They're like the American Joy Division or the Smiths without being overtly influenced by them. Yet here they are anchored in the annals of American (post) punk and rock n roll.
Thanks for posting this! Such a beautiful moment in the band’s history. Chris had moved on and Nathan had moved in but Mike is still behind the drums. Craig is just fucking amazing. Love that guy
I don't care if I say this under every STT video ever: they remind me of early, true (that is Peter Gabriel - led) Genesis in their calculated madness. And the guy's voice.

Saw this band so many times back then, with the different lineups, often with Jawbox. Being late teens/early 20s in Richmond, VA came with few advantages but this was def one!
Would you believe.....many years ago I got to go to one of those "College Music" showcases (CMJ or something like that)...ya know where bands were hoping to get signed post-Nevermind....anyways the bands that I remember seeing: American Standard (my friend's band) Shudder To Think, Jawbox, Holy Rollers and Samiam. An insane night in NYC sometime around the era when this video was shot!
Great in your face stuff, reminds me of my one encounter with the live act, little venue in Virginia Beach Sept '93 (Just before I went into Naval Boot Camp!)...Nathan was on stage with them grinning like a fiend! A five piece, they shredded like mad. Recall standing almost still in the "mosh pit" just astounded by it. Craig commented, "It's all cool the slammage, but some folks just want to hear, so have respect."
Saw these guys live in SLC , and a guy in the "scene", later to become my Friend gave the singer the finger after he told the audience he was homosexual, the singer then gave the finger right back to my friend(I was so proud of the singer because at the time I was dealing with my own issues having been molested and never addressing it to that point)... Anyway, now these 25+ years later I think my friend gave him the finger because he was gay too and didn't have that kind of courage(which was considerable being that it was Utah in the early nineties!!! Love you STT!!!
Does anyone have a clue how tiny and low capacity Dobbs was? I do, as my band played there in the 90s and we were crap and the place filled up anyway mostly due to being on South street. When I looked around it was the tiniest set and being full I could have sang without a mic.
Went for Fugazi.... stayed for Shudder to Think.
My god, Get your goat wasn't even released yet. UNBELIEVABLE!

Awesome time.....this shit makes me cry. The nostalgia is crazy

he's not gay tho lol. People think he is but he is not
Yea, he talks about his girlfriend taking care of him when he had cancer. Not gay
This sounds way too good for an early 90's recording.
Get ur goat.... kiddies
Still fucking fabulous. Thanks Shudder to Think!
He seems so gay. In a good way.
Saw this tour in Pittsburgh, at The Upstage in Oakland, probably days before or after this. Amazing show. Loved these guys.
Rich McGervey Damn. I was too young and didn’t start going to Roboto or Club Laga until 2001.
Rich McGervey And didn’t hear of STT until probably freshman year of college in 2003.
god i love this band to bits
