- I've just built this Befaco Even VCO from a kit and here's a quick look at the features and a nice long bit of music making. Check out my Modular DIY video for the whole story of the build. The Even VCO is the only sound source - using the Sine, Pulse and Even outputs. Other modules include the Jove and Polivoks filters, Magneto, Maths, Edgecutter and the Turing machine is generating the sequence.
Thank god it worked. If you ever build a kit and it doesn't work i want to see some b roll of you walking across a field in the rain, eyes down, muttering, fading away into the distance.
This remains one of the loveliest VCO demos in existence. Also an enjoyable performance! This is an excellent example to show people when they start asking about how to start a rack.
Thanks! Nice comment :D
One of the best melodic jams I can remember as of late, J! 🎯
Great post. Been watching your channel for a while now, great stuff and really enjoy your style. I've built almost all my modules to keep the costs down though find it gets a bit addictive. I've found the Befaco kits to be great value for money and easy to assemble. Their filter is brilliant as you can chain the 2 halves together. Really enjoying your modular journey, keep going and I look forward to your next installment :)
Thanks man!
Im totally in love with this awesome turing machine OH MY GOSH ❤️
You really coaxed some rich sounds and finessed delicate textures out of that VCO. Nice job on the build!
Interesting and tempting (although I have something of a list of tempting things and need to be good for at least a couple of months having just ordered a muxlicer from Thonk) The only thing I felt the video didn't make clear was who'd made the blooming thing! Getting a rush from making up kits from Thonk is quite an expensive addiction - proceed with great caution and consider seeking professional help :-)
Not entirely sure what I was hearing but suffice to say - it sounded lovely! Really lovely! A great sounding oscillator. Congratulations on a successful build. See ya tomorrow!
This sounds GORGEOUS. I'm getting an Even VCO diy kit and the you are guilty for it, sir
Congrats Robin it sounds great.
The "mystery" input is a second V/oct for doing more crazy stuff :)
I made one myself too ! Good job on this one !
Ahhh, yeah, i thought it might be like the Expo input on the ST0
Exactly ! You get two exponential and one linear input !
@@MoltenMusicTech not an FM input per say (though they do both "modulate frequency" lol), but an actual 2nd 1V/Oct that sums with labelled one below it, for sweet precision-added sort of sequencing tricks!
Congrats on the build. Lovely sounds!
Sounds very beefy and nice. I’m tempted to buy a DIY kit to try. But I think I need some simple soldering projects to get my skills up to scratch first. EDIT: looks like it can be bought as a module. Nice.
Sounds great! 😎👍🏼
..... you seem to have started another row as well. How’d that happen?! :D
Reminds me of Terry Riley's "In C"
fantastic Jam! :))
Did you make that module Robin?
I made it, I did, with my own fair hands
That´s really good. But the greatest thing is his happines of having make it.
I´m a newbie in this genre and want to know artis who use this kind of stuff.
If someone can suggest me some names to search, i´ll be very thankful. Cheers
I just did a live stream with Steve Davis and he was full of recommendations of music to listen to - check that out :D
@@MoltenMusicTech That´s perfect! Thanx a lot.
