I absolutely love my Pluck to death. This was a beautiful showcase of some of the wonderful sounds it can make. I think I'm going to be getting 2hp arp next to go with my Pluck.
Such a great sounding module. I need to add one of these to my skiff. I miss my Rings but do not miss the issues trying to tune that module, nor the 14hp it occupied. This seems like a great alternative. thanks for posting.
this is MUCH tougher to tune than clouds (tbh i hardly ever use pluck because of it's tuning issues) the tiny little pots have such a big range crammed into such a small control its really hard to get it in tune with anything of your other OSC's
@@MmostlyRandom I did end up putting a Pluck into my skiff and I'm enjoying it a lot. I am not finding any issues tuning it all. I do agree the tiny knobs are hard to use, as are all modules if this size but I haven't had to touch it a lot once it's tuned.
@@ChuckLeone ive had big problems tuning mine. maybe its just my fat fingers but i have no problems with any of my other 2hp modules. on the flip side I don't find clouds hard to tune at all (I do have a monsoon version tho so maybe thats easier to tune than the mutable)
I have recently discovered your videos and like how you review products, especially because you discuss flaws and problems. It was your demo of the Nifty Bundle that caused me to finally take a dive into Modular. Well, that and seeing videos on the clouds module. A while back I was doing an experiment where I used sounds in a video editing program which has no musical properties aside from being like a tape recorder with many tracks. I would rip sources and create collages out of the ripped sounds. I've been wanting to use all my sounds in my music and was going to use my old EPS16 plus and my DSS-1 when it dawned on me that it is likely someone has created a wav player for Eurorack. A quick search and I came across the 2HP Play wave player which could be my ideal solution for integrating my samples with modular. Any hopes for a review? I have fairly specific ideas of how I would want to use it. I'd be curious to see what you think of it.
Thnx for this demo. Just ordered a rackbrute to make my 2S a starting centre for modular exploration - now checking out modules and I like this, thinking of this or the vowel to start with....what do you think of the reliability of this brand?
As I'm also interested in such a patch could you elaborate a little on role of the turing machine: my guess is you generate some random voltage's with it, quantize those with uscale and then feed quantized-cv into pluck, right?
The Turing just generates random voltages. I’ve put it through a quantiser to generate set notes. The Varigate is a sequencer that you can program although it can do some randomness too.
Would the Varigate 4+ be a good sequencer to use with Pluck or Rings? I’m looking for something to sequence Rings as well as Pico Drums in a 104hp skiff. I would like to add a couple more voices as well such as Pluck, plaits or uBraids. Pluck seems like a good option due to size and cost.
The Varigate packs a lot of functionality into a small space - i love the way the CV sequence and the gates are completely independent so you can sequence the sustain of the Pluck while only twanging it when you need to. It's not great at creating accurate notes particularly, it's not that kind of sequencer, but it does get things moving quickly.
If you happen to have a 2hp Bell I'd really like to hear something similar with that module... there is a distinct lack of a good Bell review or demo on UA-cam. ta
@@MoltenMusicTech Here ya go... soundcloud.com/wishbone-brewery/pluck-and-bell mostly Pluck, surreptitious use of Bell. newbie question...when using a turning maching module and a quantizer in this case does the signal flow go from turning machine into quantizer or the other way around before going into pluck?
Just got a 2hp Turing machine and disting mk4 coming Monday I also have a 2hp rnd module as I was going to use that for random gate signal similar to your patch description. The 2hp tm has a trigger input and an out put. The 2hp rnd has a gate output as well as smooth and quantized output. I am baffled on how to use all three into the pluck. Any suggestions would be most helpful.
Hmmm.... the Pluck has two inputs - the strum/pluck/strike input that triggers the sound and a 1v/oct input that controls the pitch. Send the 1v/oct input some pitch voltage and hit the pluck input when you want it to make a noise. Using the RND on the pluck input and the TM on the 1v/oct would do the job. I guess you can use the Disting as a quantizer so that the Pluck plays regular notes rather than just whatever the voltage is. Does that make any sense? Best course of action is to have a play and see what happens.
Still a great module in 2024! I just ordered a second one.
You intrigued me AND put my four year old daughter to sleep. Two thumbs up!
"I think my search for the perfect sound for my rack has ended" *lol* In Eurorack, nothing ends :-)

I just bought Rings and now I feel like a tool. This little module is amazing. Really beautiful work here, BTW!
Isnt rings awesome tho?
Beautiful work! A great module, but you're really using it in a gorgeous way.
Awwwsssoomee! really lovely sounds..kotos and dulcimers galore!
That should be the demonstration video for their module. Really beautiful sounds.
This is super nice and relaxing
Rings from MI has a very similar mode to pluck, as well as a couple other modes that made me over the moon. Karplus-strong is such a nice sound.
This really is lovely..... I've just started building my first rack and Pluck, Vowel & Bell from 2hp are on the shopping list.
Also check out the 2hp Arp. It goes well with Pluck.
Cheers :) @@problemchild799

Nice sounds and a tiny footprint. Looks like a winner!

excellent demo
Thanks!
this sounds lovely

So nice I played it twice

Beautiful, can you please say some more, with more details, about the patch between the Pluck, the quantizer and the turing maschine. Thank´s!
I think you'll find it in the next video or two :)
Stunning!
Very cool!

Very ambient ... nice. Easily lay down a track with that.
This literally sounds identical to the plaits plucked sound haha
I'd be very tempted if I didn't already have a Rings and a Plaits. Actually, I still am.
me as well, though I'm waiting for Plaits ... perhaps a second Rings, but I'd like to save some skiff space : )
frees up the Rings for its bell like sounds

Can this or a similar result be had by using these three 2hp modules: TM - TUNE - PLUCK?
Well you just want to send it some pitch and send it some triggers - if they do that then yes.
If you happen to have a 2hp Bell I'd really like to hear something similar with that module... there is a distinct lack of a good Bell review or demo on UA-cam. ta
I don’t, but it’s a thought. Someone should ask 2hp to send me one.

Sweet!
which delay/reverb did you use? suits the pluck very well
Delay was the Roland Demora, reverb came out of the Pico DSP.
This I like!, a lot
So, what exactly does the "damp" knob do? Is it like a filter or does it function moreso as an effect like delay or reverb?
It dampens the sustain of the plucks - fully open and it sustains indefinitely, turn it the other way and it's very muted.
Molten Music Technology ok. Thanks for clarifying!

Turing machine is generating voltages -> quantizer turns them into notes on a scale -> goes into 1v/oct input on Pluck. Make sense?
