give some attention to the lesser known shapers out there when possible.
      Hit me up if you have any questions or suggestions for future reviews!
      Respect!

    • @surfbored

      Hi Johan, I sized this one based off my shortboard literage, and then scaled that up by about 2litres. I normally ride my short boards around 28.5litres and this Twin Pin is 30.6litres.
      I hope this helps 🙏
