6:28 Yes, that's due to the ancestors. Most Brazilians are of Portuguese, Italian, Spanish and German descent. France didn't play a significant part in Brazil.
Not even the UK, but there are a lot of Brazilians there
@@Xicooliniin that case it’s about the money and cause we like Harry Potter 😂
Also, being eligible for an Italian citizenship is way more lenient than in other European countries. IIRC, any generation/lineage is eligible as long as all ancestors were men. Yeah, quite f..ed. I'm a Brazilian and a 7th generation descendant from an Italian, and in each generation, my lineage was of men, and I got it. But nowadays the process can take a decade or so if I'm not wrong. People started abusing it hard.
The ones in Portugal are just stuck there from the time it was worth living there. The ones in France got enticed to live there later (like I did for a while), but most ended up leaving.
To be more accurate most Brazilians have African ancestry but the European migration waves are far more recent and from countries that are worthwhile to claim your nationality by blood
6:20 The reason Brazilians often choose Italy over Spain is that much of our heritage comes from there. A large number of Italians immigrated to Brazil to work in the fields after slavery was abolished. In some of the inner cities of São Paulo state, nearly 50% of the population is of Italian descent.
also because some places in italy loves brazilians due to how troops treated the civilians, my great grandfather met his wife there
@@GabrielAugustomisterkakuna that's a very very tiny portion of Italy.
And because it’s much harder to get Spanish citizenship.
I know, you are brazilian, but I wanna talk w/ you in english. Here, in SC, 50% of the population is italian descendant. I'm one of them. Ancho'Io sono di origine italiana!
besides, its very easy for Brazilians to request Italian citizenship if at least one of their grandparents was Italian

@@toon8526 But why specifically brazilians and not (let's say) argentinians, chinese, vietnamese, egyptians, etc.?
@@LuisRomeroLopez It can be applied to any nation. Since Belarus isn't in the top destinations for education (mostly because it can be considered relatively cheap), the rule is simple: if country is relatively small and it's less convenient to travel to and from this place, then you have to narrow down the list of universities to the most prestigious ones. Argentinians? There's no embassy in Belarus, so I doubt that there's more than 5 of them here. Egyptians? There are more of them. Chinese and vietnamese? Only people from Central Asia are the larger group among foreign students in Belarus. And so on.

Portugal is still mostly because of language. The portuguese ancestry of most brazillians is much older than the german or italian ancestry, so for the most part it is not as relevant.
@@Bajolzas Not completely true! There were several recent waves of Portuguese immigration, specially during the 20th century. Brazilian Portugese and Portuguese Portuguese are apparently quite different, I wouldn't be surprised if there were quite a language gap afterall.
It's not. Brazilians aren't that used to Portugal's accents, so they sound odd at first. It's not unlike an American hearing a thick Scottish accent for the first time.
There are a few grammatical structures that are preferred in each country ("Eu vou" vs "Eu estou a ir"), but it's quite easy to grasp. That and second person singular "tu" vs "você" are the biggest differences.
Nah, the main diferent you gonna find apart from a strong accent gap are animals names, Europeans use their old way and we use words that the natives used to use
The difference between EU and Brazilian Portuguese are much more akin to EU Spanish, versus, say, Argentine Spanish and the Paulistano dialect, or, Northeastern Vernacular with the Hispanic West Indian Spanish, or Mineiro dialect with central Mexican dialect. The pitch and language evolution from those Brazilian states resemble how Spanish developed in those areas.
Then again, due how much exposure to (Brazilian) Portuguese I had in life, both languages are way too similar in my head. Kinda like how similar are Hindi are Urdu with each other. So, you could say Spanish and Portuguese are the analogous western version of Hindi and Urdu to a good extent.
